All of us are hurting but no way can we let Klopp go. There is no better option available. The big problem is the form of front 3. There are no smart runs, easily shoved off the ball, not defending from the front, pulling out of tackles, can't finish one-on-one and that is putting pressure on the rest of the guys. What can Thiago, Gini, Keita or any other midfielder do if the front 3 give them no option.

salman

{Ed077's Note - The only way you guys should, as fans, accept not having Klopp at the helm next season is if he himself wants to leave and take a break maybe.}

1.) 08 Mar 2021 09:51:16
I agree I was about to post similar. Of course the defence and midfield good be better but the main issue is the forwards. We get into some great positions but we look clueless in the attacking third. We are conceding one goal at home and it’s game over, we just can’t score.

2.) 08 Mar 2021 09:53:54
I think everything has been said in regards to our form. Its bad, really bad, however we neeed to stick with Jurgen. Im hoping something good happens in the champs league (not holding my breath) for the club.

I think its best we get this stange season over, re-group in the summer, get the injuerd lads back and go at it again. Im sure they are all as cheesed off as the rest of us. Im actually not that bothered its gone belly up I just want us to come back strong next season and show everyone what we are made of. I can't see Mane and Bobby being happy with what they are producing that's for sure.

This being said we cannot continue losing, something needs to improve quickly, scoring a goal might do us the world of good!

3.) 08 Mar 2021 10:26:48
@northernbeasle, I’m with you 100% apart from the “not bothered it’s gone belly up” part. Klopp is the man to get us out of this mess and I certainly don’t want anyone else at the realm. He has given me some of the best nights supporting this club, if not the best being 34. Now, with that being said he is not above criticism and has to shoulder some blame. The players also need to be accountable because the least you can expect is effort and pride. Instead it appears players are feeling sorry for themselves and hiding away instead of standing up and showing leaders skills.

Some of his decisions have been baffling to say the least. His subs being one and the times where he had the chance to play two defenders but persisted with a midfield at the back. The high line being the other. That requires us to press everywhere and clearly we are mentally and physically spent so why continue with it. Also we are playing a high line with a fragile makeshift defence and a midfield that offers zero protection. To add to that the central defenders are all slow. It is footballing suicide but we have chosen to play this way and getting punished for it week in week out.

Our injuries have been verging on ridiculous and no one could have anticipated that happening. That is something we couldn’t plan for. No one expected us to win the league or play like prime Barcelona with the situation we are in but at the very least we should still be beating teams like Fulham, even with the current crop of players available. To make it even more frustrating is that we are only mustering one shot on target in most, if not all those games. Now it would be so Liverpool to go on a run in the Champions League and do the unthinkable despite our wrenched league form but the sooner the season ends the better. Get all out players back and fit, move some players on a bring a few in. Nothing major but a few additions are definitely required.

4.) 08 Mar 2021 11:00:33
I truly don't care if we finish 10th this season and fight for the top 4 next season, as long as we are back to PL and CL challenging levels in 2023 and 2024 seasons and Klopp has built a true juggernaut of a team for the next generation.

5.) 08 Mar 2021 11:22:57
Agreed. We have to support Klopp and help him find a way, which he will sooner than later.

6.) 08 Mar 2021 11:35:53
The thing is that none of Thiago, Milner, Keita, Wijnaldum, Jones or Ox offer any protection to the defence and they’ve offered nothing going forward, so it’s been almost like playing with no midfield in most games as all they’ve done is passed the ball sideways or let the opponent run past them. Without Fabinho and Henderson our midfield is non existent. There needs to be some serious surgery in the summer, which means losing Milner, Keita, Wijnaldum and Ox as for one reason or another they’re not really up to it.

7.) 08 Mar 2021 14:09:19
Klopp being let go by the owners is nothing but a pipe dream for the rival trolls and petulant LFC fans who are a minority as tiny as a speck of dust, IMO.

Klopp will leave on his own and I doubt he will do so in the summer. The guy is a fierce competitor who will not want to let this season go unchallenged. He taught us how to NEVER give up and fight back for what we have been denied and we did, and we prevailed. The guy is a legend and if he can come back stronger next season and win the PL or CL then, his statue at Anfield is secure.

The window was a little disappointing in the end. Expectations were high with VVD and Lemar but it wasn't to be. I think if we had gotten those 2 we would have been up there with the Manchester clubs competing for the title. Now I think, it's another year trying to finish 4th. Anyway time to get behind the Manager and players and hope for the best.

salman

1.) 01 Sep 2017 22:43:45
Are you kidding me?! We have just destroyed yes destroyed our closest rivals for 4th spot. We are contenders with or without VVD don't you worry about that. The way people talk you'd think VVD was the best defender ever to walk the earth! Plus if we'd got Lemar the Coutinho would be holding up a Barcelona shirt on Sly Sports News right this very moment so it's arguable that we've not missed out there either. We got a decent left back who could turn out to be brilliant, Mo Salah, Englands brightest young striking talent, Naby F@cking Keita and stole AOC from Arsenal AND Chelsea! AND we kept Coutinho! I suppose we should've signed Neymar and Mbappe eh?

2.) 02 Sep 2017 00:14:13
I agree,
But of all the positions on the pitch, the CB one in our case was the most important one to bolster.

The spine of the team being strong is paramount to achieving sustainable results on a season long basis.
And i've always been told you build the spine from the back.

3.) 02 Sep 2017 00:32:16
We didn't get everyone we wanted, but I'm glad we were more picky this summer as it's far from wise to allow panic to dictate your decisions. We did reasonably well, and got Naby Keita for next year. If we can keep everyone fit and get Coutinho back on the pitch I'd say we are in fine fettle.

Despite the negativity on here I think AOC will prove to be a very useful signing IF he can stay fit, definitely an upgrade on Milner. Salah is doing well so far and Robertson has shown that he too is a good option, great crosser of the ball. Moreno is resurgent and had a really good game against Arsenal, whether he can maintain that remains to be seen of course. Solanke has come in and effectively displaced Origi. For the first time in a while we don't just have a good first 11, but a decent level of squad depth with a wide variety of qualities.

4.) 02 Sep 2017 01:22:28
Arsenal are hardly our closest rivals for 4th spot. That would be Spurs and Chelsea. Arsenal are a mess and we will see them getting thumped like that quite often this season. It was a good team performance by us against Arsenal, but not a spectacle as everyone claims it to be.

Ed001, One thing about Klopp that is bothering me is his ability to change things when needed. It seems that when we are down, he takes a lot of time to change players/ tactics and his subs don't have the right impact. 2 examples of this are the games against Sevilla and Bournemouth. Can you give a view on this?

salman

{Ed001's Note - it is just the way he is. It is very rare subs do make a positive impact, which is why we remember certain players that do make them. We don't really have anyone to come off the bench and change the game available, so there is little that can really be done to be honest.}

1.) 02 Mar 2017 12:08:58
Thanks Ed.

{Ed001's Note - I do agree though it is frustrating watching it.}

2.) 02 Mar 2017 11:51:01
I've always thought Origi makes an impact when he comes off the bench.

3.) 02 Mar 2017 12:49:00
Origi definitely has an impact off the bench - i feel he is used too late though. He often brings in players with 15-10 minutes left when really they need half an hour to stand a real chance.

Has to be said though, when our team is looking apathetic and lethargic on the field Woodburn makes a huge difference. I wonder if it's because Coutinho, Mane, Clyne et al get embarrassed to see a child daring to do what they can't be bothered to do, but he definitely ups the whole teams tempo.

4.) 02 Mar 2017 13:43:38
Origi. Woodburn. Even moreno with his pace all have the ability to offer somethunt different.

5.) 02 Mar 2017 13:46:09
when origi comes on, that's when teams decide to should shut up shop, as klopp is about to go all out. i think klopp has learnt somewhat as normally he would throw on origi for anyone other than the front 3. we're already a very attacking side and that move would always leave us likely to concede more goals.

I thought the subs and tactical changes were fine against leciester but really that should have been a half time change or better yet approach each team differently from the start instead of being so arrogant. we are not barcelona.

6.) 02 Mar 2017 14:00:29
Disagree with the Boss over the role of Subs in a game. When your first team players aren't up to the specific task you bring different players from the bench.
Klopp doesn't fancy subs doesn't mean Subs have no role except few cameos to make up numbers. It was one one of the Subs that got us the CL called Hamman.

7.) 02 Mar 2017 14:14:15
Squad is thread bare, players needed dropping and changing weeks ago but there isn't the players to do it.

It's all very good getting players off the wage bill but at what cost? Finishing 6th?

8.) 02 Mar 2017 17:58:08
I remember Yossi Benayoun for his heroics off the bench.

9.) 03 Mar 2017 00:08:06
Klopps misuse of the subs bench is pathetic and wrong. It often looks as though he has put no thought into it and you will often see the bench looks very much slapped together and is completely imbalanced, with either 5 midfielders or 4 defenders etc. One of the many improvements klopp must make to himself.

10.) 02 Mar 2017 23:38:18
The way Mourinio used Fellini against us.
Bring him off the bench launch the ball bypassing our midfielders, Fellini gets on the end of it or manipulates a free kick. They equalise
It winning ugly or saving a point.
At the end of the season they are all worth the same.
Mourinio has done it at all his clubs.

Little late to post but here are my two bits. Although the ManC game looked quite close, it could have been easily 1-4, had we had more luck with the offside, Sterling's 6 yard miss, Coutinho/Hendo's miss and Negredo's luck with a mediocre strike. On the negative side, I think we gave them too much respect in the first half, even after going a goal up. Secondly, I get chills when opposition gets a corner, I don't understand how Skertel is getting away with the blatant shirt pulling. Is BR not watching this and tellin him to quit it? I can bet my lifesavings that the Moaner will have a word with the ref before the game and tell him to keep an eye out for Skertel.

I just realized that I am blind. Wijnaldum has been one of our most consistent performers. Neat on the ball, is tough, good movement, gets in the right positions, doesn't lose the ball and has a great engine. He does need to improve his final ball and scoring ability (I know he has scored some key goals but still) but that will come. He isn't flashy but efficient and effective. I can't believe people are talking negative about him. Who exactly in our midfield will you replace him with?

Early days but if Klopp does not address the key issues then we are in for a very disappointing season. To begin with he needs to start with a proper striker. This is PL not German or Spanish leagues, even the bottom side has the ability to score a goal or two, so you can't afford to miss so many chances. If he can't buy anyone, put Solanke in. Midfield engine of Hendo, Can and Gini is very weak. I know eds would slaughter me for this but Hendo has no quality and Can only has quality for 5-10 minutes a game. Only Gini out of those three should remain in the starting 11. Defense with Moreno and Lovern is a disaster bigger than titanic. TAA is definitely not ready and Clyne is mediocre at best. We needed to buy Ox and put him at right/ wing back (ala Valencia at Man U), put 3 CBs and Robertson at left/ wing back.

Ed001 and Ed002 need to talk to each other more. One is saying that the camp in Spain had no impact on us, while the other one is mentioning is at the core reason for our poor performance. One of the Eds has to be wrong here or am I missing something?

salman

{Ed002's Note - So did the players all come back fully fit or were there further muscle injuries? But at least they came back and thrashed Leicester.}
