If what the BBC and co are reporting is true and Firmino is about to join for such a high fee (wont get into sums and money) then i just can't seem to fathom why so much is being invested into another creater? I know he will improve the team but surely someone who can score lots of goals is what is required right now. If we start with an attacking midfield 3 of Ibe, Coutinho and Firmino what will that bear for the likes of Lallana, Markovic, Texeira and others. don't know what everyone elses thoughts are on the matter including the eds who i know seem to rate the player but surely contextually its not what's needed

Cheers

{Ed002's Note - I am told that Liverpool offered Hoffenheim far more than anyone else and with the player having a low termination clause they were pleased to say yes. Both the Napoli South American scout and a Chelsea representative in Chile tell me that his representative has spoken with a number of clubs but it is Liverpool who were more agreeable to the terms. Nothing is conformed at this time - there are contracts to do and a work permit to organise.}

So could that reported fee of £29m be true Ed002? Seems an awful lot for him if so.

{Ed002's Note - As I have said, Liverpool offered way more than any other side, this got the agreement of Hoffenheim who continued to be concerned about his very low termination clause - although I am not sure why as Bayern Munich dropped their interest and Dortmund and Schalke would likely not been of interest to the player.}

2.) 24 Jun 2015 02:09:40
Thanks Ed002, hopefully we get more info in the coming days/weeks to shed more light on it.

3.) 24 Jun 2015 02:42:58
Ed, you're not seriously suggesting we made an offer that didn't just put a club or player off doing business with us?!

{Ed001's Note - shocking isn't it? Maybe a sign the club is learning lessons at last?}

4.) 24 Jun 2015 03:02:26
I guess it's better than bidding £4M like we usually seem to do. Seems an odd one to me based on our past behavior.

5.) 24 Jun 2015 07:11:57
29mln seems a bit high but then 32.5mln for Benteke and 50mln for Sterling seems ridiculous.

Aside from numbers though I think it's a great move, particularly because it's not obvious there were any CL quality strikers available right now. When put in that context, replacing Sterling for Firmino who can play upfront but also on wing or attacking mid as the team requires(particularly while Sturridge is injured) is a great piece of business and I really hope it goes through.

Will be awesome to see the link up play between Couts and Firmino and gives me hope for some excitement next season, something that was sorely lacking in the last.

Ed did he had any third party ownership?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Hey Eds, not particularly Liverpool related but I was wondering with what the situation is regarding Jack Rodwell? Seems he is getting pushed back in the pecking order at City. are they actively looking to ship him off/ is he interested in a move or is everything still all settled?

redrich96

{Ed001's Note - he is available.}

26 May 2014 02:32:05
Hey Eds, Do you know of any serious interest from clubs in Ilori right now? I know Granada have been impressed with him but I've been wondering if any other clubs are considering making a bid for him. Thanks

redrich96

{Ed002's Note - Right now I think teams from Spain will be looking for a loan due to their financial issues and there will be options. Previous interest from PSV remains.}

All people blurting out how at this stage in the season only results matter, if we come away from Arsenal with a loss we will have started this season the exact same as last season and we all know how that turned out, i understand the team will improve but tbh i see a lot of the same signs i did last season barring a bit more defensive stability. on a positive note i am impressed with some of our new signings and how we are now willing to play directly up the pitch to Benteke rather than just pass it around the back 4 for 20 minutes #my2cents

redrich96

1.) 18 Aug 2015 12:34:58
Benteke ewally want to succeed and that's a top class attitude.

2.) 18 Aug 2015 18:28:35
Posted the same thing, rich! Positivity for the sake of positivity is just stupid, IMO. the reality is that many of our issues from last season especially with tactics, systems and player selections are still looming b4 our very eyes and if people wanna ignore that just to stay positive then have at it. But I know what my eyes are seeing and will not fall that positivity rubbish. Not anymore.

3.) 18 Aug 2015 20:45:16
But if we come away with another 1-0 win we will have started the same way we did in 13/14 season and we know how that ended. We kicked it up when Suarez came back and came close to winning the league. The only thing is we have sturridge to come back this time and Firmino yet to establish himself.

Hi eds

Was just wondering, simply because there is a massive lack of quality out available atm, have you guys ever considered doing or being open to anybody doing some podcasts for the site? whether it be team specific or by league to give a bit of further insight and knowledge into the sport each week or so! i love listening to a good premier league podcast but since the official barclays one has stopped they are very hard to find

cheers!

redrich96

{Ed001's Note - we have often considered it and looked into it, but we never seem to find the time to put one together.}

1.) 04 Aug 2015 08:13:27
I think this would be a great idea. even if it was a fan made podcast, or occasionally a special Ed-guest podcast, certainly is a lot of work but would add a very dynamic and creative addition to the website.

{Ed001's Note - trouble is they are expensive to host, as well as time consuming to make, so it always ends up being something that gets put to one side for later.}

2.) 04 Aug 2015 08:15:03
Off the ball podcasts are usually good. But they are not only for football.

3.) 04 Aug 2015 12:56:21
I used to speak a bit on radio as well as hosting xbl podcasts. Wouldn't mind giving a fair opinion each Monday after a game? Could send you a 5 minute segment this Monday on the Stoke game via email if you like ed?

{Ed001's Note - I have emailed you benny.}

Been away in Adelaide for the game (local to Australia - however nowhere near adealide) but congratulations on getting engaged Ed01! and would also like to extend a large thankyou to yourself and all the Eds for the hard work over the summer, looking forward to hopefully a great new season!!

redrich96

{Ed001's Note - thankyou rich, I hope you enjoyed the game as well.}

1.) 23 Jul 2015 13:16:07
I did enjoy the game Ed! atmosphere was electric however i'd had way too many pints by that point to take it all in. Even better was the open training session where i managed to sneak (jump the fence) onto the pitch and get Migs and Bogdan to sign my kit. However Migs didn't quite seem that impressed with me might i say

{Ed001's Note - maybe telling him we should have signed a better keeper this summer could have had something to do with that? ;o)

2.) 23 Jul 2015 13:36:59
I thought i was just doing a service to this website mentioning to him that everyone who gets around without guide dogs would have loved Begovic on the tour as opposed to Bogdan!! In saying that though having met the two blokes now i must say that Bogdan is a much better person than Mignolet is! The bloke earns 100k odd a week and didn't even want to sign my Jersey, its just about the only thing i'd say his hands are good for atm! :')

22 May 2015 02:26:33
With all the posts about Raheem and transfers lately, thought i'd mix it up and ask, what is everybody's opinion on our new training kit range that has just dropped on the club website. Apart from the prices i reckon its some pretty mint looking stuff

redrich96

20 May 2015 06:04:53
Hi Eds

In regards to the webster ruling that Raheem could potentially act upon in December if he is not sold in the summer, obviously i won't get into the money side of things but why would a club offer a significant sum in August when they know he could just become a free agent effectively after december and then pick him up at that point, apologies if i'm missing something there but a response would be appreciated

cheers and thanks for all the hard work over the season! I have loved reading all your opinion pieces

redrich96

{Ed001's Note - because they would end up paying a large sum in terms of signing bonus and wages instead. It is easier to just buy him from the club.}

Surely if Kovacic is coming in along with Milner somebody from central midfield is being moved on? anything eds?

redrich96

{Ed001's Note - there are still offers on the table for Lucas.....}

My only concern with Firmino was his reluctance to press in defence however it seemed the whole team were trying to drop a bit deeper, whatre your thoughts on that point eds? Have to say though i did like him going forward and as an attacker that is his primary role
