Ed002 I know you say there's no financial sense to selling GJ in January which I don't doubt but why? From where I'm sat getting a fee no matter how minimal and saving his reported wages for the rest of the season seem like a great reason?

not one of harrys

{Ed002's Note - I didn't say that. What I sait is that it make no financial sense for Johnson to make a move in January. He will move in the summer when his contract expires.}

Kevin Stewart scored for Burton Albion.
Lloyd Jones scored Accrington Stanley against Danny Ward who was in goal for Morecambe

That sterling lad looks a good talent only 20 years old and he's got a goal and an assist tonight and generally played well I bet his club love him I bet the fans of that club can't wait to see how he develops over the next few years! Oh wait all his club fans want rid of him because they believe every word they've read in the papers, how are his 5 kids? Oh yeah that was paper rubbish, doesn't he want to leave and go to Spurs? Oh no that was paper rubbish, 150k a week? Sounds realistic to me :) :) :)

1.) 27 Mar 2015 21:58:14
So you think £150.000 a week for a 20 year old kid who is by no means the finished article is about right?You want this kid to get more than any other player at the club including our legend and captain Gerrard and our future captain Henderson. In a few more years time if he continues to progress then he might be worth it, but not at this time, and if he can't accept that then perhaps its time to move him on.

2.) 27 Mar 2015 22:22:58
Oh dear someone actually believes this paper nonsense :) 150k a week for raheem :) x jerno from the s** said it so it must be true :) the papers are so often right :) and so especially right in the past with what they've said about raheem :) they aren't trying to cause trouble they'd never do that :)

3.) 27 Mar 2015 23:07:20
Exactly, Not One! Where do you people get these figures from? If you believe the media then you are deluding yourselves. All they are doing is guesswork and speculation and sadly, many are falling for their BS.

4.) 29 Mar 2015 03:46:33
Sterling is pants. can't pass, shoot or cross or header has he even won a header? and is weak . All he has is pace . I Hope he's sold for a silly amount and someone who can play football is bought. If he can't learn how to play football in 15 years i doubt hel learn now so that he's only 20 nonsense won't wash with me . And before u say support your players .wanting a player or manager for that matter out if the club is supporting the best intrests of the club . If you have a business and an employee isn't doing there job well enough you get rid and get someone in who is good at the job . Bottom line is he is not a good footballer

{Ed001's Note - if you really believe that then you have no idea what a good footballer is, nor have you any idea about the lad. He is a very good footballer. About time people got off the kid's back and stop whining like little girls because he hasn't signed his contract immediately. Go and read Aesop's Fables and you might be a bit less inclined to these kind of ludicrous sour grapes comments.}

We will never achieve anything with sturridge as our main striker. We either need to sell him (so we have the funds to buy a striker of quality that isn't made of wet paper) or sell another of our best assets (coutinho & sterling are the only ones that could single handedly raise the funds). I like vietto but he looks mighty similar to how aspas looked I must point out he's a good player but would be a risk and should only be a number 2 striker if we got him (unlikely) ings or Austin would be good and obtainable number twos but in a perfect world we sell sturridge and buy dzeko, jovetic, falcao, higuan (I know all of these would probably be impossible even with CL but "shoot for the moon land in the stars" etc) so in my opinion sell: sturridge, balo, lambert, borini, aspas, alberto, skrtel, Lucas. Please don't say "football manager not real life" or "another season of tranition" because only 4 of them are 1st 11/bench players. I would hope for around £50m for the lot & hopefully that'll get us a well respected big tent type striker. Milner on a free (not so free) for the midfield and a keeper meaning a totally self sufficient window and I know your first thought will be wages minus gerrard, Johnson, balo, studge, Lucas and skrtel there's a massive massive chunk down

not one of harrys

1.) 27 Mar 2015 12:30:55
I stopped reading at falcao.

2.) 27 Mar 2015 13:10:28
If you don't want people to point out that real life isn't footy manager, don't post footy manager plans

3.) 27 Mar 2015 13:29:52
You should have continued to see the part where I said I know all of these would probably be impossible

4.) 27 Mar 2015 13:42:20
Hmm, not sure Jovetic or Falcao are the answers if you're looking for strikers without injury and fitness issues.

5.) 27 Mar 2015 20:15:52
Falcao had 1 bad injury and has an idiot manager who refuses to give him a run of games and constantly puts him on with 20 minutes left in matches where UTD play defensively as they've already won. Once he gets match fitness I am of no doubt Falcao will go back to being a top striker.

6.) 27 Mar 2015 22:50:41
Milner? FFS good job you aren't in charge.

7.) 27 Mar 2015 23:29:34
I fear for him as well as Studge because his injury takes a while to come back from normally. Now laying in a league that IMO, does not suit him, playing in a hoofball team that is coached by a dinosaur, he might have no chance at getting back to his best. He needs to either leave the PL or play in an EPL team that plays fluid footie.

8.) 28 Mar 2015 09:38:29
I think Jovetic is an option to consider.
Not gone well for him at City so far and they might be tempted to get rid.
I think he would be great in our side but I have to say that where he plays is probably the position we need to strengthen the least.
We have a fair few players who can play that number 10 role.

{Ed002's Note - He won't be joining Liverpool. He is not an option.}

9.) 28 Mar 2015 16:38:19
Another sicknote dodged.

10.) 29 Mar 2015 08:32:50
Thanks ed. why not?
Is he lined up already?

{Ed002's Note - Sorry Jonny - I can't help you.}

25 Mar 2015 11:18:01
And oh look that 20 year old with 7 goals and 5 assists this season (our highest scorer from open play) has been playing with a toe injury in recent weeks.

not one of harrys

1.) 25 Mar 2015 12:16:21
Doesn't mean anything! Players do it all over the world. becides he was crap before that haha I remember Suarez playing injured last year, think he got couple goals aswell. Are you Raheems mum? Shall we give him a little trip away again till its better?

2.) 25 Mar 2015 12:17:09
Too injury prone and he should be top scorer period, not just from open play, at his age.

Not going to develop anymore and comes across as a troublemaker when most Tweens are so grown up and mature at his age.

Lets get rid.

{Ed001's Note - at 20 years old? Not going to develop any more? I really hope that is a joke. He is miles away from his peak years.}

3.) 25 Mar 2015 14:41:10
I'm very much hoping that Zeddicus was being sarcastic

{Ed001's Note - so am I, but I can't remember what he has been saying normally so I am unsure!}

4.) 25 Mar 2015 14:47:13
Not sure what everyone is getting on Sterlings back about, he's got a couple of years until his contract runs out, so in no rush from either side, and besides he's no doubt taking his cues from his agent. Most here don't know the real issues, so while it could be money or greed, it may not.

In terms of potential, he's been one of the better performers in the side despite being played in multiple positions, I think we should cut the man some slack as he may well end up being a critical player for us in a couple of years time.

5.) 25 Mar 2015 15:11:26
Yep, apologies for worrying anyone, but that was indeed sarcastic!

I do think the way BR likes to hang out all the dirty washing in public is the exact antithesis of the Liverpool Way (does anyone remember that?!?), and he has led to this pressure on a 20yo.

We should be looking to our lack of options for Sterling and the fact that we have piled so much pressure on the lad, rather than bemoaning the fact that a 20yo isn't scoring as much as Ronaldo.

Also, the extra crap in the press due to BR's motor-mouth doesn't help encourage the lad to sign a new contract and move on.

It makes me laugh that a number of posters who bemoan the lack of quality depth in our squad are also on Sterling's based on rumours and innuendo in the press.

Give the lad a break, he's only 20 ffs!!

6.) 25 Mar 2015 23:27:05
Stop with the RS bashing because it is getting weak, pathetic and freaking annoying.

With ward going on loan I'm guessing that means brad Jones is fit again?

not one of harrys

1.) 20 Mar 2015 14:56:42
With Jones more than likely leaving in the summer, I suspect Ward will be out to prove that he can be number 2 for us next season.

Red Rum

2.) 20 Mar 2015 15:17:15
Agree with Red Rum on that.

3.) 20 Mar 2015 15:19:00
I think Ward's chance never came and never will and he will probably leave this summer too. it's time for him to play regular football, not a bench warmer.

4.) 20 Mar 2015 16:01:23
Its highly unlikely Ward will get his chance at LFC. Mignolet has improved and the club are obviously looking at a new GK which would make him 3rd choice at the club. Hopefully he will impress at his loan club and get a decent move elsewhere in the summer.

5.) 20 Mar 2015 16:50:02
Personally, I think Rodgers will look to replace Migs as he doesn't fit into his style. Yes he's improved lately, but only because he's been keeping it simple the majority of the time. He's still prone to kicking the ball needlessly out of play and inviting unnecessary pressure on the defence. It's amazing how a few good saves makes people instantly forget his dire distribution/decision making. Cech available for around £10m is a no brainer. However I don't see Migs wanting to stick around as the number 2.
If ward isn't to get a chance as our 2nd keeper then maybe we should bring in a cheap experienced backup to Cech.

Red Rum

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has shown no interest in Cech and Chelsea has quoted the interested sides more than £10M.}

6.) 20 Mar 2015 17:29:18
Absolute bargain

7.) 20 Mar 2015 17:48:24
Mignolet has shown lately he can stay as our number 1.

As for ward the lads 21 he's still plenty of time to have a career at liverpool, time fir first team football and see what he can really do.

8.) 20 Mar 2015 17:48:55
If Cech is deemed too expensive, then I'm sure there are other keepers out there that suit this style. We need a first choice keeper who excels in his distribution and also commands his area well. Someone who is also vocal and can lead from the back.

I don't watch enough football to know which keepers consistently fit the above criteria. Ed, maybe you know a couple off the top of your head who may become available in the summer?

Red Rum

9.) 20 Mar 2015 22:52:59
If a ball playing GK is the pre requisite then get reina back.

10.) 21 Mar 2015 09:49:05
The first and most important job of any keeper is to keep the ball out of the net something Mignolet has been doing quite well. So barring injury, I don't think a first choice keeper is a priority.

Spoken like a true gooner! Happy with 4th everyear with nothing else ;) I think we all realised we finished 2nd in an awful quality league last year and losing our only world class player without replacing him with all the other teams improving/ getting back to their usual quality & us having the extra games and the loss of the quality all expected to finish lower than last season, it was a 1 off freak of nature and we should have won the league. I'd say we're back to normal but we should expect and try to be better. Brendan isn't the man to bring that. Change it find someone that is. Who it is idk but it's not him

Miles better than bamford based on what exactly? One is the top scorer for one one the best sides in the championship and the other didn't make the squad for one of the lower teams in the championship in their last game. One has scored goals in men's football one hasn't. One has done very well for u18, 19 & 21s but has barely played 45mins men's football. Bamford is undoubtably the better player right now perhaps Sinclair has better potential though

Sinclair is on loan at wigan and on his first game he was a sub and his second he didn't make the match day squad but hey having done so well on loan so far let's throw him in at the deep end. Give Borini or balotelli a go it might add a million to their price if they do half well
