Hypothetical one for the eds. If Lukaku does head off to Chelsea, would Benteke become a viable option for Everton?

mickrude

{Ed002's Note - Everton has shown no interest in Benteke.}

1.) 31 Jul 2016 18:12:02
This should be a win win for all parties. We should offer him to Everton. They have money and he is the closest to Lukaku.

{Ed002's Note - That is not how transfers work at all.}

Yes make are rivals stronger is always a good thing.

4.) 31 Jul 2016 22:11:08
Let's offer them Moreno and Migs too. It will balance out any improvement they see from getting Benteke! 😀.

5.) 31 Jul 2016 22:34:14
Midnight. Someone rings at your door. You hush your family and open the door to find Ian Ayre grinning, with a suspiciously large package tied to his motorcycle.
"Hey friend, heard you have some extra cash lying around. "
.
.
.
How can you refuse?

6.) 31 Jul 2016 23:11:26
Sell a bmw buy a Mercedes and have cash left over . Sounds ok to me.

Are the reports we're close to a deal for the swedish U21 left back true?

mickrude

1.) 03 Jul 2015 20:47:39
No mate.

2.) 03 Jul 2015 21:41:45
What reports?

3.) 04 Jul 2015 08:07:15
Couple of reports on the media watch page on the official website

4.) 04 Jul 2015 21:01:04
Augustinson is decent, but however mutch, as I'm Swedish, I would like to see a Swedish player in our lovely red shirt, I don't think he will ever be LFC material.

Hi Eds. Just wondered if Rob Green had been looked at as a solid back up to Mignolet? Would be fairly cheap and someone to push him for a first team spot

mickrude

{Ed002's Note - Nope.}

1.) 17 May 2015 03:16:46
I think only Chelsea have interest in Green and in my opinion, we really shouldn't move for him. He's made more errors leading to a goal than any other goalkeeper this season, I believe. Would rather we rekindle interest in Begovic who is likely to be available this summer.

10 May 2015 08:20:16
Hi eds now that Burnley are down do you expect Ings future to be determined quickly?

mickrude

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with Burnley. Ings can take as long as he wants to decide. Right now he can talk with non EPL clubs directly.}

1.) 10 May 2015 09:56:30
Ings is too risky for me. You have to remember we are talking about a guy that has shone for Burnley, with the key word being 'Burnley' - who just got relegated.
On the flip side he is only 22, and so has the chance to progress. He would also be costly because he is young and English, which makes him too high a risk.
If we could get him cheaply, as in under £10m, then he would be a great player for a backup striker - maybe to replace Lambert.
We would however still need another 2 top players like Higuain, Lacazette, etc. to replace Mario and Sturridge (whilst injured of course).
Will they join us? Not if they have other choices.
It's going to be a tough summer chaps!

{Ed002's Note - I think an offer of £10M for Ings would eb successful.}

2.) 10 May 2015 10:32:50
Kevman- you are aware Ings is available on a free?? We would only have to pay a compensatory fee of a few mil to get him. You know that don't ya?!
I think Ed02 might be teasing ya a bit with the reply.

3.) 10 May 2015 10:41:37
Question for you Ed002 in regards to him not being able to talk directly with EPL clubs as I don't really understand the rules. For instance, are Liverpool and Burnley able to talk to each other about him? Are Liverpool allowed to deal with his agent etc? Or is it that Ings himself can't specifically talk to us directly? As I said I don't understand what allowed ad what isn't. Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - The discussion with Burnley is only about compensation and not about the player.

The player can talk directly with non-EPL clubs from January on, but not with Liverpool or any other interested sides in England. Liverpool can however talk with his agent, and have been doing so - and there is very strong interest as I have explained.}

4.) 10 May 2015 11:38:43
Thanks for the reply Eds. I thibk Brisbane basically asked the question I should have. Wasn't sure how it'd work

Hi Eds, sorry not Liverpool based but not sure where else to post.

Why do some transfers come up with the "undisclosed fee"? Is there any particular reason clubs don't want to announce the fee involved?

mickrude

{Ed002's Note - It is simply to stop initial questions about fees. All fees are registered on the TMS and are known to those who need to know.}

05 Jul 2017 21:44:09
As a break from the transfer shenanigans. Does anyone see Ian Rush's goal record ever being broken?

346 goals is some haul.

mickrude

1.) 05 Jul 2017 22:06:34
You never know, a "Ronaldo" figure could emerge at a young age and play into his 30's for us.

Extremely unlikely in my opinion with squad rotation etc.

Anyone seen Daniel Agger's new tattoos?

Man obviously still loves the club.

mickrude

1.) 12 Oct 2016 23:26:20
Top player, and a top man.

2.) 13 Oct 2016 00:08:58
He's a true legend isn't he, I'd love to see him back at the club in some sort of coaching role or something.

3.) 13 Oct 2016 03:22:36
He could be the club's official tattooist.

4.) 13 Oct 2016 05:50:52
Tattoos!

5.) 13 Oct 2016 08:59:08
I don't really see him as a legend to be honest, sort of takes away from the true legendary players we've had. Agger was nothing more than a decent defender for me. No doubt injuries stopped him fulfilling his potential and no doubting his obvious commitment, but I wouldn't call him a legend.

6.) 13 Oct 2016 09:44:39
Injuries and a certain Martin Skrtel stopped him fulfilling his potential. When he was fully fit and playing beside Carragher, he was the best defender in the league but it just wasnt often enough.

7.) 13 Oct 2016 10:58:50
Fair points hjikle and Ron.

8.) 13 Oct 2016 11:27:46
Rejected ". Name your price fella. " out of hand from some of the biggest clubs in Europe to stick with Liverpool who literally were in a mess. Anger and Kuyt two players who would play football for free with us.
He should be where Owen currently is at.

9.) 13 Oct 2016 12:09:06
I think the term 'legend' should be reserved for players with unmatched achievements and a certain mystique around them.

Agger was a decent defender and i think the words you are looking for is that he was an excellent servant and a player we were proud to have, but was stopped short of fulfilling his potential.

10.) 13 Oct 2016 14:46:19
he may not be a legend in terms of achievements at the club, bt ill remember him even more than some of the better players simply because of his commitment and loyalty to lfc.

11.) 13 Oct 2016 15:19:36
Dan Agger could have moved and earned a lot more money than he was getting paid for us. I think the lad would play for LFC for free. He deserves a lot of respect as he stayed at the club during periods of terrible times and terrible managers. So for that reason he is a LFC legend.

12.) 13 Oct 2016 22:21:54
I think you're being unusually harsh Ron. Agger was an excellent centre back who would have been up there with Hansen had he not been injury prone. Legend. no. one of the best centre backs I've seen at the club in my lifetime. most definitely.

13.) 14 Oct 2016 11:46:15
No, definitely nowhere near Hansen's level.
Sorry but I watched a lot of Agger. Can't help but admire his love for the club. Great on the ball for a defender, but frequently out of position in general and usually out-competed in the air on crosses.

If you're talking about 'defending', which I am, Agger was 'decent' and Hansen was very very good. If you're talking about ability on the ball then I'd say they were 'similar'.

I can't believe anyone would regard Agger as a better defender than Carragher or Hyypia? It's not even a close comparison IMO.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, most of Agger's positional issues came from playing alongside Skrtel and having to cover for him constantly. His positioning was excellent when he was alongside Carragher. He was not the best in the air but his quality on the ball made up for that, mostly.}

14.) 14 Oct 2016 13:02:19
Guess I''m out on a limb on this one which is fair enough, I just think Hyypia and Carra were far better defenders.
Like Agger as a lad though, just thought we've had much better defenders.

Firmino injured?

mickrude

1.) 16 Sep 2016 19:08:31
Massive miss that.

2.) 16 Sep 2016 19:43:10
Yeah he is, just seen the line up.

3.) 16 Sep 2016 19:49:05
Thigh strain.

4.) 16 Sep 2016 19:51:56
It does feel like a blow to be honest. Time for pip or studge to shine🙏🏻.

5.) 16 Sep 2016 19:55:23
What a nice time to have great players like Coutinho, Sturridge and Mane.

Hi eds - how much does a World Cup coming up play into plans of a player/ agent? Surely playing 40+ games as a starter is better than being a squad player for a "bigger" team to secure a starting place for your country? Or are they not as forward thinking?

mickrude

{Ed002's Note - Players are not going to move a club that he doesn't want to in order to play more to get in to a World Cup squad.}

I'd rather Can sit in there to be honest. He's played there both domestically and internationally (though could have been right back for Germany)

Hi Eds - reading that Flanno has not travelled due to the loan offer from Burnley.

So would that then mean we have Gomez as back up across the back line rather than specifically at CB.

mickrude

{Ed002's Note - See above.}

Wiji (If that's what we're now calling him? ) Has been much much better this season than the majority on here give him credit for.

He is simple in his play which is fine when you have four players ahead of you being creative.

His understanding with Hendo and Lallana has grown in that Can is very much the back up player to those three.

If those three play together then I'd back us to win most games

Think Michael Laudrup was very close to joining back in the day. Can't remember the reason why he turned us down in the end. Not sure if anyone else has heard this story?

Also pretty sure Maradona very nearly signed for Sheffield United in the early 80's (or they were in discussions anyway) .

Agree with the comments eds- but am I the only one who thought the cross for the 2nd could have been cut out? I hate this trend of full backs backing off with their hands behind their backs. Just get stuck in and prevent the cross coming in!

mickrude

{Ed001's Note - yes, I think pretty much everyone thinks that was a mistake, but it seems to be the modern way.}
