Hi Ed1

If you're interested could you do an article on why great teams who really didn't need to cheated (Barca/ juve/ Spain) . Never made sense why you'd risk it when there was no real need.

mad Eric

{Ed001's Note - but they felt they did need to cheat. It was the cheating that made them seem such great teams. Would they have won all they did without it is probably the question and I think the answer is a clear no. Would Spain have been so dominant without the help of PEDs? I don't think they would as they would have struggled to keep up the pace of their football. Would Juve have been so dominant in Italy without PEDs and referee assistance? No, they would have never been able to overwhelm the rest of Italian football the way they did. And Barca were up against Real Madrid and there is no way they could have dominated them the way they did.}

1.) 07 Sep 2023 15:51:33
Very true Ed001, as players get tired concentration is reduced and mistakes happen. PEDs reduce physical fatigue and hence enable mental alertness.

{Ed001's Note - it makes a huge difference in competitions like the World Cup, where a large number of the players are fatigued from a long season as well.}

2.) 07 Sep 2023 17:16:35
You can add Man City to the list.

3.) 07 Sep 2023 17:35:45
Ed, has Pep Guardiola ever had to answer questions about his role in these goings on during his time at barce?

Certainly seeing similarities in the dominance city are starting by to show in the prem. not saying city are cheating in this way… Altho defs had a few questionable decisions over the last few seasons. (Everton comes to mind) .

{Ed001's Note - no, Pep has somehow managed to avoid questions about his role in many questionable things - including the accusations of PED usage by former doctors at Bayern Munich when he was in charge there.}

4.) 07 Sep 2023 17:45:53
Thanks Ed, saw that 03 -05 Juve team play a few times and they had some great players. Was always bit suspicious of the older players in Italy seeming to get a new lease of life.

{Ed001's Note - but how great would they have been without help? Did it give them that extra %age to make them great?}

5.) 07 Sep 2023 18:01:46
We're can I get some of these peds, think I need some for every day life.

{Ed001's Note - most PEDs are perfectly legal to buy over the counter, just not for use in sports.}

6.) 07 Sep 2023 19:01:07
Not just athletes. I used to have a Ped in my young days. The Coppers always chased me on it by the shops ? ?.

7.) 07 Sep 2023 19:11:30
Regarding PEDs, from reading the above I must say I wasn’t aware of the accusations (not all), Eds if you don’t mind if possible answering this question if you are able to.

Has or is there any chatter regarding usage of adrenochrome by players past or present in football?

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea, I haven't really looked into specifics of the allegations, sorry.}

8.) 07 Sep 2023 19:44:22
TY Ed’s 001, Unfortunately it wouldn’t shock me if there was/ is usage of it.

{Ed001's Note - nor me.}

9.) 07 Sep 2023 21:26:09
Kew17. don't like to spread gossip but there were rumours about Hudson-Odoi and that substance approximately 3 years ago. I am sure its more widespread much like blood spinning was in Spain!

10.) 07 Sep 2023 22:54:02
Cheers Ben, blood spinning? Is that similar to what the USA did with Olympic team, remove white blood cells (if correct memory), from blood then inject isolated white cells into the body for enhanced oxygen supply around the body before events?

11.) 07 Sep 2023 23:08:49
If Salah took them, would they be Mo PEDS?

12.) 08 Sep 2023 00:09:57
Essentially yes Kew17, there were reports that it was widespread in Spain but the records were all destroyed by order of the Spanish judge presiding over case. and like that the Spanish football team, barca, Madrid, Nadal etc were not investigated further.

13.) 08 Sep 2023 00:41:38
I think you mean inject red blood cells, Kew.

14.) 08 Sep 2023 03:34:27
Fuentes’ programs, and the Spanish courts decision to destroy the blood samples, is one of the biggest scandals in sport, and it is amazing that things like Spains dominance in football, for example, is not scrutinized more. I think the TUE (therapeutic use exemption) stuff going on now is equally scandalous, completely and utterly exploited, and should be outright banned. But alas, money speaks louder than everything else - Messi’s legacy is completely tainted in my opinion though.

15.) 08 Sep 2023 06:00:35
@Rigsby - leave the room ???.

16.) 08 Sep 2023 07:03:22
TY Ben, IDream and Seano

USA called it blood boosting or it was tagged that name by the press.

17.) 08 Sep 2023 12:12:34
Pep himself was a convicted drugs cheat. Had the charges overturned later on a technicality.

18.) 09 Sep 2023 09:26:21
Years ago I was chatting with Mike Doyle RIP, played for man city in the 70s, and he was saying the club doctor used to give them tablets prior to matches which turned their urine green and gave them a crazy buzz, he said the drawback was evening kickoffs, he'd be sat in bed at 4 am wide eyed like a owl.

25 Jan 2023 11:58:42
So they now think there was something dodgy in Arthur's move to Juv. Wonder what gave it away?

mad Eric

1.) 25 Jan 2023 12:33:22
I'm shocked and stunned, we'll be finding out Jorge Mendes' Wolves dropping £40 million on a striker called Fabio Silva with one senior goal to his name wasn't all above board next.

2.) 25 Jan 2023 14:25:08
Juve have always stunk. Remember in the late 90's when Zdenek Seman (then coach of Roma) accused Juve of doping their players and the club doctor name dropped a certan Zidane and DelPiero as chief culprits? Same with the corruption and match-fixing scandal years they had denied doing for years before that and then got busted for it and got relegated?

Yeah, If it stinks at Juve, there is some truth to it.

3.) 25 Jan 2023 15:20:51
Seman must have had a lot of spunk standing up like that.

4.) 25 Jan 2023 15:23:28
I think I remember seeing that a part of the issue with Juve was how they valued players in swaps and part exchanges on their accounts.

Not surprised Arthur is coming up then as I think he was part of the Pjancic deal.

5.) 25 Jan 2023 17:29:20
Mafia ran.

6.) 25 Jan 2023 19:30:46
That gives me a mental image of Paulie Walnuts pointing at a player and yelling "sign the f****n contract or else! ".

7.) 25 Jan 2023 21:08:50
Is that code LFC8?

8.) 25 Jan 2023 21:15:05
Hello MFDOOM, Disgusting!

12 Nov 2021 11:21:02
Some achievement by Miller great professional👏👏👏, just hope we can find a coaching roll for him. Loved seeing him helping Rhys at WBA last year.

Agreed Opo,

I'm happy that we are competing after all the injuries/ C.V. and trying to win every game. It's just small margins and decisions not going our way at the moment, hopefully that will even itself out over the season. Also helps knowing a few Wigan fans.

On to Villa.

mad Eric

1.) 06 Jan 2021 20:32:04
I know a few, too, Eric.

Just reading about Juve's proposal for the champions League. Is it true ED and if so does it have much support.

Thanks.

mad Eric

{Ed002's Note - I don't recall any specific proposals from Juventus. Two other sides have made a proposal again but has not been discussed by the "elite" sides yet - and probably won't be as there is no meeting scheduled before the end of August. But ideas come and go on a regular basis.}

1.) 05 Apr 2019 19:40:05
Thanks ED. Sounds as if it's a made up story.

{Ed002's Note - What has been suggested that they proposed?}

2.) 05 Apr 2019 22:48:28
Are we at the top table now? You mentioned, I think last year that we were not at these meetings.

{Ed002's Note - No.)

3.) 05 Apr 2019 22:15:02
4 groups of 8 instead of 8 groups of 4 is the big one I think Ed.

{Ed002's Note - I have not seen Thant.}

4.) 06 Apr 2019 07:15:16
The more teams in a group, the more tedious the competition would get. Most of the big games would have already taken place by the time the knockouts come around.

{Ed025's Note - im with you IB..

The £700k will be tax free. Any old sailors will tell you they got out of UK waters asap so they could claim a tax free day. Once knew someone who worked at the American Embassy in Frankfurt and he tried to pay tax in each of the 3 countries but none would take any.

I read that article but he seemed to be confusing FFP with Premier League profit and sustainability. He also said Everton need £35m in to comply. Going to be interesting to see how much teams have lost when all accounts are published.

Apart from scoring, assisting and helping out defensively what has Salah ever done for us.

With the system we are playing it might suit Gomez at left back more than Tsmikas.

Thanks ed

Agree on the full backs and needing to play to our strengths.

I think we have looked good when switching to a double pivot and hope we give it a try when Jones gets back.

Think you make a good point Bergen. Be interesting to see if the ref Who did the Wolves game at the weekend is getting paid in the UAE this week. This all needs clear and transparent.

mad Eric

{Ed002's Note - It is clear and transparent. And in other leagues, Japan, Greece, Saudi and Champions League, Europa League and Europa Cup etc.. It is like the Liverpool supporters don’t t know this.}
