Good morning ed002. Do Dortmund want to sign Musialowski? I'd hope we would prefer a loan or at least a buyback clause.

Would this be part of or separate to Sancho negotiations?

kirkbyred1

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach by Borussia Dortmund to Liverpool for the kid, who has only been at the club for 6 months. There had been prior interest of a different German club but they would have moved on. There are no "Sancho negotiations" between the clubs.}

1.) 04 May 2021 12:35:56
Only way Sancho happens is if Salah or Mane leaves and the thought of that is worrying. The goal contributions of those 2 over the last 4 seasons is very good and I don’t see Sancho scoring 20+ goals on the league. Anyone else have the same worries?

2.) 04 May 2021 13:00:44
I think given Mane’s age and dip over the last year it would be logical to move him on, but I can’t see us going for Sancho to replace him as Jota is already here, I suspect we’d be looking more at a forward to play in the middle.

3.) 04 May 2021 15:15:26
Neither Salah or Mane were as prolific before they played for us. Its Klopps team and system that allows players more opportunities. Im sure Sancho, if he came, would double his annual tally.

4.) 04 May 2021 16:04:51
IDreamofGini, actually Salah was prolific before he joined us, as was Mane (he got double figures two seasons running for Southampton) . In fact Salah was second only to Dybala in Serie A before he joined us.

5.) 04 May 2021 16:05:28
Sancho on the right to let Salah play central makes perfect sense to me, our best scorer is Salah so needs to be in the main position to finish, certainly if means Firmino is out the centre too.

6.) 04 May 2021 17:07:00
Salah, finish?! God love him but a finisher he isn't unfortunately.

7.) 04 May 2021 17:08:31
I don’t think Sancho gets 10 league goals never mind 20.

8.) 04 May 2021 17:16:30
Dybala has never been the highest scorer in Serie A and Salah was never second.
Salah's scored more goals in his first season at Liverpool than in two seasons at Roma.

9.) 04 May 2021 18:13:13
Just to throw in some facts on Mane and Salah before they joined us (this includes goals from all competitions) .

Mane got 25 goals in 75 games for Saints (0.33), for us he has 94 goals in 213 games (0.44) and before this season (when his goal return has been quite poor) he had 81 goals in 170 games (0.48).

Salah had 34 goals in 83 games in Serie A (Fiorentina on loan and then Roma) for a goals per game of 0.41 and for us he has 123 goals in 198 games for a goals per game of 0.62.

So, its quite clear that both Mane's and Salah's goal ration improved markedly at Liverpool compared with their previous clubs.

Whether that holds for Sancho or not is yet to be seen but, for those looking for positives, Sancho would be a lot younger (21) than Mane (24) or Salah (25) were when they joined us, so you could argue that with more Klopp coaching he may adjust to our system even better.

10.) 04 May 2021 21:21:56
Salah and mane both came to a team where their service dramatically improved. Sancho would not be coming to a team where he is getting substantially better service. Unless it would be part of a system change, he would be a gamble at best to replace the goals of salah or mane.

11.) 04 May 2021 22:38:20
Sadio averages 14 league goals a season over his 5 years with us. Would be fairly confident Sancho could match that. Salah on the other hand is unsellable.

12.) 05 May 2021 14:12:35
I feel that mane and firmino have to be sold to fund player arrivals. I think sancho would be a great signing. Personally for me, if we sell those two, as well as some of the fringe players, then we get a creative/ goalscoring midfielder, a proper out and out striker, and pacey wideman to replace mane. I would also say we need a CB but i don’t think we’ll have enough money, so will have to rely on those players coming back from injury next season.
My biggest concern regardless of who we sell or buy is being left behind by the top 4 clubs like city, utd, Chelsea etc, who are already rumoured to be looking at bringing in some top players.

10 Mar 2021 15:53:29
Can anyone confirm or deny that we have approached Leeds and Raphinha'a agent and that he and Deco will be meeting with the Leeds board later this month to discuss our interest.

kirkbyred1

{Ed002's Note - Raphinha (RW) Leeds are expecting offers in the summer and want Michael Olise or Emiliano Buendia to replace him should a significant offer be accepted. I am not aware of any approach or declaration of interest from Liverpool at this time but the suspicion is that Manchester United have discussed him whilst enquiring after another player with his agent.}

1.) 11 Mar 2021 16:20:16
I'd prefer Raphinha to Traore any day of the week. Same type of players, but Raphina knows how to find team mates and the net.

2.) 11 Mar 2021 23:28:57
absolutely ArAY, no question about it.

3.) 12 Mar 2021 13:23:38
100% agree ArAy.

4.) 12 Mar 2021 17:32:10
Raphinha will only come if Salah goes, which is unlikely. Same for Traore.
Have a gut feeling Mane will go in the summer for around 70-75 million euros. It's probably a LW we may be needing, not a RW.

5.) 13 Mar 2021 13:37:59
A lot if hype around Raphinha because he works hard and can pull off a trick or two. Yet he has 21 less goals than Salah, 8 less than Mane, 5 less than Jota and 2 less than Firmino. The same amount as Curtis Jones!

I'm not saying it's all about goals but they're pretty important. He's style over substance for me. At 24 he should have more end product. Hell even Jack Harrison is a better player if you ask me.

Rather give Harvey Elliott chances to back-up Salah than Raphinha.

01 Feb 2021 16:11:02
Hi eds,

Have we actually signed Kaide Gordon yet? If not, is it still likely to happen.

kirkbyred1

{Ed002's Note - No and Yes.}

1.) 01 Feb 2021 16:24:26
Thanks a lot.

2.) 01 Feb 2021 18:34:27
Probably a silly question but with him being a kid does he have to be signed by later tonight or can he be signed anytime?

{Ed002's Note - It is unrelated to the transfer window but there are a whole bunch of other rules the club must meet for him.}

3.) 01 Feb 2021 23:12:11
He has to be signed before his bedtime at 9pm.

31 Jan 2021 17:15:45
Ben Davies from Preston coming in, Sepp to go there on loan?

Anyone know anything about him.

kirkbyred1

{Ed002's Note - Blackburn and Preston have enquired after taking Sepp Van Den Berg on loan. As for Ben Davies, my notes say: (CB) Out of contract with Preston in the summer and unlikely to renew, his agents have been taking the opportunity to talk to clubs about a pre-contract agreement for January. There have been discussions with Rangers, Newcastle, Bournemouth and Celtic.}

1.) 31 Jan 2021 17:32:02
Jesus is he really at the level we need? Ben Davies from Preston.

2.) 31 Jan 2021 17:53:41
Maybe some people said the same about Robertson.

3.) 31 Jan 2021 17:35:37
Didn't Robertson play for a relegated side and Gez for Charlton?
Silly to judge a person just because they are from Preston.

4.) 31 Jan 2021 17:40:53
I’m from Preston and I can confirm he’s a very good championship defender, really good on ball, left sided which is an asset.
Before the C.V. and not with a contract running down he would have gone for £10m plus for sure.
Do I expect him to cement a place at Liverpool? I doubt it but if he gets a few games and does okay we could look to sell on at a tidy profit down the line.

5.) 31 Jan 2021 17:42:08
We did ok with a LB from Hull, D2D. If Edward’s and Klopp want him I’d trust them.

6.) 31 Jan 2021 17:34:58
I'm guessing they tried to focus on English players with no spaces for non Homegrown?

7.) 31 Jan 2021 17:50:51
Thanks ed002.

Just checked a few Preston sites. They rate him as a fine player; a hard tackling, ball playing CB. Not a bad outlay for the reported £2m. Aged 25 so experienced but chance to improve further. Alex Neil desperately wanted him to stay. Not a big name but certainly better than Mustafi or Long.

8.) 31 Jan 2021 18:25:52
I doubt most of us have seen him play. so atleast wait till you see him play before you slate him off. that being said let's support him when he puts on our beloved red! go Liverpool!

05 Jan 2021 23:11:29
Do we have any interest in Felix Uduokhai from Augsburg?

kirkbyred1

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware - he only joined them in the summer.}

Good afternoon eds.

Not LFC related ...........

kirkbyred1

{Ed002's Note - So wrong page.}

1.) 02 Jun 2021 14:18:24
Not LFC related but KFC related.

Did you know that the Colonel actually stole his recipe for fried chicken from a gentleman called Siegfried Pietersen? It was Pietersen who actually put the (sieg) fried into Fried Chicken.

Without him, a whole planet would have had to make do with plain old boiled or roasted chicken.

The story goes that Siegfried, who was a cannibal from Papua New Guinea, was actually boiling up some oil for his evening meal (deep fried crispy kale - he was watching his cholesterol by following a variation of the 5:2 diet, and was only eating humans 2 days a week) when his pet chicken - Clucky (it was a quieter age when people lived a simple life and didn't spend too much time coming up with clever and innovative names for their pets) - was trying to fly, took off briefly but was caught in the backdraft of the kale flames (kale can flare up nastily if you don't take care when frying it - you have been warned) .

Clucky had previously been rolling around in Siegfried's spices container - this being the days of yore, separating spices in individual tins had not yet been thought of, so all spices were just chucked in a small box. So when Clucky got caught in the kale-draft, he had actually been coated in some delicious flavours.

Siegfried was very upset, in fact he was beside himself with grief as Clucky had been his childhood companion (chickens lived longer in those days, with surprisingly tender flesh right into their dotage) . Fortunately, his wife, Brunhilda, had the foresight to pluck Clucky out of the pot before he burnt. They shared a sombre meal, honouring Clucky's memory whilst savouring his moist, fragrant flesh.

Now Siegfried and Brunhilda were spied upon by their nosy and deceitful neighbour, Dean Saunders. Dean stole the spice box and ran off with it. He ran so far that he ended up in Kentucky where, after a name change some generations later to Sanders (as there had been a spate of cattle rustlers called Saunders and Dean's descendants wanted to distance themselves from the whole unsavoury incident whilst still maintaining their links back to old Dean from PNG), a small boy called (bizarrely! ) "Colonel" finally got his mitts on the family Spice Box (which still bore some traces of poor clucky despite having had the spices replaced on 17 occasions and the box replaced on 13 occasions, as it was still the SAME spice box - using Trigger-logic, which was a precursor to Trigonometry) .

"Colonel" (who interestingly enough joined the army and was promptly thrown out for having ideas above his station and also because people got confused by addressing Private Colonel Sanders) eventually started selling his chicken and got very rich. So rich, in fact, that he could afford a white suit and hat in an age when greens and browns were more de-rigeur and much more affordable.

An interesting twist to the story was that Siegfried and Brunhilda's descendants eventually moved from PNG to South Africa, having developed a preference for Wildebeast over human flesh, and eventually they sired a brilliant, if self centred cricketer, who claimed to be English.

I Seem to remember his name was Kevin, so that leads me to my question. Ed002, will Kevin De Bruyne be joining Liverpool this season? :)

2.) 02 Jun 2021 14:29:31
You have waaaaay to much time on your hands Zed 😂.

3.) 02 Jun 2021 14:42:25
Ed002, have I offended you at some point?

I say this because I know I have posted to you, at all times, with the utmost respect. Sometimes you ignore or refuse to post my posts (none of which flout guidelines), other times you post them in wrong threads so they get lost and yet others still your answers are brusque at best. I am in my fifties and perhaps old fashioned but if I have posted 'in the wrong place' would it not seem polite to tell me where I should post or indeed post my thread there and say so in your reply?

Your opinions and insights are highly valued here by me and many others and if we as a collective frustrate you at times with repeated posts of the same question or random names, then I can understand that is a waste of your time. What I posted (I thought) was an interesting transfer related question that I and maybe others would have appreciated your answer.

But ok I get the message, I'll go elsewhere because I'd rather you carry on here so that others can get value from what you share.

{Ed002's Note - I would have thought it was obvious where it should be posted from the clubs involved. It is nothing whatsoever to do with Liverpool. Why do people in their 50s need additional instruction? Perhaps you will become wise with age?}

4.) 02 Jun 2021 15:13:03
I always wondered what KFC’s secret recipe was. Cheers Zed.

5.) 02 Jun 2021 15:17:06
Not LFC related but surely the BBC Sport headline “ Ancelotti exit a cold shower on Everton ambitions “ should have read “Ancelotti exit a warm shower on Everton ambitions “? 🤣.

6.) 02 Jun 2021 16:22:45
More like golden shower on Everton’s ambition.

7.) 02 Jun 2021 15:39:04
I don't really care what spices KFC are using, but i really want to know what "herbs" your dealer is selling you, Zeddicus!

8.) 02 Jun 2021 16:42:24
A golden shower, perhaps.

9.) 02 Jun 2021 16:52:32
Brilliant as always zed.

10.) 02 Jun 2021 16:59:07
I tried to be a little more nuanced about the inference lads, lol.

11.) 02 Jun 2021 17:07:22
Is Zeddicus Indykalia? He seems to know an awful lot about KFC.

12.) 02 Jun 2021 18:58:00
Z has been playing much too much GTA, or he's been listening to Zappa hence the first initial being the same is he the man from Utopia?

13.) 02 Jun 2021 20:38:26
Thanks Zed. This website will soon take over from Wikipedia as the prime encyclopedia of trivia and general knowledge of a wide and dubious variety.

14.) 02 Jun 2021 21:10:02
Wow. I’ve come out of semi retirement for that gem. Nice one zed you lunatic.

15.) 02 Jun 2021 23:00:19
aoe! Ed001 always thought you were Salah, I thought you and Zed were the same person. You two should get together and write a sequel to Little Book of Lies. Instant best seller.

16.) 03 Jun 2021 08:18:07
It's the place for multiples. Multiple personalities. Multiple usernames. Multiple mood swings. Multiple interpretations. 🤪.

{Ed001's Note - you know I actually had a job where I had to put the recipe booklets for KFC together? I had to sign about 45 NDAs and other waivers to promise not to read or repeat anything I happened to see in the folders as we put them together. They were very secretive about everything. I only really remembered that the nuggets were just all the leftover bits ground down and stuck together, though obviously I am not allowed to tell anyone that....}

27 May 2021 12:45:33
LFC top of the fair play table for fifth time running. Only 4 red cards in that time.

Also fewer cards than any other team in top 5 leagues.

Proud of that tbf.

kirkbyred1

1.) 27 May 2021 13:16:20
We are a well coached team, steeped in respect of the opposition, authority and on the pitch ethics. I'm proud as well.

2.) 27 May 2021 13:04:24
Tells you a lot about the maturity of the players and the coaching by the staff. I'm sure players are baited all the time during games, and am happy to see our players don't fall for it.

3.) 27 May 2021 14:25:13
I thought Klopp was a scallywag, a master of everything underhanded.

4.) 27 May 2021 15:18:25
Only in his approach to transfers it seems.

Everything else is pretty exemplary. No one is perfect but it's hardly worth losing sleep over.

5.) 27 May 2021 16:11:00
I read also Liverpool had the most VAR decisions go against them. To finish 3rd with all the injuries, having VAR go against us and to have played the fairest football speaks volumes about the boys and what Klopp has done.

{Ed025's Note - yeah but lets not forget VAR won you the title last year SG84, without it you would have finished about 6th so i dont think you can have many complaints mate..

6.) 27 May 2021 16:16:07
JH regarding transfers, I can't argue with you, man. The issue for me is that Klopp is a very honorable, decent and honest man. I don't know why he engages in these tapping up shinanigans cos IMO, he does not need to eng.

{Ed025's Note - that is a contadiction of terms oli, honourable, decent honest men dont tap up, because that is cheating mate..

7.) 27 May 2021 17:13:09
And yet he is an honourable, honest decent man! . the mind boggles🤯.

8.) 27 May 2021 17:19:41
does that not show were laying a glove on teams?

9.) 27 May 2021 21:05:03
Ed25, give your head a wobble.
VAR won us the title.
To be factual.
Without VAR we win the league by 18 points.
With VAR we won by 18 points
So VAR did not win us the league.
Wobble Wobble.

{Ed025's Note - just a bit of friendly banter langland, i have to keep you lot with your feet on the ground or you get big headed mate.. :)

10 May 2021 12:31:22
Good afternoon ed002. I read somewhere here recently that you said Harvey Elliott couldn't play for us for the remainder of the season due to being contracted to Blackburn until June.

I recall in 15/ 16 Sergi Canos spending a season on loan with Brentford and after their season ended he returned to LFC and played against WBA in the last game.

My point is have the rules changed since 15/ 16 or did Brentford agree to terminating Canos' contract early? Does this in theory create a precedent for Blackburn to agree to terminate Elliott's contract early and allow him to feature for us.

kirkbyred1

{Ed002's Note - The rules are the period of the loan is fixed unless the FA agree the early termination - which have been allowed in the past where the owning club has injuries. There is no precedent, there are rules to be followed.}

1.) 10 May 2021 16:54:02
It’s a terrible rule. We own the player, Blackburn no longer need him. It would have been great for the lad to get a couple of substitute appearances.

09 May 2021 14:38:39
Good Afternon eds. Do you know when the 'punishment' for Real, Barcelona and Juve is going to be announced and any inklings as to what it may be - CL ban for a year, no transfers for a year?

kirkbyred1

{Ed002's Note - I know what discussions have happened and know what legal advice was - but not the schedule.}

1.) 09 May 2021 15:07:17
Thanks ed002.

2.) 09 May 2021 18:30:16
So. what was it then eds?! Lol.

{Ed002's Note - Unimportant to you.}

09 May 2021 02:56:32
Vlahovic scored another brace today against Lazio. I would love to see him join. Seems to get better with every game.

kirkbyred1

{Ed0666's Note - do you think he’d fit into our style of play Kirkby?

1.) 09 May 2021 04:47:41
Hi ed0666. I think he'd need to adapt to us or we'd need to adapt to him. I see a lot of Torres in him so maybe a 4231 would be best at first but I see his ceiling as very high and reports suggest he doesn't mind grafting in matches and training.

Do you see any of the front three moving on in the summer?

{Ed0666's Note - yes mate I see Mane leaving or salah if Mbappe leaves PSG

2.) 09 May 2021 04:50:34
I think Vlahovic would do very well in a team that crosses the ball as much as we do.

3.) 09 May 2021 05:51:08
Salah is off i believe too. We will get in someone huge too but we need to have CL.
I think we will sell a lot of players this summer and have 3
big signings.

4.) 09 May 2021 10:32:16
Selling Salah would be catastrophic imo. We need to be moving on the other two forwards before we move on him, they both shoulder much of the blame for where we are this season. Going into next season with Mane and Firmino starting alongside a forward inferior to Salah would make our problems exponentially worse, not better. Unless we’re intending on getting Haaland or Mbappe with the Salah money he simply cannot be allowed to leave before the other two do.

As for Vlahovic, i think he has everything he needs to succeed in our team. Crisp passing to link up, good feet and touch to keep the ball, good height to make use of Robertson and Trent but most of all, fantastic anticipation. And he’s doing it all in a top league for a rubbish team, all at the age of 21.

We haven’t played with a big target man before but i can’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work, he doesn’t need to play every single game, he just needs to be a much better option than Origi and someone who Klopp will actually trust to put in the team. Firmino has never been the fastest player in the world either.

He’s a ‘must sign’ for me.

5.) 09 May 2021 10:39:52
Who do you think we will try and bring in to replace? Surely we would need 2 in, a replacement and a Striker.

Respected African Football journalist James Nalton reports that he will be joining Sporting Lisbon on loan next season and a work permit should be a formality when he turns 18 in March.

Hi ed002. I've just read Ryan Bertrand is leaving Southampton. Is he looking for guaranteed first team football or would he be an option to provide competition for Robertson? This would allow Tsimikas to leave (albeit for a fraction of what we paid for him) and give us another homegrown player in the squad.

kirkbyred1

{Ed002's Note - Ryan Bertrand is not moving to Liverpool.}

Some people are calling Vlahovic the 'Serbian Ibrahimovic' but I think that's due to his height and build. I think he's got the look of Torres about him; fast despite his height, strong, excellent first touch and a natural finisher. He also presses well and has that handy knack of being in the right place at the right time.

His passing could be better but he's only 21 so has bags of room for improvement. In short I think he's the real deal and has had a great season at a frankly average Fiorentina. I'd say 40 mil is over par but if we were to sell Mane (obviously a big if) then I reckon we could buy Malen and Vlahovic, and for less combined than someone like Sancho!

After the likely sales of Shaq, Origi and Taki, that would leave us with 6 forwards in Salah, Bobby, Jota, Elliott, Malen and Vlahovic. Pretty decent.

Add to that Konate and Bissouma and I'd be quietly confident about 2021/ 22.

kirkbyred1

{Ed0666's Note - seeing as they want circa 40 milIon for Vlahovic I doubt it mate. What’s you’re impression of Valohovic Kirkby?

It won't happen but I'd love Lamptey from Brighton. Is good on both sides and offers immediate chances for rest and rotation. Still not receovered from injury though, would cost a fair bit and as I said won't happen but he'd be my fantasy choice.

The last run of games where we've seen how good Thiago really is, shows to me how valuable Fabinho is. He's certainly the best DM in the PL. Are Kimmich, Casemiro better? Only real way to know would be if they played in the PL too. I have my opinion no doubt others will have theirs.
