Eds, the BBC are reporting a 12 million fee is agreed. However, I don't want to discuss figures. My question is, is Suso part of this deal? AND if so, is it a loan or permanent move?

DanTD

{Ed001's Note - I don't know yet mate sorry.}

Ed001, the reported interest in Javier Manquillo (a RB) might indicate that someone (perhaps QPR?) have stepped up their interest in Johnson do you know if this is the case?

(I know he's available just wondering if you know whether a move is on the horizon?)

DanTD

{Ed001's Note - it was on hold until they sorted the Caulker and Rio moves, so it is perfectly possible they will finish the deal quickly now. The main sticking point was wages, but they were holding out a long deal for him, which should be enough to clinch it. If we hadn't qualified for the Champions League, I expect it would already be done. It is in his hands now though.}

Eds, I've heard Thorgan Hazard has more potential than his older brother but needs better management than he's getting at the moment and he'll struggle to get into the Chelsea any time soon (with his older brother and Salah in particular ahead of him). What is his future and is there any chance of a bid from Liverpool? He would seem a perfect fit, young with resale value and plays the positions we are looking to strengthen.

DanTD

{Ed002's Note - He will return to Chelsea in the summer and there is a plan to loan him out to an EPL side next season. He is not going to be sold.}

Ed001, not quite sure I believe the Vida reports, how do you see him fitting in our squad and if he were to arrive would you expect others to move on?

DanTD

{Ed001's Note - he can play anywhere across the back line, so would provide cover wherever needed.}

Ed001, I was just reading an interview with Moreno and it was interesting to hear his thoughts on the season gone by, he talks about his change in attitude and how he is now trying to focus on when to attack rather than to always attack.

Anyway, my question is how do you rate Moreno's performances this season? Do you still see left back as a "priority position"? How do you think he has improved?

DanTD

{Ed001's Note - he is much improved, though he still has a lot to work on, such as not lunging in recklessly. He has done enough to ensure left back is no longer a priority and shown he is listening and improving. However he does need to improve a lot more before I would be happy with that position for the long term.

I have noticed a marked improvement in his decision making, he does show more thought with his runs, being more of a support attacker most of the time. In the last game he was more attacking in the first half when played at wing back, then sat back for the second half until Milner came on and then he did go forward when Milner dropped in to cover. He is playing like he is thinking about what he is doing, rather than just charging forward mindlessly.}

It’s nice to see a player buckle down, not complain when he’s not playing and get his just rewards in the end. Fair played to the lad I thought his Liverpool career was over in the summer but he’s proved a lot of people wrong.

2.) 17 Nov 2017 00:25:13
Good assessment there ed001. I’m all for someone that keeps their head down and works hard to improve, instead of just leaving when the going gets tough. Much more deserving of the shirt imo.

{Ed001's Note - thank you and I totally agree, a good attitude can make a lot of difference in the long term.}

3.) 17 Nov 2017 05:04:25
Klopp effect you tthink ed1?

{Ed001's Note - to a degree, though it is much down to the lad himself.}

Ed001, with Howedes rumours doing the rounds i just wanted to ask whether you have seen a lot of him? If so, do you believe he would a good acquisition and improve our defence as a whole?

DanTD

{Ed001's Note - I have not seen much of him in a couple of years, but my impression of him was never particularly good. Always seemed a very similar player to Klavan to me, decent enough defender until he had to face pace, then he was torn to pieces. No idea how he has improved with experience since then though. He might have learnt to deal with it better.}

Can't understand why we aren't in for Wesley hoedt plays very similar to vvd and sure we could pick him up for around 15 mil. Saints will probably buy him then sell him next year for 14 trillion. I think we must have Greek scouts at the club.

2.) 18 Aug 2017 08:50:42
Wesley Hoedt isn't similar to Van Dijk at all, other than they are both Dutch. He is poor in the air and physically isn't that strong.

A question for Ed002, hope we've been well enough behaved for this one Ed! I'm just wondering what are the deciding factors in a club being able to spend top dollar in terms of transfer fees but limited in terms of wages?

I'll use West Ham as an example, in the summer they bid a not insignificant amount for Lacazette but I remember you stating that they were banking on reasonable wage demands. Why was this the case? Why could they bid so much for the player but not afford the wages?

Just interested Ed! Thanks.

DanTD

{Ed002's Note - There is a need to balance expenditure and wages in terms of FFP. You can get away with expenditure with a high income but then you can still be constrained by wages under the FFP regulations. This is really not a matter for the LFC pages.}

1.) 16 Nov 2016 16:09:44
I know that Ed but I appreciate the response anyway! Put it down to naive curiosity.

Ed001 do you mind providing us with one of your almost requisite post match reports?

As for myself I thoroughly enjoy games like these were we get to see our younger players. It's also very refreshing to see these players go out with a plan and a purpose as opposed to a team just being thrown together because you want to rest a few key players which is a complaint I have about a lot of managers.

I can't really fault anyone except for an uncharacteristically weak challenge Lucas for the goal, but I'm sure Ward was very happy to have the experience of Lucas and Toure in front of him all game.

I was particularly pleased for Ibe given some of the negative press he's had from our own boys recently and I think Klopp brought him back in to the team at the right time.

Finally I'd like to say how great it is to see Sturridge with a bit more of a spring in his step, his back heel was genuis and real demonstration of the quality his brings to the team, that extra edge. He arguably should of had at least one more if not more but he had a great game for me.

DanTD

{Ed001's Note - I don't know what to say about that game, it felt very much like a pre-season friendly, with no real fire to it, until the closing stages. With little to really play for from Bournemouth, I could understand them struggling to motivate themselves, but every one of our players should have been giving their all to try and force their way in to the line up for the Derby and Villareal matches. I have to say, despite the win, I was a little disappointed, it was just a stroll in the park.

Ward showed a real improvement over Mignolet in distribution, but he flaps at crosses into the box, didn't handle the pressure well. Did little to put pressure on Migs, as he should have done, but it was good to see him get a game.

The rest of the team pretty much strolled through the game, with Bournemouth not really turning up, there was little from us either. I can't stress enough how disappointed I was with our lack of urgency, as they were clearly there for the taking and we could have racked up a big win if the players had been up for it. Still, a win is a win, but those players all need a kick up the arse and a reminder that they have their futures to play for.}

1.) 18 Apr 2016 10:26:54
It was the one thing I was a bit dissapointed with - when we were 2-0 up we lazily passed it around like it was job done. we all know that's never the case in the PL and we almost paid a price.

2.) 18 Apr 2016 18:25:09
Ed, though I agree that we could have attacked more, I somehow feel they resorted to 'safe' game, since most of them were young and don't play together very often than they should.
Ojo, Allen and Sturridge though, tried to make things happen with a bit of urgency.

3.) 18 Apr 2016 19:30:36
Cant fault you there, Ed. the fact that it looked like a friendly jumped out at me after about 15-20 minutes and indeed, we should have put 5 past them but a win`s a win.

{Ed001's Note - it just seemed a shame, it shouldn't be about doing enough, it should be about doing your best. Especially when you are fringe players getting a rare start. You should be fired up, desperate to prove you are ready to get more starts.}

It's not a problem position for us, we have VVD, Lovren, Matip, Klavan, Gomez as well as Masterson who is well thought of if I recall correctly.

I'd personally see Matip moved on, Klavan kept as a back as I think he's a good lad, professional and to his credit, a good Cb when he's called upon. Even if this happened though there still wouldn't be room for Vida.

Actually Shents I believe there is something to it, there was a large thread on Reddit about it posted by a South Korean. It was his assertion that professional athletes are only exempt from military service if they either win a medal at the olypmics or win their sports prestigious competition (I think) .

It made for an interesting read, although I don't know how true it is. Perhaps Ed002 could fill us in.

DanTD

{Ed002's Note - I explained it on the Spurs page a while back, but it is sort of as you say.}

I'm pretty sure what they said translates to "some information regarding the transfer is false", which could be any number of things, although I could be wrong.

Ed002 just out of curiosity was Manchester United's other target Savic?

{Ed002's Note - Not for that position.}

Might not be settling in the country necessarily but settling in the team. He's being asked to play a little differently to how he has previously and it sounds like he might be struggling with it, remember it's harder to settle when you aren't playing well or playing at all for that matter.

Let's all give it some time, we know Fabinho has qualities so we'll just have to wait for the big reveal.

Walter, genuine question, I assume at this point you're just playing a character? I just don't understand how anyone could really believe Arsenal will finish above us this season, I mean it could well happen but there's no logic to it.

I think an older experienced head should come in, now that someone might not necessarily provide any help to Allison in terms of technique ect but they could prvoide help with regards to the mental aspect of the game and they'd be invaluable to the likes of Grabara.

I suppose it will somewhat depend on who leaves in terms of forwards. In terms of actual strikers we have; Firmino, Sturridge, Ings, Origi, Solanke and Brewster. I would like to see Brewster given opportunities but that'll mean other forwards would need to move on.

Two other things to note. Fekir is capable of playing a similar role to Firmino in our team so could rotate with Firmino if he were to arrive. Secondly, Brewster is out until around Christmas I believe? So will miss a large chunk of the season anyway and will miss any opportunities he could have had in the league cup.

Conclusion, I don't think we'll see much of Brewster this season due to fitness and personnel constraints (the latter could well change before the end of the window though) .
