In FPL, close to 50% have chosen Salah, but only 3.9% have chosen Mané. What do you guys think. Is it to risky to go with the cheeky Sadio pick?

Have to play for those differentials my man. However Salah is simply a must because he’s the biggest banker in the game. If you aren’t putting Salah as captain for every Liverpool home game then you haven’t been paying attention for the last 4 years. Maybe find a way to get them both in if possible?

2.) 08 Aug 2021 11:43:09
AW I agree, it is impossible to leave out Salah, especially when the price difference is only 0.5. If Mané was valued at 11 or 10.5, then maybe. But Salah will take penalties so that alone would justify quite a bit of money (well above 0.5). I still feel like 3.9% picking Mané is shockingly low though. I believe Mané will have a better season than last year.

Just had a look at the prices and i agree, can’t believe Mane’s has not gone down after last year and like you say he doesn’t take penalties. Picking him would be very risky and definitely isn’t worth it imo.

Chakob - The short answer is no, do not pick Mané if it is at the expense of Salah. Salah is not only the only banker player on the game, he almost never picks up knocks that sideline him for a week (a 12.0 transfer due to injury is a pain to solve), and he takes penalties.
I think Mané may return to somewhere near his best this season, but 12.0 is overpriced when you are relying purely on in-play actions for points.

Salah on pens.

Seeing the various responses to Liverpools form at the moment, seems to me to be a symptom on the condition of the modern world. The need for instant gratification. The constant view on problems as something to be fixed, solved, replaced. Only later do we realize that when we inevitably meet another problem the cycle continues. How many managers have been sacked in the premier league the last couple of years? Can we not instead look at our problems as “that which we must face”?

There is a general lack of recognising struggle as being inherent to life and therefore also to the game that we love. If we are to view football as ‘only’ an antidote to our struggles — a relief from the daily burdens of existence — We will inevitably lose something along the way. Human beings have many emotions. I prefer to stay in touch with all of them.

No one is going to remember this game in a couple of years? It is only a small instance in a journey. A journey that wouldn’t be satisfactory had we not faced our problems. It is my hope that this loss at Anfield will serve to be beneficial. The record came to a stop. Is it not perhaps a good thing? The players have looked scared of losing. Now they might realize that it is not something to fear, only one of three possible outcomes to every game. Hopefully we’ll continue this season without fear.

YNWA.

I'm all for being positive but there's no point having our head in the clouds.

We're struggling, we're not playing well.

Should we go over the top and throw the baby out with the bath water? Of course not.

But I think people have the right to be concerned with what they're seeing at the moment.

We will bounce back eventually. But with the FA cup in a few days, Leipzig on the horizon an some very difficult league fixtures we have to improve sharpish if we don't want this season going down the toilet. I think that's obvious.

I don’t think all the motivational we will come good can’t see nothing wrong fans have their heads in the clouds. Some of them have them firmly buried in the sand. Of course we can be concerned, you bet your life Klopp and the owners are. This isn’t a blip. This is over 19 games where we now have less than a 50% win record.

Not entirely related to the match itself, but I thought it was pretty cool that Firmino turned the kit into a turtleneck.

As a result of this lovely transfer window it seems like managing Liverpool on Fifa 19 won’t be as much fun. This, because the squad looks crazy nice. I truly don’t know who I’d buy, haha. Investing in a backup right back doesn’t sound too stylish.

Haha true mate.

Definitely buying Mbappe! Unfortunately what Firmino does doesn't translate very well to Fifa so he's always going to be worse than he should be.

Could definitely improve on 3 of our 4 defenders in Fifa terms, and our midfield starters will be fine but only Ox might be in the 80's of the rest of them, so lots of work to do to bring in backup/ youth or people who can push our starters into backup roles.

There you go, lots to play with!

Great read ed! Thank you very much. How good was Hleb as a footballer? I remember him as a classy player, but I was so young at the time that I will readily admit that I probably liked him because of his name.

chakob

{Ed001's Note - very good but injury-prone. You are remembering him right, he was very classy.}

You mean: Some people are always looking to improve our play. Putting on Matip at the end invited on pressure and it probably would have been 2-2 had it not been for a wrong call from the ref.
