Conor Gallagher is a superb player. Wonder if Chelsea would be open to selling him next season. Two priorities for me this summer would be Henderson and Manes long replacements. Bellingham or Gallagher and Raphinha the dream. I’d love to see us start to produce players the way Chelsea do. We’ve got a good crop in the academy now it seems though.

ZagrebScouser

{Ed002's Note - He is one of the players Chelsea will look to integrate next season.}

1.) 12 Dec 2021 21:08:58
yes we should copy Chelsea's approach. certainly helps if we want to sell these kids for profit.

2.) 13 Dec 2021 13:19:52
Why wouldn't you want to sell them for profit? Not all can make it to the 1st team.

3.) 13 Dec 2021 20:24:33
Liverpool have a very good recent history of selling players at a big profit. You make a lot more selling an experienced player like pipco than a kiddie.

4.) 13 Dec 2021 22:57:43
Declan Rice is the successor to Jordan henderson. He covers some ground that kid a very good player imo. Love him at Liverpool.

5.) 14 Dec 2021 03:59:37
I always get the impression that Rice is one-paced, I would prefer Bellingham.
But, yes, Gallagher looks the biz as well.

6.) 14 Dec 2021 09:38:27
I have zero problems selling players for profit. I hate the idea that people leverage that strategy to say that FSG 'only' buy cheap in order to sell for a profit.

7.) 14 Dec 2021 16:37:59
Bellingham is the successor to Hendo. The boy has it all and is still a kid. Highly unlikely I know but one can dream. Having said that, Declan is a class act as well.

8.) 14 Dec 2021 22:37:08
Morton is the one to replace Henderson for me.

Surprised we didn’t look at Adama if he was available on a loan with an option to buy for £25m. I’m not a fan but we know Klopp is. Think he’d have done very well at wing back under Conte if i’m honest so rather he went Barcelona than there.

ZagrebScouser

1.) 27 Jan 2022 19:50:44
Isn't it an obligation buy as opposed to option?

2.) 27 Jan 2022 20:22:40
Personally I’m glad we didn’t go in for Traore. For me he doesn’t suite our style of play and against teams who park the bus his speed would be of no use.

Jota’s heading ability has actually exposed how many goals we were missing from headers from the amount of crosses Robbo and Trent put into the box week in week out and even Vvd has more goals than any other defender in the league since signing for us and he missed almost a full season through injury.

I’m not sure what player fits the bill as I’m not talking Andy Carroll but if there’s a quality forward or midfielder out there that ticks the boxes and scores lots of headed goals they would be a good signing to give us a plan B.

3.) 27 Jan 2022 20:37:45
Stuie, it's reported as no obligation, even a conditional one if he makes X amount of appearances. They're paying his wages and presumably some fee for the loan to Wolves.

Be interesting to see do they actually take the option.

4.) 27 Jan 2022 20:44:38
Klopp really like him and obviously wanted him, I think it goes to show just how skint we are if we didn’t even push for him when his fee is that small.

5.) 27 Jan 2022 22:21:13
Or maybe he didn’t and it was over stated.

6.) 27 Jan 2022 23:12:51
I think we’ll get a midfielder in summer tbh lads and replace Gini. I can’t see us buying anyone else without flogging someone first.

7.) 27 Jan 2022 23:32:25
La Masia couldn’t teach him, but now they want him back? If this move happens it proves that professional world class club employees know less than some posters on this site. Doesn’t it?

8.) 27 Jan 2022 23:36:10
Klopp’ was a stated admirer of Traore but I’m not sure his admiration went to the depths of his determination to get Van Dijk for instance, otherwise Liverpool would have undoubtedly moved this month.
If Traore had stayed at Wolves until the Summer, we’d have probably had a go then but why pay £25 million plus when he could have been potentially free in a few months time?
I think we’ll do business in Summer, a couple of signings for the first team hopefully rather than squad fillers so to speak.

9.) 28 Jan 2022 01:28:52
Klopp’s ‘admiration’ for Traore is a story trotted out time and time again by Ed002 to wind up posters on here. He’s also doing it with Renato Sanches. Absolutely nonsensical.

10.) 28 Jan 2022 07:55:31
Klopp is quite open in interviews about his admiration for Traore.
Liking a player doesn't mean he wants to sign him though.

11.) 28 Jan 2022 08:15:59
I have an admiration for Megan Fox and I’ve been quite open about it.

But If she was to get in touch asking me on a date it doesn’t mean I’d leave my wife for her.

Well that’s what I tell the wife anyway 😜.

12.) 28 Jan 2022 08:24:10
In a word, Diaz is why.

07 Jan 2022 16:38:18
David Ornstein saying we’re interested in Tchouameni in the summer. He’d be a great signing. Play as an 8 with Thiago or fill in as DM when Fabinho isn’t available.

ZagrebScouser

1.) 07 Jan 2022 19:31:02
It won’t happen. As soon as we offer £2.50 a week instalments and Chelsea/ City/ United/ PSG come in and offer the full transfer fee in one bit we’ll be off. Our midfield targets are Kessie and Sanches as they’re cheap.

2.) 08 Jan 2022 01:04:58
we also don't need him.

22 Dec 2021 19:00:23
Our squads players aren’t the best we know that but i’m disappointed with that team it’s a trophy we’re favourites for why not go full strength and rotate for Leeds. A semi final on the line! I’d be asking questions if a trophy isn’t delivered this season.

ZagrebScouser

1.) 22 Dec 2021 19:10:27
Rotate for Leeds? And if we don’t get 3 points that day we’re 7 behind city? I’m surprised beck isn’t playing left back to help out kostas with robbos ban. Also abit underwhelmed Gordon is on the bench so neco plays who is probably better suited to the rw role but he’s not the talent that Gordon is.

2.) 22 Dec 2021 19:15:06
Leeds has to be the priority and the best place to play young players is in these competitions, league and champions league always take priority over domestic cups. If we be lose tonight it’s not going to have any bearing on the rest of the season.

3.) 22 Dec 2021 19:48:49
There’s a semi final on the line. Mane, Trent and Salah could have played. If Minamino Neco etc can’t come in for a team playing awfully at home in the league i don’t know why we have them.

4.) 22 Dec 2021 20:12:51
I had tickets for tonight with my son fall through this morning. Looking at the game so far it’s actually softened the blow as the boy was devastated.

5.) 22 Dec 2021 20:14:00
The rewards for winning the League Cup are the young lads who need experience getting game time and the opportunity to learn without having to worry about a win being vital.

If it stands Williams and Morton and Koumetio and Woltman etc for next season (or this season in the PL or CL for that matter) then that’s the real benefit for the club.

6.) 22 Dec 2021 20:36:27
No the reward is the trophy. None of those players have a long term future at the club. There’s a loan system if they need games. Where are all the young players we threw away cup games for the last few years now? When the final is on in a few months no one will care Koumetio got a start.

7.) 22 Dec 2021 20:40:52
Zagreb get s grip. If Liverpool win the League cup but lose the league and CL it will have been a very poor season.

8.) 22 Dec 2021 20:50:52
But it would be a better season than not winning anything again. Klopps 3rd last season, we need to start picking up more trophies.

9.) 22 Dec 2021 20:52:37
Mark that would mean every season under Klopp bar 2 have been very poor.

10.) 22 Dec 2021 21:32:56
I have to say that I disagree Zagreb. Player welfare comes first and giving experience to youngsters of playing for their club at Anfield trumps playing games in Division 2 or the Scottish premier league.

To state that none of them has a future at Liverpool says a bit more about the fans than the players imho.

11.) 22 Dec 2021 21:41:22
Need to sack him the Zagreb. He's absolutely rubbish. Get rid. Only 4 trophies. Man's a fraud.

12.) 22 Dec 2021 21:42:43
Cheers Liverpool. Boys devastated again 🤣.

13.) 22 Dec 2021 22:00:42
Say you have no footballing knowledge without saying you have no footballing knowledge.

14.) 22 Dec 2021 22:04:42
How's that for you Zagreb? Don't be handing your C. V in anytime soon mate 😀😀.

15.) 22 Dec 2021 22:08:48
Say you’re on a high horse or live in an ivory tower without saying you’re on a high horse or live in an ivory tower 🙄.

16.) 22 Dec 2021 22:10:41
Well we got our semi final and rested players for Leeds, win win! It would be good if we can win the league cup again it has been too long since we have won one of the domestic cups, and I think this would be great for the team morale in that if we were to win it all of the squad would have played a big role.

17.) 22 Dec 2021 22:30:34
Rested players, got through, but of excitement for the fans. Job done.

18.) 22 Dec 2021 22:46:29
I think Zagreb needs to support another team. If you want a team that takes the league cup seriously then it will invariably be a team that has no chance in the league or champions league.
It’s a chance to blood youngsters alongside a few fringe players and the odd first teamer.
As the game panned out with Taki getting an injury time equaliser and Kelleher the penalty hero I’d say it’s job done. Got through and given some fringe players and kids a boost.
That being said I wouldn’t have minded if we’d lost tonight we have to think of the bigger picture and risking too many first team players in the middle of a C.V. crisis to get to a Carabau Cup semi is just ludicrous.

19.) 22 Dec 2021 23:19:21
None of them players have a future at our club😆😆. fans are nuts these days, immensely proud of both the players and the brilliant anfield fans tonight.

20.) 22 Dec 2021 23:41:40
The fact that Klopp made the substitutions in the 2nd half that he did shows he takes the competition a bit more seriously than many fans think.
We've drawn Arsenal in the semi which is about the most favourable draw we could have asked for. I don't know if the LC semis are still a 2 game affair or whether it's 1 nowadays, but that's a good opportunity of a Wembley final.
Arsenal will put out a strong team for that, I reckon Klopp will match them, depending on availability during these difficult times.

21.) 22 Dec 2021 23:58:57
JK - missed a beaut! or hopefully I misread your comment and you did actually make it but your boy didn't!?

to the OP - I just can't agree at all with the sentiment that you go all out in the competition. There is a reason City had won it so many years in a row and that is because they have the best depth and can rotate, LIKE EVERY CLUB DOES IN THIS COMPETITION, with the least impact on their top-end performance. You want to know how important this competition is? How about when we had our top team off for the CLub World Cup and the Coconut cup decided that we should still have our game scheduled within 24 hours of our CWC match? yeah that shows you right there how much esteem this competition is held in by its own organizers.

Winning this trophy is a bonus and undoubtedly brings positive benefits if you can win it. But I won't be losing any sleep at all over the results in this comp and rather just look forward to seeing fellahs we don't normally see go out there and do themselves and the club proud. Klopp probably did go too heavy with the kids in the first half, but it's a learning experience. Not a crying opportunity heehee

top team here and then rotate for Leeds, in the prem, where every dropped point is a nail in the coffin for FSG? lol, you must be having a laugh mate.

22.) 23 Dec 2021 01:25:08
Fans excellent tonight. James Maddison posted on his Instagram after the game Anfield best atmosphere in England.

{Ed0666's Note - I bet those Leicester fans loved reading that 😂

23.) 23 Dec 2021 04:21:45
I live on a high horse in an ivory tower. 😎.

24.) 23 Dec 2021 07:05:54
That made lol thunderbird 🤣.

25.) 23 Dec 2021 08:05:45
Maddison is thicker than a Boxing Day turd in fairness to him.

26.) 23 Dec 2021 08:56:06
Faith me and my boy both missed it. I made the cardinal sin of telling him last week the tickets were secured and we were heading up to the game as part of an Xmas treat. Him being disappointed yesterday morning is an understatement so I’m now in back pedalling mode trying to get tickets with the likely option of paying out for hospitality to make a 12 year old happy.

Thunderbird nice reply 🤣 👏. I don’t suppose you have any VIP tickets in that Tower of yours?

21 Dec 2021 17:48:23
What do we think happens with Kelleher long term? I really like him as a number 2 but will he be happy with that for the rest of his career? He’ll never play for his country ahead of Bazunu if he’s not playing regularly. Would we take an offer for him and use Pitaluga as number 2?

ZagrebScouser

1.) 21 Dec 2021 18:21:38
Yeah I imagine he'll leave in the next 24 months, probably not as early as this summer unless we get an interesting offer but I imagine after next season he'll push for a move out and we'll probably let him, unless something wild happens with Alisson obviously like we sell him or he loses a lot of ability!

2.) 21 Dec 2021 18:39:52
Unfortunately lad's I'd say that the young Cork man will leave and let's be honest he's way too good to be on the bench. Also by the time AB decides it's time to go back to the Copacobana beach we will have another Brazilian to step in.

3.) 21 Dec 2021 20:06:41
Kelleher may have to leave, IMO cos AB1 ain’t leaving anytime soon.

02 Nov 2021 21:29:55
Eds, Dybala having a very good season. Free in the summer do you think we’d be interested? One of the few players who could do the Firmino role at a very high level. Could probably play wide right to cover Salah too or as a 10. If not us any idea what the plan is for him do Juventus want to keep him or who’s interested.

ZagrebScouser

{Ed002's Note - Dybala is not of interest to Liverpool.}

1.) 03 Nov 2021 08:37:00
Always been too lazy and drifts in and out of games for a Klopp team I’d imagine.

2.) 03 Nov 2021 08:38:23
And long may that continue, IMO.

3.) 03 Nov 2021 11:02:54
Definitely had games he drifted in and out of the last few years but i’d argue so has Bobby. Dybala been back to his best this season and I wouldn’t call him lazy. There’s not many out there you think could fill that Firmino role easily that we could bring in. Benzema wouldn’t happen and we need younger anyway. Kramaric too injury prone also in his 30s. Lautaro Martinez would be my (expensive) choice. Gouiri from Nice might be cheaper. I’m surprised Joaquin Correa or Cunha weren’t looked at last summer. Shame for me we aren’t interested in him 28 in the summer i’d for sure take him. Then i’m not paid millions to make these decisions and rightfully so with some players i though would be good for us.

You a fan ed2? Highly rated but Portuguese football isn’t a league i keep up with.

ZagrebScouser

{Ed002's Note - There is no doubt he is a talented player and he is scoring goals from LM in a 4-4-2 but the price is very high and it is difficult to see how he will naturally fit in at Liverpool unless utilised as a LW.}

Does Firmino have much value? I don’t think we’d get more than 20m for him. I’d rather just keep him and let it run down we aren’t getting better for that price. Mane i’d say we could still get a good fee for. This summer will be the most important under Klopp. Could already be 2 years since the last title. Can’t have it becoming 3 then 4.

Wouldn’t go near Dembele but Saka and a young striker in with Mane Origi Minamino out would be ideal changes up top. If Arsenal don’t get top 4 you never know he might look for a move. Julian Alvarez could be off to United surprised we aren’t in for him.

Firmino probably goes next summer aswell as Minamino and Origi. Plenty of good forwards who should be available next summer we should be bringing in two.

Salah doesn’t have an ounce of body fat, he looks after himself extremely well and I don’t think he’s overly reliant on pace. I think come 33/ 34/ 35 he’ll be well able to play as a striker and still deliver same way Ronaldo does. My only worry is I think Liverpool are happy enough to challenge for top honours. Salah seems the type who’d want to be at a club who sets out to win the title or CL and anything else is failure. He doesn’t have many medals for a player of his ability at his age.

I said we produced Trent. But who else in 20 years? I think Jones is a good player but that’s it. I think he’d actually be better in a different team where he’d be let create more that didn’t play their full backs so high and he didn’t have to cover them. He’s been poor defensively. City, Brighton, Brentford etc he was constantly half arsed jogging back when they’d break. Jones is in the bottom 7% for tackles in the top 5 leagues. Thiago top 3%. Fabinho top 18% Keita top 17%. Milner top 15%. Even Ox is only bottom 45%. Henderson who’s been awful going back bottom 5% Interceptions only Keita is lower than Jones. Blocks only Henderson lower. Good player going forward, still young i’m just not blown away be delighted to be proved wrong starting with Arsenal. He does to be fair need a run with Fabinho and Thiago. Fabinho for me is a top 5 dm in the world and Thiago when fully fit is world class. The drop of from those 2 to all our other midfielders is to big.

Salah needs to shut up? How can you possibly take the side of a few billionaires who’ve disgraced the club so many times over one of our greatest ever players. He wants to stay and he’s making it known. There is not a single reason as to why he shouldn’t be signed to a king term deal on wages he reportedly wants. He doesn’t want enough if you ask me. We always here about how big a club we are and that Klopp made us a “destination” club. This contract situation will show where we’re at.

Gordon was good but maybe didn’t get on the ball enough. Morton was alright but i don’t see anything i didn’t see in chirivella. We don’t bring though like any good players the last 20 years unless we sign them like Sterling/ Elliott which is why i have hope for the likes of Gordon and Bobby Clark. Makes it more incredible that we managed to produce someone who’ll go down as one of the greatest full backs of all time. Might be unpopular but i don’t see much with Jones. Slow takes too long on the ball offers nothing defensively. Quick feet but that’s it. Look at his competition for England. Foden, Bellingham, Smith Rowe, Gallagher, even Ramsey at Villa i think looks better. Elliott with us. Decent player but i think he’s too big of a drop from the from first team level to be a squad player at a title winning squad.

ZagrebScouser

{Ed001's Note - clueless, have you forgotten about the best right-back in the world? And Jones was looking our best player after getting a run this season until he picked up the eye injury. You are far too busy denigrating to actually notice any of their qualities. To suggest Jones offers nothing defensively is nonsense and shows you have no idea what you are talking about. He was breaking up play repeatedly but you would have been busy slagging him off rather than actually seeing it I guess. And Morton is nothing like Chirivella. That is idiotic. They don't even play the same role in the team, except when Morton has been shoehorned in to cover injuries.}

How does recruiting players from South America work post brexit Ed? isn't it much easier now, but more difficult for let's say kids from Eastern Europe? I'd love us to start snapping up a few young brazilian players.

ZagrebScouser

{Ed002's Note - The Brexit rule changes do not make it easier for South Americans but the FA rule changes to a points based system may ease it slightly, but is intended to encourage HG players. The points based system applies equally now to EU and non-EU players - that is the big change.}
