Joe gomez is 23 and has won the premier league champions league and club world cup as a centre back with liverpool.

Some people are saying he ain't good enough. Name me a better centre half around his age. He plays in a high pressure environment week in week out at a top level. He ain't a 23 year old cb playing in a soft league. Look at our goals conceded total this year.

Hes about 6 years away from his peak too btw.

If gomez struggles with anything its confidence at times. That will mature naturally. he's a much better centre half than even he thinks he is and certainly a much better centre half than some liverpool supporters think.

He would walk into any other defence in the premier league and he's home grown as well.

Liverpool need another back up cb if lovern leaves. Nothing more. If they can get a really good one who is happy to rotate and at a decent price then great.

The thing about legends is that it is very subjective.

I never seen kenny, souness, barnes rush in their pomp. Some would say kenny is the only true legend. i've sat around enough bar tables with old hands to say with confidence that ain't the case.

Legends are defined by a collective acceptance for the most part but all clubs through time add to the herd in the many minds of those who wear the shirts.

Ive done the beardsley shuffle, i've scored with gods left foot. i've crunched a few in midfield and pinged a 60 yarder like souness. i've bent an assist around 4 lamposts like kenny and i've scored with first touches like rushie. Heck i wore grobs yellow gk top under my own in three cup finals.

I wasnt much of a winger but out of all of that barnes is my favourite liverpool player. But he ain't the only legend in my mind.

In my era of watching fowler gerrard and carragher would have been true legends.

Gerrard did so many magical things that i never thought it would be possible to witness his ilk again in my time of watching liverpool. As an individual im not sure it will even be possible again. He had his flaws as a player but his moments of genius were out of this world.

My gereration, the gerrard generation, may be scorned upon by fellow supporters of other clubs. The arguments fly in but its a different feeling, a different emotion when your connected emotionally to a club. Im glad i was able to witness his whole career from start to finish and i not ashamed to say that i cried on his departing.

legendary status can also be defined in small moments that imprint on your mind.

Jerzy's injury time save in 2005, jimi and igor's champions league medals. (The true miracle of istanbul! )

Now getting back to point, im not really sure if its appropiate for supporters of other clubs to define who legends are and not. Heck even the same supporters don't agree from time to time.

One things for sure though legends make history and are remembered for the feat.

Jordan henderson will be rembered in the minds of many young cubs now and in turn will be talked about for generations to come as a true captain of this magical club.

And i say magical because even in those low periods it still feels so.

I look foward to the next generation to come. I hope they write their own history so that i can compare them to the legends that came before.

1.Henderson
2.Mane
3.KDB

Hope henderson wins it. If it were any other player but henderson in the running id be saying mane. But i think our captain deserves the special recognition for such a great season of consistency for the team. Could not agrue if KDB spoils the party. Great player, didn't watch a lot of full city games but there must have been a right few where he was either off the boil or unable to grab his team by the scruff and drag them over the line for them to be so far behind.

If watford went down then id go for sarr. If watford stayed up then id go for matt targett from villa as backup for robbo. Someone who would be home grown and who we previously may have been interested in.

Only mention these two as i think they would provide cover for holes in the squad where there doesn't seem to be adequate cover.

Left back and left foward. For me origi doest do enough at left foward. And should be kept for middle. And although neco and gomez may be used at left back as cover imo the way we play we need a left footer on that side or we lose a bit of flow in our play.

Gomez has been the better of the two in quite a few games this season. Van dijk is quality obviously so don't read that statement the wrong way. Gomez has had a few bad games but so has big chief as well.

It would be madness to spend big money on another starting centre half when gomez is there. I don't think he plays well at right or left back so to sign another starter and have him rotate as utility back up would be a complete waste. Hoever is even a better right back than gomez and neco has that covered for backup going foward it would seem.

Lovern is a bomb scare and matip seems to get injured quite a lot so i can see the need for another quality centre half but at a time when pennies are being counted id rather the money go towards another foward thinking player if there are any signings to be made.

Fabinho and matip are more than capable of providing cover if there is no money to spend. There might not be as many games as normal next year who knows?

Gomez is one of the best young centre backs in world football and is no where near his peak. To waste all the investment in his playing time so far and relegate him to utility back up would be absolutely crazy.

If another defensive player was to be signed it should be a utility player and not a player that relegates gomez to that fate.

Any money generated through player sales that is availiable to spend must surely go towards front 3 backup. That is the weakest area of our squad. Specifically right and left foward.

Just my opinion of course.
