I'm seeing rumours that we could move for Ousmane Diomande for £51mil because Palace are preparing a bid that could push us into action.
Also seeing similar rumours about moving for Hato to fend off Chelsea interest.
I like both players, and can see Hato being a great Gomez replacement. Diomande would be an incredible upgrade on Quansah if he were to come in as 3rd choice, but I am scared as he really fits the mould of a Konate replacement. will have to wait and see I suppose.
1.) 10 Jun 2025 16:23:51
Both fantastic players who I'd love at the club. Diomandes stats are the same as big Virg.
2.) 10 Jun 2025 16:33:48
Theres only one big Virg.
3.) 10 Jun 2025 16:34:04
Konate can go if he wants, Diomande is a more than able replacement, brilliant young defender with no history of injury worries.
4.) 10 Jun 2025 18:01:58
Need to build the squad around people like Konate. Only centreback more important for us is Virg. If CB's are signed this summer in a perfect world they would be at Gomez and Quansahs expense not Ibou's.
5.) 10 Jun 2025 20:00:14
@Shughes, what if Konate wants to go but not just yet? Would you still buy the player even if he wants to be first choice? Personally I think I would .
28 May 2025 03:02:14
Apparently Aurelien Tchouameni's reps will be in england next week to speak to 3 clubs - Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool.
1.) 28 May 2025 04:42:00
We might end up being a dutch club from scouse club at this rate.
Hato, Tchouameni, Geertudia.
2.) 28 May 2025 05:14:54
Tchouameni is French.
3.) 28 May 2025 08:12:27
Lolz Haizan aside from that minor detail SK makes an excellent point.
4.) 28 May 2025 08:52:22
I believe he speaks Dutch though ?.
5.) 28 May 2025 09:07:44
Hahaha but I don't get it. Tell me.
6.) 28 May 2025 09:33:06
Loves a Dutch oven our Tchouameni.
7.) 28 May 2025 10:17:46
He’s a big fan of Gouda.
8.) 28 May 2025 10:39:46
Often seen wearing a Dutch cap.
9.) 28 May 2025 10:47:02
I thought a Dutch oven was when you hold the wife under the bedsheets and let one go. No?
10.) 28 May 2025 11:31:51
If you rearrange tchouameni you can spell dutch.
11.) 28 May 2025 13:05:53
Not only that, Faith, but you can also spell floccinaucinihilipilification - little known fact, you heard it here first.
12.) 28 May 2025 13:42:21
And he is renowned as a bit of a clogger.
21 May 2025 12:23:32
Rumours that Bayern had been pursuing a deal to recruit Florian's Wirtz' sister, Juliane Wirtz, for their women's team as an incentive to help Florian settle in Munich, but apparently that deal is now off because Bayern's confidence in securing Florian is crumbling.
Exciting stuff if true!
1.) 21 May 2025 12:40:30
I’ve heard they have also asked about signing his dog and have offered 30 boneos as an incentive. Exiting times.
2.) 21 May 2025 13:06:24
?? Are you sure that’s not a storyline from Eastenders?
3.) 21 May 2025 13:14:39
These rumours are going from bad to Wirtz.
4.) 21 May 2025 14:00:39
I don't know if he signs or not but keep the rumours coming.
Absolute Gold.
5.) 21 May 2025 14:33:28
Brilliant Bmena red.
6.) 21 May 2025 15:39:54
WDW, from the Kardashians, perhaps?
7.) 21 May 2025 16:43:37
Kinda sad for the sister that you'd only pursue a deal for the sister to get Florian to sign, is his sister not very good, then? (I just found out that Bayern won the women's league too, that sucks)
8.) 21 May 2025 19:29:45
@Bmena - cracking stuff mate - loved that ???.
20 May 2025 09:37:37
Morning Eds,
Hearing rumours that Wirtz has a release clause of €150mil for German clubs but just €100mil (£84mil) for foreign clubs, and that it can be paid in instalments over 4-5 years.
Leverkusen supposedly made Liverpool aware of this hidden clause and payment structure when they enquired about Frimpong, and the club view it as "opportunistic".
Can't find anything concrete on release clauses, any chance you've heard anything on this?
{Ed001's Note - not heard anything on a clause, but Leverkusen have set a higher price for Bayern than foreign clubs. They don't want him to go there.}
1.) 20 May 2025 10:12:58
Ed001.getting my juices flowing again. crikey, what a signing it would be.
Not going to get my hopes up just yet.
Really hope we still go for Hato even though it looks like Kerkez is coming. I think having two left footed defenders would be hugely beneficial. especially given their age!
{Ed001's Note - Leverkusen are desperate for him to join anyone other than a German club, so they are pushing him towards England.}
2.) 20 May 2025 10:49:51
Can I ask why Leverkusen are so desperate, Ed? Is it because they want a better chance of winning the league or are they just sick and tired of Bayern?
{Ed001's Note - no one in Germany wants to deal with Bayern as they are sick of them poaching their best players.}
3.) 20 May 2025 11:10:58
Refusing to get excited about this one until I see him putting pen to paper.
4.) 20 May 2025 11:51:04
VVD will extend again imo. He will still be our best defender in 2 years time.
5.) 20 May 2025 14:38:58
Thanks for that Ed. Keeping everything crossed for that.
Guessing it all comes down to whether him and his family want to move to UK otherwise it'll likely force Leverkusen's hand to sell to Bayern!
6.) 20 May 2025 14:39:53
I think we should help Leverkusen out here and buy the lad.
19 May 2025 15:18:29
Hi Eds,
I'm seeing links to Joao Pedro, apparently now at £30mil instead of the eye-watering £100mil Brighton were apparently looking for previously. Any info on the links to him, and the potential lower price? Maybe a hidden release clause like Macca or something?
{Ed001's Note - I don't know of any hidden release clauses sorry. We have shown interest.}
1.) 19 May 2025 16:58:10
Slot says he wants to shop at the top table, so why look over at the overpriced, average table?

17 Jun 2025 14:48:57
Question for the Eds and ITKs, but anyone have any idea on a timeline for a decision on the striker?
I know we need to make sales first, and need to give the selling club time to line up a replacement, and some of the deals are affected by CWC (Martinez at Inter, Alvarez at Atletico)
But I'm just curious if anyone has any info on timelines for decisions or further talks etc? Akira mentioned the 7th June meeting a few weeks in advance, so does anyone know of anything similar coming up? Or any talks scheduled with Newcastle?
Also, wondering if anyone knows anything on what the club will do if both Nunez and Jota leave, and only one striker comes in? I think we're okay if Diaz stays as he can cover striker if Isak (or whoever the 9 we bring in is) gets injured. But if Diaz goes to, would we look to replace him with a versatile player who can play LW / ST? are we looking at any young strikers who could come in as backup like:
Lucas Stassin
Georges Mikautadze
Nick Woltemade
George Ilenikhena
Samu Omorodion
Arnaud Kalimuendo
Karim Konate.
{Ed001's Note - timelines are not a thing mate, things happen when they happen.}
1.) 17 Jun 2025 16:25:52
Transfers are severely unpredictable hence, trying to get timelines is an exercise in futility.
17 Jun 2025 13:01:27
Obviously Wirtz is going to be under immense scrutiny from rival fans, and they'll all be on his back if he doesn't hit the ground running with astronomical numbers of G/ A, but I'm genuinely curious as to what your realistic expectations are for Wirtz' first season in England, as Liverpool fans?
In terms of G/ A, I don't think it would be too unrealistic to hope for roughly 20G/ A total in the league, and maybe another 4/ 5 in the CL. But I'm reluctant to judge him off numbers alone. I'd much rather him be the difference maker in big games, popping up with a winner against City or Arsenal, or assisting a late equaliser against Madrid in the CL, than just bag an easy hatrick at Sunderland, for example.
So I guess for me, I'd like to see him ease into English football, show some promising signs in terms of his ability, and pick up a few nice goals and assists here and there in the first few months. Then I'd hope that toward the end of the season, when it's coming to the business end of the Prem and the Champions League, Wirtz could prove to be one of the top players in both competitions, and really push us to compete for both titles.
1.) 17 Jun 2025 13:33:16
I'll judge him on performance - not numbers. If he doesn't get a single goal or assist but plays a stack of defence splitting passes that lead to goals then I'll be just as happy.
2.) 17 Jun 2025 14:07:22
I'm with you Shipley. Stats have their place but I'd rather judge with my eyes. Wirtz could be doing all the important work but not getting the final shot/ pass.
I don't care if he gets 10 G/ As if he plays an important part of us winning something worthwhile next season.
3.) 17 Jun 2025 14:15:36
Reckon he’s going to be brilliant. Not going to put numbers on it, but I reckon he’s going to be the difference in many games, especially against a low block where normally we would struggle to break them down, he’s an absolute master at producing something special and being the difference between losing and drawing or drawing and winning.
4.) 17 Jun 2025 14:47:01
Yeh it's not just the stats . its what he will make other teams do . they will have to change their tactics. can't leave him too much time or space. do they man mark? Will he free up other players . will making a run just take away a player . or leave defenders guessing . these things win games . but are not in the stats .
5.) 17 Jun 2025 15:03:09
I’ll come from a different angle
He’s a superstar, and he’ll live up to it based on any metric on offer
- stats
- opinions and impressions
- in-depth performance analysis
- team mates and coaches appreciation
As long as he keeps his head down, I don’t see why he can’t fulfil these lofty expectations
But our support will help!
6.) 17 Jun 2025 15:41:01
I'll be shocked if he doesn't get 25 G/ A but let's be honest, all we care about is the eye test. Does he look good and is he affecting games, does he press well, can he maintain a level for 90 mins etc
Rival fans will be making noise if he doesn't get 15+ in both columns though i'm sure.
7.) 17 Jun 2025 16:27:52
The stats don't mean that much to me esp. at the start. As some have said already, I am looking to see how effective he is in terms of his movement, vision and decision-making esp. in the final third. If all that is on point, the stats will take care of themselves.
8.) 17 Jun 2025 17:31:33
I’ll judge Wirtz on the FPL points he’ll get me.
9.) 17 Jun 2025 18:35:14
I reckon he'll get 11 goals, 16 assists, and 19 second assists.
4 goals with his left, 6 with his right and a header to clinch the league.
6 assists to Salah, 4 for Diaz, 5 for a new striker, and 1 for Joe Gomez on the last day of the season.
I also think he'll have an affair with Diaz's missus, and the south American desperate scousewives will be up in arms, and they'll all leave at the end of the season to be replaced by the best Dutch players in their position, and in 2027 we'll get relegated because all the players are too stoned.
FACT!
13 Jun 2025 12:41:41
I think it's fairly undebatable that our squad as a whole experienced much less injuries this season than under Klopp's regime. Feel this was largely due to the intensity of Klopp (and Pep Ljinders) approach both in games and in training, perhaps pushing the players a bit too hard at times.
As the club's academy generally tries to set up in a way to give young players the best chance at integrating into the first team, the academy has replicated that Klopp approach somewhat for years, and I can't help but wonder if that could explain why so many of our academy products have repeated injury concerns (Bradley, Bacjetic, Danns, McConnell, etc. )
Is anyone else feeling quite optimistic that the effect we saw from Slot this season of managing players could bleed into the youth setup, and we could see less players coming through injury prone?
Obviously I know when they're still growing and everything that some injuries are bound to happen, but I'm just floating the idea as the first team has definitely seen an improvement this year, and I really hope the academy could benefit in a similar way.
1.) 13 Jun 2025 13:35:32
I read somewhere that Slot had the players doing yoga as part of their training. That would explain the reduction in injuries last season too.
2.) 13 Jun 2025 15:26:25
Player conditioning usually spans multiple season. It's a great start but let's wait and see if this carries on into next season.
3.) 13 Jun 2025 16:26:58
Indeed, Dracred. Ed01 confirmed it. Also, the training methods have changed. Rather than for the players to train for a shorter period but with high intensity under Klopp, the players train with out that high of intensity but for a bit longer. This also helped with our positive injury situation.
4.) 13 Jun 2025 16:28:47
Jota, Bradley, Gomez and Allison still seemed to pick up their annual injuries and Chiesa couldn’t get fit in 8 months.
We definitely played games with less intensity though in and out of possession so no doubts that would have helped on muscle injuries.
5.) 14 Jun 2025 02:53:56
Gomez and Jota were impact injuries though. No amount of conditioning could prepare them for that. Gomez had actually been injury free for a long while before that, stretching back to last season. He does get niggles here and there but he was available for the majority of games prior to the big one he had last season.
Bradley, Allison, and Chiesa are concerns though, especially Allison. I can't recall any keeper getting as many injuries as he does. However, Slot did say that Chiesa took 6 months to get up to the required level of fitness but it does look like Slot doesn't trust him that much anyway.
6.) 14 Jun 2025 11:34:04
I thought Gomez tore his hamstring mate?
Good debate though this.
13 Jun 2025 09:54:21
Liverpool seem to be very keen on double-dipping this year
Frimpong and Wirtz from Leverkusen
Tried for both Kerkez and Huijsen from Bournemouth
Heavily linked to both Isak and Gordon from Newcastle.
List of a few other pairs we've been linked with:
Martinez and Bastoni from Inter
Gyokeres and Diomande from Sporting
Rodrygo and Tchouameni from Madrid
Wharton and Guehi from Palace
Rogers and Kamara from Villa
Stiller and Woltemade from Stuttgart
Ekitike and Larson from Frankfurt
Sesko and Geertruida from Leipzig
If you had your pick, what club would you raid and which two players would you take?
1.) 13 Jun 2025 10:26:25
Anything that includes Isak.
2.) 13 Jun 2025 10:34:26
Isak and Gordon as Isak is the best player on the list for me and if he stays fit would improve us the most.
3.) 13 Jun 2025 10:37:00
Martinez and Bastoni without hesitation.
4.) 13 Jun 2025 10:54:05
I read “double dipping”
I had just read about “Desperate Scouse Wives”
My mind wandered….
5.) 13 Jun 2025 10:57:53
Bastoni and Martinez. Both world class in the truest meaning of the phrase. Absolutely no chance of both though.
6.) 13 Jun 2025 11:17:40
Gordon and Isak.
7.) 13 Jun 2025 11:20:11
Martinez and Bastoni. We need another quality cb to cover any bad luck and rotation. Ibou likes and injury now and again. I do hope we sign Wharton at some point though.
12 Jun 2025 16:08:58
Just on the homegrown thing, I know it's not a quota and we don't need to name 8 homegrown players, it's just that we can't have more than 17 non-homegrown, senior palyers (over 21)
But we're cutting it fairly close now, even with the expected departures of Kostas, Nunez, Chiesa, etc.
So let's say these are our current (and expected) non-homegrown players over the age of 21 for next season:
1. Alisson
2. Mamardashvili
3. Robbo
4. Kerkez
5. Virgil.
6. Konate
7. Endo
8. Grav
9. Macca
10. Szobo
11. Wirtz
12. Gakpo
13. Diaz
14. Salah
15. Jota
So that leaves us with two spots for non-homegrown players over 21. Assume one of them will be taken up by a striker, whether it's Isak / Martinez / Ekitike / Gyokeres/ whoever.
That would leave one spot, maybe for a CB? Obviously the benefit of signing Ait Boudlal or Zeze would be that we don't have to register them for another 2 years so they wouldn't take up that final spot. So to be fair, maybe we don't even end up needing the 17th spot this year. But we're definitely pushing against it, and I wonder if it could impact any of those "opportunistic" signings the club seem to like. Can't see them just throwing a cheeky Chiesa type into the mix anytime soon now, as this squad list needs to be planned meticulously in advance to make sure we don't have to have a fire sale.
Wonder if that has much bearing on the Gordon rumours if Diaz goes, as obviously that frees up a spot.
1.) 12 Jun 2025 17:01:56
I think its crazy that as part of the UK Scotland isn't classed as homegrown.
2.) 12 Jun 2025 17:25:31
Different different footballing institutions Ernest, same with Welsh and Irish football that's all. Same reason we don't have a UK national team. Personally I'd be all for a joining of the separate British Leagues.
To be HG you need to be part of a clubs academy for at least 3 years between 17-21 in a relevant club, so the real head scratched question is, if a player was at Swansea's or Cardiff's academy during that time, would they be HG for an English team, given those teams play in the English leagues?
3.) 12 Jun 2025 17:25:54
To qualify as u21 and not need to be registered, the player needs to be both u21 before the season starts and have been at the club for 2 years I believe.
Any new signings regardless of age would need to be registered. I’m happy to be wrong though.
4.) 12 Jun 2025 18:00:16
@Gorzee. I think you might be confused with the 2 year rule for Europe. U21 players who have been at the club for 2 years can play in Europe without being named in the squad.
5.) 12 Jun 2025 18:27:29
To clarify, you need to have spent 3 years playing in the home country league to qualify as HG. It has nothing to do with your nationality.
Hence Fabregas qualified as HG, but Robbo doesn't, Bajcetic will qualify as HG when he is over 21, as would have Pitaluga, as did Kelleher, as does Jaros, even though they represent other nations internationally.
McTominay wouldn't qualify as HG in Scotland despite the fact he is Scottish.
6.) 12 Jun 2025 19:06:05
Sorry, I should have added " you need to have spent 3 years playing between the ages of 16-21"
7.) 13 Jun 2025 01:12:51
It's to do with which FA they played in between the ages of 16-21. Scotland has their own league with their own separate FA so that's the main reason why Robbo isn't considered homegrown with us. Cardiff and Swansea play under the English FA so any players who fulfill the above conditions would be considered homegrown.
17 Jun 2025 16:53:11
@Wayne not itk but even the stop gap options aren't great. there's Watkins, then you have Mateta and Wissa both with 1 year left on their contracts I believe. Callum Wilson out of contract at Newcastle if we fancy another hospital-bed-addict.
Then around Europe, PSG are keen to offload Goncalo Ramos, and Juve trying to offload Vlasovic. Osimhen could be great if he lowers the wage demands.
Also been mentioned here that Jhon Duran could be an option on loan for the year.
Honestly would say it's more likely that Liverpool run Diaz / Jota up front again than go for any of those as stop-gaps though.
Or else there's probably and Endo-style stop gap that they'll pull out of their arse for £15mil who will score some big goals next season and become Isak's deputy next season, going down as a cult hero in the vein of Origi.
17 Jun 2025 14:52:16
Thanks Thefields, appreciate the update.
Have you anything on Newcastle's pursuit of Pedro, or their interest in Jota?
16 Jun 2025 11:13:16
Absolute Cinema ?
Great stuff SlotworkOranje, keep it coming!
Hoping we get some Alvarez updates in the next episode! Seems to be some discourse on how true the rumours are on his girlfriend hating England, so hopefully the Scousewive Sleuth can uncover the truth!
Also, does anybody know any Swedish girls, see what Isak is saying?
16 Jun 2025 10:55:57
Fingers crossed ShipleyKopite!
Think it was RedNotice who said that, though he was quite clear that it could change as he had been told similar medicals were booked last week that never came to fruitition as deal weren't agreed in time.
But completely agree that now that a deal for Wirtz is agreed, all looks good for a Wirtz medical on Florian Friday!
And I'm also seeing reports this morning that a deal could be agreed for Kerkez, so maybe his medical could go ahead today, Milos Monday?
16 Jun 2025 09:22:16
Lamnoonoo, I'm not sure if you're a troll or whether you're just extremely misguided mate. You speak as if you have a source but I completely agree with the other comments above, the reasoning feels very off here, and I don't believe for one second the club would rule out targets purely because they'll miss the start of pre-season.
Your post directly contradicts RedNotice97's post below, and he has been fairly reliable in recent weeks calling some of the Wirtz stuff? I know he got the medical tests wrong last week but he apologised for it and explained how it happened. For what it's worth, he has also been a lot more balanced when speaking about the club's transfer strategy than you seem to be here.
You were also fact checked by Thefields on your last post, who again, has been pretty reliable of late.
Your posts also contradict Akira and Carra's stuff, both of whom have also been reliable.
Obviously none of these 4 can get everything right (and nobody expects that! ) but they are at least trying to share positive and exciting rumours, and when they shoot something down, they either say it's from a source or clearly state it's their personal opinion, and give more believable reasoning than you have here.
I'm curious as to whether you are just trolling, whether you're just being intentionally negative and stating your pessimism as if it were fact, or whether you genuinely do have some sort of source who just seems to directly contradict all of the other ITKs on here?
17 Jun 2025 12:42:49
Elliot as a centre forward is a non-starter for me Bauldy. You mention his goals per min but you need to remember that is massively inflated because 1) it is a small sample size cause he's barely played, and 2) he's coming off the bench against tired legs. Look at his numbers in games he has started and player the full 90 and they're not even close.
Then physically he doesn't cut it as a premier league forward. Lacks the pace, lacks the physicality, it just wouldn't work.
Perhaps you are saying rather than play him centre forward, play him INSTEAD of a centre forward, like a false 9 but even deeper, in the dual 10 formation we played against city when we had Szobo and Jones as the dual 10s with no striker. This in theory could work, and could suit Elliot - but if we were to play this formation it would 100% be Wirtz on the left and Dom on the right. And then even when SLot has played this formation, he has played Jones there, because he doesn't trust Elliot's physicality. So even if we did play this formation, Elliot wouldn't start, and would be behind Jones in the pecking order off the bench. I just can't see him having a future with any variation of our system.
16 Jun 2025 10:42:16
Wonder would it be at all possible to implement some sort of Gardening Leave rule, where if the club decides not to extend your contract, you can leave on a free as normal, but if the club does actually offer you an extension (with a reasonable payrise or something maybe) and you refuse to sign it, there could be a period of like 6 months gardening leave after your contract ends, where you are not allowed to play for a different club. Just a thought!
{Ed001's Note - there does need to be something, because right now it is silly. Just enough to make it balanced between players and clubs.}
16 Jun 2025 09:58:56
Sane's contract at Bayern ends at the end of June, so until then he is a Bayern player, and he has signed a pre-cotract agreement with Galatasary to join as a free agent when his contract ends.
Sane and Bayern were also in talks to sign a "mini contract" to extend his contract to the end of July to allow him to play the full CWC (and not just the group stages) and I'm actually not sure if they signed this in the end.
Mastantuano agreed a deal to join Real Madrid after the CWC I think, so he will stay play in the tournament for River Plate.
Estevao deal was agreed last year in advance that he would join Chelsea this summer, and they have agreed that instead of completing the deal as soon as the transfer window opens, they will complete the deal after the tournament, so that Estevao can play for Palmeiras I believe?
Modric is a similar situation to Sane, where his contract ends at the end of the month and he has agreed to join AC Milan as a free agent. But I heard that he had a clause in his contract allowing him to stay until the end of the world cup (ie his contract runs until the end of Madrid's competitve season, not just the end of June) so I think he will be with madrid for the CWC and then join Milan
If all of this wasn't confusing enough, the transfer window is now open again, so clubs can sign players, but for clubs in the CWC, there is a period of a few days toward the end of the month (between group stages and knockout stages) where each club is allowed to register up to 2 new players in their tournament squad.
12 Jun 2025 16:45:56
He's 28 and Inter are in the mud so I would have hoped we'd get him for £60m, maybe £70m at a push, but with the crazy prices being thrown around of £90m for your Seskos and Ekitikes, Inter are well within their right to hold us over a barrel for a bigger fee, closer to the £80m you've mentioned.
Have seen them linked to both Nunez and Jota though, so could definitely see us doing one of them plus a bit of cash for him if the players agreed to go.
11 Jun 2025 23:42:42
Fair play Kaiser mate.
Just out of curiosity though, are you apologising for the way in which you called them out on the Inter meeting being bull, or have you heard any new information since that leads you to believe they were actually telling the truth?
(Not trying to have a go, I rate and respect the apology either way, just genuinely interested to know if you might have heard something to change your mind on them! )
