Hey to all the ends and everyone else that contributes to this page. I think the news on vvd is brilliant. 75m these days isn't a lot in all fairness, although still a sizable transfer fee. He's an upgrade on all our cb currently and let's not forget he was sensational at celtic, awesome for Southampton until we came knocking and obviously now he just wants the move so not been playing at his best. Massive well done and a great statement from fsg and Mr Klopp.

Uggerslfc

{Ed002's Note - who is this “statement” being made to?}

1.) 27 Dec 2017 18:29:06
Statement to the footballing world. Why so pessimistic ed002?

{Ed002's Note - I am not pessimistic, but the "footballing world" is not going to care about Liverpool signing a player from Southampton.}

2.) 27 Dec 2017 18:30:12
A statement to the fans maybe or others that thought Klopp could not get the deal done? I’m guessing here to be honest.

{Ed002's Note - Right, I see.}

3.) 27 Dec 2017 18:32:41
I'd assume this is a statement of intent ed002, to fellow title rivals that we mean business and don't plan on only scraping the top4 in years to come, and also a statement to us fans that although they messed it up in the summer, at least they have managed to do it this time quite low key, without the hype around it like they foolishly made last time. Hopefully it's a statement that they've learnt how to deal with transfers properly.

{Ed002's Note - They won't care - it is simply a transfer of a much needed centre back. Did Liverpool care when Chelsea signed Morata or Manchester United Lukaku? Did they quiver when Spurs signed Sanchez or Arsenal Lacazette? The answer is no, they didn't care at all. Maybe it is not a "statement" at all, and just the transfer of a very good and much needed player?}

4.) 27 Dec 2017 18:34:51
It's going to be one great bank statement.

5.) 27 Dec 2017 18:44:11
Maybe Ed002 but Liverpool have finally got VVD and he may prove to be decisive in top four and inroads in Champions.

6.) 27 Dec 2017 18:45:16
I don't see how we would know if the ''footballing world'' would care or not without one of you explaining what the ''footballing world '' is.

7.) 27 Dec 2017 18:45:26
I get what ed002 is saying. I get that as fans we get excited but take a step back and not make massive claims. It's not like are signing Suarez back, or Neymar. That would of been a "statement"!

That said I think he will be a decent signing. Less excuses now we seem to be getting players the manager wants. Just need to sign a GK now.

8.) 27 Dec 2017 18:47:04
A statement to all the sarcastic -know it alls - (many on here) Who, even up to this morning were posting that VVD was “ off to city” and scoffed at the fans delusion that he might, just might, choose pool!

YNWA.

{Ed001's Note - he always wanted to join Liverpool and made that plain in the summer, it was only that Saints refused to sell him to us then that he never joined.}

9.) 27 Dec 2017 18:39:09
The statement of intent makes a return, is the intent to spend all the money they are about to receive for Coutinho?

10.) 27 Dec 2017 18:42:32
Arrrr ed2 hope 2018 I'd a happier year for you mate you seem so down at the mo.

{Ed002's Note - I am fine thanks TH.)

11.) 27 Dec 2017 18:52:13
Goodbye phil.

12.) 27 Dec 2017 18:48:16
I love you Ed002 you're a complete legend!

In terms of Virgil im buzzing with his signing i think he will become a massive player for us really happy we got it over the line eventually.

13.) 27 Dec 2017 18:55:26
No they didn't quiver but considering at that time we were linked with Lacazette, Sanchez directly chose Arsenal over us and Morata you wouldn't have ever thought would even entertain us. now is a massively different story. All of the above wouldn't even get into our first team! And we all laughed when united bought Lukaku!

14.) 27 Dec 2017 18:55:33
LFC can confirm we are stating that this statement states that Liverpool have entered into a new era of stasis, starting steadily, steering straight towards the top and are now in a state of shock at the sheer shimmer. oh i give up. No one cares what we do, get over it. Good signing, woo!

15.) 27 Dec 2017 18:55:52
Spurs starting X1 vs Southampton was 147m. Alderweireld and Vertonghen cost a combined 23.5m. I know who i would rather have. Davinson Sanchez aswell.

Im my humble opinion Liverpools defending is down to Klopps coaching or lack of it.

16.) 27 Dec 2017 19:15:16
Crazy money but another player signed who would get into ANY side in d country with Keita to follow. be happy people, top player signed forget the money.

17.) 27 Dec 2017 19:38:26
Is it possible we spent more than we should have as a "make up" for what transpired in the summer? Just asking.

18.) 27 Dec 2017 19:49:28
Have you watched VVD playing for Holland recently?

A long way off where he was.

19.) 27 Dec 2017 20:10:54
Big Emre, you think he would get in the spurs defence ahead of Vertonghen, Alderweireld and Sanchez? He wouldn't.

20.) 27 Dec 2017 20:19:17
More the point Ellis Dee is what Alderweireld and Vertonghen would cost now not then.

21.) 27 Dec 2017 20:29:26
Thats a good and fair point but given your recent history with Southampton the Van Dijk fee is completely distorted. Although i think Van Dijk is good i honestly think all three of sours cbs are better. Sanchez cost 38m, Alderweireld should cost a lot more than Van Dijk but its all relative to the buying/ selling clubs. Personally i would say Van Dijks value would be around 35m but hey ho.

22.) 27 Dec 2017 20:35:06
He’d beat Sanchez he looks like a bit of a Matip. The other two bough are a great pairing if they left hey wouldn’t be the same players they’re great but have a good understanding.

23.) 27 Dec 2017 20:43:29
Are you having a laugh LSD? Sanchez is woeful, Toby and Vertonghen on the other hand are class.

24.) 27 Dec 2017 21:08:23
Sanchez 'woeful'! Are you mad? He has been unbelievable for us soo far. I thought he might be a bit too raw but he is soo good. Reminds me of Ledley King a bit.

25.) 27 Dec 2017 21:30:25
Alderweireld and vertonghen are class but yes, at his best he Van Dijk would get into the Spurs team ahead of them. don't judge by the player of the last couple of months he is top class.

26.) 27 Dec 2017 21:40:36
Im not judging him on the last few months. He is nowhere near as good as any of the spurs cbs. You'll find that out soon and i will be back to say i told you so.

27.) 27 Dec 2017 21:55:41
I don’t think you will LSD as anyone who thinks Sanchez has been class has not been watching the same player as I have. I remember the Europa final where he was completely hyped and was the worst player on the pitch. Good thing about football is we all have opinions. You keep Sanchez and I’m happy with VVD (ps I’ll chuck in Migs) 😀.

28.) 27 Dec 2017 22:39:57
Sanchez and morata wouldn't get in your first team lol.

29.) 28 Dec 2017 00:59:19
Ellis I cannot believe you’re trying to say Sanchez has been good for you! He’s shocking and a large part of the reason you’re not as good as last season. Teams target him, he’s a weak link in your defence without a shadow of a doubt. Spurs fans do make me laugh.

30.) 28 Dec 2017 01:19:33
Furthermore Ellis I’d actually suggest that bringing Sanchez into the conversation justifies the £75mil price tag for VVD. He’s definitely more than twice the player Sanchez is by a long way.

31.) 28 Dec 2017 01:29:14
Toe knee you must have been pissed watching that Europa final. Sanchez was by far MOTM and on the losing team. He's been pretty solid for spurs since. I rate him and Toby as being in the top 5 CBs in the premier league tbh. (before TA's injury obvs. )

{Ed001's Note - if Sanchez was MOTM then you must have been watching a different game as he was the one responsible for giving the ball away repeatedly. He made so many mistakes I lost count.}

32.) 28 Dec 2017 02:12:16
What’s funny? Couts over Sanchez and Bobby over Morata. Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

33.) 28 Dec 2017 06:20:06
yeah what an amazing back line spurs have, so good they're below us in the league even with the leagues top scorer. VVD will take us up another level and propel us further ahead of the spuds.

34.) 28 Dec 2017 09:37:05
Cheers ed01 and Fruit Salah and no Brezteke certainly not drunk. Sanchez has not impressed me in the slightest and is one of the factors for spurs inconsistent form as poch is trying to shoe horn him into the team.

{Ed001's Note - I agree with you Tk, not a fan of him at all. He is not in the same class as the two Belgians.}

10 Aug 2017 20:47:45
Quedtion for the eds or anyone else that might be in the know. I think my soul is at ease with the little fella staying now and I'm buzzing! Do we know of any other legit possible targets that could join? I'm hearing ox (still not sure how i feel about that one) luan, obvs VVD and Keita seems be back on the scene but don't think there's any legs in them right now, well maybe VVD! Is there anyone were genuinely looking at making a bid for?

Uggerslfc

{Ed025's Note - so pipco is staying then uggers?..that is a complete guess on your part mate..

1.) 10 Aug 2017 21:12:20
I'd say more of a hope and a prayer buddy. In all fairness tho I can't see it happening now unless Barcelona come back and just say here's the 222m we got for neymar or something else daft. There's a bit to much at stake with him going. Evertime I do feel alright about it tho you make me worry again. You playing with my emotions or you know something we all don't?

2.) 10 Aug 2017 22:10:50
I know being a blue you'd love to see him go Ed but even you must admit it's looking unlikely now. I just can't see him agitating for it and we won't let him go unless we get Keita perhaps. I'm quite calm about it really I don't think he'll go and the owners have shown they won't let him go unless we have a replacement. Uggers I'm with you mate 👍.

{Ed025's Note - im a massive couts fan ings and your wrong i dont want him to go to barca...i want him to go to united mate.. :)

3.) 10 Aug 2017 22:49:31
Yes ings I'm staying strong with you brother! Eds low blow with the Couts to Utd jibe tho jeezus!

4.) 10 Aug 2017 23:02:25
You would Ed you are their feeder club after all.

{Ed025's Note - i just really like couts and would like to see him win things mate, and lets be honest he will have a better chance of achieving that at united than at liverpool ings...FACT..

5.) 10 Aug 2017 23:17:22
Hang on Ed I think we must be talking about a different United. Did you mean Colchester? Or Oxford perhaps? I was talking about Man Utd, you know those overpaid muppets that finished 6th last season and helped 70,000 insomniacs finally get some sleep once a week.

{Ed025's Note - they have bought well ings and i expect them to finish higher than liverpool mate..

6.) 10 Aug 2017 23:23:59
Haha well Benitez if that was the case I think Utd would be the wrong club (granted they won the Europa) but look at their league form since Fergie left it has been woeful and that ish a FACT and it pains me to say that because laughing to hard hurts my sides :)

7.) 10 Aug 2017 23:29:24
As I said Ed you would, Everton fans are pretty much United fans really. When players sign for Everton they really hope that one day they might be able to play for Utd's first team ;-)

{Ed025's Note - i think all players think the same ings, they are after all the most successful club in english history and play good stuff as well, like it or not everyone is a closet united fan mate..

8.) 10 Aug 2017 23:39:47
ed025 got no friends.

{Ed025's Note - loads mate as it happens and a lot of them liverpudlians...did i tell you i work as a nowegian tourist guide..

9.) 10 Aug 2017 23:46:23
The most successful club in English history is Liverpool mate. They might have more league titles but the big one? Well we've only gone and won it 5 times! On a serious note the fact that you said Utd play good stuff makes me question your ability to be an ed! ED1 when is his next appraisal? I suggest extra Ed training might be needed.

{Ed025's Note - won it 5 times yada yada yada blah blah blah, the last one was the biggest fiddle in world sport ings, plus you should never have been in it in the first place as you never won your league..its supposed to be a champions trophy i thought..

10.) 11 Aug 2017 00:04:33
Not many on this site Ed.

{Ed025's Note - thats because you are all bitter mate..

11.) 11 Aug 2017 00:34:48
In fairness, not a hope utd start september with a better first 11 than us.

12.) 11 Aug 2017 00:46:11
It is what it is ed and we've won it 5 times. I just thank the lord I was born a red not a blue otherwise I'd be bitterly looking for reasons to dismiss any success Liverpool have had whilst secretly supporting Man Utd! I however have had the unbridled joy of my team winning the biggest prize in European football 5 times and you can not imagine the feeling when your captain lifts that trophy. If we never win it again I'm glad I've had that and let's be honest it's something that you will never experience. I feel sad for you for that.

13.) 11 Aug 2017 00:46:27
To be fair John I don't think anyone has many friends on this site. I know I don't know anybody on here. or do I? :)

14.) 11 Aug 2017 00:48:26
Utd getting matic worries me. a lot. they almost have the perfect mou team. still have crap CB's but they have everything else. and not like I can really talk with the state of ours haha. fingers crossed we can pull in some new talent and keep coutinho.

15.) 11 Aug 2017 01:26:20
Ed25 saying we are bitter from the people's bitter club themselves, you can't make laughter's like that up nowadays.

16.) 11 Aug 2017 02:40:34
Bro signing some one doesn't worries me untill they prove their worth i mean woth how much city and psg hav spent they should win evrything. and yes it will hurt us a lot but if Barcelona bidnsometng lik 125m pound we should sell coutinho. let's remember every player is replacable.

17.) 11 Aug 2017 02:45:31
I can't work out if you're joking scyven? Their fbs are crap as well as cbs. They have a good gk and St and decent cm, apart from that average. Also just sold their best player to Everton, Just to soothe jose's ego. Matic ain't that good at all. Give me Hendo ALL day.

18.) 11 Aug 2017 03:14:11
Also I don't think uggers first post is a total guess. It is probably based on the fact that even though Barcelona were willing to make coutinio the most expensive player in premiership history, we turned em down. To paraphrase my favourite ever comment on this site. "Jog on barca" effing brilliant. I'm sorry I can't reference my source, you know who you are. (Loved it) I too am pretty relaxed about it. I think it's pretty clear that unless we see most of neymar cash, klopp isn't selling. That is called "win win" situation.

19.) 11 Aug 2017 04:57:10
United played some of the worst football in the league at times last season and looked truly dreadful first half against Real Madrid last week, a game they lost. They did however with trophies and thus more successful. However, with the amount of money spent of players and salaries. Utd should do MUCH better. I think they'll struggle for top 4 this season. The midfield is so slow.

20.) 11 Aug 2017 00:21:04
Just barely.

Are united one of the 5 Elite clubs

Who are allowed to wear the ultimate club badge of distiction.

Are they one of the few clubs in Europe allowed to Keep the Eoropean champions trophy as a symbol of merit.

Didn't think so.

When any of your clubs can answer yes to any of the above questions then we may listen.

The only reason Utd have 1 more cup or title is by having sold their footballing soul and principles to the Special one bus parking company.

21.) 11 Aug 2017 01:02:11
Haha Ed25 you're on fire mate. to be fair to you, you're right and Utd have been the more successful club of late. The problem is that was all down to Fergie and now that he's gone they're playing complete tripe again and trying to buy back the glory days by overspending on individuals without any team ethic.

It's a bit like your fugly cousin won the lottery, married well for a bit, but now the marriage is over they've started to blow the money on hookers and gone back to being a divi ;)

{Ed025's Note - im not a mourinho fan at all zimbo hes a complete arse mate..

22.) 11 Aug 2017 02:34:57
U had a easy path to europa last year than us sp if u r thinking that as a big achievement hahaha. we even lost sakho who was an imp part of our defense. while you played against teenagers we played against sevilla. and also we haven't paid 89m for dancing mulumbu😂😂.

23.) 11 Aug 2017 02:40:13
Ed I admire you opinions most of the time. But to imply liverpool winning CL in 05 was a con and a fluke is BS mate. Why it was a con I do not know? We beat em fair and square. And we were in the very same final 2 yrs later. Ergo = European force.
The final in Istanbul was one of the best televised games ever and I'm afraid as an Everton fan you will never experience what it felt like that night. Magic, pure magic.

Foot note. Utd have been rubbish since fergie left. It's the same every year now "I think they might win it this year" Rubbish. They play boring Jose football. We play exciting total football and we were FAR better than them last year. Why do you think they'll do any better this season? Lukaku? Rather have zlatan all day. They don't have anyone who could clean Phil coutinio's boots. And neither do Everton I'm afraid.

{Ed025's Note - its all about opinions mate..

24.) 11 Aug 2017 03:00:04
Apologies ed25. Just protective is all mate. Everton could do okay this year, maybe.

On the liverpool 5th European cup = I doubt any CL winner has done so without getting a decision go their way. We played many games and many minutes and ultimately stevie g lifted the trophy. End of, anything else is academic bordering on bitterness.

Do you ever argue that England never really won the world cup? Or do you feel proud and sing "thirty years of hurt, never stopped me dreaming"? Food for thought.

{Ed025's Note - never apologize for backing your own club superred, all is fair in love and war and football mate..

25.) 11 Aug 2017 08:47:48
ManU will finish top4 this season I rekon. Chelsea to repeat, ManU, I think we can snip 3rd and then a dog fight between spurs, arsenal and city for 4th.

26.) 11 Aug 2017 10:43:40
Who gives a rubbish about United. Bunch of sods. This is the Liverpool page.

27.) 11 Aug 2017 09:06:49
since the great Man U, ovetook EU heavyweights, Nottingham Forest, Benfica, Inter etc to win it for a third time, were each of those wins following domestic titles, Ed025? i'd be surprised mate.

{Ed025's Note - probably not dom but im old school mate and believe that the champions trophy should be contested by only the champions of their respective leagues mate..

28.) 11 Aug 2017 14:30:38
Cool ed. Good responses to my posts. Went back up in my estimations. I doubt you care but thought I'd say.

{Ed025's Note - i appreciate it mate..

Well I've got to give it to Macca the man said he was in England looking at houses and behold Keita has signed. Thanks Macca appreciate the heads up and not that I ever have but won't doubt you in the future. Thanks dude.

Uggerslfc

1.) 28 Aug 2017 21:18:24
Macca is a genius. Doubt him at your peril.

28 Aug 2017 12:05:23
Also claiming barcas plan b is Keita. Pretty sure he's a no to boys. How do you say no in Spanish jeezus!

So watching transfer news on sky sports and guilleme what's his face is saying that Liverpool have said to Barcelona don't bother offering for couts we're not selling. With the potential bid / incoming of lemar do we think this will change or potentially keep couts till next season and lemar gets this season to bed in? Any input boys?

Uggerslfc

1.) 28 Aug 2017 12:18:15
I think behind closed doors it is allready agreed with couts leaving but they want to wait to make it publicly because the prices for us to sign players would skyrocket.

24 Aug 2017 16:22:00
So big vvd it's Thursday and the big man isn't a Liverpool player. I don't see any further movement in the transfer market at all. I think Mr K will bring through youngsters like Kent and Woodburn obvs TAA is already in. If he does send any of those out on loan and we don't sign anyone though I'll wonder what he's shmoking!

Uggerslfc

1.) 24 Aug 2017 17:01:53
Good memory ugger.

2.) 24 Aug 2017 17:03:02
Getting this feeling sadly too. Shame as we will struggle over the course of the season unless we are extremely fortunate with injuries.

11 Aug 2017 13:05:26
Ed025 knew! Couts is on the way out and to be fair if he has handed in a transfer request then he should go. BUT just because Barcelona messed up with neymar and now found themselves in limbo we shouldn't suffer! We need Phil or a decent infact no equal signing before he goes or unlucky son ya staying!

Klopp said in the pre match build up Karius was playing the majority game today and Ward will do the same against Blackburn.

I was wondering the same thing. Out of all cups comps apart from CL, could really struggle for top 4 if we don't beat Huddersfield and get a result at Tottenham. I get that Klopp doesn't want to panic buy but we need reinforcement in midfield. Can was terrible last night, Lallana injured again and just don't feel that Ox and Wini are enough.

We've been here before with Karius. He was number one, was appalling so was dropped. Top 4 is so tight at the minute nows not the time to try him again. I'll get behind the kid and hope he does well but got a feeling this is going to be a big fat told you so!

I admire Klopp, he's improved us 10 fold. Had couple of finals, OK didn't win but qualified for CL, through to the last 16 on course to qualify for CL again this season. HOWEVER I don't see his fascination with Karius. He's poor, nervous makes silly mistakes doesn't command like he should and unless he's a legend in training I can't see what he sees in him. Not that Mingolet is much better but for me clear all the keepers we have apart from maybe ward who I understand wants out and sign a good keeper.
