The transfer window is not officially open yet and already every possible media outlet has filled the hope void in my body with severe scepticism.

Deepite what anyone says, let us consider that four targets of ours were Van Dijk, Brandt, Sessegnon and Keita. Virgil is seemingly Chelsea's top target so let's wipe him off the list; Brandt wants assurances over playing time, something I am unsure whether LFC can provide him, so 50/ 50 (? ) ; Sessegnon is seemingly off to Tottenham, whilst not a vital move tin the current period of time, there is the opinion that he will become a very, very good left back, so possible future regret. Though in his position he may not want to move far from home so you cannot fully blame LFC there. Keita says he is happy at RBL and they are not looking to sell, unless it is for a heft fee. This leaves me, and no doubt many others confused as to actually where we are taking this transfer window. With the EDs saying we're not looking for a CB which is n absolutely huge mistake if so, I even doubt Matip to be honest. . I can't say I actually 100%believe in Klopp transfer wise, I love Gini but he often goes missing in games outside of the top 6.Obviously Mane is a complete hit, so i'll reserve my full judgements for now.

Anyway, I don't really know where was going with this but I just don't see us having as successful a window as people think we will. By September i think we'll all be a little disappointed from the targets being touted and money being suggested we possess. Does anyone else have the same thoughts or am i just a pessimistic lone wolf?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool will look for a centre back if someone is sold. There is interest in Gomez.}

Should keep Gomez and sell lovren.

2.) 30 May 2017 13:35:35
Sue. I 100% with you. Good post.

3.) 30 May 2017 14:30:33
Keep Gomez and sell Lovren'? LOL ok. People seriously play too much fifa or FM and think Gomez who has not played a game in a year is better than Lovren who just signed a 100 000 £ deal. Get over it, Lovren is obviously going nowhere soon! Sounds like Ilori the saviour!

Sue, 0 % with you. Bad post.

Shiisha, that's fine if you're against my thoughts. However, i never said keep Gomez and sell Lovren. I'd be against that since Gomez is unproven. Although, if what Eds said is the truth, then I truly hope we bin Lovren or Klavan to get someone better in.

I think you have to give the players we have at the club already a lot more credit. Lovren is a decent enough defender. Yes there are better but not that many massively who would warrant is going out and spending 50 million on one. Don't get me wrong I'd love an upgrade but VVD will make mistakes too, everyone does, and he seems to be the best available according to all. Full backs and a left sided attacker is where we have proper room to improve and where we are trying to. All other positions more options/ cover of the quality we have already would be decent as I don't see klopp leaving out mane, cout, firmino, lallana for anyone.

Gomez looked a very good prospect before he got injured.

Kopdog, Lovren is far too error prone for me. He constantly is being caught out of position or even just missing a tackle, which we saw against Middlesborough. Whilst 50 million is seemingly a lot, I think you no doubt have to consider the horrendously inflated market for good players and if i were a senior member of LFC a decent CB is needed. Maybe even a whole new back four, though i'd be happy to persevere with Clyne for the time being. As for midfield, I think we simply have to replace Henderson, i love him when he's playing but how often is that. His heel is a huge problem, sadly. I think we need a defensive midfielder quite badly. Even if lucas stays, and god knows he's showed great loyalty but again, for me he simply is not good enough. Can has come into his own of late but obviously the question of consistency is there. i think the consistency question lays heavily on Coutinho and Firmino too, so this coming season will be extremely telling. I don't really know how i'd answer that, so i'll reserve judgement until the end of next season. I. e Lallana, i think Klopp would leave him out if he got 'his man' so to speak, though i am unsure who that may be, perhaps same with forming too. Who am I to know though.

That's quite a depressing outlook to be honest - lots of options beyond those 4, what about Pereira, Luan, Keita and others being looked at?

In addition I honestly don't think we're a mile away from where we need to be next season as it is - signings are great but we don't need to strengthen in more than 2-3 positions with any urgency.

For me a new LB is a must, but if we get one (Pereira would be great) then Milner can also play RB and/ or TAA get some game time.

A new LW would be very helpful, but even if we can't find one, we would hopefully still have a great LB to create width (and Coutinho at LW isn't the end of the world! )

I do agree a new CB would be important as Lovren and Matip are just about OK but we lack depth and proven quality in the position behind them.

Anything else is a luxury IMO.

Let's all get depressed because we haven't spent £200 million since the last kick of the season.
Or would people be happier if we just made a series of quick expensive deals on utter dross?

probably because we did not spend 50 million euros on him, it was around 33-35 million euros.
