Hi Ed, do you know if Liverpool have any interest on Kouadio Kone? Looks a real talent, and seen some rumours around with them bringing in Weigl. Thanks.

Steveotto

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware of. I cannot imagine that DM would be open to selling.}

Hearing Morton may well be heading to Blackburn on loan. Good luck to him, hope it goes more like Elliott's than Clarkson's.

Steveotto

1.) 22 Jul 2022 08:51:59
Making room for an incoming midfielder perhaps?

2.) 22 Jul 2022 09:20:44
???? Has to be the plan - send out an 18 year old with 2 or 3 first team appearances and spend €50m on Nunes - that works!

3.) 22 Jul 2022 11:10:49
Well maybe the OX and Keita should be moved on as both out of contract next summer that would open up a space for Nunes.

4.) 22 Jul 2022 11:14:11
I think Ox might leave but Keita seems to want to hang on - perhaps for an inflated signing on fee - next summer.

5.) 22 Jul 2022 11:15:20
Doubt Morton going on loan really opens a space for an incoming. But it is interesting, klopp a few days ago was talking about Morton as an option as an 8 now, hopefully he can get the game time and deal with the physicality. Think it would require ox/ Naby to go for a new midfielder to come in, maybe impressed with bajcetic enough to view him as someone who can appear in early cup rounds and as emergency backup?

6.) 22 Jul 2022 11:59:03
I was really impressed with Bajcetic. I'm pleasantly surprised how well he coped with playing against/ with senior players. If Morton goes out on loan it makes a lot more sense for Bajcetic to step up and take the 5-10 games a season on.

7.) 22 Jul 2022 13:10:27
WDW it might not make sense to spend money but we aren’t really in a position to bank on a young kid to take control of the mid if sh1t happens and if he’s a bad game and the trolls come out and slaughter him! We are all for youth getting a chance but the epl is so strong now a draw is like a loss! We can’t rely on the mids we have with their injury history etc!
I’d rather bank on a proven player then a young kid to take the reins u can Talk all u want about not spending money and let the youth do it! U won’t be getting any Bonus points from anyone here!
This site will
Blow up if we loose Thiago hendo and fabs and young kids have to come in!

8.) 22 Jul 2022 12:54:08
Agree with mk here bajcetic was really impressive against RBL seems to have the stature if not the bull but his quality isn’t far off and he definitely sniffs danger.

9.) 22 Jul 2022 15:18:42
Site can blow up all it wants but the reality is that our opinions do not matter 1 iota do they? Big German fella and his staff are the only opinions on the midfield that matter.

10.) 22 Jul 2022 16:01:19
Not convinced that LFC base their recruitment strategy on stopping this site from blowing up.

11.) 22 Jul 2022 16:23:06
The club have took huge strides forward in the loaning of young players to further club relations and also player development. Morton needs to be playing men’s football u23s is not a challenge no more . Hopefully this tact will pay off for players and club alike .

12.) 22 Jul 2022 18:38:16
‪Well Liverpool have accepted a bid from the NHS for Ox and will use him for medical research‬.

13.) 22 Jul 2022 20:19:04
Bajtetic looks a very very decent prospect, I’d hope he’s given a chance to be back up to Fab as he reads the game well and looks like he has the physical attributes to play against older players as well as being extremely good on the ball. Could save us a lot of money. If he’s given a chance then there’s no need to spend any money, genuinely exciting prospect.

14.) 22 Jul 2022 20:53:47
Bajcetic's ball handling and passing reminded me immediately of Chirivella. But Bajcetic is taller, bigger and faster. And not shy to push forward (whereas Chirivella seemed static and very pass pass pass minded) . Big potential if everything goes right for this kiddie.

15.) 23 Jul 2022 10:03:30
@Jay, we aren’t reliant on kids - we currently have Fabs, Thiago, Hendo, Naby, Ox and Millie before we get to Jones, Elliot (who was labelled a future superstar) and Carvalho (this year’s contender) before we actually get to kids or pur another way we have nine midfielders before we need to field kids.

Yeah let’s spendable bucket load of cash that we don’t have because we haven’t bought a ‘star’ for a month now.

I look forward to the quarterly hour thread asking have we scouted the latest midfielder to be mentioned on twitter about whom 8 out of ten people who use the site have no knowledge of but are certain would be the perfect fit as a back up for midfield and cheap at £ 40 or 50 m.

16.) 24 Jul 2022 16:37:22
Tut tut WDW, we'll never win the transfer window with that attitude!

20 Jul 2022 11:37:24
Hi Ed,

Heard anything on Ox? Rumours West Ham are interested if Lingard heads elsewhere. Think it would be a good move for all parties.

Thanks.

Steveotto

{Ed002's Note - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (CM/RW) AOC is uncomfortable with his lack of game time and options are being sought by his agent. May look to run his contract down which will open up options. WHU and Aston Villa may provide options. Newcastle may provide another as they struggle to attract players.}

1.) 20 Jul 2022 11:57:08
Hope he is moved on asap! Seems a great fella but he’s no luck he’s on massive wages too!

2.) 20 Jul 2022 13:36:39
Think best for all parties he goes this summer, frees up a space and wages in our squad and for himself he gets more game time, he 28 now. we won't get very much money for him, reports of 7-10m.

3.) 20 Jul 2022 14:08:08
His sick note may kibosh a move this summer, but surely he'd rather go now than wait another year in an already short career.

4.) 20 Jul 2022 14:30:15
Didn’t he just do his Hammy in pre season? Or did the scan come back clear? Nobody’s taking him if so.

5.) 20 Jul 2022 14:39:36
He is here for next year. Just have to hope he can get and stay fit so he can help. It's a sickner how injury prone he is. We must leave him go next season. Would wish him nothing but luck in the rest of his career.

6.) 20 Jul 2022 19:04:25
He’s on about 7m a year maybe more would it not be best cancel his contract I can’t see anyone paying for him! Even get him a loan move?

7.) 20 Jul 2022 19:28:37
LiverpoolFC8, a mate of mine is a physio and she was telling me that because of the types of tendon injuries he’s had, he’s likely to be more susceptible to muscular injury?

8.) 20 Jul 2022 19:32:06
I’d just see if there was a way to mutually terminate his contract.

{Ed0666's Note - we could arrange for him to sample some of my wife’s cooking that would be instant termination.

9.) 20 Jul 2022 20:25:21
Cancel or terminate his contract, hahahah that's quality stuff.
How do you mutually terminate a player's contract if the player doesn't want to?
The extreme heat and transfer fever have addled some brains!

10.) 20 Jul 2022 20:37:10
Still think we could easily get £10m for him this summer. He's been mostly fit for the last 18 months and isn't out even mid-term with his current problem. Good player Ox who's well capable of doing a job in this league.

11.) 20 Jul 2022 21:07:44
Jay to unilaterally cancel his contract we'd have to pay off the remainder of what he's due to be paid in the last year. So we wouldn't save any money.

12.) 20 Jul 2022 21:27:48
I don’t know what they can do I’m just pulling stuff from the air! I’d be rid of him
Asap If I could.

13.) 20 Jul 2022 22:37:20
I would have always preferred Ox get more games than the likes of Keita, but with Elliot, Jones, Carvalho and hopefully Morton coming through I think his time is done. Massive shame as when he was on it in that first season he was one of the first names on the team sheet. Injuries just always got the better of him unfortunately. Best he move on.

14.) 20 Jul 2022 23:36:28
Interesting 6times. I hope it’s resolved because we need him to move on, £120k a week. He Didn’t complete 90mins in a single league game last season.

15.) 20 Jul 2022 20:20:10
That's harsh Ed0666 in fairness she does a mean take-away. The way she dials those numbers ?.

{Ed0666's Note - you better believe it bro ?

16.) 21 Jul 2022 01:50:48
I haven’t seen much of Morton but 15 mins to go in a tight draw 1 sub left idk Why people bring up a players wages? Doesn’t matter what he earns. If he ( the ox) gets fit and plays a few games I just keep going back to that screamer v city. Wether he gets 3k a week or 300 the ball ends up in same spot.

17.) 21 Jul 2022 06:11:19
I’d ignore the numbers @Scouse John. People either believe the people on social media who hear voices in their head or just make stuff up to try to persuade the easily lead that their opinions are fact.

There was a very good player inside Ox, and he was going really well until he stuffed his leg against Roma. Can he play 40 - 50 games a season at the top level? Imho, not these days but he is very good back up if we want an attacking midfield stand in if we are missing our starters. I’d say the most we are likely to get for him would be this season but the amount we would get will be weighed against his value to the squad both on and off the field for the coming season.

18.) 21 Jul 2022 07:56:38
Don't think he adds any value to the squad. He is destined to leave if not now then 1 year later. I would rather play one of your youngsters than him.

19.) 21 Jul 2022 08:14:13
I like Ox but the problem is in the last 3 months of the season when we were going for the lot there were numerous tight games with 15 mins left. And Klopp chose to use him for 0 minutes in 3 months.

The lad can be sold and thanked for his efforts for the club. We don't have to twist the knife as well just because he's not one of our blue eyed boys.

20.) 21 Jul 2022 08:30:28
I feel like Klopp and Liverpool might be cursed trying to get that kind of profile of a player, a midfielder that can dribble and drive at a defense from deep and either play a pass or shoot from distance, we have brought Ox, Keita, Shaqiri to fill that role and failed except some hot streaks here or there, with injuries being a huge part.

09 Jul 2022 20:38:05
Hi Ed2,

Seen some links to the young Ardu Guder of fenerbache, anything in them at all? Seems a real talent. Thanks.

Steveotto

{Ed002's Note - Adra Guler (AM) Kiddie who has attracted significant attention from across Europe. Not one for this summer.

27 May 2022 20:39:18
Hi Ed,

Any idea who the club might looks to IF mane is to leave?

I assume it would be someone to play centrally but can cover at least one wide position but can't think of too many of a good age that wouldn't be a huge risk and that also wouldn't cost a fortune. Think we may struggle in finding a replacement, Nkunku, Nunez and Joao Felix come to mind for me (hopefully not Dybala- injuries+age+wages) - but all have questions over how they'd translate to our system and league, all slightly deficient compare to what we're used to in different areas (hold up, linking play, goal record, pressing) .
However, we could opt to use Jota/ Firmino as the central options (and possibly Carvalho) and look for a wide player (e. g. Bowen, Dembele etc. ) but I'd be surprised as it's been clear since Diaz's arrival Mane is currently our best option centrally so losing him and not replacing that would certainly make us weaker.

Anyway, all just my opinion, what do I know? Now let's hope for a memorable evening tomorrow and I'm very jealous of any of you that have made the trip out to Paris, make the most it.

Thanks.

Steveotto

{Ed002's Note - Diaz, Jota perhaps.}

1.) 27 May 2022 21:44:56
Gnabry?

2.) 27 May 2022 22:17:13
You think we’d let mane and origi (and possibly Minamino) leave and not being in a replacement? When Diaz came in I thought he was a replacement for mane but am hopeful they share my view that having 5 starting quality forwards for the 3 positions seems to work very well and Firmino and Jota centrally recently have been unconvincing at best, but I’ll trust those in charge.

3.) 27 May 2022 23:48:26
Darwin nunez please! proper striker is necessary with him he can drift out wide pace, heading ability, strength brilliant option.

4.) 27 May 2022 23:45:33
They will pluck someone out of nowhere, as usual.

Eds any ideas where Kamada is moving? He looks like an ideal Bobby understudy.

{Ed002's Note - ——-This is the Liverpool page——-

5.) 28 May 2022 11:08:40
Cornet would be a good replacement at a great price.

6.) 28 May 2022 13:04:57
Maybe get Nketia from Arsenal and if not good enough sell him to Leeds in January.

7.) 28 May 2022 17:00:00
Dembele.

8.) 28 May 2022 19:30:37
Lois Openda?

{Ed0666's Note - I’d be happy to swap one Belgian striker for another as long as it isn’t benteke

9.) 29 May 2022 07:48:30
Careful Ed, we’ll end up with Lukaku.

Anyone think a 6-month prem loan (e. g., Southampton, villa, palace) might do Curtis Jones a lot of good?

We (hopefully) bring someone in in jan and he's further down the pecking order. He goes out gets some regular game time, finds some rhythm and when he comes back takes a squad role again after Naby, Ox, Milner all leave.

Steveotto

1.) 17 Nov 2022 19:07:39
I’d rather get him reintegrated into the team with us given our midfield shortage.

2.) 17 Nov 2022 19:08:45
If Jones stays fit he should get plenty of game time from Jan until the end of the season. The 4 players that look like they are ahead of him in the pecking order are Hendo, Fab, Thaigo and Elliot and 3 of the 4 have injury concerns themselves and all 4 can’t and won’t play every game.

3.) 17 Nov 2022 19:31:47
Ideally yes but once you start going through the players other teams have you quickly realise Jones wouldn’t be starting for any of them. Needs a Championship loan. He needed it 2 years ago.

4.) 17 Nov 2022 19:40:20
Exactly JK23, unless there’s a miracle in the January transfer window with first team-ready midfield reinforcements, we need all the bodies we can get in order to fight for that top 4 place.
The midfield especially also needs to see its average age come down significantly in the next season or two.
Jones has the perfect opportunity to make his mark, and let’s hope that he can step up.

5.) 17 Nov 2022 19:54:42
I think Curtis' priority is his fitness.

6.) 17 Nov 2022 19:55:16
Curtis doesn't start for us so I don't see how it's relevant to make a point that he wouldn't start for other teams.

7.) 17 Nov 2022 20:06:20
Klopp doesn't seem to think a loan would do him any good.

8.) 17 Nov 2022 20:11:10
Boy George would get into this Liverpool midfield at the minute.
If Curtis is still behind 4/ 5 players when our middle is a complete shambles, then he’s never going to be in the first 11 imo.

9.) 17 Nov 2022 20:14:38
Looks out of his depth in centre midfield.

10.) 17 Nov 2022 22:00:42
And yet the kid once assisted four goals in one game against Porto and ran the midfield Victor! The talent is there, its making himself consistently available for selection that's his problem.

11.) 17 Nov 2022 22:06:11
Jones tries but for me a move to a mid table Premiership club would be the best outcome for everyone.

12.) 18 Nov 2022 11:11:53
Well clearly a move to another team won't happen since he just got extended so that's a none issue, IMO. As long as Klopp sees him and a decent option in midfield or out wide left on occasion then, Im good. If he is not good enuff, we will find out.

Jones has been injured for the most part of the last 15 months so not sure why he is being judged when he has rarely played since the sample size is so small.

13.) 18 Nov 2022 11:18:52
He will be fine, gives us much needed legs in the middle. Would definitely be keeping him and trying to give him some game time when Thiago is out. Just can’t play him and Elliot together yet as leaves us vulnerable.

14.) 18 Nov 2022 13:17:49
We have a young local lad who wants to give everything for the team and all people want to do is say he isn't good enough
He needs a run of games and with lfcs midfield there no reason why he won't get that this season you never know what will happen at the world Cup Henderson and fab away Jones could be starting our first couple of games back!

We need to support our players especially the younger ones.

15.) 18 Nov 2022 21:02:51
I'm still giving Jones the full season before I give judgement on Jones. didn't get off to a good start being injured again. but against ajax he looked really good higher up pitch. Make or break season for me.

15 Oct 2022 12:35:12
Anyone take Ivan Toney as a striker option if we're to stick with the 4-4-2. Think options of Nunez/ Toney/ Jota/ Salah if Firmino goes looks pretty strong for the front 2. Been excellent this season, would be homegrown and is a Liverpool fan if I'm not mistaken.

Steveotto

{Ed001's Note - big Liverpool fan.}

1.) 15 Oct 2022 12:45:03
Would you take him Ed.

{Ed001's Note - yes probably would. I think he is ready for a step up.}

2.) 15 Oct 2022 13:09:30
I agree a quality striker and often overlooked by Southgate and Jesus he’s some penalty taker too, I’d certainly love to see him at Liverpool.

3.) 15 Oct 2022 13:26:13
Nice, I didn’t know that he is a Liverpool fan.
Good player, quick, strong and direct.
Definitely looks capable of stepping up.

4.) 15 Oct 2022 13:45:45
His passing is underrated as well. Excellent squad option.

5.) 15 Oct 2022 15:38:24
Yup, really good player, but unless he's got a release clause, or near the end of his contract, he'd cost an absolute bomb.

6.) 15 Oct 2022 16:27:00
Great player, was hoping we’d go for him before we stumbled upon Nunez. Would love us to get him in too but can’t see it happening as we’re now reported to be in contract extension talks with Bobby.

7.) 15 Oct 2022 19:38:34
Can we sign Bowen too?

8.) 15 Oct 2022 19:56:24
Don’t we need central mids as a priority jan/ summer?

9.) 15 Oct 2022 20:55:27
Toney ticks a lot of boxes. Being HG is a big one should be getting rid of Milner Henderson Nat and Ox so we’d need some HG players in. I still think we need cover for Salah though and if it came to one or the other id take a backup RW over backup ST.

10.) 16 Oct 2022 08:18:35
Then what happens with Nunez, then?

11.) 16 Oct 2022 13:50:49
nothing happens to Nunez he fights with Toney and Jota to start up front rather than Jota and Firmino.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has not shown any interest in Toney.

12.) 16 Oct 2022 21:21:46
We'd have to put up with Jamie Carragher calling him E-van Toney even more.
Naby Kite-a was bed enough.

14 Sep 2022 01:36:24
Much improved performance, regardless of result. What a difference Thiago makes. Almost as if Milner isn't capable to deputise to the required standard.

When an attack and defence that have looked good previously stop looking good, it's likely due to issues in midfield. Keep Thiago fit we're a very strong side, without him much weaker (same last season) . Hopefully Arthur can get up to speed and ease that burden slightly.

Steveotto

1.) 14 Sep 2022 06:29:15
In fairness not many are at Thiago's standard! absolute baller.

2.) 14 Sep 2022 07:18:13
Matip motm for me. He made VVD look more assured. What a difference he made to the defence and the attack.

3.) 14 Sep 2022 10:08:11
OP, not sure Milner starting the games he has started, was part of the plan going into the season so tone down on the Milner bashing. After all, he did not pick himself.

06 Jul 2022 11:33:40
Hi Ed001, I remember you previously talking about how players who rely on their explosive pace often encounter significant injury problems that hamper their game (Owen, Torres etc. ) . Do you see this being a potential problem with Nunez in the future?

Steveotto

{Ed001's Note - if injuries hit, then yes of course it could be a problem. It is less of an issue these days medically, but the mental damage is still an issue. Players are often afraid to use their power in the same manner as they did once they have suffered a repeat injury.}

1.) 06 Jul 2022 12:46:30
Nunez has had 3 knee injuries so far an acl a miniscus and something more minor 2 in the same knee and one in the other.

{Ed001's Note - you are missing the point, it is not knee injuries that cause the problem. It is muscle tears that affect them. Usually hamstrings, but sometimes it can be calf problems. Knee injuries are irrelevant to the issue we are discussing.}

2.) 06 Jul 2022 13:11:28
It is actually the knee itself that causes the problem and not the muscles. If someone has sustained an ACL injury, then it is usually repaired using an autograft (whether that is from the hamstring tendon, patellar tendon or quadriceps tendon) . Each have their pros and cons and are prone to re ruptures. This is often what kills their explosive speed.

In terms of the muscles itself, it will regenerate and you can build muscles up. So the main issues would be the ligament in itself which provides stability to the knee.

{Ed001's Note - again missing the point. It is not that I am talking about. Read what I said about the mental side of it. It is the muscle injuries that cause the problem as the player struggles to have faith it won't go again. It was not knee injuries that killed Owen's explosive speed or many others, it was repeated muscle injuries.}

3.) 06 Jul 2022 14:06:51
Another example. Pretty sure Torres had 2 separate muscle tears in late 2008 and was never the same player again.

4.) 06 Jul 2022 14:04:48
Edd001 he's very aggressive into his tackles. It is something I think a few fans think how long will we get out of him unless maybe a few tweaks are made to his game.

{Ed001's Note - that isn't normally an issue, it is those who are less aggressive that usually end up getting hurt as they are not committed in a challenge.}

5.) 06 Jul 2022 16:46:01
Blimey he’s not even played a game for us yet and you’re concerned about what might happen years ahead.

Enjoy the here and now I’d suggest!

6.) 06 Jul 2022 17:23:17
Exactly 1jj some can't enjoy the here and now it seems. Too busy panicking about something that might happen.

7.) 06 Jul 2022 17:50:29
I seem to remember the final blow for Torres being the 2010 world cup, when he was rushed back from injury. The season after he clearly was no longer the same player.

8.) 07 Jul 2022 07:53:46
Don’t forget as well fast twitch muscle fibres reduce as we age especially depending on peoples genetic makeup. Plus injuries will effect the training such players can do on these muscle groups depending on the extent of the injury etc.

9.) 07 Jul 2022 07:55:25
Can we allow the kid to kick a ball first before we start talking about how vulnerable he could be to injuries?

25 Aug 2021 21:47:42
Hi,

I'm looking to get two home tickets to any premier league game this season but don't know the best way to go about trying to get the tickets. Been a Liverpool fan my whole life and gone to a couple away games in the wrong end but never been able to make the trip to anfield but this year finances may allow it. Would appreciate any advice you have, not too bothered about where I'd be sitting, and as reasonably priced as possible.

Thanks.

Steveotto

1.) 25 Aug 2021 22:16:31
Get yourself a membership and join the ballot for home games. I think the window is still open for some games before Christmas.
It's a lottery but you may get lucky.

2.) 26 Aug 2021 07:53:53
Hospitality if you are flush. looking at 300 a ticket mind.

3.) 26 Aug 2021 09:40:03
There is a reseller I know of, doesn't charge massively. I hate giving money to touts but unless you go hospitality, it's the only option.

4.) 27 Aug 2021 05:53:19
Any details Stuie?

{Ed0666's Note - his names Barry and he lives in Louth. Nice guy but his tickets are fakes. You can find him in The Masons Arms in Louth he’ll be the one with a full Liverpool kit, a warm heart and doing the financial times crossword.

If we were looking at São Paulo, Lucas Beraldo would be the one for me. Not ready yet but a young, very talented left footed CB.

Could Enzo Fernández be the other? I know he’s just moved but seems certain he’ll be on the move again come the summer for crazy money. Incredible player, makes Benfica look a different side - still unbeaten in all competitions this season.

Hi Ed, I know he's only joined this summer, but any interest in Enzo Fernandez? Been very impressed every time I've seen Benfica, he seems the one to for from their midfield for me, all-round midfielder. If I could pick any player as a potential long-term Thiago replacement, he'd be very near the top of that list.

A cheap (ish) defensive option should be Manuel Ugarte of Sporting. Young, excellent ball winner and rarely looses the ball either. Exactly what we’re lacking at the moment. But doesn’t seem to be any real interest from us unfortunately.

Keita is not registered to play in the champions league, neither is Ox.

If we're going for a centre back from Inter, its Bastoni for me, young, good on the ball, 18 months left on contract, left-footed left-sided centre back, natural VVD long-term replacement.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have no interest in Skriniar or Bastoni.}

Klopp said when it was arranged he expected to be a able to field a team like todays, also featuring Jota, Naby, Jones, Tsimikas, one of Firmino/ Nunez, Ramsay, Ox. Making it a much stronger team, but due to injuries and niggles it became a team of kids that unsurprisingly were not able to be competitive against a side that came 6th in France last season. Still gives a run out to players that may be called upon in the early stages of the season, helping to ensure they’re fresh if required. Although the majority looked a way off ready for premier league action if being honest.

I would imagine this season we would most frequently see him playing on the wings to get him some game time while he learns the system and understands what is required to play at the very top. With a long term view to playing centrally.
