Hi Eds

First time poster but regularly check the site.

Has there been any consideration for Lanzini? Looks a smashing player with potential to improve with better players and a system that would suit?

Cheers
Seosamh.

Seosamh1990

{Ed001's Note - this has been answered, he was watched and so far his lack of consistency has seen him not be an option for recommendation to sign.}

1.) 04 Jan 2018 13:18:45
If we sold Milner coutinho can and lemar and Keita came in at the end of the season, I wouldn't say no as a squad player.

2.) 04 Jan 2018 18:54:58
Lanzini is ridiculously inconsistent and barely has one good game in six or seven and even then it’s usually against us. Ask yourself why no one else has had a look at him? It’s because he’s not very good.

Eds,

Are you aware of what the players stance is regarding the resumption of football?

Is it just a matter of if the decision is made then its out of their hands and they have to play or if they refuse they get no pay or disciplinary action gets taken etc?

Seosamh1990

{Ed002's Note - I have only spoken to one player in England about this, an Arsenal player, who is keen to see a decision made. If players were to refuse to play they would nominally be in breach of their contract but an argument could be made that it is reasonable to refuse as their health is being put at potential risk.}

1.) 29 Apr 2020 16:39:19
Can I ask did that player make you aware of whether they would be willing to play or if any others have any issues regarding resuming the sport?

While it is a reasonable stance surely they couldn't expect to continue getting paid or paid in full at least by the clubs if they aren't fulfilling their roles.

{Ed002's Note - We did not have that discussion. If clubs put peoples health at risk they have no sensible recourse to stop paying any who say they do not wish to play because of the risk

2.) 29 Apr 2020 18:00:47
Will there be a 2m off side margin 🤔.

Any of the Ed's give their view on the impending takeover at Newcastle and where this is going to leave the rest of the so called big clubs and where it may force the hand of them and pushing towards the euro super league.

Soon we are going to have maybe 7 or 8 clubs that will be needing to qualify for the champions league due to the amount they will be spending on wages etc every season and if there becomes the attractive proposition of having that money every year do you think that will see more club entertaining the idea of it?

Also do you see the takeover involving the saudis having an effect on the money put into the league from Qatar and other gulf states due to the ongoing tensions over there? If so could that also have an effect on the man city ownership?

Seosamh1990

{Ed002's Note - Amanda Staveley's PCP Group is pushing ahead with the purchase of Newcastle with the backing of the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, the chairman of which is Mohammed bin Salman who is heir apparent to the 84 year old King of Saudi Arabia. This should put the Premier League and the Government in a difficult position regarding the "fit and proper persons" test given that he has been involved with significant civil rights concerns, repression of women's rights, war mongering, diplomatic issues with numerous countries, mass executions and specifically the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

However, in terms of funding they need to comply with Premier League rules and with FFP, and when the qualify for Europe, UEFA FFP. As such, they can make an initial investment as new owners, but they cannot simply poor money in to transfers. I am not sure what you mean about Qatar. There is no impact on the Manchester City ownership.}

1.) 27 Apr 2020 22:16:41
It should put the PL and G'ment in a difficult position, but I suspect they'll find a way around it. Just another example of how the rich and powerful pretty much get what they want and we all just have to take it. How this regime gets the red carpet treatment is beyond me. The UK and other nations should not be selling arms to these barbaric murderers.
But hey, they've just decreed that they'll stop executing minors, bless em.

{Ed002's Note - It is unrelated to the rich and powerful getting what they want, but as you say it will likely go through.}

Can any of the eds share some info on what the plans are going forward for Trent. As in is there plans to move him into midfield or do is the club happy with him at RB for the forseable future?

Seosamh1990

{Ed001's Note - they are happy with him where he is for now at least.}

1.) 18 Apr 2020 06:19:51
He's the best RB in the league, possibly Europe. Why move him?

Everyone jumping on the 'We are too defensive bandwagon' and to me I can only see the same style of football that's been played all season and taken us to within touching distance of the so called best team in the premier league.

The facts are we have had a few 0-0 draws and they have been branded as poor performances but look at the flip side;

Salah had to great chances and fabinho had a great chance, if those chances were taken we win the game 3-0 and everyone would then be calling it a fantastic performance. Things like this really piss me off and I can't grasp wether people are being naive or just wanting to vent a someone by blaming klopp.

This happens in allot of football games, I remember going back to when we lost 3-0 at old trafford a couple of seasons ago and everyone described it as a 'hammering' but in that game united didn't create much they were just clinical and we must have had about 6 or 7 clear cut chances. If we had have scored a few of those we could have won the game.

Small margins always decide games and people need to start viewing football matches in a different way.

Look at united away to spurs for example, it was described as a defensive masterclass but in reality the defence on that day was shocking and were only saved by their keeper. On another day spurs could have put 6 past them with the same performance and then the opinion changes.

We still look good and we are as good as we were 3 months ago so be patient the goals will come!

Seosamh1990

1.) 04 Mar 2019 11:47:25
"We still look good" are you sure? What games have you been watching? Certaining not many of the recent away games. We don't have time for patience, it is now or never. 94 points would be my guess of what is needed, on current form we have no chance of that.

Posters have been saying the goals will come for 6 months. Time to try and win the league not be so scared to lose.

2.) 04 Mar 2019 11:58:57
Is the league won on current form? People said that citys form was bad in december and ours was league winning form and now that has switched over and could change again. Like I said its naive to think that this is how our results will be the rest of the season. Its not just about patience but as I pointed out, if we took a couple of those chances yesterday then it would have been a great win. Small margins that's the point.

And if you ask me I would rather go out and lose 4-3 having a go than keeping it a bit tighter and drawing 0-0 but let's be honest, yesterdays point and the ;point at old trafford could be the points that win us the league so we will see come may. No point slating the players they are doing their job and the fans are the ones piling the pressure on them.

3.) 04 Mar 2019 12:26:08
Our so called blip seems like it is never ending. It has lasted 10 games. The problem is we are not playing well enough atm to get the results we need to win this league. Yesterdays point could well be a disaster as well.

I hope we can agree we have to win our next few games.

4.) 04 Mar 2019 12:47:54
A poor Everton side who we should have played round and a United side falling down in front of our eyes and we never went for them? what's good about that? we have lost our nerve to attack teams, Matip has been our most creative midfielder, the Leicester game, they should of been out of sight before they equalised and when the front 3 are struggling we all know there is nothing coming from behind them, goals wise or chance creation wise, the midfield is as poor as it could be, 2 players bought in the summer with another one, who now looks like the most important one we targeted we missed out on, tactics and subs have cost us these last few weeks, we are 3/ 4 players away from competing with City and im not sure we have the funds do it, seems yet another big summer of the right recruitment is need (yet again)

5.) 04 Mar 2019 13:01:39
Of course I agree we need to win and we may well win our next 4 with city losing one and drawing one we just don't know what is going to happen.

6.) 04 Mar 2019 18:41:00
We have the second best attack in the PL so clearly, the forwards are doing something right even tho we have been more pragmatic this season and for good reason so the goals have been coming, Mark. What we are missing here is consistency in performances and that is lacking.

I mean, we put 5 past Watford and suddenly, we fluffed our lines vs Everton. What does that tell you? It tells me that we got too caught up in the derby hype and allowed occasion to get to us. It looked like even Klopp got caught up with that as well cos how else can one explain putting Lallana on for Mane? That is just insane. Unlike Utd, we created enuff chances to win the game and we fluffed our line.

That can happen cos well, City did the same thing and got beaten 4 times this season, while creating chances and dominating possession. It is all part of the process of trying to win the title in the most competitive PL season in history and LFC is PART of it. I am proud of that a lone. Will we win the PL? We shall see.

Makes no sense to be honest. Sell mingolet and karius? What then happens if alisson gets injured? Throw shaqiri in nets?

The players agent has probably released it to press for a new contract or something. Its pretty common these days.

Yes and then no english sides get into the next european competitions and would hit them financially so they wouldn't vote to void it.

We are 25 points clear its well earned. If the season were to be completed we could lose each game 10-0 and still win the title.

Sikaboy I think we kinda do play a 3 at the back in possession when the opposition is sitting deeper fabinho or henderson is he plays that role drop back. alternatively if you watch henderson always drops back as a 3rd center back on the right.

From my view its to automatically put the opposition on the back foot. I personally don't think we intend on winning the first ball but to challenge for it and potentially win a throw in high up the pitch or win the second ball and catch the opposition out of shape. Suppose there would be many ways of thinking as to why we do it.
