If the league Was 36 games not 38.
And we had to give Man City a 4 point head start. would anyone believe or bet on Liverpool to win the league?

SG8greatest

1.) 15 Aug 2022 23:17:37
Depends on the odds, but I certainly wouldn’t bet against them. This page is miserable after a bad result lol.

2.) 15 Aug 2022 23:19:19
Nope. I didn’t believe we would win it the year we did even when we were 9 points clear. It was only when we were like 17 points clear I thought “yeah that’ll probably do it”. I never underestimate LFC’s ability to throw something simple away. I have watched LFC since the early 90’s and we never seem to do things the easy way.

3.) 15 Aug 2022 23:20:59
Given our current form, one can only hope.

4.) 16 Aug 2022 00:37:46
You’re forgetting that our squad is far weaker this year and another year older. We had greater depth in squad with players like Minamino and Origi. Whilst they didn’t play every week they come in at pivotal points. Our bench tonight was turgid.

Well that pretty much sorts the league. We will get 3rd. so need to go full Strength team In every cup. No messing about with half arsed teams.

SG8greatest

1.) 01 Jan 2022 15:34:56
Pitiful.

2.) 01 Jan 2022 15:51:27
No point wasting time on the domestic cups. We don’t have the quality in depth to commit our best players to it and the bigger more important competitions. We should concentrate on winning our remaining games and the champions league, personally I can’t see city dropping any points between now and the end of the end of the season, they’ve been here before and once they’re on a run they’re impossible to beat. We made too many mistakes both on and off the pitch and we’re paying for them,

3.) 01 Jan 2022 16:08:30
After tomorrow we are down the 3 who are at the AFCON so even if we wanted to go full strength for the domestic cups we can't. Add in C.V. and I doubt we'll be full strength for a while to come.

4.) 01 Jan 2022 16:53:17
OMM can you not pull a sickie mate😉.

5.) 01 Jan 2022 17:01:12
Vvv they won't lose many games when all the refs and var are on their side mate. THAT was a absolute farce. Their still going to drop points for me mate. We still have a chance. The major issue I have with the club is lack of investment, if we don't sort that out soon we'll be scrapping for europa league next season at best. less if salah leaves.

6.) 01 Jan 2022 17:18:05
City has a large squad, C.V. could rip through it over the course of a few months and ruin their season. So let’s see what happens.

7.) 01 Jan 2022 19:42:37
Yeah let's hope they all get CV! Great idea 💡 🤔😑 I know we are desperate to win but come on. 🤣.

8.) 01 Jan 2022 20:18:32
VVV - Just wondering what mistakes we’ve made off the pitch? Thanks ☺️.

9.) 01 Jan 2022 21:40:37
Go on VVVV tell Droogie about Saul and Bissouma and Starr (but not Sanches and Traore) and about how we should have got rid of, in no particular order, Matip, Neco, Keita, Origi, Taki, Ox, Millie and probably a couple of others that I can’t remember. Oh yes and Klopp and FSG too.

10.) 01 Jan 2022 22:59:19
If City don't drop any more points between now and the end of the season, it'd mean a 28 game winning streak (they're already on 11 on the bounce) . Which would not only beat, but would in fact utterly obliterate, the existing PL record by 10 games.

Maybe I'll eat my words in May on this, but I don't see it.

11.) 01 Jan 2022 23:06:59
Forget off the field no one can think we have played well in the first half off the PL. We are on course for 82 points which is no where near. So everyone has to be accountable because we are under achieving.

12.) 01 Jan 2022 23:39:57
Off the pitch? Not replacing Wijnaldum was an error, regardless of his last season (in which he was almost the only centre midfielder fit and available week in week out) he was a reliable 7/ 10 player who was available every game, to me that’s a huge off the pitch error, not making a decision on Ox or Keita as they’ve not really contributed in their time, not selling one of Philips or Gomez as we only need four centre defenders, not bringing in another decent forward knowing we had the AFCON to contend with. Other than that, yeah, perfect preparation for the season.

And that’s not even mentioning the contract situations for Salah and Mane, who are now both entering the last 18 months of their contract without any sign of a new contract (and we’ve been here before), with no possibility of being able to afford a like for like replacement if the worst was to happen and they either don’t renew or we have to sell for peanuts because of the duress or circumstances.

Almost the only good off the pitch decision we did make was not signing Traore or Sanches. But that’s only because circumstances prevented them happening.

Ultimately we’re very far short of being good enough to be potential champions, City will probably win at a cantor, and they’re probably capable of going unbeaten the rest of the season, even the gaffer has said we needed to be close to perfection to contend and we’ve made too many mistakes. If you genuinely think everything in the garden is rosy, then I’m happy for you, but I beg to differ. As would the facts when you scratch the surface.

13.) 01 Jan 2022 23:42:54
WDW, haven’t you m heard? If the club doesn’t do what people want, it’s a mistake. As if had the club did what they wanted then automatically things would be better forgetting that there are NO guaranties in football. It’s mad.

14.) 02 Jan 2022 00:34:58
The difference for me is the statement of fact ‘The club has made loads of mistakes’ versus the offering of an opinion.

It is fairly regular for people to assume that opinion is fact these days.

The trouble is you can’t really have a sensible discussion with someone who assumes all their opinions are fact.

Take the example of replacing Gini- replacing Gini with a Gini clone means the team doesn’t actually improve - at best it stays the same and, as virtually everybody else’s opinion has it if you don’t improve you are actually going backwards. Never mind that Jones, Elliot and Morton etc represent the future (perhaps an improved future? ) the fact that fans have been shifted from their comfort zone means they can’t possibly entertain a difference of opinion and, in a lot of cases, a sensible debate.

15.) 02 Jan 2022 10:03:00
VVVV, did the club not tie down multiple first team players to new contracts, VVD, Hendo, Robertson, Ali etc? To me, that means it is glaringly obvious they are working on sorting contracts, which also implies that Salah's situation isn't the most straight forward and possibly Mané will not be getting a new one, who knows. to say nothing was done off the field isn't correct, they also sorted the additional stadium works.

16.) 02 Jan 2022 10:23:47
Win and this is the greatest Liverpool team ever. Draw, or God forbid lose, and half the squad suddenly isn't good enough and Klopp/ FSG don't know what they're doing. It's bipolar, and it makes for some comical reading.

Perception is skewed by the squad that City have accumulated and the money they have spent in doing so. If City weren't so dominant, losing and drawing a couple of games a season would be seen as a fantastic achievement in this league.

Posters on here get frustrated because FSG can't/ won't match City financially so immediately vent at the nearest outlet, which is to slag players off that aren't worthy in their eyes.

The bit they can't accept when they want player X gone is that Klopp DOES rate that player, or he wouldn't be here.

And this guy Klopp seems to know his stuff about players, no matter how frustrated posters get claiming they know better.

17.) 02 Jan 2022 11:26:14
WDW, we’ll said. A lot of them shift the goalposts vid they are only interested in being right, as if there is some prize to be claimed for that. A healthy debate cannot be had if one party is ONLY interested in being right.

In their minds, Club did not do what I wanted hence, club made mistakes. This is what we are being afflicted with each time we don’t win. Funny thing is that when we win, they never come out to say they were wrong or that the club made the right choices. Now that would be some bipolar type stuff right there, lol.

We win 8 in a row in all comps with 6 in a row in the league yet not a peep, no mistakes made by the club off the pitch. So the club only made mistakes off the pitch or didn’t do what I wanted hence, mistakes were made whenever we don’t win? Well, that clears things up pretty nicely, doesn’t it? 🙄🙄.

Hi all. Was just thinking about 5th place and if it's possible we can make champions league with 5th. I've been reading conflicting articles. So What if Utd win the Europa League.? Does 5th get a place or is it just top 4 still.

SG8greatest

1.) 26 Apr 2021 18:39:19
I thought 5th got us in but it doesn’t. 5th and 6th Europa I am kinda hoping for 7th. Anyway 7th is more possible than 4th.

2.) 26 Apr 2021 18:51:18
Just done a little research and it appears 7th is likely to be the new pub competition so we have to avoid that at all costs. It is way to complex to work out all the permutations atm.

3.) 26 Apr 2021 20:01:04
I think that if we can not make top four then I would prefer to finish 8th.
This will give us an opportunity to compete in the cup competitions as well as concentrating on regaining out title.

4.) 26 Apr 2021 20:11:23
We don’t deserve champions league football. As it stands this team is a Europa League outfit at best. Bar probably Salah, who’s put in a 6/ 10 most games, not one of them have deserved to wear our badge.
Forget the excuses, 90% of games this season the Effort has been disgraceful. They simply wouldn’t have gotten away with it with fans, no chance
Nobody can say we deserve Europe, we don’t deserve top 4 at all.

5.) 26 Apr 2021 22:30:47
Unless we finish fourth, then we do deserve it, as that will be where we finish.

6.) 27 Apr 2021 00:12:33
the answer to this question should be a sticky post at the top of the page lol

no bonus prize for finishing 5th mate.

Anyone impressed with the Ox yet? Got that humble pie in the oven as per my original post on him when we bought him . 😀. Knew he would be good for us. He has all the attributes.

SG8greatest

1.) 12 Apr 2018 18:13:39
I confess that I did not want Ox here based on his Arsenal tenure. However, I said that if he is who Klopp wants, I would support him as he is now one of us and family is family. TBH, I am indeed surprised about his performances overall and he will definitely get better. He is not the finished article yet but he is getting there.

2.) 12 Apr 2018 20:09:36
Happily eating humble pie. Thought he was nowhere near good enough. He has really grown on me immensely. Likeable lad, real character and plays for the shirt. He is also clearly listening to Klopp.

3.) 12 Apr 2018 20:46:27
I personally think he will only get better for us. I'd love to see him get a few more goals and assists.

4.) 12 Apr 2018 20:54:20
New cult hero 🐂.

5.) 12 Apr 2018 22:04:53
i think his biggest detractor is that people forget he's only 24, he stagnated under Arsene but he's only getting better with us.

6.) 12 Apr 2018 22:53:29
I was happy when we signed Ox, I didn’t expect him to be as good as he has been nor did I expect him to play as much as he has. I thought he would be more a squad player that mainly comes on as a sub and starts maybe 10-15 all season. But I’m glad Klopp has had faith in him in giving him lots of game time because for me he has been out second best midfielder behind Hendo this season. He lacked confidence at arsenal and was poorly managed. The lad will only get better here at Liverpool and under Klopp. YNWA.

The ox is a beast by the way 🐂.

His attitude more like the beast, SG.

Once a person is comfortable. ie. house paid for. Nice car. Family set for life. It just becomes greed. If it was me I would pick what I wanted to do over money. Well I'm broke and I do that anyway so.

TRENT is world class. Some of his shots and passes are unreal. Any team wouoild want him or woul Sign him given The chance. he's probably worth 150 mil minimum.

SG8greatest

{Ed025's Note - Trent is a very talented individual SG, my problem is that im not sure what his best position is mate, hes not anywhere near world class yet but certainly has the potential to be in that bracket..
