Alright eds, any interest from us in Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella?

{Ed001's Note - he has come out publicly and said he would like to join us, hence the reported interest. He has been monitored but we have shown no signs of actually doing any more, as of yet, than keeping an eye on his progress.}

1.) 16 Oct 2018 09:19:26
Is he any good Ed?

{Ed001's Note - very highly rated mate, not seen anything of him yet to judge him sorry.}

2.) 16 Oct 2018 12:02:05
Cheers ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

Ed001, what do you think of the Athletic football writings? R they reliable in your opinion mate?

{Ed001's Note - not read any, but I doubt they are any better than any other publication as they just consist of people gathered from those places.}

1.) 03 Aug 2020 21:09:30
I think some of the stuff on the Athletic is superb, particularly the in depth articles. I read a brilliant one a while back about Antonio Conte and why he is so disliked by Lecce fans. If you are looking for intelligent and insightful football articles then I recommend the Athletic.

2.) 03 Aug 2020 21:43:54
Thanks ed. Yeah I've read and some stuff of theirs and thought it was very informative and well written.

{Ed001's Note - then that is how to judge it mate. If you have read it then you are better placed than me to decide how good it is!}

3.) 03 Aug 2020 22:07:36
It might be well informative and well written mate but that doesn't mean I believe it lol. As u say they just get the best local writers about to write for them. Cheers.

4.) 04 Aug 2020 05:13:15
Don’t believe what? They rarely get involved in transfer rumours, it’s mostly interviews, tactical analysis and articles written by people who know what they are talking about.

5.) 04 Aug 2020 07:55:23
The problem is that football journalism is an oxymoron in this era. I’ve read some articles off The Athletic and they’re decent but I’m not willing to pay for the privilege when so much else is free these days. I’ll stick to my informed in depth analysis here!

6.) 04 Aug 2020 07:58:44
It's all big long words on there.

Thinking about last nights match and its understandable that there would be a drop off after we won the league. Not a drop off in effort but in focus. The lads have been so determined and focus for along time now. Getting to the final afew years back then going again and winning it and coming so close in the league, then going again this season and doing what they have done. This season has been an absolute dream, we have not come accustomed to winning the league like City or other teams had so it's still a new learning experience for us, which imo will make us stronger next season.

Now that this season is over I'd like to see Klopp mix it up a bit and play the likes of Jones, Elliott and Williams, maybe even try a few different formations. No1 is really grabbing hold of that midfield spot that's available, AOC and Keita have both had opportunities and havnt been great so I would like to see Trent move into midfield just to see how he gets on. Anyway roll on next season till we do it all over again.

1.) 16 Jul 2020 12:12:24
I'd like Minamino to get 90 mins personally. He shown a few more glimpses last night, neat touches, runs, a goal could really help settle him down and find his feet.

2.) 16 Jul 2020 12:16:05
Think Naby been getting better every game. He needs to be playing not getting dropped to play right backs and kids in his position.

3.) 16 Jul 2020 12:20:11
I couldn't agree more mate I'd love to see things changed around a bit especially with Trent in midfield.

4.) 16 Jul 2020 12:32:34
Both errors came from trying to play out the back, something we have done all season and got away with. The amount of times we have almost been caught out with this nonsense is very high and last night we finally paid the price. We play this high risk game of trying to play out elegantly and a lot (not ALL) of the time end up booting it up field anyway. So frustrating to watch.

5.) 16 Jul 2020 13:49:09
I think the error for the 2nd goal last night was the throw from Robo. Surely that had to go up the line?

6.) 16 Jul 2020 16:12:17
Definitely with you there roro alison wes definitely not at fault for that goal it was the pass back to him.

7.) 16 Jul 2020 19:52:56
Cant agree with Naby getting better every game. Last week against Burnley Jones was the best player on the pitch. When he was subbed for Keita we weren't the same.

Sorry if this has been talked about b4 but ed001 iyo why did Danny Ings not make the grade at liverpool? Was it the injuries, or did he not want to sit on the bench?

{Ed001's Note - injuries, simply that.}

1.) 12 Jul 2020 21:00:51
Injury ruined his time with us, unfortunately. Of all the players that have left LFC since Klopp arrived, Ings is the one departure I regret happening.

Heaven knows what might have been had those injuries not happened. Keep in mind OP, that he had two devastating knee injuries and the fact that he not only still has a career but he is ripping it up, is a testament to his mental strength and immense ability and talent.

2.) 12 Jul 2020 21:57:49
I’m really pleased about his form this season - I he didn’t do anything wrong, he was just desperately unlucky. Seems only right that he is showing just how good he really is with Southampton. Good luck to him for a change.

3.) 12 Jul 2020 21:58:16
Yeah I remember the injuries but I always thought he suited r pressing style of play. Was more wondering did he choose to leave or was he not wanted?

Being honest, this VAR is turning me off the game.

1.) 09 Jul 2020 21:54:19
It's their 13th pen awarded in the league this season, almost double 3rd place, not surprised 😂.

2.) 09 Jul 2020 22:09:37
It'll never turn me off the game, but it is ridiculous. They're looking at everything like it's all objective, it's not mathematics, it's the beautiful game. I've never seen as ridiculous a decision as the spurs one. Where matey fell over, morra. I don't think they have a choice but to wait till the season is over, then they can revisit it and readjust it.

This says it all; there have been just as many bad decisions since it came in as there was before. OK, the offsides have been sorted (nearly) but the hand balls by strikers. It doesn't work. If I had a choice I'd keep it but get it sorted. I don't have answers, but I hate conceding a goal that should have been disallowed more than I enjoy scoring a goal that shouldn't have been (unless its against utd where I get a perverse pleasure over it)

I agree though, in its present state it is an absolute embarrassment. Games flowed better before and I wonder if refs are getting pissed with it too?

3.) 09 Jul 2020 23:16:58
They get one every game. There’s a handful of them that are not penalties, not just this one. This VAR goes deeper than penalties though it’s been atrocious, get rid!
Common sense has been over ruled by replays and armpits.

4.) 09 Jul 2020 23:40:59
Robbiesline - You shouldn’t give a damn what refs think, frankly. They are the reason VAR has been so badly implemented in English football. If refs they did their jobs properly, incidents like the absurd penalty decision tonight would not happen.

5.) 09 Jul 2020 23:46:23
Thankfully it looks like fifa are taking over var. not sure how much of an improvement that’ll be but something had to change after this season in the PL. If the World Cup was anything to go by it’ll be a lot better run by fifa.

6.) 10 Jul 2020 01:17:41
I dunno lowel mate. Linesmen and refs {especially in the last 15 years) see things that are so tight and so fast it is amazing. Especially when you see a replay and the ref called it correct by a centrmetre. I'm no ref lover BTW, but they must take pride in their jobs to rise to pl ucl level. And they are now bound by these new rules which can over rule z ref. So I bet there are loads where the ref thinks "that should've been given" but had to follow the law. Maybe not. Look they get loads wrong but no more than Var does, and Var has all the time in the world.
