Hi eds,

I was wondering is there a future for Wilson at LFC? Seems to be doing well on loan and internationally?

Cheers in advance!

Redward

{Ed002's Note - A tough one. In the short term probably not but another year on loan then maybe. I rather doubt it.{

1.) 27 Mar 2018 00:43:53
He's doing great but still too early for him to come into our team. I don't think he'd get game time with us next season, he needs another loan at maybe one of the promoted teams then should he still be interested he comes back to us.

2.) 27 Mar 2018 05:11:04
He has a lightweight frame. Unless he bulks up, the best way he will survive in the PL is to play a role similar to Coutinho, out wide cutting in. he's not as good on the ball as him but probably as good at shooting. He has good acceleration and his passing is pretty good. But he is severely one footed and so its easy to defend against him. I don't think i've ever seen him try to go on the outside of his man. He will either need to look overseas or maybe a lower PL team but suspect there is no long term future at LFC for him.

3.) 27 Mar 2018 08:00:25
plays and looks like a young fernanado torres though!

4.) 27 Mar 2018 08:30:55
Salah isn’t the biggest but he’s as strong as an ox. I’ve been impressed with Wilson’s performances at Hull. Don’t forget that The Championship is a very physical division and he’s more than holding his own.

5.) 27 Mar 2018 10:39:55
Very good player would like to see him go out on loan to a premiership team next season. After impressive start to his loan in championship. Same with Ojo then make a decision end of next season.

6.) 27 Mar 2018 10:55:33
You don’t have to be big to be strong on the ball just look at Sterling!

7.) 27 Mar 2018 14:14:23
In his latest interview he said he stated he wants to play for the first team next season or maybe another, I like his down to earth attitude/ no toys out the pram

He knows next year may not be the year but he’s willing to bide his time.

8.) 27 Mar 2018 15:57:39
Keita as well, not the biggest but he mixes it up with the best of them because he is physically very strong, Kante as well. Wilson appears to be stronger than he looks and playing in a more physical and competitive league than reserve football is going to benefit us, hopefully he will be competing for a first team start if he keeps up his progress.

9.) 27 Mar 2018 17:02:49
Another year in the championship would be perfect for him. If he does well next season in a very competitive and physical league, he’ll be far better for it than sitting on a bench most of the season. Same for Woodburn IMO.

I have to say, I wasn’t sure Wilson could reproduce his form in a more challenging league, but he’s doing well so far to force Klopp to take notice. Fair play lad.

And as for Torres comparison?

10.) 27 Mar 2018 17:39:23
small and one footed depends how good you can get that one foot ask messi and salah would not say they use there right foot a lot.
messi
Left foot – 406 goals
Right foot – 71 goals
Header – 21 goals
Other body part – 2 goals
salah this season in the prem
Goals 30
Goals With Header -1
Goals With Right Foot -4
Goals With Left Foot -25.

11.) 27 Mar 2018 20:42:41
Wilson is even more one footed than either of those 2. Plus he is not as good on the ball. So yes whilst its possible to excel in the league if you can't play with one foot, I suspect Wilson is not going to be one of them. Id like to be proved wrong but there are a number of others such as Woodburn who are ahead of him.

12.) 28 Mar 2018 00:29:47
One thing in Wilsons favour is he is scoring goals at each level he's playing at. If he he can carry on scoring he'll get game time even if other areas of his game need work.
I think a loan next season would be best for him.

13.) 28 Mar 2018 03:58:26
Never forget - unless he has been massively improving whilst out on this loan, I would agree that another loan is best for him.

14.) 29 Mar 2018 20:03:43
Been championing this young man for a long time now, he needs games in a senior team at Championship club level or higher - he has scored at every level now except Premier League level (hasn't played in the Prem. yet), which shows he definitely has something about him, not sure what exactly your problem is with him phil_LFC but I have watched this kid play since he came into the under 16's and I can tell you right now he has a lot of potential.

Of course Messi and Salah are better one footed players, but they are better one footed players than 99.99999% of the world's population that has ever walked the Earth.

Wilson has just turned 21, bags of potential, scored at each level he has been tried at, offered a new contract by Klopp (to both preserve his selling fee if he fails, which he hasn't as yet and keep him tied to us if he did well, which he has so far) - I mean, what more can you ask of a young, small (physically) player, who has Salah playing off the chart in his preferred position in the first team right now?

Wilson scored goals for fun in the under 23's while more established players like Danny Ings (Ings playing in more of a central attacking position) hasn't hit the net nearly as regularly.

Make no mistake, this Wilson kid has something very naturally special about him, not forced or coached, mark my words on that - he needs exposure to top football and get his game consistently for 12 to 18 months, then we'll see his potential being fulfilled, or lost if he doesn't continue to knuckle down and keep working his socks off.

{Ed025's Note - its all about timing kev, if hes put in and things dont go well then his confidence could be shot never to return, when the time is right (only klopp can decide that) he should be given a spell on the bench and brought on if the game is won or else be given a shot in the league cup side or play if the opposition is weak, its a tough call mate but if hes never given his chance then we will never know..

15.) 30 Mar 2018 00:59:01
Exactly Ed.
I feel he needs 30 or so games before we see where he's going in his career.
I certainly wouldn't rush him.
He could be a very useful backup for our wingers in the second half of next season and then assess him from there again.
With any luck, he'll make it.
Certainly I'm jealous of the Welsh that he's one of them :)

Hi eds, I was wondering how much of Salahs amazing season been down to Klopp? Surely this must show how Klopp take players onto another level?!

Cheers in advance.

Redward

{Ed001's Note - and how is anyone meant to measure that?}

1.) 28 Feb 2018 16:08:06
I’ll have a go. Eighteen percent. He also prefers running on English grass, so maybe another 2 percent there.

2.) 28 Feb 2018 16:18:23
Clearly you use a Klopp-o meter to measure Klopps effect on players!

3.) 28 Feb 2018 16:50:09
I'm not saw anyone, including klopp expected salah to score as many as he has. Last season the goals were spread all through the team. Of course since seeing salah's ability he is put in a more goal scoring position in open play.

4.) 28 Feb 2018 16:54:54
I can't prove or measure it, but i think it is more down to Firmino being a more creative and selfless striker than Dzeko. Salah was as much a creator at Roma as a goalscorer, whereas here he is the main goal threat. He had to play around Dzeko, whereas Firmino is intelligent enough to vacate space so others can burst into it. They are more of a partnership.

{Ed001's Note - Salah himself has said that Klopp told him to play more forward and look for more goals rather than to create.}

5.) 28 Feb 2018 17:07:22
That's good to hear i think Ed. It shows Klopp has an eye for how to get that little bit extra out of an already exceptional talent. I do still think Firmino allows Salah to get into those positions though. Dzeko would've just attacked the same balls and got in his way making runs into similar areas, so he was more of an orthodox wide forward. He kind of has a free role in our team, and the right forward area is just his starting position. It's great to watch though. Hats off to Klopp!

6.) 28 Feb 2018 17:15:47
Well, it's down to the system that allows our wingers to play as forwards more or less. So yes, it is down to klopp. But he didn't give mo a little red klopp pill that guarantees 3 goals a game and glossy shine to the hair.

7.) 28 Feb 2018 17:33:34
With a kloppometer 👍🤦🏻‍♂️.

8.) 28 Feb 2018 17:55:20
Absolutely agree with you MK, Firmino is a very fundamental key to the system working as his intelligence on and off the ball is so important. Also helps that if one of them doesn’t score one of the others will.

9.) 28 Feb 2018 21:17:49
I think the way the team is setup to play (and therefore Klopp) has been instrumental to Salah scoring more. The other key factor has been Firmino and the interplay between the front three creating chances for each other.

The whole attack is built around all three of the forwards scoring goals, and also Firmino being the creative influence, often dropping deeper at times to get on the ball or break down play, creating space in behind for Mane and Salah to exploit with their pace and goal scoring abilities.

He’s been a revelation with it, but it’s a very different system to say Tottenham, Chelsea, Utd where he wouldn’t have as many opportunities to attack the central areas as those spaces would already typically be occupied by a Lukaku or Morata.

Take a look at how often Salah is scoring from a run into a more central position, and often more advanced than Firmino.

Hi eds, I was wondering who has the final
Say on tranfser is it Klopp or FSG, because this month has become a joke, unless we get someone in over the next 2 days (which I can’t see happening) . It’s so disheartening to see that we left PC go and there wasn’t a replacement lined up we have known since the summer he wanted to go, and DS going too is weakening the squad. do FSG have to sanction the deal or is it Klopp that gives the go ahead? Thanks in advance.

Redward

{Ed001's Note - Klopp.}

1.) 30 Jan 2018 10:54:53
Hows it been a joke? we just spent a huge amount of money on VVD, a position what before January, we'd of all agreed on was #1 priority so what you talking about? everybody wanted a top CB in, we got it, nobody seems to be happy unless we're buying new players, I understand we need some reinforcements but we can't go daft we need to be careful with who we buy. DS going isn't weakening the squad at all, he didn't play so wtf? Ings and Solanke was ahead of him anyway so what's the big deal?

2.) 30 Jan 2018 11:13:47
Did you watch the game Saturday evening Salah?

3.) 30 Jan 2018 11:55:59
Yeah chum i did, what's your point mate?

4.) 30 Jan 2018 12:10:04
he played and scored in it chum.

5.) 30 Jan 2018 15:24:48
maybe Chum is refering to the fact that in this transfer window, certain areas should have been addressed, for example, we have the worst Keepers in the premiership, our midfield looks so un balanced its a joke,
when we play teams like Man City, we should play one way with certain players,
then playing swansea and west brom, a different team and a different game plan,
Klopp doesn't get this, and just hopes that our fantastic forward play bails us out .

6.) 30 Jan 2018 16:10:58
The way everyone is saying Chum makes this entire thread sound exceptionally passive aggressive.

Hi Eds, I️ know he has signed a new deal but how is Grabara rated at LFC? Is seen to be a first choice keeper in years to come? Is he someone that Klopp is interested in promoting to the 1st team?

Thanks in advance!

Redward

{Ed001's Note - from what I have been told after asking, he is very highly rated, which is why he got the new contract, but he is more likely to go on loan than get promoted, unless we lose 2 keepers from the first team. Though that is not beyond the bounds of possibility in the summer.}

1.) 09 Dec 2017 06:50:08
He’s potentially a very very good keeper.

23 Nov 2017 19:58:18
Hi eds, does Klopp genuinely think our squad and first 11 is good enough to compete at the highest level?

Thanks in advance!

Redward

{Ed001's Note - you mean the team and squad that is top of its Champions League group, ie is competing at the highest level? Are we talking about that squad and first 11?}

1.) 23 Nov 2017 23:55:36
Do you even follow football Redward?

As ed says, we're top of our group in champions league.
On top of that we're 5th in what is probably the toughest league out there - 1 point off 4th, 3 points off 3rd and 4 points off 2nd. If that ain't good enough for you, I'm not sure anything will ever be.

2.) 24 Nov 2017 10:41:41
And also 12 points off top. We need to strengthen especially in defense and klopp knows that. Hope OP gets the answer.

3.) 24 Nov 2017 10:56:39
We can compete at the highest level but win anything, very unlikely with that squad and it’s frailties. 1 or 2 additions and we’ll be challenging and winning things.

4.) 24 Nov 2017 17:00:37
We won the champions league with a worse squad, anything can happen in 90 minutes, cup competitions are different, the league? No I think everyone is so far off city, not in terms of points but actual quality, but cups? Why not!

12 Nov 2017 10:37:50
Hi eds, something a bit different here, does anyone know when our NewBalance deal ends? And if there are any new kit suppliers eyeing up taking over when and if they don’t extend their deal?

Thanks in advance.

Redward

1.) 12 Nov 2017 14:49:04
They signed a 6 year deal in 2012 under warrior but changed to new balance which is the same company.

2.) 12 Nov 2017 18:30:21
Bring back Adidas kits!

Baz.

I also feel we have very similar midfielders to him, where as I think Keita is more like Lallana better, quicker and more direct with and on the ball.
