Liverpool Echo reporting of a bid of £23.5m for berahino. Can't see us wanting that walking attitude problem myself.

Redsince85

1.) 30 Dec 2015 17:37:35
its not the Echo reporting it.

2.) 30 Dec 2015 18:16:59
With his reputation for having a poor attitude, I doubt the club would risk that kind of money.

3.) 30 Dec 2015 21:49:41
The echo reporting it from a 'Spanish source'

4.) 31 Dec 2015 08:30:21
Risk that amount of money? Balotelli anyone?

Hypothetical question for the fans.
Would you rather be one of the 5 English teams to break away in a European super league, potentially at this present time being the whipping boys?
Or stay in England, likely as the top side, winning the league on a regular basis but against no real competition?
I imagine any top players would go to the super league and the standard of England would decline.
Personally I'd go in the super league in the hope of improvement and have our rightful place sitting at the top table.
Thoughts?

Redsince85

1.) 02 Mar 2016 10:10:58
I prefer a national league like we have so away support lives on. Away fans are the lifeblood of the game, you're not going to get many people flying all over Europe.

We have the best league in Europe commercially and from a spectator point of view, I see no reason for change.

2.) 02 Mar 2016 11:10:51
I agree with Ron that the away fans are the best days I've had out in years when where up in the north I love it! With this super league the thing I would suggest is that the lowest place national side goes down to the premier league and the top side goes into this super league. with the away support for the super league surely the amount of money sky and BT would pump into it the club would have to put on some sort of travel discount on or this would be the end of football as we know it unless you have wealth and can afford to travel because the price of tickets will sky rocket and there wouldn't be anything anyone could do about it.

3.) 02 Mar 2016 12:44:53
As a counter point to Ron - as a Londoner (which I respect most of the country are not) - a trip to Paris, or Barcelona or Mardrid or even Munich (which I do fairly regularly by car, train and plane) is rarely much longer and often MUCH cheaper than a trip to Hull or Newcastle. Quick check online - flight to Barcelona, cheapest is £24 return and a 2 hour flight. Same weekend, cheapest train to Newcastle is £130 and takes 3.5 hours.

4.) 02 Mar 2016 13:18:14
Yeah well that's the price now.

Do you think the price of air/ train travel will stay the same when there's an away game on?

Experience tells me you are in for a surprise.

5.) 02 Mar 2016 14:21:58
Was just about to say the same thing there if they know the business is there that price would not stay the same it's exactly the same when there a cup final on the prices at least doubles for trains ect the travel companies would have a field day if they know every other weekend teams are playing away across Europe somewhere that place like saying we were playing Barcelona the prices to said airport would be ridiculous and ones around said place.

6.) 02 Mar 2016 17:25:12
No it probably wouldn't stay the same. But even if it was x5 more, you still have a tenner spare - not to mention that you end up in a top European city. Face it guys - the price of the actual tickets aside, traveling into Europe is often much less expensive than travelling within the UK which is a joke even on the most off peak tickets available, and rising about 5% a year!

29 Feb 2016 21:18:14
Far from jumping on the slagging players off over penalties bandwagon but surely there's a chance of Henderson moving on in the summer. Just doesn't run games, goes missing far too often, rarely scores, the odd assist, can't remember any important tackles to speak off. Just doesn't inspire confidence in the team whatsoever.

Would love us to have some real quality in the middle of the park to play with Can. Everyone going on about keeper, CB, fullbacks and strikers and I agree but surely some quality in the middle of the park is needed. Thoughts?

1.) 29 Feb 2016 23:29:57
Thoughts? You're wrong on just about every conceivable level.

2.) 29 Feb 2016 23:49:54
Think before you post next time, Red85.

3.) 01 Mar 2016 00:13:47
I know he's not been that great recently but I think that's down to his injury that I think he's still carrying.
He's an excelent player on form, one we are lucky to have especially as Brendan nearly used him as a down payment for Dempsey.

4.) 01 Mar 2016 00:14:34
Midfield is a weakness but I don't think it's just down to personnel and Hendo is coming back from a bad injury.

Don't know why he's the latest scapegoat.

5.) 01 Mar 2016 01:01:10
No dig here but, He's not good enough to captain Liverpool. He had an impossible job of following Gerrard but everything aside he simply doesn't effect games.
I think the kid works hard and is a decent little squad player. But what are we actually aiming for us as a club?
Top European Team again, or 9th in the league and The odd cup run?
Some fans have settled for This. We need quality players.

6.) 01 Mar 2016 01:36:21
I still remember how he was badly missed during the title push past couple of seasons, and suddenly now he's the culprit for the club sitting 9th.

7.) 01 Mar 2016 02:16:16
exactly Haizan, Henderson has missed quite a few months with injury as well. could it not be part of the reason we're 9th is because he wasn't even playing!

8.) 01 Mar 2016 02:41:25
My thought is the balance in midfield is terrible. Hendo, can, allen, milner when he plays there all essentially off the same thing. My sense is if we had a midfielder that could anchor / pivot and another to link with the attacking trio then that would free up hendo/ can to play their natural box to box game. But having the 2 of em together is no good imo, they both run hard, but invariably are left chasing the opposition or running aimlessly upfield! I'm sure the nuances in their game will come! But feel the need to bring some different pieces is needed.

9.) 01 Mar 2016 03:58:22
that's probably why we tried to sign alex teixeira. we are certaintly lacking goals from midfield.

10.) 01 Mar 2016 04:17:52
Hendo not in the midfield? i think he just needs time and games to be where he was before injury. he could do with a bit of support really.

11.) 01 Mar 2016 05:41:30
"Impossible job" to follow Gerrard?
Many with a memory will remember Gerrard was "not captain material" when he took it off Sami and some still think he wasn't a great captain.
People need time to grow into the role, give him a break he's just come back from injury.

12.) 01 Mar 2016 08:04:12
Come off it Ron. You've got the short memory.
At 25 (hendersons age), Gerrard was on the brink of becoming the best midfielder in the World.
Henderson isn't even the best midfielder in the team. Totally clueless.

{Ed001's Note - he never mentioned ability as a player though did he? I think you need to back off and think about what you are typing.}

13.) 29 Feb 2016 23:55:54
Goalkeeper 1st . Lb 2nd . Then with the money of Benteke ( definitely no future after yesterday ) buy a proven goalscorer .

14.) 29 Feb 2016 23:56:15
So he does control games?
He does score goals?
He does pick the team and crowd up with his tackles?
He does inspire the team?
Would he get in Arsenal, Chelsea's, man city's, tottenhams first 11?
So why should he walk in to our and have the captaincy?

15.) 01 Mar 2016 10:19:26
Joe Allen is another I forgot to mention, he's available to go as well.

16.) 01 Mar 2016 10:26:08
When he was playing well red he would have had a great chance of getting into them teams. He's missed a lot of the season. I'm sure he will come good again.

17.) 01 Mar 2016 09:23:01
There are different type of captains you know. Would he need to do any of that if the strikers were performing to there level?

Gerrard only had to do that for so many years because of the underpar team mates nit doing it (I mean players like voronin) before I get critized.

And how has he walked in and took our captaincy? He's been here 5 years in June? Played through the hatred, been apart of a good team and had the likes of Gerrard just not fecking off.
Would there be any questions if Suarez was up top?

18.) 01 Mar 2016 10:37:43
Redsince85 - if fully fit i am quite certain he would get into both city's, chelsea's and spurs first eleven. Arsenal i am not sure about - but he would be close. Not that he isn't good anough, but Ramsey is a bit similar to him but with more goals. He is so much better than both Yaya 'walking around looking disinterested' Toure and Cesc 'leaving everything open' Fabregas. You really do have a short memory as you are judging him purely on his curent level and not his best level. I admire him for playing despite his injury - putting himself forward for critism despite not being able to play to his best. Concerning picking up the crowd - well i have to ask you, what effort are you putting in to pick up the crowd? Isn't that a shared responsibility? Doesn't it take as much effort from you as it does from Henderson? Or do you want it all on a plate? Being entertained without doing your bit? Then you truly are nothing more than a customer.

19.) 01 Mar 2016 12:46:25
Hendo would be next to Fernandinho in City's team and next to Matic in Chelsea's. He would pick his spot in United's. Spurs play very different but he would get in front of Mason, Benteleb etc and they get enough game time. The only one that he doesn't walk into when everyone is fit is Arsenal but let's be honest, how often does that happen?

The reason people don't like Hendo is that he gets his job done. When he's not able to do his job, he still shows up to do what job he can. No fuss, no bother and no drama. He's a leader, not an entertainer and people seem to stuggle constantly with the concept that a team together might want someonething else from a leader than the thousands looking from the sidelines.

20.) 01 Mar 2016 13:05:40
Impossible job to follow Gerrard?
So does that mean no-one can follow Gerrard.?
Might as well just give up on any Liverpool Captain from now on then eh?

Gerard's history. get over him!

21.) 01 Mar 2016 13:41:25
It Didn't matter that Gerrard wasn't ready as everybody knows carragher was the real leader.

22.) 01 Mar 2016 14:06:07
Those who never wanted Hendo to be captain are now coming out in force to vent their frustration and sticking the boot in at his most vulnerable moment at the club, all of which I find cowardly and disingenuous. He's not playing well as he's been injured and prolly not fully healed yet but his detractors are now out to pile on him and blame him for us losing a Cup final on PENALITIES. I dare ask his detractors, had he played well individually, would that have stopped Mingo from committing the howler that put us behind the eight ball? Would Studge have become less tired and leggy? Would Moreno have played better? I can keep going. Worst of all, comparing him to SG after six months on the job is just plain cruel and unfair. Grow up, people! You're making a fool of yourselves.

23.) 01 Mar 2016 16:24:45
Yaya even if strolls around the park is better midfielder than hendo
Ps I love hendo.

{Ed001's Note - seriously? Yaya has turned into a liability for City, a liability that even his team mates don't bother with. If they had Hendo there instead of Yaya the title would be their's already.}

24.) 01 Mar 2016 16:41:21
Another poor excuse of a post to slate Hendo by comparing him to a player who is running on fumes as a player and who won't be there when Pep arrives. City play a man down in midfield when he plays which is why Fernandinho often does his job for him. Yaya is finished and comparing him to Hendo, shows how much you know about both players.

25.) 01 Mar 2016 16:59:57
Yaya in his prime was great. He doesn't care anymore and nothing decent is happening from him - scores the occasional long ranged effort.

26.) 01 Mar 2016 16:59:57
Yaya in his prime was great. He doesn't care anymore and nothing decent is happening from him - scores the occasional long ranged effort.

27.) 01 Mar 2016 17:38:03
Haha I don't know why your all so upset lads.
You lot are getting your own way, Hendo is captain, you all Love these players and the way the season is panning out.
Redohio was always telling me how good this squad is.
I just hope your all making the most of it because this will all get dismantled in Summer when Klopp has had enough of mid table, and starts selling players to build something special.

28.) 01 Mar 2016 20:07:07
DBol, we'll all back the manager when summer comes, you have to. That doesn't change the fact that Hendo has been injured for most of this season and deserves a bit of support whilst he comes back.
Everyone has an opinion on the captaincy but Klopp has stuck by Hendo so he must see something in him.

At the end of the day, Hendo gives 100% every game, as far as I know he is a model professional unlike some ex-captains and has shown the fighting qualities to come through adversity that is admirable. He represents the club well on and off the field.
He's a totally different player to Gerrard and will probably never reach those highs, but it's unrealistic to expect him to IMO.

28 Feb 2016 20:06:32
Will get slated for this but would be happy to see Henderson leave in the summer. Don't see what he brings to the team on a consistent basis.

Redsince85

1.) 28 Feb 2016 21:30:31
Average at best.

2.) 28 Feb 2016 22:00:18
He's also been injured but never quits. He's not a top quality midfielder but he's by no means an issue -- and when healthy brings more.

Sitting 9th in the table there are places to point fingers, but this seems a reach.

3.) 28 Feb 2016 22:02:55
Couldn't agree more. He's had one consistent season.

4.) 28 Feb 2016 22:03:03
What a joke. Who do you support? He was absolute quality the passed two years, and has struggled with injury this year, and is out of form, so now we sell him? Any game you watch he pours his heart into it and does everything he can to keep the team pushing forward. Hendo and Lucas are the heart of this team with Gerrard gone. What does a player need to do in your eyes to deserve not to be sold?

5.) 28 Feb 2016 22:03:52
Struggling after coming back from injury. Give him time.

I think he showed the potential to step up and become a great player for us, like a young gerrard.

However this season has been blighted with injury and i'm not sure he really is captain material. Lucas, as he proved today, is. He needs to step up and stop missing sitters.

6.) 28 Feb 2016 22:06:12
Are you kidding me. He ran his heart out today and was top class breaking up play.

7.) 28 Feb 2016 22:34:06
Do any of our other players did anything positive consistently this season? Let's leave Lucas aside, although he had some poor games as well. But any of our other 11 has been consistently good? No one for me sorry. Not Milner, not Can, not Lallana, not Firmino, not Clyne or Moreno Sacko had some really poor games, Mings is Mings. Sturridge was poor the last two games, Origi had two good games. Even Couts had his ups and downs. Toure was maybe the only one who wasn;t really poor in any game. All the rest average. At hi sbest Henderson at least can give a good pass.

8.) 28 Feb 2016 22:47:51
If people don't see what the like of hendo and Milner and can do for the team I will tell u there all hard workers and do the dirty side of the game .

9.) 28 Feb 2016 23:38:27
I think more of the problem is that between hendo, can, allen, milner and milner when he plays there is that they are all too similar and by and large play similar roles when together on the pitch.

10.) 28 Feb 2016 23:52:32
I said before I think his future lies as more defensive Player.

11.) 29 Feb 2016 00:41:29
Some interesting points and the is no doubting Hendo's stamina etc. But. He does lack the creativity and goals needed for our key/ main man in the centre of the park.

12.) 29 Feb 2016 02:24:46
Are there manc or bitter blue trolls infesting these boards today, slating players like it was open season or do we truly have some of the most negative fans on the planet? So now it's Hendo's turn to get slated while knowing full well that he's either carrying an injury or is not fully fit but if ace his all for the team? So tell me, if Hendo had been a top player or had Studge been fit and sharp, would that have prevented Mingo from committing the howler that put us behind the eight ball? Would that have suddenly made our penalty takers score their penalties? Didn't think so. Keep slating your own players who are shattered mentally and physically from losing a game via the lottery and see if that helps them.
