Hi Ed's, hope you're well and your familiars safe during these times. I've heard that Liverpool have approached Kai Havertz agent for a second time and the only concern Havertz has is his role in the team as the front three are staying put this summer. Surely this can't be true as Liverpool don't have £100 million to spend right now. I know there's no chance of it happening but thought I would pass it on as this is a rumour site after all 👍🏻

Cheers

Red GT.

Not quite sure how I’ve been teased when I clearly didn’t fall for it but thank you all the same 👍🏻.

Hi Ed's, hope you're well during silly season. If Gini does end up at Barcelona how ever far fetched it may be would we get "coutinho tax" or was that a myth or of it has the timing run out.

Red8

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Hi Ed's, hope you're well,

Just wondering about the issue Liverpool had with Nat West over the last Coutinho money instalment, I saw that you mentioned it before but not in detail. Is there any chance you could fill us in on this please.

Many thanks.

{Ed002's Note - You have misunderstood something.}

Hi Ed's hope you're well. Just wondering if the the AFCON does get moved to 2022 and Mane and Salah don't go for you to 6 weeks mid season, will that effect Liverpool looking for a forward in the transfer market at all?

Red8

{Ed002's Note - No, it won’t make a difference.}

Hi Ed's, hope you're safe and well.
Just wondering what is the best position for Curtis Jones? Is he central midfield only or can he play as a false 9 and maybe provide cover for Firmino when he's ready? I have heard he's been playing in the front 3 for the U23s but as we all know that's a completely different level.

Many thanks.

Red8

{Ed001's Note - I don't think he has yet nailed a position down as his own. He has the potential to play any of the more forward roles in midfield and in the attack, it is just a case of finding where he fits best in the team.}

1.) 25 May 2020 02:05:06
He has a bit of gazza about him has young Curtis. I think he has CM written all over him.

{Ed001's Note - Gazza? I hope not, I want the lad to actually have brains.}

2.) 25 May 2020 04:56:19
Think that his best position would be as our most advanced midfielder in a midfield 3. Jones' problem however is that we already have Keita and Ox ahead of him for that role. Maybe one will have to leave to make way for more opportunities for Jones.

3.) 25 May 2020 10:50:46
I believe he will take Lallana's place/ role in the squad who had the ability to fill into the front 3 and the midfield 3. Similar to the Ox but with the Ox obviously playing more. Jones hasn't played much this season for the first team so filling in, in Lallana's role would be that next step up for him which is a decent amount of game time but not thrown straight into the deep end week in week out.

4.) 25 May 2020 16:48:41
I believe so as well, JK23.

5.) 25 May 2020 17:22:43
But Gascoigne was a great player ed01. Its curtis' quick thinking, the little flicks and the great shot, and the positions he can play. Reminds me of gazza.

{Ed001's Note - he was a massively skilled player but not a great for me. Great skill, yes, but he was poor in a two man midfield as he did not track back well and left the defence exposed. He was also reckless and had no intelligence to know how to use his skills to greatest effect. He never reached the level of greatness due to his own idiocy when he hurt himself trying to hurt someone else in the cup final. The fact that he was so self-centred as a player that he blew it when a booking meant he would miss the final if England got there says it all to me. When that happened with Ballack, who was a great player, he stepped up and drove his team to the final with an exceptional performance. Sorry but Gazza is possibly the most overrated player in history.}

6.) 25 May 2020 17:50:16
Overrated or not it was bizarre watching him play for Boston United.

7.) 25 May 2020 20:08:04
Ed01 as a Gazza fan growing up (brilliant in the Italia 90 WC and Euro '96, I am appalled at your assessment of him in terms of him not being a great player. I know he was a very skillful and girted player BUT after you comments and having a think about it, he did not make his team-mates better. Did he influence the games a bit? Probably BUT as you say, it looked like he was too busy trying to show his own ability rather than doing so in a way to help the team.

Also, I remember that FA Cup final at Wembley vs Forest where he literally tried to injure the same Forest player twice with two completely despicable, knee-high tackles that today would have gotten him sent off twice over as each tackle was a red card in-it of itself. I just believe now that Gazza was too full of himself to be a great player esp. since he loved the limelight and seemed to thrive on the excessive hype he was getting. Either way,

{Ed001's Note - was he brilliant in either tournament? I mean he had brilliant moments, but that was all and I thought that sums up his career. Flashes of brilliance punctuated by moments of madness.}

8.) 25 May 2020 20:47:20
Agree with ed001 proper moron who wasted his talent.

{Ed001's Note - not sure that is agreeing with me totally. That is a bit harsher than I would be!}

9.) 25 May 2020 23:17:52
I remember a trick he did back in Newcastle days and I've copied him and it always works. Bend down like you're going to pick the ball up then kick it at the last minute. Always works! (once a game)

It was a massive scoop for rangers. Its always been one of the weirdest transfers to my mind.

I remember gazza breaking his leg. Didn't Stuart pierce score a free kick in that final? Was it psycho that gazza broke his leg against?

It seems to me that Thiago is only possible if Gini doesn’t sign a new contract and leaves. I’ve heard that he is interested in going back to Holland but how much truth is in that rumour I don’t know.

sepp van de berg looks shaky to say the least, therefore I personally haven’t been impressed so far. Hoever to me looks like he could be class but maybe needs a bit more time or even a loan to help him kick on. I like the way he can play RB as well, he looks like he could be a real gem.

I can’t see Thiago signing unless Gini leaves. I’m certainly not wishing Gini does leave but he hasn’t signed a new contract which might be the reason they are looking to replace him. I think signing Thiago would take the sting out of Wijnaldum leaving.

I heard about this, apparently Liverpool have asked Sane to reject Bayern Munich and we will match his wages if he comes on a free next year. Would be brilliant if it happened but I really can’t see it myself.
