Heard a rumour that Bobby Duncan wants out as he sees his pathway to the first team blocked, I can't see it being true as he's had such a good season and with next season being so big in his development he wouldn't want another disruption, have you heard anything on this at all?

Red GT

1.) 18 May 2019 00:25:02
Send him up to Rangers for a season.

2.) 18 May 2019 10:41:57
Boss idea let's see how physically ready he is, curtis Jones could do with it as well.

3.) 18 May 2019 11:34:59
Geez he's just a kid. no idea if this is true but I'd hope he digs in and earns his stripes.

4.) 18 May 2019 11:58:35
Difficult time for him.
Would not blame him either way but I don’t disagree with his reasoning.

5.) 18 May 2019 12:16:40
He wrote off a year of football and took a pay cut to join Liverpool, he's going nowhere.

Hi Ed's, hope you're well, All these De Ligt rumours going around along with everyone saying how awesome he is (which is debatable) how do you rate Dayot Upamecano? and do you think Klopp would ever take a look at him considering he's playing in Germany and how much cheaper he would be as he's going for 30 million instead of 50 from what I've read, I've heard we have been linked with him in the past which I know doesn't mean a lot but was just wondering what you thought on his ability and if there was a chance we would look at him.

Cheers 👍🏻.

Red GT

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any de Ligt rumours involving Liverpool and they have certainly not expressed any interest. Dayot Upamecano is similar in that Liverpool has shown no interest. Mr Mourinho has been a long term fan and he wanted the club to move for him, but the asking price of €100M for a player who, I think, has not played for his country is far beyond what most clubs would consider. Barcelona backed away last summer for the same reason. Prior interest of Arsenal and Milan went because of the asking price.}

1.) 16 Feb 2019 19:53:12
Could definitely build a team around him.

2.) 16 Feb 2019 20:46:44
Never seen him play to be honest but I do reckon Gomez is pretty awesome. Would hate to see us sign anyone that would impact on his game time. That guy is the future.

3.) 16 Feb 2019 21:31:15
Eder militao would be my choice, already capped by brazil and can play cb as well as rb.

4.) 16 Feb 2019 20:39:36
Eds1 I know you don’t rate De Ligt but seriously he is better than vid imho. You are normally spot on with your assessment of players but I think you have this one wrong. Not trying to be offensive.

{Ed001's Note - ok mate. Every time I see him play he is just another overhyped youngster with no positional sense and just another who can stroke the ball around under no pressure. All the ones raving about him have watched him at half pace in strolls around international football. It is not the same game as the Premier League.}

5.) 17 Feb 2019 07:55:59
So then Ed001 who in your honest opinion is the best CB in his age category at the moment in time? I know players develop at different rates. And who would you like to see Liverpool sign to cover the CB position. Would you replace Gomez or rotate him with someone else?

{Ed001's Note - why would I replace Gomez? When fit he was exceptional alongside VVD and they were the best defensive pairing in Europe. I don't want to rotate him, I just want to keep him fit and have cover for when he is not.}

6.) 17 Feb 2019 09:25:17
Gomez is the best centre back in his age category.

75 million for another centre back who ain't as good as gomez would be madness.

If indeed 75 million is what it would take.

Declan rice would be a better buy in my opinion. Bit like fabinho in that he could play midfield and cover centre back if needed.

Gomez needs to stop being played at right back. That where he gets all his injuries.

Id rarther see fabinho being played there if needed in the future and keep gomez at cb where with vvd he is part of the best pairing in europe.

7.) 17 Feb 2019 09:38:50
I don’t rate de Ligt or Upamecano - they both have massive weaknesses in their game which would be ruthlessly exposed in the Premier league.

{Ed001's Note - glad someone else sees it!}

8.) 17 Feb 2019 09:49:32
That wasn't what I was trying to get out of you ed001. I rate Gomez as high as anyone else. My question was who is the best CB in there age category. And who would you like Liverpool to sign and for what position in the squad (a starter to cover or to rotate)

{Ed001's Note - I don't see a better young defender than Gomez around.}

9.) 17 Feb 2019 09:57:53
It’s veru hard to buy a cb that is adequate cover, knowing full well they’ll be third choice at best. But we do look much less secure when it’s not Gomez and vvd, so we do need someone imo.

10.) 17 Feb 2019 11:32:16
I think De Ligt lacks real pace and as Liverpool play a high backline that is essential.

11.) 17 Feb 2019 14:17:28
This is not FIFA manager mode or Football Manager, players want their careers to advance. Not sure if you all remember a few years ago Gomez nearly wanted out, but Klopp promised him that he would be one of his four CB. Gomez has his injury problems, but his season was going good until he hit that board, something out of his control. It ain't like he is Studge who God knows what is injured always.

As a lifetime Liverpool fan it is frustrating to see supporters wanting to always replace our players with someone better, but we are offended when they leave for another team. If we have no loyalty to them then they should have none towards us. The squad is finally a strongest starting 11 since Rafa's day even stronger I think. Someone better not say Suarez and Sturridge the defense was shambolic then still. We just need quality depth at defense and players who understand that and won't ruin the atmosphere. City have spent over 200m+ on a back four and still have not got it sorted, so let's not be greedy about wanted better CB.

12.) 17 Feb 2019 15:08:21
Given the quality of VVD and GOMES I think it would be very difficult to get the quality we would require because they would not sign to “ sit on the bench”. I am not totally impressed with either Matip or Lovren and if there is not enough confidence in our academy prospects at this time then I think we need to be looking at players who are experienced and although past there best, they are reliable. I will leave that category to the Edds.

13.) 17 Feb 2019 15:53:11
I think with De ligt any club who would spend huge money would be taking a massive gamble, at that age it's easy for people to get carried away with his possible potential but he's playing in a far inferior league without facing world class attackers weekly. His price tag and his big reputation can't be justified until he proves it at a higher level. He's still only a teenager, at his age you see a lot of careers going different paths! Huge risk if anyone were to pay the big bucks.

14.) 17 Feb 2019 16:22:34
Can we all just take a moment to enjoy this from Ed;

'When fit he was exceptional alongside VVD and they were the best defensive pairing in Europe. '

2/ 3 seasons ago, our defence was so leaky that it would give a siv a run for its money. Did we ever in our wildest of dreams imagine that our beloved Liverpool would have THE best pairing in EUROPE?!? It is staggering just how impressive VVD has been and we must pinch ourselves at the fact a young kid sits alongside him and is just as marvellous to watch.

No matter how the season ends this year, we must appreciate what we do have. After-all, at least we're not everton fans amirite?

Keep up the good work eds! apologies for the sidetrack.

{Ed001's Note - good point mate.}

15.) 17 Feb 2019 16:38:01
Gomez is awesome there’s no doubt about it and I would select him over Lovren every day of the week but I fear with his short history (due to his age) that he might be injury prone. I’m not saying this is definite but I am saying it’s possible to see a pattern forming where he starts off well in a season and then gets a bad injury, I hope it’s just bad luck because he looks fantastic next to VVD as a partnership. I think I speak for us all when I wish him a speedy recovery 👍🏻👍🏻.

16.) 17 Feb 2019 18:29:25
We should be a little more grateful for what we have. A sub 20 first team CB playing at arguably the highest level in Europe, top of the league.

Too many supporters only get excited about new signings for the sake of it. De Ligt is unproven. Gomez is already ours. VVD and Gomez are our CB pairing for the next 5/ 6 years. Let’s get some better quality backups with positional flexibility in the FB positions.

17.) 17 Feb 2019 19:18:15
I agree. VVD and Gomez can build a cb partnership lasting 5 or 6 years possibly. I think if we were to go down the road of replacing lovren or matip the best choice would be to buy perhaps an older experienced cb, someone possibly who's used to winning titles, on a shorter contract and much cheaper transfer fee.

That kind of player can be invaluable around the squad as we've seen many examples in the past. Our first choice back 5 is very young which is great but I don't think constantly filling up the squad with "potential" is ideal. Quality experienced back up could be very shrewd if done right in my opinion.

18.) 21 Feb 2019 10:32:39
I agree Gomez is boss and the perfect first-choice partner for Virgil. No need to spend massive money on a new CB. Despite being so young (especially for a CB) and having such horrible luck with injuries (cruciate, achilles, and ankle surgery twice) he still inspires confidence. I really just hope we can start getting full seasons out of him. Hopefully with the latest injury being a fracture and not a ligament or tendon he can hit the ground running for the last 6 league games and later CL rounds. Along with Ox that could be just the tonic the team needs for that final heave over the line.

26 Dec 2018 21:55:32
Hi Ed's hope you've had a great Xmas, I've read online (not twitter) that Dayot Upamecano is available for 30 million, this is very cheap for a player of his age and quality so I'm not sure how true it is but if so would you see Klopp taking an interest in signing him? Hope you have a great new year everyone 👍🏻

Many thanks

Red GT.

Red GT

{Ed001's Note - I very much doubt that there will be any movement on central defence when both fullback positions have so little cover and the midfield might lose a couple of players in the summer...}

1.) 27 Dec 2018 05:32:39
Yeah Ed001. With Clyne, Moreno, Lallana and Milner (hope not) adding to it Origi and sturridge, we can expect a 3-4 signings and also back up keeper when Mignolet departs.

2.) 27 Dec 2018 06:20:10
We have 4 senior CBs in the squad. The fact that 2 of them suffered injuries at the same time is simply unfortunate, not a reason to sign a 5th CB. Like Ed001 said, the cover for Robbo and TAA is bang average and needs upgrading the coming summer and we could do with another forward to compete with our front 3 while Shaqiri drops down into midfield. OX also back next season so i think that the MIlner and Lallana departures will be covered by these 2.

3.) 27 Dec 2018 08:47:19
I would keep origi specifically for derby day!

4.) 27 Dec 2018 09:53:26
Is there a good chance that Milner will go in the summer Ed001? I'd let Winjnaldum go before Milner tbh.

{Ed001's Note - depends on him.}

5.) 27 Dec 2018 10:27:22
Every time i read Coutinho hard time in Barcelona makes me wonder if there is a little chance of him returning here he could replace Lallana but i know it won't happen just a dream. 😩😩😩.

6.) 27 Dec 2018 11:53:25
I like the idea of Couts coming back as our Lallana replacement, ie. squad player we rarely use other than to rest others for the last 20 minutes of the odd game.

It would be funny to see Couts fulfill that role after the way he forced his way out.

In practical terms it can’t happen, his attitude would be cancerous to our squads current dynamic, but it would be funny him warming our bench week after week.

I’m not bitter about how he left, honest.

{Ed002's Note - Coutinho will not be returning to Liverpool.}

7.) 27 Dec 2018 11:57:56
I don’t think our full back cover is too bad atm, Milners versatility really helps this but if he left it would leave us thin on the ground.

{Ed002's Note - Fabinho is a more than capable RB.}

8.) 27 Dec 2018 13:28:00
If Adam Lewis steps up, I think LB back up position is covered.
If we really look TAA future is in Middle then we have to buy a first team RB
When Lallana and Milner (hopefully not) departs, we have Ox to cover. Maybe anyone from Academy (I don't know)
I think we need a quality forward who can rotate with our front 3. Wilson needs another loan to Prem team IMO
And then a back up GK as Migs will leave
If Matip also looks to leave we have Nat. If Klopp deems he isn't good enough now then another 4th choice CB
I think this will be our summer transfers. Rest depends on the outgoing.

9.) 27 Dec 2018 15:06:33
LB cover/ competition should be a priority, especially with Moreno complaining about Klopp's man-management and not playing as well as his expiring contract. Someone who can also double as a RB as well would be perfect.

10.) 27 Dec 2018 18:23:24
I'd like to see Camacho given Clynes role next season. Gomez and Fabinho both more than capable RB plus Milner. Maybe invest in a left back who can play LW? I hear Gareth Bale is available (kidding)

02 Feb 2018 18:23:52
Hi Ed's, I take it the James Rodríguez rumours are a load of crap as I can't see any reason why Bayern would cut their agreement short amongst other things?

Red GT

{Ed001's Note - what rumours?}

1.) 02 Feb 2018 20:21:51
It’s said he wants to join Liverpool to replace Coutinho, I can’t see it happening myself but I just thought I’d check.

2.) 02 Feb 2018 20:41:23
Said by who?
Is that just desperation for a "big nsme" signing?
I doubt Klopp would take Rodriguez anyway.

3.) 03 Feb 2018 00:58:42
Click bait.

4.) 03 Feb 2018 11:30:18
Rumours that he’s good enough to replace Coutinho?

Yes, those rumours are a load of crap 😉.

5.) 03 Feb 2018 11:30:52
Liverpoo Echo. #boring.

6.) 03 Feb 2018 13:31:09
I didn't expect us to do too much this January. Vvd was brilliant and pc was gutting. We need someone who can unlock a stubborn defence like pc could but will we do that today? Doubt it. Lemar is the one I wanted.

07 Jan 2018 18:14:07
Hi Ed's, Thanks for all the hard work this time of year, I see the Draxler rumours haven't gathered pace since Coutinhos departure does that mean Klopp doesn't see him as an option or shouldn't we look too far into it? Also has anything changed on the Goretzka front as I've not heard too much recently on him either even after using the search engine.

Cheers

Red GT.

Red GT

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing new really with Draxler. He is available and Arsenal do maintain an interest. His agent has approached a couple of German sides as well. Goretzka seems to have his heart set on a move to Munich in the summer although Schalke are still trying to come up with a contract he will sign - but I very much doubt that will be possible.}

1.) 07 Jan 2018 21:49:32
Maybe a loan would be a good option for Draxler and Liverpool.

{Ed002's Note - He would only be available on a loan to buy (not a loan with an option to buy).}

2.) 07 Jan 2018 22:18:58
Ok thanks ed2.

3.) 08 Jan 2018 15:30:52
Are the loan to by deals mainly done to help the buying club in regards to FFP? Just trying to understand the reason for a loan to buy instead of getting the deal done straight away. Thanks.

Hi Ed's, I'm hearing that Bobby Duncan is all but gone, seems a shame all this garbage that surrounds him at the the min has come out in public with his agent acting the fool. I admire the lad wanting to be a first team player but he's only just turned 18 he should be working hard on the U23s and seeing if he can kick on from there for me. His agent seems to be screwing his career up before it's even started.

Red GT

1.) 28 Aug 2019 20:42:12
Mental health is very serious and I hope the lad's alright. Clearly though this agent is a problem. Based on his tweets he barely knows how to do his job (He quite literally didn't know how a 'loan with an obligation to buy' worked), and is clearly influencing Duncan on some level so he can get a better payday. There needs to be much more protection for youth players from these leeches masquerading as agents.

Though let's be clear that refusing to sell a player while under contract, is not "bullying". That isn't to say the player can't be annoyed or upset by it, but working with the club to find a solution or playing out your contract is typically the best way forward. His agent has helped no one with his comments.

2.) 28 Aug 2019 21:03:12
If mental health is really his issue then I hope gets all the help he needs. That said, I think it is a really low blow by his agent using Duncan's issues as some sort of leverage. The agent is at the bottom of the barrell.

3.) 28 Aug 2019 22:22:57
Some of the sexist and bigoted tweets coming to light from his agent shows what kind of person he is, an absolute low life. That said I hope Bobby Duncan does well where ever he goes and he finds some better advice shortly.

4.) 28 Aug 2019 23:06:29
My favourite unearthed old Saif Rubie tweet:

"People wonder why english players don't develop when liverpool spend a fortune on the useless henderson instead of pushing Shelvey upwards"

Yeah. This guy knows his stuff, clearly.

5.) 29 Aug 2019 08:42:14
Does he think the north east is a foreign country?

10 Jul 2019 11:34:49
Hi Ed's, I have been seeing a lot of Asensio rumours in recent days but not ones involving Mane, people are now reporting that Klopp wants him without Sadio going the other way. Personally I think he would do well under Klopp and would be great cover for Salah and Mane as well as playing attacking midfield but I also see no chance of these rumours being true, have you heard anything in regards to Liverpool buying Asensio?

Many thanks

Red GT.

Red GT

{Ed002's Note - There has been no approach from Liverpool. Against the wishes of the coach the club has said they may be open to using him in part exchange and have said if any interest club off to meet his Termination Clause then they will ask the player if he is interested.}

1.) 10 Jul 2019 18:13:19
Why buy Asensio when we can promote Wilson? These young players just need a chance like TAA got his, look at how well he did at Derby.

2.) 10 Jul 2019 20:16:02
If there is such a proposal from Real, Asenjo for Mané+cash it is a polite way to tell LFC to back off. IMHO of course.

3.) 11 Jul 2019 09:49:40
This was the dumbest rumour of the week.

y2k3 I will just repeat what the Eds have said 11 times or more now. Wilson is not considered good enough for the first team and doesn't work hard enough off the ball.

28 Jun 2019 10:13:43
Hi Ed's, hope you're well, just wondering about the full back situation, I know we are looking for a back up LB but is Hoever seen as a potential back up RB or is he still too young being a school boy and all? Also with the new lad Sepp van den Berg signing would this mean Lovren is free to go to Milan as rumoured or is it unrelated?

Many thanks

Red GT.

Red GT

{Ed002's Note - No, the club want someone with experience to fill that role. These are children you are talking about - not first team players. At best they will perhaps get a run out in an occasional league cup or FA cup game if Liverpool can struggle past the early rounds.}

1.) 28 Jun 2019 12:04:37
Is sepp left footed?

{Ed002's Note - He is a child, his feet are soft and pliable and haven't matured yet.}

2.) 28 Jun 2019 12:21:56
Oscar De Marcos would fit the bill.

3.) 28 Jun 2019 12:42:00
Lol ed02, i get it, he's a youth signing. But we have to get excited by something in silly season! Ill google what foot he favours.

I think we lack a lcb. Obviously whoever came in wouldn't be starting many games but there are always injuries. So a talented youngster with first team experience seems a good shout. Pace is pretty important for our cbs so an ageing player seems less likely.

4.) 28 Jun 2019 15:30:40
Robbiesline, although Lovren has mostly played on the right hand side of defence recently, that is just to play VVD on the left where he prefers. Lovren's preference is on the left and played at lcb for Southampton.

5.) 28 Jun 2019 16:03:01
Hopefully Ed Klopp will take the domestic cups more seriously this year mate.

6.) 29 Jun 2019 02:18:00
Football ages always make me laugh.
A 17 year old is considered a child whilst in the real world most of us over a certain age today (who left before they raised education leaving age), probably already worked a year+ in a full time job as an adult.
And when footballers turn 30 they are past their prime, getting on a bit and close to retirement. But again in the real world that won’t start happening till we are over 60 xD.

7.) 29 Jun 2019 12:31:02
Thanks epic p, yeah i remember him on the left a lot. I prefer him on the right though. I thought klavan had come good by the time we sold him. Understandable that he wanted to leave but would've made me, as a fan, feel more comfortable.

Our defence was poor since we sold Agger. Well, not brilliant. Its so much less stressfull watching the boys with such a solid back 5 again.

8.) 29 Jun 2019 12:50:01
OGRed_Phil, a 17 yr old by any other name is STILL a 17 year old hence, is still a child. It's that simple.

9.) 29 Jun 2019 22:29:22
RedWolf child support and child benefits stop at 16 unless the child stays in education studying a-levels or equivalent though ;) unless it’s all changed now, no idea xD.

10.) 30 Jun 2019 19:10:48
ORG in the States, child support ends at 18.

27 May 2019 23:06:01
Hi Ed's, hope you're well, was wondering if One of our CBs were to leave would we go out looking to sign a replacement or is the young lad Hoever ready to be 4th choice next season. Also is there any truth in the João Pedro rumours?

Many thanks

Red GT.

Red GT

{Ed002's Note - Hoever is a child and still at school. Joao Pedro has agreed to join Watford and is again a child. If Liverpool has made an approach to the player it would be illegal. If they wish to negotiate with his club and pay off Watford that would be acceptable. Right now there has not been an approach to his club.}

19 May 2019 20:20:56
Hi Ed's, hope all is well, been reading about Guillem Balague claiming that we are in talks with De Ligt, I can't see this being true as he's normally full of garbage anyway let alone the fact that I don't think we could afford him. Do you know if Klopp has a certain amount to spend this summer or not, or does it depend on the sale of players leaving the club?

Many thanks

Red GT.

Red GT

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any illegal approach from Liverpool for De Ligt. The club will support Klopp and the scouting staff in order to try and buy success but I expect changes to be limited to that explained already unless their are unexpected departures.}

1.) 19 May 2019 20:49:40
Ed002 can I ask if there is something liverpool are doing seriously wrong to your knowledge.

I only ask because you was critical of liverpool low balling offers in the past and trying to reduce prices for players they wanted to buy. And recently you have been critical of liverpool now over paying for players and agents. Not meaning to be rude in any way. It does seem that either you have a real dislike for the club and that's understandable with the trolls you get on here or you know something we don't that perhaps is not a good look for us.

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Obviously Liverpool have tapped up players which is illegal - it has cost them very dear. They paid £45M in agent fees - nearly double the next highest in the Premier League. They had to make unexpected payments to two Premier League clubs in the past year and had to make a substantial payment to a third party. None of this stuff is good. This is simply how it is, but I have no dislike for the club at all.}

2.) 19 May 2019 21:12:09
..............

{Ed002's Note - Immediately there is grief from some brain dead cretin unable to read the question. I am sure yours will not be the last account removed tonight.}

3.) 19 May 2019 21:18:23
Dont care about all that stuff, i love this buying success lark tho! Welcome home ol Big Ears😁.

4.) 19 May 2019 21:43:53
Apologies ed I hope it wasn't my question that gave the troll some Dutch courage.

{Ed002's Note - It was.}

5.) 19 May 2019 21:58:57
Ed002's dislike for Liverpool is only down to the fact they don't quite toast his crumpets to his liking and they don't use lurpak butter all at the clup cafe but anything else is just paranoia.

6.) 20 May 2019 12:22:34
I thought it was because they put to much butter on his toast and his sausage fell off.

7.) 20 May 2019 14:05:57
I don't think the buttering of toast is enough to make Ed002's sausage fall off. he'd be leaving a lot of wives very disappointed.

8.) 21 May 2019 13:44:32
Hmmmm, well its nothing to do with the fact your a Chelsea fan? Seems rich considering that Chelsea have got a transfer ban. You constantly say ''buy the league'' when teams like city united chelsea have done the same thing, but we are singled out for it.
And regarding tapping up and agents fees, yes we are guilty of it, but you make out as if we are the only club that do it.
I appreciate that you receive abuse from people on here, but every single post I see has some undertone about how bad we are as a club.

We already have a young player that covers RB and CB in Hoever. I thought he did well personally when he came on against Wolves in the cup. Gomez isn’t exactly a veteran himself and he also covers RB and CB.

This lad looks the real deal so far from what I’ve seen, could be a very good signing if his progress continues.
