Eds seen some rumours of mignolet to napoli? Reina moving on? Would be grear if we could get a new kerper in quickly although appreciate you've said summer is more likely.

That does make sense Ed. He is vastly experienced and if needed in an emergency he is very competent, I know that there is a little bit of previous bad history because of how he wanted to engineer a move to Barcelona, but that is water under the bridge now.

Its not a case of what is easiest. It’s a case of what’s best. If the right players aren’t available now, we should wait until the summer. I haven’t looked at the difference in our record of matches with and without coutinho but I think it’s good if not maybe better without him. Also think Woodburn could do a job in similar role until end of the season.
{Ed025's Note - yeah woodburn is very similar to pipco, i bet barca are kicking themselves they could have saved themselves a lot of money if they had gone for the cheaper option..

Seriously though, I agree with Decimus, Lallana has just come back from injury and Ox can play midfield too, Woodburn would only need to be used from sub bench or occassional cameo to rest the first team, he’s good enough for that.
If we can’t replace Coutinhos quality in this window with someone that is a good long term solution and gives us his X factor (hard to do) then why spend on someone that’s worse than Lallana or Ox?
Another alternative is to go for something completely different like a GK. I think the squad is getting to the point we can now be patient until the only very best players are available that can categorically strengthen the side.

I do agree, we've strengthened our weakest area and I was impressed big Virgil in his debut! I just feel that the whole Couts thing was sorted in the summer and respect the dude for still getting his head down and playing for us until the end. With that being said surely we were looking / enquiring/ sorting a replacement out back then.

Ed01/ 02 I seem to remember that we had a strong interest in jorginho before he went to napoli? Would love to see him here now. Not saying he's coming. he would give us that base abd passing ability that's sorely lacking.

My last post was a reply too (Europe is yellow) few posts up (Salah) (Noski) am referring too my friend he was the original poster of the kun Aguero shout under his name Barryproudfoot even though most here thought it was funny at the time he was in a lonely place and come on here for his love of the site and unfortunately couldn’t take it any longer. In his note he left it was clear he just felt lonely and couldn’t take people taking the p*ss out off him with the post that’s why everytime i see the reference to it (kun) it upsets me anyway he was a lovely lad am sure his head wasn’t in the right place and it just tipped him over the edge R. I. P Barryproudfoot I know he’s probably still reading this site from above just wish things were different anyway happy new year too you all hope 2018 was a good one xx.

Salah was signed and then the ox. Both play in similar position couts did. With kieta coming too I think its already covered. Id be concentrating on a deeper position likw a alonso type of player. Hard ti find but eved hopeful.
