Hi Fellow Reds, I've been following this site for years and now I finally got the finger out and registered an account so be gentle! I'm bringing my 8 year old son over to Liverpool tomorrow for the trophy parade. It's a flying visit. Getting train into Lime Street at 15.30 and train back to Manchester airport at 18.30. Can anyone give me advice about a good location near the train station where we should get a decent view but not get caught up in a stampede?! Any advice greatly appreciated. Big shout out to Ed001 and Ed025 for the great work you do and of course the great Ed002 who is sadly missed.

Welcome mate!

Paddy I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but the streets will be rammed by then mate. Logistically speaking you’ve got to be there super early and that’s just to even stand a chance of getting a half decent spot.

{Ed025's Note - you are spot on JK..

You should be fine, some good people in general and solid content. Welcome.

Hi paddy welcome, being very serious if that’s your window of opportunity then you need to take a cab out of town and join somewhere closer to the start of the parade.

I would head for queens drive somewhere between old swan and the jolly miller pub. This should give you the best opportunity to see the parade then get back to the train via a quieter route back to town.

See if the train stops at south parkway then you could head there as that avoids going back into town and picking the train up in the south end which should have got quieter by then.

Hope this helps.

Hi again paddy alternative option head to Leeds street that should give you a good view and ability to walk back to lime street station in time.

Thanks for the kind welcome guys and for the tips about tomorrow. It sounds like I’m screwed no matter what I do so I’ll just have to try to manage the little lad’s expectations! Might give Leeds St a go and hope for the best. Enjoy the game today lads, at least we get to enjoy it properly this time. Go on the redmen ?.

There is a patch of grass by Islington. the parade goes past it quite close . not too busy there but busy enough. otherwise most places will be chockablock.

So sad to hear the news about Diogo and his brother Andre. Away on holiday with the 3 kids and we all shed a little tear when I told them. He seemed like a really good guy both on and off the pitch.

Devastated for his wife Rute and his 3 gorgeous kids. Hard to believe they only got married 11 days ago. It’s a no brainer for me to retire the number 20 jersey and I’m sure the club will do the classy thing as usual.

Rest easy Diogo and Andre or as we’d say in Ireland ‘At dheis De go raibh a an am dilis’ YNWA ❤️.

Thanks Skeletor, some relief getting home alright. The news from the hospitals seems pretty positive so that’s great to hear. Take care.

Was there today on Leeds St (thanks for the tip Avitohyes, it was a perfect spot mate) . They weren’t letting anyone into Lime St station for an hour before giving up and getting a taxi to Manchester Airport. Only found out the news in the taxi. It could’ve been any of us caught up in that. Had the little lad with me and couldn’t stop thinking it could’ve been him when I heard there were kids involved so hugged that little bit tighter putting him to bed just now. Landed in Dublin airport and a reporter shoved a camera and microphone in my face looking for comment. Absolutely surreal. Thoughts and prayers with all the families impacted tonight. YNWA. What an awful and tragic end to what had been an amazing day up to that.
