Evening Eds

What's your honest opinion on West Broms Pereira, it looks like they are going down do you rate him at all or do you think he's just nor good enough for Liverpool or a top 6 team.

Cheers

Notsozippy.

1.) 04 May 2021 04:36:08
Decent player, but I don't see him pushing any of the front 4. And with us seriously having to think about replace maybe one of them this summer, maybe not what I'd go for IMO.

Afternoon Eds
Can u explain to me how the seeding is carried out for the champions league groups is it based on a clubs participating in it over the last 5 seasons or something to that effect and that's why Liverpool could effectively be in pot 3 for the draw pending what happens to Benfica in the next qualifying round
Cheers Mate.

1.) 03 Aug 2018 15:20:28
European rankings I believe, we were almost dead certs for pot 3 but now Basel are out if fenerbache can beat benfica we will go into pot 2.

2.) 03 Aug 2018 15:43:55
If we go into pot 3 it just makes it more tricky for those in pots 1 and 2.

Not many will be happy to have us joining them in their group as they know they will be in for a tough time.

3.) 03 Aug 2018 19:05:36
Pot 2 would be a good help but we were in pot 3 last season and got a favourable draw.

4.) 03 Aug 2018 22:27:32
We are awesome who cares what pot we are in.

5.) 04 Aug 2018 14:17:53
It doesn’t matter which pot we’re in
It’s our opponents who will be rubbish worried.

6.) 06 Aug 2018 08:56:45
Interestingly this year, pots 2-4 are actually fairly flat in quality making it very little difference what group we end up in - especially when you get some protection from not being drawn with teams from the same country - so if you get Real, Barcelona or Athletico in pot 1 you won't get Valencia in pot 4, and if you get Juventus in pot 1 you won't get Inter Milan in 4. Honestly, there is only really one team in pot 2 I'd rather avoid (Dortmund) and at least two in pot 3 (Roma and Monaco) so I'm very relaxed about where we get put.

Morning all

Surly these Jack Grealish rumours are tripe no doubting the kid has talent but he has a stinking attitude and a very short fuse to go with it, wouldn't want him anywhere near our club just a disruptive wanna be.

{Ed025's Note - im with you mate..

1.) 08 Jul 2018 09:34:57
Cheers ed25
I know this is the Liverpool site but how do you see the coming season developing for all you blue noses. What's your take on your new manager and potential ins and outs.

{Ed025's Note - im happy with silva and brands at the helm zippy, it will take time but i think we may be on the right track now and i dont expect there there will be many players coming in mate..

2.) 08 Jul 2018 12:06:20
Cheers mate looking forward to a few good auld derby battles this season best of luck to u and all the blue noses enjoy what's left of the weekend bud 😁.

3.) 08 Jul 2018 10:00:13
At least you got shot of Fat Scam Ed.

{Ed025's Note - yeah mate that was a good decision..

4.) 08 Jul 2018 10:03:41
Ed25 didn't you all say that last season? And the season before. and the one before. Only playin mate😁.

{Ed025's Note - i have to ben, if you dont have hope mate you have nothing, then again mostly its been nothing..

5.) 08 Jul 2018 21:39:10
Imagine if fat Sam was still the England manager. God we all dodged a bullet there.

6.) 09 Jul 2018 07:18:08
Sorry for the late reply Kloppboss. The study was of top athletes in football, rugby and aussie rules rugby, so no golfers Involved. Ox reruptured his ligament in one of three classical situation where he tried to regain possesion of the ball, the other two are after heading (the landing situation), and the last one is cut and turn moves. Those three situations are almost the only situations where fotballens at a top level gets an ACL injury. The risk of rerupture is significantly higher the first match after the first injury, there is also a higher risk of reinjury if you come back to playing matches before 9 months after the first injury, and the risk gets less and less until 12 months after the first injury, after that there is now significant difference if you wait even longer.
If you look at all athletes in all levels of sport the return to sport at the same level they were before the injury, the number is s low as 54 % (recent review from Clare Ardern and her study Group) .

Redallover: the study you are referring to is from Jan Ekstrands group (he runs the UEFA medical study group where all the participant club in Champions league are invited to join, a study that are ongoing and has been so for the last 16 years), and much has happened since 2001. There were a lot higher reinjury rate at that time, and most injuries has a lot lower injury rate. There are still high Numbers of injury rate when it comes to muscle injuries, especially hamstring injuries, but the last data seems to finally to show improvement there as well (not published yet, but presented at the isokinetic medical conference at camp nou, juni 2.-4, 2018).

Make no mistake, an ACL injury is a serious injury, and will probably lead to early OA (oestoarthritis) in early are, and many that are not at a top level will never come back to sports. But there have been major advances in preventing, and handling ACL injuries at all levels. The 11+ programme has shows to be preventing at youth level and lower levels, at high levels it is a little bit more advanced. And as said earlier on ACL injuries usually comes with various secondary injuries that could cause some problems.

The biggest risk of any injury is previous injuries (so a player that has been injured, has a greater risk of a new injury of any sort), and exposure (time spent in training and match, where playing a match is more than double risk than training in acute injuries and muscle inuries that are more of an overloadinjury, other overloadinjuries seems to occur more in training) .

Evening Eds
I've listened to skarkpod#12 and even though our 1st choice for the full back position could be sessengong (excuse the spelling ) could you see us rekindling our interest in chilwell looked great and accomplished when he came on the other night .
Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Maybe - and he would be a good option but perhaps a risk as first pick?}

1.) 20 Apr 2017 16:16:23
Cheers Ed much appreciated.

05 Jul 2016 12:02:46
Hi Eds
Rumour has it that Alex Teixeira is unsettled in China and is looking for a move back to Europe . Do you think we could rekindle our previous interest in him it seems that Klopp had a good look at him before his move to China and obviously rates him highly or has that bird flown the nest .
Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Nothing to do with Liverpool at this time.}

1.) 05 Jul 2016 15:15:52
If this was the case then maybe we would've looked at him, until we bought Mané. Now we have Mané we have moved on.

2.) 05 Jul 2016 15:50:37
He's struggled in a weak Chinese league, what would be the point of signing someone who failed in a league weaker than the SPL?!

3.) 05 Jul 2016 16:38:47
Because he did really well in a league much stronger than the Chinese league, and also the Champions League.

4.) 05 Jul 2016 16:41:37
I should add though, I don't want us to sign him, just the Chinese league point with all the other factors involved, including his difficulty settling, is a ridiculous one.

5.) 05 Jul 2016 18:06:17
I don't think he has played in a strong league.

Who thinks we should buy Kelvin Philips now all the talk earlier last week about we should be looking at him for midfield 🤔 well he a long with rice were absolute pants in the centre of the park tonight terrible display all round I'd give Harry Kane a 3 out of 10 at best fair play to Scotland not the greatest of players but they wore their hearts on their sleeves and put their heads and bodies on the line time and time again. England might well top the group but will be lucky to get to the 1/ 4 finals at best imo.

1.) 18 Jun 2021 22:28:28
Honourable mention to Sterling who was also complete and utter toilet.

{Ed014's Note - Sterling has been shite for months!

2.) 18 Jun 2021 22:30:06
Scotland dominated tonight, should of won by more than one goal.

3.) 19 Jun 2021 01:23:29
Phillips a good player but as always with England. hyperbole! He was being called the"yorkshire Pirlo"the other day which is laughable. But this isn't his fault, we over here in Ireland luv buzzing off the English pundits at these tournaments. Ferdinand fella. comedy Gold.

{Ed0666's Note - just don’t understand how and why Ferdinand gets money to be a pundit?

4.) 19 Jun 2021 04:33:00
Can’t wait to hear Kane’s French when he leaves for PSG. He can hardly string three sensible words together in English!

5.) 19 Jun 2021 08:20:09
Ed0666, if I didn’t support India in the cricket my family would have disowned me, the same is now true for my two boys! On England, a few of my buddies and I used to follow the team everywhere enthusiastically with some sort false sense of patriotism - France 98, Portugal 04, Germany 06 etc - there were some great moments but other things would leave us feeling more and more dispirited, we realised we were never really wanted or welcome following the national team. Now in my early 40s I find myself rooting for the ‘other’ team every time, was genuinely gutted yesterday the Scots didn’t manage to find a goal!

Glad to say I’ve never felt that following The Reds, my banner would be - Woolback Indian Scouse - Not English!

{Ed0666's Note - crazy ain’t it when you suffer from racism how that resonates and manifests in other strata of you’re life. You were hurt so much by the rejection you felt being an England supporter now you want England to lose. Unfortunately I’ve heard this story so many times. Don’t worry mate many many scousers dont cate for the national team club before country.

6.) 19 Jun 2021 13:31:21
regards phillips, he is a cracking player. Obviously he needs to be able to perform consistently at a high level to be 'that guy'. No reason why we couldn't take his current level and mould him into that player.

Evening all.

Has anyone got a look at our 3rd kit for the up and coming season, I like the home shirt not really sold on the away shirt just wondering what the 3rd kit looked like, is it like the yellow crown paints kit of the 80's anyone with concrete knowledge let me know if you would please.

Cheers

Notsozippy.

1.) 08 Jun 2021 18:20:03
I seen a pic a while back of the supposedly 3rd kit! It looked nice was yellow with red pin stripe but now I’m reading and seeing it’s yellow with a red/ yellow chequered collar and cuffed arms it’s poxy looking if true!

2.) 08 Jun 2021 19:00:44
I was just about to post the same thing. Just seen the kit. Not as good as the reebok yellow kit we had some years ago. Think I'll give the kits a miss this year. I do like the look of the German away kit though.

3.) 08 Jun 2021 19:05:26
The pin stripes apparently aren’t happening now, no stripes and just red and yellow checkers on the sleeve and collar. Orrible.

4.) 08 Jun 2021 19:40:56
Yellow is a dreadful colour unless your Brazil. But the red and white kits this season are on fire!

5.) 08 Jun 2021 20:00:08
Yeah I had seen a picture of Thiago wearing the 3rd kit with checkered neck and sleeve cuffs and it's absolutely shocking if genuine who the f##k bloody designs these atrocious jerseys. I personally think we never should have broke from New Balance their last 2 home shirts were iconic and are right up there with some of my personal favourites but Nike it is let's just hope they finally nail a few decent shirts soon but the price of them are a joke how to they expect people with 3 or 4 kids to buy them their team jersey.

6.) 08 Jun 2021 21:14:46
I had the yellow kit back in the 80’s as a kid, got away with it then. with my red hair tinge, wouldn’t happen now lol.
Still have a scarf from back then!

Morning all.

Good to see we have finally addressed the mistake of not replacing Lovern a whole year later. Welcome Konate may your career at Liverpool be long and successful.

We all know that Klopp likes to get his business done as early as possible and we also know that we are cash strapped and are probably totally reliant on player sales to generate funds for strengthening the squad but I still think we need 3 or 4 players including Konate.

We need full back cover Tismekias excuse spelling hasn't worked out and I just don't think Neco Williams is good enough plain and simple. Ideally if you could get someone who can cover both sides that would be amazing if at all possible and would give Robbo and Trent the rest they need and deserve.

With Gini's departure there is a need for replacement with 1 if not 2 midfielders as Keita (waste of space) and Ox (sorry but just too injury prone and still not good enough) are not capable imo of doing so. Whoever we get needs to be a box to box type as our front 3 have had little or no support at times and this has made them appear poor or stale, very hard to score when you have 3 or more defenders to get past without any support.

And finally for me we need another centre forward someone different to Bobby maybe an old fashioned type someone to give Bobby a rest but more so to give us a plan B which is obvious to everyone we don't have at this time.

Anyway it's the silly season where we will be linked with anyone and everyone but I would like to think that if we don't over price the players we need to sell and we can get sufficient funds in then hopefully we can sign some needed quality for the 1st team or squad.

LB/ RB :- one each or one to cover both positions.

C/ M :- Definitely one if not two box to box types to give support to the backline but more so to link up play with our front 3 and give the support that was lacking for periods of times season gone out.

C/ F :- Old school type centre forward someone different to Bobby to give him a rest but to also give us a plan B when needed.

It's only my opinion of what I think we need going forward, I'm sure we probably won't buy what I've stated above especially if we don't have the funds but I'd be interested to see what's everyone else's opinion on what they think we need to do if we possibly can for the coming season.

Cheers all

And a very happy weekend to posters and eds alike hope it's a great one 😀

All the best.

1.) 29 May 2021 11:27:31
I'm wondering if we wanted Konate last season but couldn't afford him, he wasn't available (or was he injured) and the decision was made to wait for him rather buying an expensive stopgap?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

2.) 29 May 2021 11:58:47
We don't need a backup fullback for either side. What level of quality to you expect to be willing to come as backup to Trent or Robbo unless they are paid silly money?

Tsimikas has had some injury issues but hopefully will be more settled and will be used a bit more next season. We have enough players who can play right back too if Trent needed a rest. Neco will hopefully keep improving, Gomez can cover there, Milner can cover there, Fabinho can cover there.

No point in signing players who aren't good enough. You won't get better than the likes of Tsimikas for fullback backup positions. Midfield and up front is different as players can rotate there and get minutes there. Look at Jota, he must have thought he's not in Klopp's best 11 when he joined us but he got loads of opportunities when fit. Different story for backup fullbacks.

3.) 29 May 2021 12:12:11
Lb/ rb doesn't make sense to me. Kostas couldn't play mainly this season due to injury to rest of the backline.
Forward: I tnk ed02 told we will look to replace him next season. rest I tnk will need to be addressed 🤔.

4.) 29 May 2021 14:43:32
We do have options for rb, Konate can play there. But lb we need someone extra I think. Lists was on the bench 30 times but Klopp doesn’t rate him. Maybe a pre season will change that.

5.) 29 May 2021 16:14:29
Hi lads

As I said only my opinion and great to hear other people's views but I thought Tsimikas wasn't happy and looking to get out Sean Ireland maybe I'm miss informed and the level I'm expecting obviously can't be at robbo and trents level but I just feel Neco isn't quite there yet and we've seen nothing of Tsimikas to make opinions about how good or bad he is maybe we might get to see more of him in preseason but I do believe we need a centre midfielder if not 2 and another striker but like I said that's just my opinion.

All the best

Notsozippy.

6.) 29 May 2021 18:46:22
Tsimikas is a full Greek international and still plays about half their games. Sounded like a very good purchase last summer so I'd imagine he is at a good level for a backup player.

I heard he wanted to go too but we don't want to sell. I hope we don't want to sell maybe because Klopp has seen enough to believe he can use him next season and he should be a lot more settled by then.

Neco has looked incredibly raw alright but we have so many others than could also cover right back.

If Trent or Robbo don't get injured then really you're looking at someone to play league cup matches, some FA Cup matches, the odd champions league match and maybe 6 league matches at most. I don't see us being able to attract players of a higher standard than the likes of Tsimikas for that amount of playing time.

19 May 2021 22:16:51
God we don't do things the easy way do we fair play to the lads not a great performance but 3 pts a clean sheet and up to 4th which I'll be honest I couldn't see us making 4 games ago .

Well 1 home game against Crystal Palace and a win should secure champions league football for another year. I'm not saying that Crystal Palace will be a walk in the park but with the fans back and it all to play for we should have enough in the tank to see it through and it wouldn't be the worst end to a very testing season.

Well done again lads great determination to win Well pleased with the result.

1.) 19 May 2021 22:20:05
Must of watched a different game tonight?

2.) 19 May 2021 22:50:36
Great result. What has happened to Fabinho over last few games - off the pace, dispossessed in dangerous areas, bad passing giving the ball away in dangerous areas, no tackling, no strength. Very odd.

3.) 20 May 2021 00:11:54
I think he's just tired. Just like Wijnaldum. This late push by the team must be both physically and mentally exhausting.

Agree about Gomez has been fantastic this season but injury record not great for a youngster if you want to be the best in the world you have to have the best players what's to say Gomez couldn't play full back more solid than TAA imo. Defence :-Alisonn, Gomez, Van Diyk, Koulibaly, Robertson if that's not enough to get you excited I don't know what is Ed0333.

{Ed0333's Note - Gomez is no right back mate he’s too haphazard there. I’m sure Koulibaly would be VVD money and I’m not sure we will spend that amount on a player again.

Hope your trying to wind us up as we have enough rubbish at the club without adding another average player if we are in the market for another world class centre half then test Napoli's resolve and make a proper bid for Koulibaly.

{Ed0333's Note - And what message does that send to joe Gomez who was playing out of his skin before his injury.

He'd get his place in the Everton team no bother 😁 ed25 . Look all joking aside a decent player but only in dribs and drabs has a great 25mins then wouldn't hear his name mentioned for the rest of the game be sorry to see him leave I've actually grown to like him but he would only be a squad player aside from injuries and that probably needs to be playing week in week out but won't get that at Liverpool this season plus we have to trim the squad he wouldn't be my 1st choice to go by a long shot but things need to be balanced out in all fairness.

{Ed025's Note - i have to be honest zippy he would probably do a decent job for us mate, but liverpool are on a different planet at the moment and you dont win titles with the likes of gini in your team im afraid..

For me Kabak has not shown enough quality for us to warrant signing him, Philips might not be the most gifted centre half but he gives 100% every time he puts on that red Jersey and I would be comfortable having him as one of our 4 centre halves provided we of course go out and get a quality CB in the summer.

The only thing I would be worried about is how big Virgil and Joe come back after their long term injuries I would hope they both would be 100% for the 21/ 22 preseason but there is always the terrible feeling that they could have a break down in their full recovery and we could be left short in that department again hopefully fingers crossed that won't be the case.

But for me if we had 4 of VVD, Gomez, Philips and Konate or someone alike then we would have adequate cover for the CB position.

Oh totally agree Ed1.

I don't want to rush him back either and then end up losing him for the rest of the season.

But whenever he does come back I just hope that everyone else that is currently fit still are and we can finally put out our strongest 11 albeit missing all of our 3 1st team centre halves. It will be interesting to see how the team fares with the added drive and protection that Hendo alongside Fabs will give to the back 4 and maybe allow Thiago to show his real ability in his preferred position linking up with the front 3.

Or maybe Bobby will drop back into mid and Jurgen might go for a front 3 of Jota, Mane and Salah through the middle who knows but it's imperative that we get our captain back ASAP fully fit to pick us up and drive us on for whatever the remainder of the season will bring.

Cheers

Notsozippy.

{Ed001's Note - fully agree mate, Hendo defo makes us better.}
