There have been numerous rumours since Klopp joined that we have been actively scouting Jonathan Tah. Is there any truth in that and is he a player that we could look at to partner VVD long term?

From what I've read (not sure if correct) he has a €30m release clause, if that's the case it would be a no brainer as he is a talent, is young and for the money wouldn't be a financial risk.

1.) 20 Jul 2018 16:12:24
ed2 said in the sharkapod that spurs hold an interest and an enquiry quickly got knocked back. if it was as simple as paying 30m im sure spurs would have been more persistent with it.

{Ed002's Note - Any release clause is of no relevance.}

2.) 20 Jul 2018 16:14:10
We have VanDijk, Lovren, Matip, Klavan and Gomez. I don't think we are getting a new cb unless we sell one.

3.) 20 Jul 2018 16:25:37
Ha, £30m is not a 'financial risk'.

4.) 20 Jul 2018 19:39:04
£30 million for a player of his age and current experience/ skill isn’t a risk in that you will never lose money on him. Obviously the release is irrelevant as Ed says so he may be more but It’s not a risk paying that for him imo.

16 Jul 2018 12:30:21
This is a left field rumour. In a podcast conversation with the NY Redbulls Assistant Manager Jesse Marsch, he was asked about developing US youth players. They mentioned Matt Miazga as Marsch used to manage him and he said he is still in Chelsea's roster but has been playing in Holland (Vitesse) . The host was angling that he didn't make it in the PL but Marsch said it's the opposite and he went to Holland for first team experience and there has actually been an approach/ enquiry for him by Liverpool and he has a very bright future in the PL.

1.) 16 Jul 2018 12:44:07
There's been plenty of young players predicted to have a bright future in the PL. Not many cut the mustard unfortunately.

2.) 16 Jul 2018 15:28:37
He specifically mentioned that we had enquired or made contact with Chelsea regarding him.

3.) 16 Jul 2018 17:43:47
A specific rumour?
Not sure how that works.
Does that mean he's just more detailed in the potential BS he's giving?
Is he more guaranteed to make it in the PL than Solanke is, who we also got from Chelsea and was touted as a top young talent?

4.) 16 Jul 2018 19:00:24
It works by specifically saying we've made contact, not just that we're interested.

This is the simplest case of RTFP that you can get.

5.) 16 Jul 2018 19:33:55
Left field rumour with specifics.
Who should be RTFP exactly?
We wouldn't be making contact if we weren't interested, would we?
Stay classy dude,

6.) 16 Jul 2018 20:05:49
The target is leftfield. That doesn't mean the content is unspecific. You tried to shoot him down and failed because you can't grasp what he was saying. Sorry.

7.) 16 Jul 2018 23:09:43
Shoot him down?
You've been watching too much TV dude.
How can anybody be specific about a young player having a bright future in the PL? That is the content isn't it?
Have you got your crystal ball out Mystic Meg?
Or is it you that's struggling to grasp it?
Chelsea player but playing in Holland, and this is from a US podcast?
Can you get any more tenuous?

8.) 16 Jul 2018 23:36:29
If you class watching the World Cup as too much TV then yes, I have been. The rumour was not that he has a bright future, true, that's conjecture. It doesn't matter where the source came from, he specifically said that we had enquired about him. That is the content of the rumour, the rest is background. Otherwise it would have just said we'd enquired about Matt Miazga and you, like me, would have probably said, 'who'? It really isn't difficult.

9.) 17 Jul 2018 09:48:29
Exactly that Bardzo, my ears pricked and I had to google him when they mentioned us. When 99% of fans don’t know the name I’m happy that it constitutes a left field rumour. He was pretty quick and confident in saying that we had put a call/ email/ fax/ pigeon/ smoke signal in so it’s interesting at least.

10.) 17 Jul 2018 18:47:17
Exactly mate, cheers for sharing it. I have no idea who the lad is, however. Seems to be another one of the line of Chelsea youngsters we're after. Hope the coach's premonition turns out to be true!

05 Jun 2018 17:13:59
Pepijn Lijnders has returned as first team coach. This is a huge positive for the club going into such an important new season. League progression and consistency will be the goal and he could be crutial.

1.) 05 Jun 2018 17:36:37
Great news.

2.) 05 Jun 2018 18:04:25
happy days.

3.) 05 Jun 2018 18:30:47
Excellent news. Still hold out hope for the' Brain' to come back too.

4.) 05 Jun 2018 19:40:55
Not going to happen.

5.) 05 Jun 2018 21:40:32
That definitely means the brain is out out.

28 May 2018 19:19:05
Reports coming out tonight that Liverpool have make a €50 Million bid for Fabinho from Monaco. Do the Ed's have any news/ thoughts on this?

1.) 28 May 2018 22:25:13
He has signed for us tonight.

2.) 28 May 2018 22:40:47
Reported interest at about 8 signed by 9.

3.) 28 May 2018 22:58:37
Finally we have a mutha truckin proper defensive midfielder that we have been craving for yeeeeeeeeeeeeees hope we get fekir, an obviously a top drawer keeper plus cover for front 3 also cover for centre back an we moving in right direction.

28 May 2018 06:52:58
Do the ED's know of any interest past or present in Jasper Cillessen? He's not in the fantasy league realms of Oblak and Allison and should be a realistic price, he would be an automatic No1 over what we have and would form a natural top of the spine with VVD.

{Ed001's Note - no.}

1.) 28 May 2018 07:01:14
Jasper Cillessen is terrible on crosses and error prone. There’s a reason that he’s a number two.

2.) 28 May 2018 07:32:15
Is this not the problem with every keeper. They are open to the worst criticism and very rare they get any credit (other than a winning shoot out) . There will be examples of every keeper making some kind of errors.

The guy is No2 at one of the best clubs in Europe, he’s the No1 for Holland and is only 29 so has plenty of years left in him. He wouldn’t cost the earth, has a good understanding with the center back that is in front of him and based on his performances for Holland and Ajax is better than what we have.

We will not be getting Oblak or Allison and there are far more positives to signing Cillisen than the likes of Butland or Navas.

3.) 28 May 2018 08:10:35
I’ve seen him play for Barcelona and he does not look like a keeper that fills me with confidence. Whenever the ball goes into the Barcelona box and he’s playing you can see the defenders don’t look confident, he’s not confident with catching the ball, lacks the physique to challenge for the ball and often stays on his line waiting. The Netherlands don’t have any strength in depth in their keepers, so being number one is hardly a sign of absolute quality at this moment in time. Cillessen is every bit as poor as Navas in my opinion. To me he lacks any distinct quality and is no way in improvement on any one already at the club bar Bogdan.

4.) 28 May 2018 12:23:46

{Ed002's Note - This is not the place to add long lists of random players - try the Banter page which already have a thread please.}

5.) 28 May 2018 16:15:04
It seems like there is going to be a lot of disappointed people then.

May I be the first to welcome Navas to Anfield. Yes I'm fickle but based on the 60' I've seen of this games he's well worth getting.

1.) 22 Jun 2018 17:09:57
He is not at all worth getting. The Navas or a World Cup game against a sub par Brazil team is going to drop an absolute bollock on a freezing cold November away to Burnley because he’s terrible on crosses and makes mistakes that would embarrass Mignolet. Never, ever sign a player based on a good game in a World Cup. Three words. El Haji Diouff.

2.) 22 Jun 2018 19:52:53
Coutinio is the real star in that team but we've all known that for years. Firmino should be in that team instead of jesus and I bet he starts the next game. People saying Brazil were poor and I only caught the last 20 minutes but they looked stunning to me, the defence was shocking but it still took the vision to dismantle a world cup qualifying team with an ease you don't see that often. If Liverpool played like Brazil did in that 20/ 30 minutes (which they do quite often) we would be purring.

3.) 22 Jun 2018 20:40:50
Navas 3 consecutive CL medals might suggest he's had more than 1 good game. I could be wrong though as Real are a 1 man team so it could be Ronaldo keeping the ball out of the net on his own as well as scoring all the goals at the other end.

4.) 22 Jun 2018 21:04:29
As well as winning all the defence and midfield challenges!

5.) 22 Jun 2018 21:17:03
I reckon so jayden. Maybe he is not a world class keeper but he must be good. Real Madrid are the most desirable e team to play for, they could sign anyone and the have gone with navas.

If 8 had a choice between Karius and navas, I would go with navas. He won't cost the world but its an important signing the gk. Klopp is expected to push for the league next year and I don't think we will win it with a poor or even average gk. I don't think it's a guarantee that he will play well for us, in our league. He struggles with crosses and our league is famous for crossing. I'd rather go navas than karius but I'd rather sign someone younger, bigger, better at crosses than navas.

6.) 22 Jun 2018 22:10:10
Watched real a lot this season. not much the 2 previous seasons but navas is great and terrible at he same time. I you want keeper to flap and try to punch at every corner. sign him up. Karius is better. It's allison for me,

{Ed0333's Note - I thought Navas was top drawer today.

7.) 22 Jun 2018 22:10:10

8.) 22 Jun 2018 23:32:37
Prince Hendo, Madrid are looking to get £30m for that clown. He’s absolutely terrible at dealing with high balls into the box and crosses. He played against one of the most bang average Brazil teams in years, that does not make him a world beater. You could stick a tub of lard in goal for Madrid and it would have a chance of winning a trophy. He would be a terrible signing and his weaknesses would be quickly worked out.

9.) 23 Jun 2018 14:12:31
Yeah, I get you frankly. The guy is a national hero though. He had quick reflexes too apparently. I really haven't seen him much tbh. I still think he must have something to be real Madrid 1st choice.

I think 30mil is WAY too much. I didn't know that. Too much to take a chance on.

19 Jun 2018 10:30:14
I remember reading a while back that Solanke has a "playing time" clause in his contract. Do we know if he came close to it last season and what impact will this will have in the coming season? What are the penalties if he doesn't go out on loan and then doesn't get the required games/ minutes?

1.) 19 Jun 2018 11:16:11
It’s horse dung.

2.) 19 Jun 2018 15:57:46
I got this funny feeling that Firmino is due an injury, god I hope it doesn't happen but I see dom solanke getting a bit of a run next season and giving klopp a headache as he scores in every game.

13 Jun 2018 11:09:45
Spain sack there manager the day before the start of the World Cup.

May I be the first person to wish Rafa good luck in his new job. If they don't offer it to him they are crazy, It's his life ambition and he would give everything he has.

1.) 13 Jun 2018 11:22:38
Serve him right I think disrespectful to announce it before world cup ended.
Cmon Spain offer to rafa even if just for the world cup and then a new guy comes in afterwards.

2.) 13 Jun 2018 11:28:51
Completely disrespectful of Him and Real Madrid, I’m guessing Hierro will just take charge now.

3.) 13 Jun 2018 19:25:15
The Spanish FA chief said he only found out 5 minutes before it was announced. I don't know how it works with international managers but shouldn't Real have asked permission from the FA first? Pretty sure they'd be in trouble if it was a club they nabbed him from, Lopetegui having not long ago signed a new contract, and all that.

08 Jun 2018 22:41:56
The Queen has categorically denied that Kenny Dalglish has been knighted. He's had a medical at the Palace but she wants to leave it until after the World Cup.

1.) 08 Jun 2018 22:57:36
It is also possible that other kings and queens are interested in knighting him.

2.) 08 Jun 2018 22:56:06
Well done to Kane for being knighted 🤣.

3.) 08 Jun 2018 23:03:38
You funny fekir!

08 Jun 2018 22:40:58
Arise Sir Kenny Dalglish

What fantastic news for Kenny, the family and the whole club. Fully deserved, chuffed for him.

What I don’t understand is why not? Especially given all the talk of his relationship with Klopp and also the fact that this his Age, Nationality and skill/ potential fits our business model direction and he obviously knows Klopps system.

The only think I can assume is that Klopp sees something in him that doesn’t make him the right fit for what he is doing, the league or how we play.

You can always make space for a world class teenager, especially when that kid knows, likes and respects the manager. I’m just intrigued as to why it’s an insta NO when his name comes up?

Redrebel has arranged an Anti Fabinho protest called “He Ain’t Fab. ” to be held at Anfield at 4pm if anyone is interested. Free tea and coffee to all wearing a shirt that has a players name on the back (as long as it’s not Fabinho) . Free ice lollies for kids (No fabs) .

See you there.

It looks like the agent is short of a few quid or has bills to pay because the desperation it embarrassing. It makes you wonder what his club think of it or would they need to approve or at least give a nod to tactics like this?

It seems as if someone is on the goalkeeper merry-go-round and is screaming because he wants to go faster. I can’t see how we can even consider this now given Klopp has told Lorius and Ward that it’s 1v1 for the shirt?

VVD header is on PP at 40/ 1 in their power specials.

A couple more decent bets:

Salah 2+ Goals - Betfair 6/ 1

Salah to score, Milner to get an assist, Liverpool to win and Ronaldo to hit the woodwork. 20/ 1 - Paddy Power.
