Ed 002, you seemed to think Klopp was not after a Centre back but is now ready to spend the largest amount of our transfer war chest on exactly that. Has Klopp been playing his cards close to his chest. or is this just a last minute knee jerk reaction?

This came very late mate. We brought the bet CB in the league and let's happily move on. I am pretty sure the club will offload a few to make space for VVD. Gomez and Sakho will raise money as well free up some wages.

Don't listen to anything you hear regarding what klopp wants to do, everyone at Liverpool keep their cards close to their chest, a CB was always going to come in. I still think he fancies a striker and he's happy with milner as left back maybe getting Robertson in as cover, but who knows. time will tell.

Why VVD? Are you serious? . Again with the negativity, the owners can't win with some people. if FSG decide he's worth breaking a record or 2 for then he's worth it to them so let them pay it! if we lost the chance to sign him by going in low they'd be ridiculed. im happy they are trying to get business done early and willing to invest a hell of a lot of money with klopp to strengthen the team. although I hope they tell him No to Robertson if im honest ;)

Why is no one thinking Klopp might not think he made a mistake with Klavan, and he will be the one to go? Why would we get rid of a young just because we need to fix a CB issue now? I don't see why Gomez has to go just because Klopp was the one who wanted Klavan? He hardly said Klavan was his first choice.

Red fuzz out of the 4 you mentioned I'd say only Alderweireld was a match for vvd. Granted Bailly looks a good signing he was very rash at times and often lucky not to get 2nd yellow on a number of occasions (the words of a few utd fans I know) Also on reading a lot of Saint's fans forums they nearly all said vvd was best C, bk they've had inc Alderweireld! Let's hope so. May I just say Ed025 has been brilliant in recent days in dealing with the negative lot and putting things into perspective.

Alderweireld is the best CB in the league imo. VVD though could be right up there as he has all the ability and tools to be the best but he needs to work on his defensive nous. Hopefully, Klopp can bring out the best in him.

I have him behind Alderwerield, Vertongen and Koschielney but with the potential to overtake all 3. Not a huge fan of Kuiz but I agree Bailly looks quality but he's not played enough to be rated so high.

So, we had a list of players we would go for if we got Champions League football and a list of players we would go for if we didn't. We didn't get Sessegnon, won't now by the look of it get Brandt and are apparently messing VVD about the structure of wages. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't these players on our wishlist SHOULD we get Champions League football? It isn't the end of the World and there are other good players out there. but if they are/ were our main targets and if we are still dragging our heels getting deals done then it is Poor form!

The people slating VVD are ridiculously wide of the mark if they think he's a terrible centre half. Because clearly he isn't. If we had the chance of signing him and blew it because of our own stupidity and then end up with a substandard player like Keane or Gibson, then we only have ourselves to blame for making ourselves a laughing stock and wasting money on players that no other top club would consider. And to think, people used to slag off Ian Ayre.

Ed025 we could sign Messi and Ronaldo and I'll still not be happy this window unless we sign a quaility right back or left back and push Milner to right back. I can't look at the team sheet next season with Clyne on it. Young Arnold still needs time.

Ino mate but I feel again we're not addressing the real cracks. If we can waste time trying to pursue ox from Arsenal (who we may get According to macca) who we absolutely do not need I see no excuse as to why we can't search for a quaility right back and even left back. Robertson is worse than Clyne. With the way we play and space down the wings it's a no given.

To be honest if any player choses not to sign because his demands break our wage structure then good. Im sick to death of greedy footballers, its hardly like VVD would be worried about paying off his mortgage! It gets to a point when its not about football anymore and any transfer target should be more interested in enjoying the privilege of playing for Liverpool, instead of thinking about how much they can squeeze the club for. Shanks must be turning in his grave at the state of the modern game. Wish the FA had got in front of it in the late 90's and introduced a wage cap when the silly money started getting waved about. It's not the amount that is the issue. The issue is that we offered him one deal then renegade at the last minute changed it completely to something much lower. Don't know about anyone else but that would p**s me off to.

He doesn't Ed025, you should've seen the fuss he made when we signed wijnaldum last summer. Turned out to be one of our best player this season though didn't he, Frankly? I suggest you wait and see who we sign before kicking off slagging off the club and even then waiting to see how that player performs. The ed's have always maintained that we aren't after a CB so I don't think van Dijk was even a target in the first place, just media stirring the pot.
It's the first of June. The international transfer window doesn't even open for another month, the only reason people are getting upset is because City have bought a couple of ridiculously overpriced players from much weaker leagues. If you want to support a club that spends £200M+ a year then go support them or United. One barely finished above us and the other finished 6th. They have really really expensive players with exotic names though which is what matters to most these days.
Sorry about the rant, these posts are starting to wind me up now and there's still a long way to go. God help me😂.

I don't want us to sign the likes of Gibson/ Keane/ Maguire ed025 as it would be a waste of money, it's now very likely that we've blown the chance of getting a good quality centre back by messing Van Dijk around in almost exactly the same way that we've blown other potential deals in the past.
{Ed025's Note - keane was in the last england squad FMS so cant be that bad, i actually like a balance and think 1 or 2 lesser lights can be accommodated into most sides, i think your being a bit elitist there mate expecting a "worldie" in every position, its not always about how much a player costs as coleman for us cost £60k..

I'd take just 3 points too, but with our last game being at home where we can tend to get the "Jitters", it would be a comfort to have an upbeat victory behind us for confidence as opposed to another nervy and scruffy performance .

Well we have been awful pretty much since the turn of the year and Keane maybe has a small point about celebrating a top 4 spot but we have to start somewhere. We certainly are not going to go from 8th to winning the League. We need a foothold in the top 4 Davey to atrract better players. Players who want to play in the CL. So i won't go overboard with top 4 but it is certainly an improvement on last year and that is all i could have expected this year. Anyway, who listens to Roy Keane? Have you seen the state of that knob with that beard? He's a prat, always was and always will be.

Considering this is the second time in about 7 years we may qualify for the champs league i sure as hell will celebrate. Celebrate being able to watch us playing elite teams at the top table again. Ask yourself this question. Have you ever seen Sturridge get injured or pull up with a muscle injiry during a game? I can't remember our most injury prone player ever doing this for us or for England . It always seems to be issues during training. This may be just a coincidence or it could lend some credence to these rumours.

For the price we can get Ox for it is well worth looking to in my opinion. I work with a semI professional footballer and Arsenal fan who rates him highly and really wants him to stay. For all the positions he can cover he is well worth 20/ 25m in this crazy market. Is he a game changer or Marquee signing. no, but at that price he leaves a lot of money left in the kitty for other areas to be strengthened.
