Eds how come none of my posts are appearing?

I know I maybe boring but this is kick on the goolies.

Also great performance last night, side note was merson on drugs? He looked high last night.

Molbydiet

{Ed014's Note - you posted one about the redsox on the 12th March and two about Klopp having CV in January.

Merson is a tool.

1.) 17 Mar 2022 08:37:52
I don't think he looked like he was on drugs, just as if someone's bewildered elderly father had just wondered into the studio off the street.

Merson seemed adamant City will win the league, so if his form is any indicator, the league will end up at Anfield.

2.) 17 Mar 2022 09:47:09
Tbf although his delivery was odd, I have to agree with him. I would rather be in citys position. They are ahead on points and we have to go to the etihad where they can play for the draw but we have to win. They’ve also had the better of us recently.

They also have easier fixtures on paper so I definitely think they are favourites but we are right in the mix. We will have a much clearer picture in a few weeks.

3.) 17 Mar 2022 09:49:51
I could kind of see his logic being that City are a point ahead and we need to beat them at theirs. But it sounded like he was saying even if we win all our games there’s no guarantee we’d clinch the league. Despite that meaning City would lose another game!

4.) 17 Mar 2022 09:59:35
Whilst city are playing worse teams on paper, this time of the season every point is heightened as the amount you play for twindles.

At this time of the season I would much rather play a team in mid table with next to nothing to fight for then a team fighting for their lives.

Also, whilst city have more points, I quite like being the chasers, less pressure and we can just keep going about our business. one slip for city and they know the door is left a jar for us to waltz through. Personally, I think it will go down to the last game where all week we will hear how Gerrard can finally win us a title!

5.) 17 Mar 2022 10:57:50
Merson went full kevin keegan last night about man City last night as if he played there and was a ex legend 😂.

6.) 17 Mar 2022 11:10:17
In fairness though they are the sort of teams City do drop points in. They beat the likes of Chelsea who we see hoping take points off them, but drop points at Palace who we assumed would be 3 points for City. Interesting end to this league, just need to take it one game at a time and keep going, all cup finals we're playing now.

7.) 17 Mar 2022 13:58:44
Did Merson really think Arsenal was going to win? That is where he went wrong, IMO.

I am hugely disappointed with the transfer window, as I thought we needed a attacking option. BUT I believe we cannot get ourselves into a mess financially and hope then it helps us win a league, we are I believe in the top 3 highest wage bill so It would be stupid to putbhje club in jeopardy. I am a huge NFL fan and have been following Washington redskins (now known as the Washington team), they have not won a superbowl for 29 years, they have thrown money coaches it with no success, what suffered was the infrastructure, internal misconduct etc, they now focus in how to breed a honest and open work environment with coaching being the key ingredient, I am just happy watching this team try to win with honest endeavour and hard work within their talent pool, us as fans just seem to want our owners out because they are not spending money etc, I cannot remember the last period we have had like this with klopp and these current players, enjoy them and when it ends let's rebuild, after all it's only a game😃.

Molbydiet

1.) 01 Sep 2021 08:40:17
We will drop to 5th or 6th after last seasons drop off as the wage bill is incentive based.

01 Sep 2021 07:58:47
I can't say that I am disappointed we didn't sign a forward option because I think we need one, BUT I believe we cannot spend what we haven't got, sometimes being frugal is good, we all want stars new signings, make the team options better, justlook at teams like Barcelona, juvemtus, inter etc it hasn't worked for them. We need to have faith in the way we are run. I am a massive nfl fan, support the Washington redskins (I can still say that I hope), they have not won a superbowl.

Molbydiet

1.) 01 Sep 2021 08:35:59
OP, I think you have posted the sale thing twice, lol. That said, for us to sign someone in attack, someone had to leave and most importantly, the attacker has to be convinced that he won’t start half the games cos whoever we get has to do a Jota and if not, will turn into a Minamino who never gets games.

If you can’t get such a player then, better not sign anyone then and keep your powder dry till you get who you really want. That Isis the way it has always been with our transfers and long may it continue.

I understand how everyone has an option, but listening to some pundits and journos predicting that liverpool will be 4tj at best is laughable, if the squad stayed as it is j think with no injuries to people like salah, mane, fab, vvvd and trent that will keep them out for months then why can't we win the title?

We can do what we did the year we won it, we have extra fire power from then, the only issue I see is if Kane hoes to city, that is a difference maker.

Molbydiet

1.) 12 Aug 2021 17:14:18
I’ve no problem with anything they say as it just makes it more enjoyable when we prove the wrong. AGAIN!

2.) 12 Aug 2021 17:19:30
I would rather trust Klopp and thr players than the opinion of ex players who seem to think causing controversy is the way to stay employed.

3.) 12 Aug 2021 17:20:29
Coz no one knows how VVD and Gomez will perform after coming back from horrific Injury. Will they have a break-down? How many months will it take them to play @100%?

Then we have Africa Cup of Nations in January. They're lots of factors hence even our legends (pundits) think Chelsea City and United can finish above us unless we've got a lot of luck with injuries and VVD Gomez etc Start running the ground when the season starts which is impossible with the injuries they had tho.

4.) 12 Aug 2021 17:24:11
We are so nearly there Molby but there are just one or two many issues with our squad.
I am moving more and more in favour of signing Sanchez. We only need him firing for about 20 games to take the pressure of the injury prone midfield. I know the irony add another injury prone player. But 3 injury prone players can cover at least one spot in midfield. He was good in the euros. I dunno am changing my mind already.
It’s past 5pm time for a beer.

6.) 12 Aug 2021 17:40:38
I hope they carry on like this to be fair!

I give it 6 weeks into the season when they all start the love in again!

7.) 12 Aug 2021 17:50:49
Totally agree about are first 11 and are back defenders are as good as anybody’s. if stay Ox stays fit his as good a back out there and Jota is as good as any of the other forward back ups Elliott looks great but only time will tell Milner started looking his age Jones still learning. City and Chelsea especially greater depth. So we will need luck with injuries but I am totally confident we will be back where we was 2 season ago.

8.) 12 Aug 2021 17:59:25
Our defence is miles ahead and I agree with you Miz they will all change there mind after 6 weeks. You can get 11/ 2 LFC winning the league it’s a no brainier. I got 5/ 1 top at Christmas it’s like buying money. 😉.

9.) 12 Aug 2021 18:21:12
They just tip whoever has splashed the most cash.
Man City should be favourites.
Liverpool second favourites.
Chelsea and man United joint third favourites.
I don't think there is much between the 4 teams though. I think injuries, head to heads and pure luck will play a big part in it this year.

10.) 12 Aug 2021 18:26:48
Does anyone really listen to these so called pundits? They go for whatever is flavour of the month/ the easy choice as they don't want to make bold predictions and damage their credibility/ knowledge - looking at the BBC predictions, most have gone for either City or Chelsea because they have the biggest squad (spent a lot of money) and are current PL or CL champions. Some have gone for Man Utd, simply because again they have 2 shiny new toys or have Utd connections.

All i can say is i think it will be an interesting race and all the teams have qualities but i am confident if we can avoid many long term injuries we have a good 17/ 18 players that we can rely on to win us this league.

09 Jul 2021 07:17:39
I am probably going to be shot down but I think we will not challenge for the title next season, don't get me wrong we will be in a nd around it but not for the. long haul.

There are areas that in the squad we need to address, ins and outs that I think will go beyond next season,

I understand our club model but sill feel that we need an injection of real top quality in the forward areas to give the current squad a lift but also make Sadio, Mo and Bobby (like jota has started to do) feel their place is only guaranteed if they perform to the highest standard week in and week out, also impacting a game with that type if sub would be good.

Hopefully I am proven totally wrong again!

1.) 09 Jul 2021 07:40:42
If only the transfer window was still open.

2.) 09 Jul 2021 08:25:06
That free's up 9 months thanks mate. No point wasting time watching next season now is there?

3.) 09 Jul 2021 08:46:52
The best case scenario we can hope for are moves for Bissouma and Malen and imo that would guarantee us as strong contenders for the title again. The transfer window is still open for like a whole other month and barely any premier league clubs have signed anybody. I’m still waiting for anybody to tell me where in the squad needs improving that the club don’t appear to be a prioritising this summer, and who these mystery world class players on non-extortionate wages would be.

I’m also worried about our capability to get the transfers we need over the line but i’m not just going to write us off because we haven’t made them yet. Last season really seems to have cultivated an air of reactionary pessimism amongst some supporters.

4.) 09 Jul 2021 08:48:36
Wow, OP. You really think our squad was perfect, full of top class and quality talent when we swept ALL before us in those three years we were Champions of Everywhere and Everything? You think the Italian team in Sunday's final are full of top quality talent? If you think that then, I don't blame you for posting such comments cos none of that is true.

Well, Maybe you should hurry and tell Klopp and the boys not to turn up for preseason anymore on Mon cos clearly, they won't be able to challenge for the title cos you, the All-Seeing and All-knowing One has seen the future. With that in mind, I have cleared my TV calendar so will be joining my wife in binge-watching the Handmaid's Tale series. Thanks, bro.

5.) 09 Jul 2021 08:50:23
Bugger, did we just sell virg, Trent and Salah and Klopp quit while I was playing golf?

6.) 09 Jul 2021 09:28:39
Consider yourself shot down 😂.

7.) 09 Jul 2021 09:37:11
We have the best GK, the best CB, really promising CBs in the other slot, the best full backs, 3 great midfielders, the best attacker (Salah) and 3 other really good attackers (Bobby, Mane and Jota) . If we can add more quality depth to our midfield, then other teams should be scared.

8.) 09 Jul 2021 10:19:02
At the moment, we have Portugals starting forward, a forward with plenty of caps for the number 1 ranked team in the world, and the best Japanese international forward on our bench. Other than city and, at a push Chelsea, who has better backup than that?

9.) 09 Jul 2021 11:04:30
Wow guys just pointing out our deficiencies as I see it

1) will VVD and Gomez come back fully healed
2) are we going to have another season when salah stays fit and no long term injuries

I am only saying that if we were to reinforce in the forward areas then I would be fully confident. But again this is only my opinion, I am sure there will be something in the pipeline.

10.) 09 Jul 2021 11:59:43
OP, I think you'd have a reasonable point if we were at the end of the window. However, I have no doubt that there will be more incomings and the 2 weaker areas - midfield without Gini and more support for the forwards - is where we are looking.

If you consider the dominant team in 18/ 19 and 20/ 21:

GK - Alisson still here, Kelleher is a very promising backup and Adrian is no slouch as No 3 - I think we are actually a little better than we were as I rate Kelleher in 21/ 22 as slightly better than Adrian in 19/ 20.

Defence - On balance, I would say we are about the same as we were in our dominant years. Konate is a great prospect, and better than Lovren, IMO. However, as you point out, we have to wait and see how Gomez and VVD return from their LT injuries. I would prefer Phillips to be our 4th choice over Matip, but unfortunately I can see us selling him both for funds, and also at his request for game time. Robbo and TAA are a year or two more experienced so if anything are better than they were in past seasons.

Midfield - Right now, I believe we are slightly worse off as we haven't replaced Gini yet. Also, Milner is 1/ 2 years older, although I still think he will win the bleep test at pre-season! However, on the flip side, we didn't have Thiago in 18/ 19 or 19/ 20 and he is a quality addition. With another addition who can cover Fab (so we don't have to play Thiago or Hendo there) we will be as good if not better than the title winning seasons.

Forwards - our Fab 3 are older. Salah still looks his irrepressible self, Mane did struggle but I wonder if that is the after effects of C.V. and whether a rest over the summer will help him. Firmino also didn't look at his best. However, we have added Jota since our title winning season, and he looks great. I'm sure we will add another one, whether Malen or someone else, which will strengthen us further. And, although he is an unknown quantity at this level, let's not forget Elliot. With him in the first team squad as well, I would say that right now we are *marginally* worse mainly due to the form/ fitness of Mane and Firmino, offset by Jota and Elliot's additions. With another decent forward player, I would say that we are better.

Lot's of ifs and buts, and our competitors will strengthen as well, but we have a core of winners and we have kept key players together, only losing Gini. Other teams - I'm looking especially at United - will have new players who need time to settle.

I keep going back to this point, but please do not forget that for 2/ 3rds of last season we were the best team (by results) in the league. The first 1/ 3rd and the last 1/ 3rd we had better form than City (and everyone else) . We had an epically awful middle 1/ 3rd, which we all (including Jurgen! ) know was as a result of trying to cover our defensive frailties through using players out of position. I believe that has now been addressed.

So, the upshot is that I think we are stronger already than we were in 20/ 21 - with the additions of Konate and Elliot - and for 2/ 3rds of 20/ 21 we were in title winning form. With another midfielder and forward we are in better shape than 18/ 19 and 20/ 21 and even without those two roles, we are not far off at all.

11.) 09 Jul 2021 12:04:49
Molbydiet, every team has deficiencies. Every single one of them. It may take time for others to suss you out BUT if you don't do a good job in evolving your team to hide or mitigate against them, you will get found out. The other teams have highly paid employees whose job it is to suss you out. We evolved our team several times under Klopp w/ o spending big money and the receipts (trophies) are there to prove it. Calm down, man.

City despite their money, get found out a far deal in games in the PL. And in the CL, they get done EVERY single year. Why do you think they get bodied every time in the CL? It's cos their deficiencies keep getting exposed and they do nothing to fix them except spending MORE money. The other big teams have money too so what does that fix? Nothing.

Even in the PL, they get exposed quite a lot BUT there aren't enuff quality teams to take full advantage of them or they will just overpower the average teams who can expose them at the end cos quality will tell. Take a chill pill and enjoy the summer and preseason. I'm excited.

12.) 09 Jul 2021 12:47:09
with all of our injuries from last season we still finished 3rd. if we remain relatively healthy we will most definitely challenge not only for the league but for champions league as well. i'm not worried in the least.

13.) 09 Jul 2021 14:21:17
I think people are being harsh on the op, all he said was in his opinion he doesn’t think we will be challenging in the last few months of the season. If he had of said that before last season he would have been shot down but he would have been correct. There are lots and lots of un answered questions about the squad. Time will tell.

14.) 09 Jul 2021 14:54:57
bring it on I say. I like it better knowing that we can't win the prem, especially when fans are in so much doubt. Fits us much better that way.

15.) 09 Jul 2021 15:37:50
Mark, there are not lots and lots of unanswered questions about our team. That is being like the OP as in, making OTT comments. We have decisions to make like any other team b4 every preseason, nothing more. None our legends or big players are leaving the club so there's that. Can't say the same for City where Sterling, Laporte, Mahrez, Bernardo etc. all want out, reportedly. If that is true, then they have way MORE lots more "unanswered questions" than we do. Agian, no need to go all OTT, IMO.

We know what our first 11 is and in fact who our 1st 14/ 15 players are. They are proven winners who didn't just become crap overnight. We just need to navigate this window very well like we have done in the past and we should be good to go. Will we win the title, I have no idea. There is literally NO proof or indication at this juncture, to suggest that we would not be challenging for the title in the final months of next season. None whatsoever.

Shoot, I can't even fathom what will happen in the first game at Norwich nor what players will be available YET someone can see that far into the future? Allow it man. To me, saying so may be an opinion BUT one that cannot be supported by any proof this early esp since the TW is nowhere near over. As you said, Time will tell. Then, let the time tell instead of getting worked up this early in the process.

16.) 09 Jul 2021 16:24:09
So our deficiencies are you saying two "what if" scenarios which are indeed unknown but so are the weekend lotto numbers.

17.) 09 Jul 2021 17:53:43
It’s not OTT to say there are loads of unanswered questions. It’s obvious
Mane, nobody knows until he gets back playing and I tell you this if Mane plays like last season we will be winning nothing.

Can the lb who never played, is he actually good enough? Will Robbo get a rest?

Can the midfield stay fit? How many will get injured at once. Who will be fit for the big games.

Can Allison sort his kicking out?

Will Elliot be top pl level?

Will Tiago play like he did at the end or will he play like he did when we kept getting beat.

Will there be another lock down

VVD if he breaks down then we are bang in trouble as Gomez won’t be ready and probably Matip won’t either.

Etc etc
I have already stated my predictions for next season, but I respect anyone who thinks we will fall short due to too many unanswered questions.

I think both foden and Jones are special players, I said earlier this season Jones is class and should start more. The debate about who is better is a non starter as they perform equally as good for their clubs, but I think the main difference is Klopp trust Jones to play CM, Foden is not trusted by his manager at club or England.

Ed001 that is a great summary, I agree with everything you have put, I was worried about milly and I know a few in the ground around me were nervous about Zaha v Milner. Boy did he take Zaha back to school, his performance was amazing, also salah is now the I reckon at saurez levels, he is the person we look to to lead us on moving forward, I loved his celebrations after his goal, the atmosphere in the ground was electric when he scored.

Molbydiet

{Ed001's Note - I think Salah has moved past Suarez level, as he has done it so consistently for year after year for us.}

I was watching an old match man utd v Wimbledon, binning Jones and Co against Roy Keane, Cantona etc. The tackling was ferocious bordering on assault, but the refs gave free kicks when needed, players got up and carried on, to top it off Cantona scored a worldy to do his talking. Great teams can mix the rough with the sublime, that's what makes them good teams, it is embarrassing how some fans act nowadays let alone the footballers.

A player I would have liked us to sign, I think he has bags of talent and potential. Looks like athletico have a baller on their hands.

Ed001 were we ever interested in him?

Ed001 great summary, absolutely spot on, I understand your thoughts on ox, he has the ability and has previously shown it but has the knee injury effected him more than we think?

He looked out of place and I am hoping it's just sharpness, but compare him to Curtis Jones, whatever position he plays he just looks like he belongs, I am genuinely excited for him this season and I hope he has the chances to show what he can do.

Molbydiet

{Ed001's Note - it is possible the knee injury has affected him, after all it is not his first, but I think it is just the moving from position to position and a lack of match sharpness that was the problem. Also, it was not exactly a cohesive trio in there as they do not play regularly like that, which can't have helped.}
