Hi eds, I have seen an article saying that caceido could be available for 60 million now. Do you think we will end up signing him this window? We are definitely signing someone but would be good to know who we are seriously looking at. Cheers.

MartyMcFly1

{Ed002's Note - Moises Caicedo (DM/CM) Arsenal have enquired after his availability and been told he is not for sale. Prior interest of Manchester United, dating back before he joined Brighton, remains. Liverpool have not made any approach to Brighton although they may have an interest in taking the player. West Ham and Chelsea have an interest. Brighton will demand a very significant fee.

1.) 08 Jan 2023 00:00:55
Caicedo would be great but still not enough. We need two now and one in the summer. Can’t see us getting Bellingham. City will swoop and pay the money and that will be that. We’ll be busy haggling over fee and add ons. FSG need to get the investment or move the club on. Get 3 great midfielders for the price of Bellingham anyway. Makes no sense to put all our eggs in one basket.

2.) 08 Jan 2023 00:44:39
Caicedo would be great. But the cupboard is bare so it’s not likely to happen regrettably.

3.) 08 Jan 2023 02:00:57
The cupboard is most certainly not bare, quite the contrary - where do you get this impression from!? Let me guess. West London?

4.) 07 Jan 2023 23:44:20
Ed’s is the stance the same for McAllister? Have any enquiries been made for him?

{Ed002's Note - Yesy, but not Liverpool.}

5.) 08 Jan 2023 09:27:28
Actually 47, it was from L4. Klopp literally said it himself. There’s no more money until more has been accumulated, those were his words. The cupboard is most definitely bare.

6.) 08 Jan 2023 08:36:39
Caicedo changed agents, since he was told by someone that 'too many agents complicates things'. That usually comes before a transfer or new contract.
He also favours LFC, who have been following him since he was in Ecuador.
It now comes down to Bloom vs Ward. Clearly Bloom wants more than he got for the fullback sold to CFC. let's see what FSG and Ward are made of.
The Real game is around the corner. I can't face loosing to that bunch again.

7.) 08 Jan 2023 09:39:10
“ There’s no more money until more has been accumulated, those were his words. ”

Really?
When/ where did he say those words?

8.) 08 Jan 2023 09:43:13
must have been bare after they spent the last crumbs on Gakpo.

9.) 08 Jan 2023 10:08:23
Those were not his exact words at all. Also Klopp is hardly going to come out and say he has bag fulls of money for a player is he?

10.) 08 Jan 2023 11:02:10
Actually Victor - those were literally NOT his exact words.

11.) 08 Jan 2023 11:08:58
If anyone can post a link to where Klopp said this, it would be greatly appreciated, because I can't find it anywhere.

12.) 08 Jan 2023 11:33:44
“If there is something we can do and that means the right player and financial situation, we will do it. ” Jurgen Klopp (in the press conference prior to our New Year Game against Brentford 2023)

13.) 08 Jan 2023 12:16:21
He was asked about collecting money in ‘Klopp's embargoed pre match Brentford press conference (filmed straight after the Leicester game) ’.

He has stated he was surprised about the Gakpo signing in January but time was right to do it and he talked about not having monopoly money and said the only way we will bring in other signings this window is if current players ask to leave.

14.) 08 Jan 2023 12:29:00
Caicedo alone will not solve our problems and even if they did we shouldn’t be reliant on a single player to make a system work. The system is wrong for the players we have and we need to go back to how Klopp has hd us playing for the last few years, not Pep’s poor and failing imitation of City.

15.) 08 Jan 2023 12:50:33
We would no doubt have to sell someone to raise funds. Who would we sell that is not too old/ injury prone/ inexperienced/ not good enough?
I think the cupboard is bare in that respect.

16.) 08 Jan 2023 13:12:32
VVVV funny how ed002 said money was available.

17.) 08 Jan 2023 13:25:13
£60m + £20m in add-ons maybe. That’s the price of fluffing the previous windows.

I’d move onto Kone, Kephren, Ugarte now. It’s not as if we need one player. We need 3-4 over next two windows.

18.) 08 Jan 2023 15:45:00
It doesn’t matter who we bring in if we keep playing like we do.

19.) 08 Jan 2023 15:55:18
I think it is correct that the system we are trying to operate has broken down. Hendo, for me, was what made the right side click and at times Gini did the same for the left side. Elliot and Thiago are possibly (certainly in Thiago’s case) better footballers but they are nowhere near as good off the ball. Our play has become slower and slower, offering more chances to concede possession, we don't counter press as well as 5 or six other teams in the league, and have huge gaps both centrally and out wide which shouldn't happen.
if this was champ manager, id have nunez and salah up top, trent RM in a 4-4-f***ing-2. But what do i know.

20.) 08 Jan 2023 17:08:37
Correct Torbin. Thiago is a fantastic player but is he a square peg in a round hole. Was great to see Nunez’s goal last night it was a real throwback to the blistering counter attack goals we were once feared for. Now it’s sterile death by football. My worry is no matter who we bring in will it ultimately change anything?

21.) 08 Jan 2023 16:28:29
If there was money available it would have been spent. Klopp has stated that before any more money can be spent the club needs to accumulate it. Ed002 has stated repeatedly that we’re run on a hand to mouth basis and we’re loaded up with debt by FSG, debt which needs to be paid before we can do anything else. It was plain in the summer that we were skint as we were chasing Laimer on a cheap deal as his contract is running down at the end of the window and ended up in the Juventus Bargain Loan Bin. Can’t see us signing anyone else this winter, also can’t see us making big changes in the summer.

Can’t say we haven’t been here before either, remember the centre back debacle? FSG wouldn’t stump up for another centre back when Lovren left and when the brown stuff hit the fan they waited to the last day and went the cheapest route they could do.

Anyone still deluding themselves that Bellingham or Fernandez are genuine options are going to be disappointed. I’d imagine that Matheus Nunes is phoning his agent and asking if he can get him somewhere else in the summer after seeing us at close quarter last night.

22.) 08 Jan 2023 18:46:35
@VVVV; are you saying that whenever you have money you spend it all straight away even if what you are buying is not really what you want?

It’s a really life multi-million business run by people who are in it to make a profit, not an eight year old on the way to the sweetie shop with his pocket money - the club has and will spend where they see value for money and they are quite willing to adapt their plans to get what they want - Diaz and Gakpo for instance where they brought forward their plans.

23.) 08 Jan 2023 19:24:53
FSG have loaded the club up with debt to its eyeballs. They’ve failed to maintain us being competitive and it’s painfully clear that last season was a swansong for this team. No champions league football and less commercial income as a result is going to bring the FSG house of cards falling down as it’ll be the same midfield next season as this with virtually no transfer budget. Defend FSG all you like right now, but when it all goes the way of Hicks and Gillett you can’t say you weren’t warned.

24.) 08 Jan 2023 19:25:55
You don’t know that any of that is true VVVV. Please stop stating opinion as fact.

25.) 08 Jan 2023 20:36:54
@VVVV, I’m not “defending” FSG. FSG have made mistakes - everybody does (especially me as it happens), but they have also done a lot of good and anybody who thinks that the club - team, squad, academy set-up, training facilities, ground - hasn’t improved since they took over is just wrong.

Of course improvement needs to be on-going and there is nothing wrong with people voicing concerns about the lack or slow rate of improvement. The thing is presenting opinions as incontrovertible fact and making declarative statements about what (in this case you) see as the only way the club can progress is at best misguided and at worst just random drivel without context.

If everything you say about the club is negative then you have to expect negativity in return. When all is said and done this is a Liverpool fans forum for (ideally light hearted) banter about things related to the club.

So, in the spirit of light hearted banter what’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen at a Liverpool match?

26.) 09 Jan 2023 01:01:49
VVVV we weren’t anywhere near the top 4 never mind being successful when FSG took over so your argument falls over straight away.
You make it sound like we were winning trophies every season until those pesky Americans came in and ruined everything when the opposite is true.
As for what Klopp says in press conferences if you truly believe everything a manager tells the press then I can’t help you.
The money is there but as per our transfer strategy since Klopp came in (which has made us very successful btw) we won’t move unless the right player becomes available.
I for one would rather us sign nobody in Jan if it means getting the right player in the summer.
I remember as a kid in the 80s I was saving to buy a BMX. I managed to save £65 but the BMX I wanted was £90. There was a lesser one for £65 and I couldn’t wait so I bought it and it wasn’t fast enough and was too heavy to make the jumps I wanted to make.
I still regret that impatience to this day.

27.) 09 Jan 2023 09:28:36
“ FSG have loaded the club up with debt to its eyeballs. ”

The accounts don’t indicate this.

28.) 09 Jan 2023 10:08:05
It seems to be a current theme though - make stuff up to suit your own negative agenda. It's comical to read though when you know they are talking crap just to justify their own misery.

26 Dec 2022 21:14:49
Sounds like Gapko is happening. Can't say I've seen anything of him tbh. Any news on this one eds?

MartyMcFly1

{Ed002's Note - Yes it is correct - but unclear where that leaves Diaz and Jota, or where it leaves Gakpo when they are fit. It seems odd that the are looking to strengthen away from the midfield priority.}

28 Jul 2022 06:15:20
Hi eds, hope you are well. If Bobby leaves this summer are we looking to replace him and if so, any idea who with? Thanks.

MartyMcFly1

{Ed002's Note - As far as I know Liverpool are not looking to sell and the player is content.}

1.) 28 Jul 2022 11:54:15
Ed002 did you say the other day the club are looking at a contract renewal for Bobby.

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

2.) 28 Jul 2022 14:14:29
Cheers Ed hopefully he signs a new deal seems like the sort of pro you want around to set a good example to the young lads at the club.

3.) 28 Jul 2022 19:15:06
Great. That's what I thought. Just seen a few reports this morning. Love Bobby.

4.) 28 Jul 2022 20:58:39
Yes, yes. I, too, want him to stay. A 3 year contract, like for Salah, would be perfect. Klopp can figure out where to play him, LOL. It'll be a headache for sure, but what's one more. to the many Klopp already has? ?.

5.) 28 Jul 2022 22:37:30
Now Divock has gone, who could you want to see more coming off the bench than our Bobby?

6.) 28 Jul 2022 23:52:27
I’d like to see Bobby playing off Nunez at some point this season. Something different for opposing teams.

7.) 29 Jul 2022 09:39:29
If the club are looking at giving Bobby a new deal then I believe it’s 99.9% put any reports of him leaving to bed.

Bobby appears to love the club and as long as he’s happy with the wages and length of contract then I have no doubts he’ll sign it.

8.) 29 Jul 2022 12:27:10
Would it wise to give Bobby a 3 year contract. He would then be free to leave at the same time as Mo assuming both see out their contracts.

9.) 29 Jul 2022 18:57:04
3 more years with bobby as backup. you lot have seriously lost the plot. Let him run his last year out. He's done.

10.) 29 Jul 2022 19:09:30
It seems Klopp thinks differently. He'll be here for next season for sure, but after that who knows?
Apart from Klopp and Bobby himself.

11.) 30 Jul 2022 08:02:51
I bet Bobby gets another 2 year contract.

12.) 30 Jul 2022 14:51:46
2 year contract seems more realistic if that is what transpires.

20 Jul 2022 06:58:08
Morning ed2, hope you are well? More rumours circulating about us being in talks for Antony this morning. Do you see this one happening and has anything changed recently. Thanks.

MartyMcFly1

{Ed002's Note - Antony (RW/LW) Bayern Munich have declared an interest in giving Ajax a profit on the player but Ajax are not looking to sell and there is a dependency on a Bayern Munich player leaving - it means he might be available at a premium but Bayern look a less likely option. Real Madrid see him as an option but not top of their list and interest will wane. Chelsea see him as as an option as they look to resolve issues with their wide players and they might offer an option. Manchester City see him as a possible Mahrez replacement and Manchester United as a potential Mason Greenwood replacement, and with ten Hag joining they are the most likely destination I would think. Barcelona interest has gone having added Raphinha and re-signing Dembele. Interest of Spurs and Milan has gone. Ajax will look to extend his contract or look for a very significant return. Liverpool have no declared interest with the club but have spoken with his representatives and have previously scouted him as a potential a Salah replacement - but that situation has been resolved. Ajax are unhappy that he is being hawked around by his representatives but accept he will leave - and they will look to a significant fee.}

1.) 20 Jul 2022 09:39:06
Ed's do you think that the 2 year extension of Mo's contract was to protect his value and compromise, but with an eye on an eventual sale that suits all parties, or do you really believe that Mo wants to end his career in L4?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool wanted to keep him at the club and to do that needed to extend his contract. The player was, eventually, happy to sign.}

2.) 20 Jul 2022 10:43:40
As he can play both wings he would be a great option to have and we don't really have much back up on the right to Salah but it's never going to happen at 60m plus maybe any option next summer if Bobby goes and Jota isn't used out wide.

3.) 20 Jul 2022 15:31:18
Hi Ed,

Appreciate if you can share your thoughts on Josko Gvardiol of RB Leipzig. Is he also on the LFC watchlist for this summer?

Thank you and have a nice day.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks. Josko Gvardiol (CB) Opted to join RBL to replace Konate over Leeds last summer. Leeds and Newcastle have asked after him. RBL say he is not for sale and the player says he wants to stay for now. My understanding is that there has not been an approach from Chelsea but he has been watched by scouts and he is not too far down the lengthy list of CBs the club are considering. Spurs and Marseille have also sent scouts to watch the player and Spurs have asked about availability but have seemingly turned to another. Arsenal has him on a list of possible targets if Saliba or Gabriel were able to find an escape route. Manchester City have him on a list of options and Inter have a far preferred option even after losing out on their first choice.}

17 Jul 2022 07:45:41
Any real interest in onana eds? Thanks.

MartyMcFly1

{Ed002's Note - Amadou Onana (DM) Lille turned down an approach from Roma who are looking to replace Amadou Diawara. His agent has been offering the player around and has certainly approached Arsenal, West Ham and Spurs in London and Liverpool who had previously scouted the player. West Ham have declared an interest and had an offer rejected.}

1.) 17 Jul 2022 13:03:39
Thanks Ed. Appreciate it.

2.) 17 Jul 2022 13:40:33
Ed02. if we were to sign someone else in this transfer window do you think it would be a midfielder and would you say it will be out of Sangare, Otavio and Onana? Or is someone else on the radar? Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp has already said no.}

3.) 17 Jul 2022 13:42:08
Would love this lad said a while back he’s going to be an absolute monster.

4.) 17 Jul 2022 16:12:22
“Onana what’s your name, Onana what’s your name” ?.

5.) 17 Jul 2022 16:44:10
I remember that sailor Jerry. I think ed2 knows more than he's saying here. I think we will sign someone.

6.) 17 Jul 2022 22:05:44
Hope so mate got some quality young lads, I was worried about us not preparing for the older lads to leave and we’re doing great with it so far.

Fat Frank a goner ed25? Praying not! Love him ?.

MartyMcFly1

{Ed025's Note - wrong club wrong time marty..

1.) 22 Jan 2023 03:18:10
Any club in the Premier League is the wrong club for Lampard.

2.) 22 Jan 2023 06:42:24
Everton has been the wrong club for the last 6 managers.

{Ed025's Note - very true thunderbird, bad choices and meddling from an inept owner and board has come home to roost mate..

3.) 22 Jan 2023 08:56:36
Who is the owner of everton? Is that usmanov that they reporting about r is that nonsense.

{Ed001's Note - Moshiri is just Usmanov's accountant, the money was Usmanov's.}

4.) 22 Jan 2023 09:11:05
Usmanov can't be seen as owner due to links to putin, am I right in that or completely off?

{Ed001's Note - it was nothing to do with that. When he bought Everton he also had a large stake in Arsenal, so he had to have a front as it was not legal for one person to own two Premier League clubs.}

5.) 22 Jan 2023 10:30:18
Cheers for the info ed1,thought I was possibly adding 2+2 and getting 5.
Good to see lfc tightening up at the back, last 2 games 2 clean sheets after the debacle against Brighton we definitely needed to go back to the v basics. Neither game was good to watch but I think that maybe more beneficial in long run than winning 4-3.

{Ed001's Note - no, it was defo true.}

21 Jan 2023 19:22:04
Hi eds, is there a reason my posts are not going through? Apologies if I have somehow offended anyone. I know I called someone an idiot so apologies but just sick of people slagging Klopp etc. All the best.

MartyMcFly1

{Ed014's Note - don’t know Marty, maybe you were given a short break but can’t see anything to say that in the last week.

1.) 21 Jan 2023 19:30:17
It's cool ed14. they all went up at at same time. Appreciate the reply.

{Ed014's Note - ??

2.) 21 Jan 2023 20:02:00
I think there was a bit of logjam earlier this afternoon.

25 Dec 2022 09:21:10
Happy Christmas to all you filthy animals! Thank you to all the eds, special mentions to ed1, ed25 and ed14, all fountains of knowledge and all round nice guys. I don't post anymore but still read multiple times daily. Have a great day all xxx.

MartyMcFly1

{Ed001's Note - take care MM and have a great Christmas in whichever year you find yourself in!}

24 Oct 2022 19:37:22
Just wanted to say a big thank you to the eds, ed1, ed25, ed14 especially. I'm done with posting for a while. I've had enough of the negative bile on here at the moment. It's depressing and not needed, so for now I'm done. Thanks eds, appreciate what you do. Most posters are sound but a few sadly ruining it for everyone. Peace. YNWA.

MartyMcFly1

{Ed014's Note - always welcome and the negativity on here is even driving me a little crazy.

Take care Marty and hopefully you’ll be back soon.

1.) 24 Oct 2022 20:30:42
Take care Marty… the negativity is hard to ignore after a while!

2.) 24 Oct 2022 21:49:23
Marty although I don’t post as much as you I am too stepping away from this site, the negativity when we lose a game is not right and calling for Klopp’s head, Elliot is a mid table player and now Jones too true Liverpool fans/ supporters wouldn’t be like that, as soon as we lose, posters turn up who never do when we win, I too thank the Ed’s for all their hard work.

3.) 24 Oct 2022 23:20:40
The thing is we have to call a spade a spade, what we are witnessing is alarming in the space of 5 months we look like we are shot. Klopp is not beyond criticism and some senior players are not showing the leadership required so deserve a rollicking.

4.) 25 Oct 2022 00:05:44
Five months?
So you're including the off season as part of our decline?
It's funny how selective people can be when talking about our decline.
Why not go back a few months more to when we won two trophies and finished second in the the League and the CL?

5.) 25 Oct 2022 00:22:07
Agree with that hailstones but some of the things said on here is truly mind-boggling too. A few weeks back, Gomez was incredible and should be getting an England call-up. Now, he's never been good enough and should have been sold in the summer. The same happens for our other players too.

True, our players and managers should not be above criticism. But when it fluctuates between the two spectrums like that, it seems like it is more of a knee jerk reaction than honest constructive criticism.

6.) 25 Oct 2022 04:57:25
I agree totally on Gomez, what did people expect he was always going to take time after his horrible injury. Gomez has has more good games than bad since returning, but was never going to be consistent straight away.

7.) 25 Oct 2022 06:03:56
the thing with the criticism is that it just sounds like a bunch of irrational moaning. Ya'll can butter it up and call it constructive, or spade a spade or whatever other nonsense. It's not analytical or constructive, just moaning. I think by now what you should really be advocating for is for Klopp to walk, ya might as well save ya breathe and just come out with it.

8.) 25 Oct 2022 06:23:57
No one wants Klopp to leave. But a change of attitude is needed in the management and squad this season. The poor attitude this season has costs us at least 10 points no one can think that’s acceptable in any job. Once no problem, twice ok, 3 times small issue but it’s every other game.

9.) 25 Oct 2022 06:30:36
Marty you’re a good poster on the site. Take care and hope to see you back posting soon.

10.) 25 Oct 2022 06:52:36
For the life of me I can't understand why posters take it so thick? Its a football banter site after all, nothing else and in the grand scheme of things, in life it really doesn't matter ?‍♂️
Take it as such and we should be fine. Enjoy your day guys.

11.) 25 Oct 2022 08:40:15
Marty when you do return to this realm, stop off in 1981 grab souness and rush, a quick trip to 1987 and till digger his needed in the future.

12.) 25 Oct 2022 08:50:11
It's supposed to be a banter site, it's more like a special needs one at the moment with the melodramatics predicting doom, gloom and the general end of the world as we know it.

13.) 24 Oct 2022 19:54:05
Cheers ed14. appreciated. Take mate.

14.) 25 Oct 2022 10:11:23
What change of attitude are you talking about, Mark?

15.) 25 Oct 2022 10:28:37
Take care, Marty. I wish you all the best and hope you come back soon. Peace and Love to you and yours, mate.

16.) 25 Oct 2022 12:07:29
Oh sorry to see you go. One of my favourite posters after Harry. Hopefully you come back after the next game with a win under our belts. Xx.

17.) 25 Oct 2022 12:47:07
The type of will to win and desire that was missing v Fulham, Napoli, Forest etc. we don’t and can’t expect us to play well every week but surely we can expect the players to give their absolute all on the pitch and not just pick and choose when they want to turn up. Conceding the first goal in the vast majority of matches must be a concern to everyone.

18.) 25 Oct 2022 16:03:17
So when we lose it's because we were not trying hard enough?
Maybe we were just not good enough or the other team just tried harder.

19.) 25 Oct 2022 16:29:37
We certainly haven’t matched some teams for effort this season Klopp has has said so in some post match interviews. Like v Fulham and Napoli. But it could be we are not good enough, time will tell on that.

01 Sep 2022 09:36:12
Arthur Melo having medical, loan with option to buy apparently.

MartyMcFly1

1.) 01 Sep 2022 10:12:37
He already has a song call me "Yellow Melo"-Donovan

Also has a twin footballing brother named "Ar Fa Melon".

Could be a bit of a "Melo-ncholy" signing.
