Ed 2, on the deal for Nunez and whatever fee we end up paying[if/ when signed] . would you say its a big gamble on liverpools part? From what I've seen, he's good, but not near the finished article. Probably an inflated price due to it being an English side making the purchase .

Is it a good deal in your eyes, if it did happen?

Man on the moon

{Ed002's Note - It will certainly be a gamble as it is a big step up and a great deal of money. But he is very well thought of with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Inter, Milan and Atletico all declaring an interest. Obviously most have backed away because of the overall costs (like Inter Milan and Barcelona) or because they have preferred targets (like Manchester City, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund). Atletico had a bid rejected because Benfica did not want a player included in the deal. So if Liverpool can bring the funds required to the table and agree a fee with Benfica, expectations will be very high. It has the potential to be very successful, assuming he can settle easily.}

1.) 10 Jun 2022 13:44:48
Sure what player isn’t a gamble?

2.) 10 Jun 2022 13:49:47
I think any player would be a gamble with that kind of fee and very little to show other than one decent season outside of the Prem league. I hope, if he does come will fit in like Diaz has and score boat loads but yes very much a gamble!

3.) 10 Jun 2022 14:00:27
If happens it is a further show of faith in Klopp and desire to deliver trophies and keep us competing - which in turn keeps the club value high of course :)

#FSGout - numpties.

4.) 10 Jun 2022 15:14:23
If almost all big clubs in europe is interested in him, then they must have seen something in him that we as football fans do not see. At least the fans who don't rate him.

5.) 10 Jun 2022 16:13:33
If all of those clubs want him or have had some interest in the past, then you know the guy is a genuine talent.

6.) 10 Jun 2022 16:48:07
And a real statement of intent if we get him and that the player chooses us over them. 3 CL finals in 5 years must be a big pull but let’s be honest it’s mainly Klopp!

7.) 10 Jun 2022 16:57:35
The risk is he cannot settle in England culturally and weather wise its not Portugal or Spain. However he will have a resale market due to his age. If the club can't get Mbappe, Haaland or Lewa, Darwin is the best option other than a Lautaro, Kane or at a stretch Isak, Adeyemi, Gouiri etc.

8.) 10 Jun 2022 17:25:02
Not sure if you know this but Liverpool have got and have had Spanish players and believe me when I say culturally, weather wise and language has never been a problem to any of them oh and I’m sure Liverpool can’t get Mbappe, Haarland or Lewa, hence them trying to get Nunez.

9.) 10 Jun 2022 19:16:33
Exactly right sid19, If Nunez arrives he would be on 125 000 € a week. Of the 3 names you mentioned Haaland earns the least with 400 000 € a week. All about the wages!

10.) 10 Jun 2022 20:25:30
Other players settling has no effect on Nunez settling. There is no guarantee he settles because other 'Spanish' players have settled. He has played in Spain and Portugal both south american like leagues. You must be living in utopia if you think its risk free signing.

11.) 11 Jun 2022 00:38:17
@Jay - Naby Keita? ?.

12.) 11 Jun 2022 09:16:40
It's not risk free, no transfer is.

But because of his age, the modest wages (as reported) and because practically every club in Europe would take him in a heartbeat if they could, we are unlikely to make a big loss if he doesn't settle and has to be moved on.

13 Jun 2017 14:02:40
Any truth in the rumours that representative from Barcelona have met with liverpool over the weekend to discuss coutinho? Have any if the eds or other people know anything about it? Hope it's bull 😣.

Man on the moon

1.) 13 Jun 2017 15:20:12
Coutinho on recent international duty said it's complicated.

Not sure what it means but he has never said he will stay or he will go.

He is keeping it open ended.

2.) 13 Jun 2017 15:43:39
That's what most people say when they're not sure about their relationships!

I wonder if we could get Barcelona investigated for tapping up our player.

3.) 13 Jun 2017 16:54:57
Looks like Messi's contract is holding up other potential signings at Barca.

They can't manage too much transfer fees and wages. Hence they would need to offload significantly before firming up on their targets.

Cheers.

4.) 13 Jun 2017 16:56:16
Is it complicated because we are about to get a ban.

{Ed025's Note - you are jumping the gun a bit there jordz..

5.) 13 Jun 2017 18:00:04
No - it'a complicated because Barcelona need to raise the money first.

6.) 13 Jun 2017 18:46:03
Didn't Phil say he was more than happy and something like if you stay at Liverpool you can become a legend and have a statue built in your honour. If you go to Barcelona or Madrid you can become just another player.

7.) 14 Jun 2017 02:33:06
His Brazilian mates and his agent trying to talk him onto going to Barcelona but his wife and kids are settled here. He is happy here. If he was to go, he wouldn't be just another player he'd be a legend. Balon dor. If he stays we an.

15 Jan 2016 14:10:34
Es 2 please 👍🏻

I was reading through the Barcelona page and see this:

Coutinho - a possible option for the summer. Says he wants out if Liverpool don't get to the Champions League.

I was wondering if real/ athletico may also be interested in coutinho? With their bans looming, is a Jan offer a possibility?

Not heard of any interest and it's just a thought, as you are the all seeing eye when it comes to these kind of things - a little insight would be appreciated.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Man on the moon

{Ed002's Note - As you would expect, they have zero interest in him.}

31 Jul 2015 13:45:06
Eds, iv read today in some papers and online that liverpool have a 15mil bid in for cheryshev! Surely this is crap?

giving the 20mil markovic a chance would be the better option. Crazy transfer policy at lfc at the min. Nothing makes since lol

Man on the moon

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid have had a few approaches from clubs interested in taking winger Denis Cheryshev on loan or permanently this summer with Kuban Krasnodar and Real Sociedad both requesting a price. Previous interest from Everton went with David Moyes. Zenit and Metalist Kharkiv dropped whatever interest they had. As for Liverpool, I am certain there has been no bid at this time. Villareal and CSKA Moscow are showing an interest in the player but I suspect he will stay where he is.}

22 May 2015 13:00:40
Eds

Would an approach for andrea gomes be out of the question if sterling wer to move on. And would /do liverpool hold any interest? I read he has a 37ish mil release clause and has said he wasn't interested in a move to united before.

Iv tried the search but its just bringing up old info. I asked about the player pre world cup last year. But he wasn't on many peoples radar then.

Thanks

Man on the moon

{Ed002's Note - Gomes will not be moving to Liverpool this summer. The "release clause" is of no relevance to Liverpool in any case.}

1.) 22 May 2015 18:01:44
Anyone have interest in him? He looks a quality player.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, but not Liverpool and he is unlikely to move.}

Ed1 please

Just for fun.

You said a few seasons ago that signing allison would be a big improvement for us and its a signing you would have liked at the time, seemingly unlikley then also. but we did it and its proved a great fit for all.

Taking that example. what 2 players would you like us to sign to push us on again. what positions do you feel we need more from.

I know moneys going to be tight this season and possibly next also, with previous outgoing and the way the games behind closed doors currently.

If we are to spend. where and who. realisticly obviously lol not the mbape nailed on bull we hear in the papers.

Man on the moon

{Ed001's Note - the problem is we don't need a lot. Our biggest need is left back and centre-back cover, so I would take Malang Sarr on a free as he can play both positions. Young, quick and always looked good when I saw him. Being able to cover both needs I think he would get plenty of football too.

We have missed out on the other one I would like, Havertz. So maybe Auoar would be my other choice.}

1.) 28 Jul 2020 17:23:31
Unfortunately Ed001 your history in wanting a player in hardly ever works out apart from the one exception mate.

{Ed001's Note - I know :-(

2.) 28 Jul 2020 18:08:31
Don't lose hope on signing Gary Medel yet, Barry.

Any chance of us looking at Jamal Lewis, Ed? Why break our 5 year habit of signing a relegated player?

{Ed001's Note - I have not heard of any interest, though either of their full-backs would be good.}

3.) 28 Jul 2020 18:31:48
I know ed01 really wants us to sign Jack grealish? That's true isn't it Ed. True eh? Please say it man.

{Ed001's Note - I can't even bring myself to type that sorry. Much as I want to so we don't sign him.}

4.) 28 Jul 2020 18:51:00
Lol. He's so over rated. That said there is a player there I think. Not a world class player like the pundits seem to think, but he can at least play. I keep saying it, but I really expect arsenal to go for him as an ozil replacement. He's not good enough for us, city, utd or Chelsea but surely too big for villa now. Maybe spurs but Jose isn't stupid. Arsenal need some creativity in that midfield.

5.) 28 Jul 2020 18:53:41
Thanks for the reply Ed. I think Lewis would be a great signing for us. I can only see the point in looking at Aarons if Trent was moving into midfield, because as it stands we already have two very good right backs.

6.) 28 Jul 2020 19:03:23
I quite like Godfrey.

{Ed025's Note - the one from dads army?.. :)

7.) 28 Jul 2020 21:17:02
Don't panic Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - love it barry.. :)

8.) 29 Jul 2020 10:18:57
Ed01 are interested in Malang Sarr?

{Ed001's Note - not that I know of.}

23 Jan 2020 14:32:25
Ed 1

Who would you like us to sign in the summer to kick on again and cement our place as the top english side for a yesr or 2 yet.
I ask as, i remember you saying the dream was allison and an dijk.

Man on the moon

{Ed001's Note - Saul Niguez is the only player I can think of off the top of my head.}

1.) 23 Jan 2020 15:16:07
Ed001 not Kante, Mbappe or De Bruyne?

{Ed001's Note - Mbappe I would love but I am not sure he is what we need to make a step up. I was just thinking purely about what we need and I think we need a replacement for Keita and cover at left-back. I just couldn't think of anyone for left back.}

2.) 23 Jan 2020 15:43:49
Agree with Niguez. Is there any chance Ed?

{Ed001's Note - he could be bought if we went for him, can't see it happening though.}

3.) 23 Jan 2020 15:55:05
Allison agreed his number one pick.

VVD wasn't ed's dream by any stretch.

4.) 23 Jan 2020 16:57:58
Replacement for Nabby Ed? It hasn't worked out really has it mate?

{Ed001's Note - it is a waste of time paying him wages to sit on the sidelines, no matter how much potential is there.}

5.) 23 Jan 2020 17:00:17
Isn't Niguez quite defensive, or is it just the way Athletico play? Could he play the more attacking midfielder role and get goals and assists?

Mbappe for me, he will be the best attacking player in the world within a couple of seasons. Fantasy football though.

As for left back cover would be great if we could find a cb, or midfielder who can also cover lb. Like Fabs who can cover various positions, rb, cb etc.

{Ed001's Note - he was an attacking midfielder but Simeone used him defensively.}

6.) 23 Jan 2020 17:12:56
Will JK give him one more season or would guess that his replacement has already been sorted?

7.) 23 Jan 2020 17:19:22
Good info thanks

Still got my fingers for Nabby.

8.) 23 Jan 2020 19:35:25
crossed that is
doh.

Ed2

Any chance of an update like the one you provided in june? I know a lot has changed etc and as we have heard from your selves. players unwilling to sign without guarantee of game time etc.
I do believe something will happen yet, maybe 2 players. Still plenty of time to do some business.

Either way, thanks in advance. Always a great read.

Man on the moon

{Ed002's Note - I will be back in England at the end of the week I think.}

19 Apr 2018 18:26:56
Ed2, any chance of a player run down similar to the one you provided on the United page? Time permitting of course.

Thanks and keep up the great work eds and reds.

Man on the moon

{Ed002's Note - I thought you had already had the quicky version?}

1.) 20 Apr 2018 06:46:24
I must of missed it. Any single words I can search to bring it up? Ed 2 and summer etc all bring up loads haha.

{Ed002's Note - There will be an update when I get some time.}

Any idea on what value Edwards would command Ed? Never seen him olay but watched a few videos. Does look a good tricky attacking player. As for the sane signing. I think he would do well with us. Always seemed a little moody or like he had a chip on his shoulder. Maybe I'm wrong.

Man on the moon

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to get in to the money but €60M.}

Hypothetically ed2. if Mo was to be sold and you had a say in a replacement. who would you think would be a good fit? His numbers and performance over his time with us has been exceptional. A great player for the team, an all time great. Personally I would be sad to see him go, but at the same time what better way than to walk away handing us an amazing amount of cash to reinvest.
200 mil would go a long way to improve the squad again. Lcb, rw, cdm and maybe a rb to push trent.

Man on the moon

{Ed002's Note - As I have said before I think Marcus Edwards of Sporting Lisbon would be a very good option to replace him but I still suspect Klopp will want to look to another.}

Morning ed2, hope your well.

Would Watford have any interest in Divok? Maybe something could be done? Personally i like Sarr, i thibk his potential would be a better investment and seems like a better impact player than Origi (althoughje has done well, excluding a dip last season) .
If we could shift the players no longer seen in klopps plans i think the squad has a good versatility to it. Still probably missing a box to box type player, but jones needs time to develop.

I think as a squad liverpool have a good collection of talent on their hands. A drop off from the first 11 is expected. People just need to relax and take what comes our way. The C.V.s been tough on a lot of clubs and we have had a good run with klopp at the club. When we look back, the club has definitely improved massively in results and even the quality of talent we are attracting in that time. long may it continue.

Thabks again ed2 and the rest 👍 best football site on the internet 👏.

Man on the moon

{Ed002's Note - Watford have no interest in Origi.}

Surely playing for Barcelonas great team a few years ago he has the pressing side of the game in his locker. They won the ball back bery quickly after losing it.

I doubt if Madrid will pack the box like Manchester united. That plays into our hands and on the counter we play our best football.
I think this game will be a goal scoring dream. I can see it being 3-4 4-5 etc something mad.

Just hope we can come out on top with number 6 💪💪.
