Good Morning from Canada Ed's. Not to just throw out random names, but could Liverpool look to the likes of Aymeric Leporte at CB?
I don't watch a lot of La Liga however I am curious why he hasn't made the move to a side bigger than Bilbao.

Thanks again Ed's for your time, always appreciated.

Lock96

{Ed002's Note - Good afternoon from Paris Lock. Aymeric Laporte is very happy where he is and Basque clubs like to keep their players - albeit he is an honorary Basque. Prior to an injury a move to Manchester City was agreed, and even though they remained interested once he recovered he was not so keen on the move. However, there have no been discussions with another side but no agreement just yet - but it is possible he could even move in January. Liverpool has shown no interest in Aymeric Laporte.}

Thanks again ED! Of the little I have seen of him, I liked what I saw! Cheers!

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome - have agood day.}

Good luck to Ejaria with the black cats and Wilson at Hull!

I personally don’t see why we can’t just wait a few months for a player who’s already due to be coming. I think the Keita hysteria is a bit over the top. I think he’s the sort of player who needs to learn he can’t always get his own way and can’t push his Club around. It’ll do the boy good to get his head down and wait.

12 Jan 2018 17:13:16
IMO I still believe we will sign Lemar. a lot of distractions happening with rumours of other players and such, maybe we wait and then go and sign Lemar while everyone is fighting over AG who will want to play for Barce.
Monaco may ease up a bit on price and stance in keeping the lad til Summer.

Good Morning from Canada!
IMO I think if it is Lemar whom we are targeting that we pay and get the deal done this window. Money talks and I believe Monaco will sell if the price is right.
Although cup tied, unable to contribute in this years CL I think he will be crucial in helping us secure a top 4 spot for CL next year.
My concerns with waiting until the summer are as follows and this is assuming he is our main target:
1. He's 22 and will be playing for France in the world cup. A successful world cup for him and France will undoubtedly raise his value and asking price. With the dept in the current France squad, I can see them being a fav to win.
2. Competition from the likes of Arsenal and possibly others will also drive the price up and while Arsenal are trying to decide if they can replace Sanchez with him, use the funds we have and just scoop him up under their nose.
3. Inflated transfer fees continue to reinvent the market. It is pretty wild that the shock price United paid for Pogba now seems almost a bargain, a short period later. Thus who is to say Lemar's price tag will be even higher come the summer.
4. If we do not secure a top 4 spot in the past it seems we have had trouble luring players to Liverpool without CL football, or at least consistent CL football year after year. That being said, if we don't secure a top 4 (or win the CL this year-which is a stretch), who is to say Lemar or other targets will even want to come and will chose a team elsewhere with regular CL opportunities.
Just some thoughts on the matter and I hope we just go for it and buy whom Klopp targets in this window and move forward.
Thats my rant lol.

Cheers

YNWA.

{Ed025's Note - nice rant though lock..

1.) 10 Jan 2018 15:56:02
If it's Lemar we're after then in total agreement with u mate get him in there now if it can be done, his stock is only going to increase esp with France and the world cup which I expect the french to do well in, if not have an outside chance of winning it so get it done FSG if it's who Klopp wants.

2.) 10 Jan 2018 15:58:12
Interesting rant mate.
He could actually have a stinker of a World Cup and see his price and confidence plummet.
I get your point but I’m not sure he’s worth the money they’re asking. I think there’s better value out there.

3.) 10 Jan 2018 16:27:21
Who in your opinion would you like to see come in ron?
My choice would be insigne but that is never going to happen.

4.) 10 Jan 2018 16:28:01
Thanks lads. 100% Ron, but honestly i highly doubt he's going to have a stinker. He's looked dynamite in qualifying with France and with that lineup accompanying him, others will make him look like a star! France is likely my favorite to win it this year, they could likely put in two teams. Time will tell but that doesn't just go for Lemar it also goes for whom ever our targets are.
Best example I can think of having his value shot up after a world cup was James Rodriguez. wonderful world cup, sort of fallen off of form compared to that tourney, albeit still a wonderful player.
I just think whoever the target is, I think it just needs to be done and move forward, give us our best chance to secure top 4. And if it is deemed that we want to wait until the summer and risk it, so be it, but if that plan fails, good luck luring quality to Europa League, same issue with the Suarez sale the year after. I surely hope history doesn't repeat itself.

5.) 10 Jan 2018 16:28:52
Thanks Ed25! Just my take on things anyway.

6.) 10 Jan 2018 17:06:53
Brandt and pulisic are cheaper, i suspect fekir is too but we are not in for him. I would go for brandt if he could be persuaded to move before the world cup. Otherwise wait for pulisic in the summer as top choice and again try and convince him and his parents its the right move for him.

7.) 10 Jan 2018 18:30:08
How is Pulisic cheaper if he does not want to move? You re just making this stuff up.

8.) 10 Jan 2018 19:20:47
Pulisic will NOT be cheap by any stretch esp. if he is not interested in moving. As for Lemar, no one knows what type of WC he will have so speculation is all we are left with.

I agree with Ed1 in that if a player doesn't want to be wth LIverpoool let him go. At the same time I see why we wouldn't sell. From an ownership perspective I know there's been criticism on here regarding FSG and not wanting to spend money etc etc. I'm actually from a city just outside Toronto (home of the blue Jays), whom are in the same division as FSG's Boston Red Sox, a team wth so much history much like Liverpool, whom play in Fenway park, one of the most iconic stadiums in the world, like Anfield, and honestly, FSG are winners. They've won multiple World Series Championships since taking over, they spend money every year and improve and grow their team, and are always a threat to win a championship. This is a direct reflection on the ownership and the desire to win and I'm telling you FSG didn't buy Liverpool to be the Tampa Bay Rays of world football (if you will), they want to win and build a contagious culture of winning as they did in Boston, a team that once had the longest drought of a world championship in MLB and have now won multiple times since their first in the 2000's. Henry and FSG know how to win and how to build this culture and sustain rather than be a flash in the pan. They aren't experienced in football no but winning is winning, and I applaud the direction they are taking with Liverpool personally. Mistakes have been made by their subordinates as far as transfers go, however we will continue to see the culture build once again at Liverpool and be a consistent player in the CL and on the world stage. It began a few years ago and will continue to grow. Up the reds! YNWA.

1.) 26 Aug 2017 07:09:52
FSG have invested plenty of money into the squad.

But we continued to be wasteful in the transfer market under previous managers.

2.) 26 Aug 2017 07:48:02
Dry good post mate. Nice to see some positivity for a change.

3.) 26 Aug 2017 07:50:45
Fsg have been owners of LFC for 7 years? It is our most unsuccesful period for winning trophies in a long time. Meanwhile other owners, have taken clubs from nowhere to be PL champions. Make of that as you will.

4.) 26 Aug 2017 08:11:17
Net spend on players since 2013 is 107 mill. But it's not Fsg as they said we could rival any team in the world for players. We are lead to believe that both Rodgers and Klopp just refuse to spend this money and prefer to balance the books every season as managers 🤔.

{Ed002's Note - Posts such as these are embarrassing and show how far down the food chain many of the Liverpool fans like are. FSG have put very large sums of money in to the club and have had to take on debt when the club was losing £1M per week for years. Net spend on players is completely irrelevant. Who was paying the wages, who paid theperhaps £80-90M in agent fees in that time? Who pays the matchday costs? Who pays for the stadium? Who pays the taxes? You clearly don't understand anything about the running of a football club at all. And you have just provided another example of why we try to avoid discussing money.}

5.) 26 Aug 2017 08:14:54
By your rationale Irish, you would prefer Moore to return, or Hicks and Gillette?!?!
Eds keep reminding us that FSG don't buy the players.

6.) 26 Aug 2017 08:17:17
Irish, that is part of the issue. In the last 7 years more clubs have had more money making it ever harder to win it. Yes Leicester did but I doubt that will be happening again any time soon. We won a couple of trophies under hicks and gillet- does that make them better owners?

7.) 26 Aug 2017 08:23:18
I'm a huge Boston red sox fan, I went to fenway every summer as a kid. I was buzzin when I heard fsg was buying liverpool, what they have done for the red sox recently is unbelievable and they will do the same with liverpool.

8.) 26 Aug 2017 08:32:24
Great original post and as I have lived in the U. S for 14 years (just moved to Brussels this summer), the OP is absolutely correct in his analysis of FSG as the owners of the Red Sox. They may not know a lot about football and have hired people who don't seem up to the job BUT make no mistake about it, they have no problems winning and no problems spending money as we have seen both at the Red Sox and at LFC.

Jayden, none of what yo posted is true and I'm afraid that you are falling for pathetic conspiracy theories going around on the web by deluded people who call themselves LFC "fans" BUT have no clue what they are talking about. Ed02 has informed us multiple times on how FSG run LFC (at least an overview) . I propose you ask the Ed's to educate you on it as they did many of us here before posting conspiracy theories.

9.) 26 Aug 2017 08:56:00
Actually, FSG were happy to back Klopp all the way this summer. It's other factors that prevented those players signing.

10.) 26 Aug 2017 10:05:53
FSG have made the mistake of hiring people to run the club who either don't understand football, don't understand the club or both.

They've had 1 clearout after the Suarez racism debacle. It seems they need another.
How do Chelsea with no european football sign Kante for £30m without a peep from Leicester or the player? I'm sure LC didn't want to sell their best player, but Chelsea got the deal done quietly for a bargain price.

There is much wrong with LFC at the moment:
-Player recruitment and release is appalling. We can't secure our top targets for outrageous prices and the whole world knows about it. We embarrass ourselves and upset other clubs and players. This extends from first team players right down to academy players. We don't seem to be able to scout players anymore, relying on poaching them from premier league teams or we buy players who are not ready and then don't develop them. We ask too much for unwanted players stifling their careers. We don't use the loan system well.

This one aspect that is far more important than net spend and transfer funds. Someone senior at LFC needs to pull their head out of the sand and start looking at how business is conducted in modern day football and learn from the clubs who have stolen a march on us. We need to be honest with ourselves and not say "We are LFC" instead.

11.) 26 Aug 2017 10:18:49
If people are going to start owner bashing, they need to look back a lot further than FSG, then ask the question, why have Man United overtaken LFC over the last 25 years?

We were held back for years and then we all know what happened when we were sold to Gillet and Hicks.

12.) 26 Aug 2017 14:10:52
The only problem I have with FSG is they are mostly running the club from the U. S. and trusting the staff they have hired for the club. Besides that they have done fantastic for the club considering the state it was left after H&G. They have even expanded the stadium and want to expand it even more. That costs a pretty penny on it’s own let alone everything else they have had to do financially for the club. Too many people just look at how much we spend and receive in the transfer market and assume they are cheap skates.
And this is where this site comes into play, without this site everybody would be on Twitter with #FSGOUT every second of the day.

13.) 26 Aug 2017 15:14:41
My only problem with FSG is that they are intelligent businessmen who have had a few years to learn from their mistakes transfer wise but don't seem to have any idea on how to improve/ learn from it. All the new 'top people' are from backgrounds of making money.

Its still just a business to them and not a passion. Obviously the Red SOX WAS A PASSION. I totally understand they expect returns on their investment but I just think they must have asked the wrong people for advice.

14 Aug 2017 14:36:46
I asked a week ago there if we had any interest in Jean Micheal Seri and to be honest, I'm just a fan of the player, however now I hear Liverpool have made contact with Nice regarding the player. What comes of it who knows, but im in favor if true!

Lock96

1.) 14 Aug 2017 15:16:54
Makes sense tbh. Combative central midfield player with an eye for a pass. Probably end our end in Keita and I'd rather have Keita.
Still, Seri would be a decent replacement for Coutinho.

2.) 14 Aug 2017 15:53:08
Seri wouldn't be a replacement for Coutinho.

3.) 14 Aug 2017 16:05:04
Seri, Lanzini and VVD in? Reckon that would be decent. In all honesty we need someone who's versatile like ox/ Lanzini to come in a just boost our options we really don't have much depth and it's a concern. It's all well and good playing Woodburn and Kent in the champions league but I'd rather see good quality players there with experience against top teams. Hence why I think we should sign ox because he's played agasint top teams for the past 4 years at least.

4.) 14 Aug 2017 16:40:52
I hope it's true, my first ever post on this site was asking about him and a few other players. He is fantastic. Thing is though, when I asked. we never had any interest in him and it was only about two months ago.

5.) 14 Aug 2017 17:04:31
I believe the ed's mentioned he would be of interest as an alternative choice to Keita. I say push for Seri and sign Keita next Summer. Those two in CM would be ideal. All the while figure out who's going to be your other starter amongst hendo/ Can/ other. Maybe sell on someone (s) next summer.

6.) 14 Aug 2017 18:23:37
Some of us remember Jean Michel Ferri.

Houlliers first signing.

IMO I think we get Allisson done and the chain reaction begins. I personally think once Hazard leaves for Madrid, then you’ll see Courtois follow. What an amazing window that would be, add Fekir possibly even better.

Anyone that is driven wants to progress and grow in their career and lives, and coupled with Ed1's comments regarding his decisions/ suggestions/ input taking a backseat to others, maybe he just feels he needs to be number 1 to grow and progress and try it out elsewhere. No one wants to be number 2 their entire career, they eventually progress and grow to number 1. If he is given a chance elsewhere, good on him and wish him the best of luck! Well deserved.

If you were to compare the other top 5 teams in the PL and compare Henderson to players in their midfield. Would we stand out as #1 and title contenders? Look Henderson’s a class act, works hard give his all bad luck with injury, but I’ve said since he arrived we will not win trophies with Henderson in midfield. I’m sorry that’s reality. You can be other positions, lack of this too much of that and fair enough, but it’s not all on him but when top flight teams add players like De Bruyne to a midfield with David silva, or a Kante to fabregas, all, Erickson, we are delusional to think we compare. Just my opinion, but I thought the lads played exceptional on Sunday best I’ve seen in a long time, the passion desire was unmatched accompanied by the skill we know they all have and the confidence to use it with perfection. Couldn’t be prouder. YNWA.

I remember being linked Timo Horn and Karius and we ended up buying Karius. I was hoping and praying for Horn.
However let's see what a run of games does from the lad and evaluate the situation in the summer. or at least that seems to likely be the path we are taking.
