Sturridge to west Brom.

Liver pool 83

1.) 29 Jan 2018 14:20:42
Why would they need him? They have no issue scoring goals : (.

2.) 29 Jan 2018 14:52:29
*Scoring against us.

3.) 29 Jan 2018 14:56:27
He wants a move to win a trophy 😂🙈.

4.) 29 Jan 2018 15:25:28
Apparently West Brom were the only team willing to cover his full wage.

5.) 29 Jan 2018 16:03:29
losing Lallana to injury, losing Stu now, lost PC, are we really not going to get someone?

{Ed002's Note - Clubs don't replace players injured for a couple of weeks, nor fringe players who have played how many minutes this season. If Liverpool cannot bring in a player they want because it is January, would you like them to buy someone they don't want now and use up the available funds and wages or wait until they can get who they want in the summer and give a chance to the rest of the squad?}

6.) 29 Jan 2018 16:11:53
fair comment Ed002 but liverpool should never have let coutinho leave without having a replacement lined up, should have been told he could go in the summer.

{Ed002's Note - He didn't want to play for the club, he even refused to play. He wanted to move elsewhere. Why is this so difficult to grasp?}

7.) 29 Jan 2018 16:33:28
its not difficult at all, at one point saurez did not want to play for us but we kept him for another season because it was best for the club, answer me this would man utd, man city or chelsea sell their best player without having a repla
cement lined up. If every club let players leave when they wanted to, you may as well not bother with contracts anymore.

{Ed002's Note - Worked a treat. How many games was he banned for whilst at Liverpool (25 or so and then a further x month ban that was avoided by his sale). What did he cost the club in reputation? A great deal - dragging the name of the club through the gutter. And the cost in embarrassment of having a player threaten legal action and actively court other clubs? Add to that his keenness to get the club embroiled in a major racial issue with his disgusting abuse of another player. On three occasions, twice as a Liverpool player, he has bitten fellow professionals. He spent 18 months trying to get out of the club and was happy to join Arsenal. And what about how he cost Kenny Dalglish his job? A man who did so much for the club but so many of the supporters were happy to see discarded in favour of the vile little runt. He squats to piss and is a truly appalling excuse for a human being whichever way you look at it.}

8.) 29 Jan 2018 16:39:30
He should of gone last summer Jay. Then we may of been able to move for our now first choice replacement. It was a waste of time holding on to him for 6months given the now outcome.

9.) 29 Jan 2018 16:42:38
I think most of us understand he wanted to go ed, its the fact we didn't have things in place to replace him and the fear of finishing outside top 4 with our rivals all strengthening. Weve lost the last 2 games to the bottom 2 in the prem so I guess things don't quite sit right with us, can you see what I mean? Also if the player he wants is Lemar, there's a good chance he will be signed by another club by then.

{Ed002's Note - So the answer has to be to remove the real source of the problem. Cut the rotting bit of the apple out and get Klopp sacked.}

10.) 29 Jan 2018 16:44:42
Yeah he had to be moved on in jan but surely we should have had a replacement lined up Ed002? Especially if the management had known of this situation before the window had even opened. After the summer we should have identified a target and prepared for this then in my opinion.
I guess it’s not as easy as that and I’m sure the club will have tried that but Dortmund’s approach with Auba would have been what I wanted us to do (not signing on the dotted line until a replacement is in place)

{Ed002's Note - All I can say is I hope you all get your way and Liverpool drop out of the European places so you can tell the club that Liverpool are indeed a one man team and they were wrong not to listen. Then you can all feel satisfied and smug.}

11.) 29 Jan 2018 16:48:47
My word, what is it with fans who do not understand that it was Coutinho who pushed for the move? How difficult is that to understand? LFC did not want to sell Coutinho but unfortunately Coutinho made it clear he wanted to go.

Liverpool resisted last summer but unfortunately one cannot hang onto to a player who would have caused major uproar again if Liverpool did not allow him to go to Barcelona in this window.

And how many times do the EDS need to drill it into thick sculls that the club will only buy first choice players from now on i. e. only no 1 targets on and that there will be no panic buys in this window.

Get it? i. e. if the no 1 targets are not available or do not make sense financially in this window i. e. paying a very massive premium to bring Keita in earlier then the club will wait for the summer.

Lessons have been learned through the VVD deal. The club can no longer act like amateurs in the transfer market.

So please stop spitting the dummy out as it is unlikely any new additions will be arriving due to availability or ridiculous asking prices in the January window.

Moaners will have to keep their panties on until the summer.

12.) 29 Jan 2018 16:54:23
Really don't know how you do it Ed 002.its embarrassing the level of stupidity of fans. All want and no graft. Thanks for your hard work and patience eds.

{Ed002's Note - It can nbe tough but the court did make me do this as part of their care in the community programme for the less fortunate.}

13.) 29 Jan 2018 16:56:45
eD002 Why do you always .............

{Ed002's Note - You can take your business elsewhere.

14.) 29 Jan 2018 17:27:34
Would Man City, United, or Chelsea sell their best player without a replacement? We don't know because it generally doesn't happen. All three make more money than us, can pay more in wages, and partially due to those two are or have won things recently and therefore don't tend to have a lot of want away players (although one could argue Costa was pretty important for Chelsea and he still wanted out and they did sell him) . Until we're able to show we can compete nearer the top rather than for 5th/ 6th, this will continue. The best we can do is what we've been doing, the slow, annoying grind upwards. The glimmer of hope is that we could well bypass Arsenal this year in revenue. If we can pull off another season in the CL spaces at their expense, then that may continue and starts to set us on a decent path forward.

15.) 29 Jan 2018 18:33:16
This again. We lose a few games and just like that it's cause some player or other left. Cause we never lost a game with Phil. Won all round us and the quadruple last year. We'll keep a few clean sheets someday and Virgil will be hailed the best ever as if we've never done that before.
Ed god love ya.
Coutinho wanted out, he said the club did everything to keep him. Klopp clearly wants to up the quality of players that come into the club. Therefore there are very few potential replacements. And even less who would fit into the style we play. Add to that we have improved but are still a bit behind other clubs atm. Top players need to be convinced to join. It takes time and taking that time is the only way we will ever improve. Sure we could go take a punt on someone and they might turn out better than expected but generally top class players are wanted by the club's they are at and sitting on a very handsome wage to keep them there.

16.) 29 Jan 2018 19:23:15
Who are our first team targets? Don't say RTP because I have copious amounts of times and the players we've been linked to this window. are available at the right price.

{Ed001's Note - you are the one who believe Pulisic is attainable, so clearly you haven't a clue.}

17.) 29 Jan 2018 17:30:41
Ed im not wanting Klopp sacked mate I just want us to keep in the mix wt the top end. I guess we need to trust what the club are doing.

{Ed002's Note - Need to cut out the damaged bits then, right now it seems that is limited to the goalkeeping coach, Klopp and all of the players except Suarez - wait...}

18.) 29 Jan 2018 17:46:03
To be fair I don't think any fans "wants" Liverpool to drop out of the top 4 and if Coutinho wanted to go as we all knew in the Summer
(In fact before then) then more should have been done to find and get in an adequate replacement.

{Ed002's Note - If Liverpool end up a realistic third or fourth then they will look ridiculous. Almost as if Klopp knew more than them?}

19.) 29 Jan 2018 19:57:47
I get your point ed, and as per usual you are right mate to be fair. If we can get 3rd or 4th then bring in bew players in the Summer when we have a better chance of getting our targets.

20.) 29 Jan 2018 19:58:45
With Coutinho in the side, we *would* have finished top 4.
Without him, it's a maybe.
I don't know how much a would to a maybe is worth these days?

21.) 29 Jan 2018 19:52:14
Amazing that people are using ‘keeping suarez’ as a great blueprint for forcing a player to stay and getting the most out of him. So we knew he wanted to go for around 18 months and replaced him with Lambert and Balotelli. Brilliant blueprint that is. That alone is exactly why we should wait to get the right player. The only mistake with a Couts is we should have let him go in the summer.

22.) 29 Jan 2018 20:17:02
The fact that LFC were in a strong position over Coutinho and ended up basically buckling to the players demands is what doesn't sit well. I doubt Couthino would have sat on the sideline for the last 4 months of the season sulking given it's a world cup year and he has his sponsors to satisfy etc. Basically if we were going to sell him we may aswell have done this in the summer. Barcelona tried to screw us over by coming in with inadequate bids late in the window meaning we had no chance to negotiate a replacement in time. LFC should have stuck to their guns and made him stay til the summer. He may have caused issues in the dressing room or equally he may have played ball and got on with it like he did once the window closed in the summer. We all realise loyalty is a long gone commodity in football and it's not wise to keep a player beyond them wanting to leave but look at Arsenal, they haven't come out of the Sanchez saga too bad and he only had 5 months left on his deal. LFC have had their pants pulled down once again sorry to say!

23.) 29 Jan 2018 20:46:35
Are fans not allowed to disagree with editors on here? Must everyone trot out media cliches like 'top targets' and 'panic buys. '? Well, I'm not buying it. No team in the world gets their #1 targets all the time. Nor do #1 targets always turn out to be the best buys. You have to be flexible in the market - and switch targets quickly. As for this 'panic buy' rubbish - it doesn't apply to all purchases in January - or necessarily all risks taken in the market. Right now we have a converted AM and two non-scoring backup strikers. We are about to loan out our only natural goalscorer, who despite his fitness issues is still the most likely to score in a tight game with 10 minutes to go. It would be sensible for us to pick up a striker in the next two days - not necessarily a 'panic. '

As for Coutinho. We sold him at the very beginning of the window with no contingency in place. Either we are very stupid - or we had absolutely no intention of signing a replacement. Remember when we were all slightly bemused by the Ox signing late in the last window? Well, who's to say that FSG didn't sanction that purchase knowing that they would kowtow to Barcelona at some point? Perhaps Ox is Coutinho's replacement all along. No one knows for sure but I think the VvD purchase was only agreed on with the condition that it would be it for this window. I don't like the fact that FSG are going to gamble by not strengthening key areas for the third window in a row - but I'm not surprised. Sorry to ruin it for this rumour site - but we are not getting anyone.

24.) 29 Jan 2018 21:49:36
Just my two pennies worth.

I think the transfer of Coutinho has come at a bad time. Following the Man City win everyone was saying great business and who needs him now after a couple of losses the club has been short sighted.

End of the day we sold a player who no longer wanted to play for us. We sold him at a great price although I believe we could have got even more for him.

We have all seen how successful some of our panic buys have been Caroll is a great example.

I agree that the club should be planning ahead but I also believe that they have. If they can't get the player they want/ need in the Jan window then they absolutely should wait for the summer.

Going out to WBA was awful as if we were still in the fa cup it was a real opportunity to start winning. But even having Coutinho would not have guaranteed that.

I firmly believe we have a team capable of being in the top 4 at the end of the season. But we as fans need to get behind the club and players and help them to make this a good season.

I think the club is heading in the right direction but still has some areas they need to improve and with the money they have from Coutinho sale and hopefully top 4 finish they can do it. Time us fans showed a little faith and support the players we have who on their day are a match for most teams.

Enjoying success is always more enjoyable if you have tasted a few lows as well.

25.) 29 Jan 2018 22:13:44
clearly, we have a lot to learn regarding transfer windows, our midfield is a mess, our defence is poor, and no need to mention our four goalkeepers, except to say that we should in the summer let them all go, and bring in an elite Keeper such as Allison,
Klopp still hasn't learnt how to rotate, and please will he move on Migs and Moreno, them two have been responsible for so many goals,
we need to be winning some Cup and get Top Four, otherwise Salah and more will move on sooner rather than later .

26.) 30 Jan 2018 00:01:32
Salah was Coutinhos replacement. If Barcelona had offered the right package he would have gone last summer and should have. Is it that hard to grasp? Coutinho dropped into midfield when Salah arrived.
As for losing to the bottom teams, we did that WITH Coutinho also!
Some posters need to wake up and smell what they’re typing.
Credit to the Ed’s for staying sane in the asylum.

27.) 30 Jan 2018 06:50:00
Can only assume a lot of fans on here play football manager and don't get the difference between that and the real world. Yes we should have taken the Coutinho money (that wasn't all in one go so didn't exist and doesn't just become pocket money to spend), spent it on player x (who obviously would just walk out of his own club) because it would be better than thinkinbg about what is being done. Can i ask do people read the stuff on here in a joined up way, eg trying offload Markovic who we bought cos we had money burning in our pockets. Or maybe another go with Andy Carroll but for £60m this time? Or maybe the club did spend "the Coutinho money" by buying VVD and will spend more as and where it is right to do so. Or go back to previous era of buying not good enough players for the sake of it.
