Hearing sunderland are to sign ben woodburn on a six month load deal. Good luck young man go make a name for yourself.

1.) 05 Jan 2018 16:59:01
I really, really hope he hasn't joined Sunderland. That would be the worst possible move for him.

The lad needs to develop, get regular game time, with a competent team that can play to his strengths. Sunderland are an old team, bottom of the table in their league, and have done nothing to suggest they will survive. If Woodburn really does join Sunderland on loan then Liverpool have failed the lad. So many better teams around who would be happy to include him in the team, whether that be as a starter or a rotational player. That would be much better than to join a side who have give up, lack quality, where most of the players do not even take their jobs seriously, just happy to pick up a wage packet and continue with their lives.

Awful choice if this is true, all players that are looking to develop should stay away from Sunderland.

{Ed025's Note - you do know this is woodburn we are talking about and not salah dont you mango?, a half decent young lad who has exactly no chance of breaking into the first team and would be lucky to make the bench at any premier league side, i think its a great move for him as he has a chance of getting regular football..

2.) 05 Jan 2018 17:18:17
I would comment that at Sunderland he would be working under Chris Coleman who gave him his Wales debut, so he does know and he does very highly rate him.

3.) 05 Jan 2018 17:24:42
great choice in my opinion working under his wales boss. win win for both teams.

4.) 05 Jan 2018 17:17:56
Half decent?

{Ed025's Note - i know i am boosting him up a bit there emre...but yes half decent mate..

5.) 05 Jan 2018 17:32:41
The key is him getting game time in a competitive league of professionals, and with Coleman there he has a good shot of that with at Sunderland. It doesn’t matter if it’s with a top side of or not, arguably a tough relegation scrap for 6 months will teach him even more! Good move for the lad and hope he learns a lot from it and helps out their side with a few goals.

{Ed025's Note - totally agree grobs mate..

6.) 05 Jan 2018 17:36:27
I wasn't talking about the Premier League, ED025. I was talking Championship, as that is where I believe Woodburn should test himself out at first. However, Sunderland for me is the wrong team to aid his development. A young player needs to play with decent players so that he can get the best out of himself, he needs to join a team whose fans are not on the teams back and hurling abuse, a team that can compete and have a fighting mentality, if not a winning one.

Sunderland to me is the wrong choice. The only positive I can see is that if Woodburn joined Sunderland then his former Wales manager will support and be behind him. That and Woodburn will have to learn how to deal with expectation and pressure. However while Coleman is the right manager I do not believe he has the players. This is not the Wales national team, Woodburn will be playing with people like John O'Shea (Who no longer cares about football considering his medal cabinet), Jack Rodwell (A man who threw his career away for money) and Lee Cattermole (A man who is and was a safe best to get red carded every game) .

That is not quality, that is players at the end of their careers stuck at the club because nobody else wants them. That is the kind of players Woodburn will be playing alongside.

Just my two cents though, I hope if the deal goes through everything will go according to Woodburn and Liverpool's plan but I do doubt it myself.

{Ed025's Note - i have to disagree mango, as grobs on another post said it will do him the world of good to be in a side that may be struggling, it will show what hes made of and believe it will be a good platform to learn his trade rather than the comfort of liverpools reserves, just my opinion of course mate..

7.) 05 Jan 2018 17:49:09
Can't see Woodburn getting a game here. Much different class at every position to get thrown in like Ibe, Sterling etc. And more will come in next year. Still think Ben can have a career with us if we gets footy for a couple years in the bottom of prem as a starter.

8.) 05 Jan 2018 17:59:44
Well said ed25! Good way to build character, I think it was ed02 said something recently about learning more in a loss than in a win!
Good luck to him.

{Ed025's Note - good luck indeed mate..

9.) 05 Jan 2018 18:06:17
Top young player, needs a move and Coleman will look after him. Think he's as good as anything to come from the academy in years he's comparable to Sterling. Let him get senior games till May and see where he is in the summer.

10.) 05 Jan 2018 18:14:32
We said the same about Ibe and look what happened to him.

11.) 05 Jan 2018 18:18:36
Great move for him in my opinion. Going to play for a manager who knows him very well, knows what he's all about. Sunderland have a fantastic fan base could become a favourite quite easiy, Get his confidence up. Could be the making of the boy. No doubt he's a great talent but not going to get to show it if he stays at liverpool.

12.) 05 Jan 2018 18:33:47
So is every young player an ibe now? although if every half decent academy player was sold for £15million we'd be doing ok.

13.) 05 Jan 2018 19:01:26
What about Ibe? He went on loan to Derby and came back a better player. Whatever has happened to him since at Bournemouth has nothing to do with his loan at Derby!

14.) 05 Jan 2018 22:35:00
Ibe was ruined here not outside and/ or by the player he already is. Woodburn could turn out different so at least give the lad a chance. Oh and Ibe isn't doing too badly considering ge is still playing at the top level of domestic football.

Reading both juventus and dortmund have enquired about the avaliability of young rhian Brewster. Any truth in this?

Lfcleeboy

{Ed002's Note - Juventus have made an enquiry about Rhian Brewster but I am not aware there has been one from Dortmund just yet - but they are spending a lot of time looking at younger British players and they have the benefit of giving them chances.}

1.) 22 Nov 2017 10:12:09
Thanks for reply ed. Be a shame to lose another young talent.

{Ed002's Note - Of course but it is the age old problem of money and guarantees. I suspect he will stay.}

2.) 22 Nov 2017 16:18:15
If I were young and growing up in the academy of a Premier league team, i would jump at the chance to go to Dortmund, or other European clubs that play to a decent standard. I know money makes the world go round and all; but playing football at a high level has to be the best thing for a footballer wanting a career in the game.

Trent for england? I think so. Another man of the match performance for me, fantastic. What a team, C'mon red men!

1.) 14 Apr 2018 19:29:08
If Arnold doesn't make it to the World Cup, on the back of his pinpoint crossing, free kicks and defending, then I would seriously question Southgate's credentials. His competition for the position are all nothing but huff and puff speedsters with some athletic ability.

2.) 14 Apr 2018 19:36:04
I'd rather TAA put his feet up over the summer. Hopefully Egypt and Senegal don't get out of their group and Brazil continue to ignore Firmino's qualities. These lads need some rest this summer in preparation for a title assault next season.

3.) 14 Apr 2018 19:48:02
Completely agree ra.

4.) 14 Apr 2018 19:54:43
Macca and Jenas are making some good points on BT though. If TAA is honestly likely to be 3rd choice after Walker and Trippier, the better for him to rest up for a few weeks. He’s only 19 after all and I don’t want him to do an Owen.

05 Jan 2018 21:49:11
£75million? Scoring the winner in a derby FA cup tie at the kop end on your debut? . PRICELESS.

Lfcleeboy

{Ed0333's Note - let’s hope he makes me eat a slice of humble pie mate. In fact I hope he makes me eat the whole frigggin pie.

1.) 05 Jan 2018 21:56:15
Not a great game, good to see VVD control and direct the defence. I CANNOT stand BBC commentary and ‘analysis’ it’s woeful for a good footballer Shearer is woeful and understanding the game as is Murphy they're a joke. We deserved a win and I hope he’s legate gets some retrospective action he’s acting like a brat. Not out of 3rd gear and still won happy days.

2.) 05 Jan 2018 21:57:58
Long balls will be bread and butter for VVD and Matip, bigger test ahead but he looked handy tonight.

3.) 05 Jan 2018 21:58:16
V for Virgil
V for Van Dyk
V for Victory
Good night Liverpudlians.

4.) 05 Jan 2018 22:02:40
Happy to see how vocal VVD was. that's all I rrally wanted from the CBs tbh.

{Ed0333's Note - agreed he was vocal

5.) 06 Jan 2018 10:01:39
Matip? No way I thought he was poor and fell over like a child on their attack for the goal, weakest CB I think I’ve ever seen, needs to bulk up or harden up if he wants to get a starting position.

29 Nov 2017 22:21:02
What an absolute gem we have on our hands at our football club. Never mind building a statue for coutinho build king mo a castle!

Lfcleeboy

1.) 29 Nov 2017 22:28:34
Ha, King of the Castle .

2.) 29 Nov 2017 22:36:05
Build the lad a massive Sphinx replaced with Mo’s Face.

3.) 29 Nov 2017 22:38:10
Convert Anfield into a pyramid.

4.) 29 Nov 2017 22:56:08
that first touch for his second goal reminded me of torres when he did the same thing against vidic.

5.) 29 Nov 2017 23:06:52
The Pharaoh of Anfieled.

6.) 29 Nov 2017 23:40:10
There's a little guy for Barcelona that people are calling the Argentinian Salah.

7.) 30 Nov 2017 08:35:11
I saw that on SM too, Fowler. He is the Egyptian Salah.

8.) 30 Nov 2017 09:05:30
I actually felt sorry for Pieters with that goal. He was so confused he literally ran off in the wrong direction thinking he had dinked it away. That was the face of a man who genuinely didn't have a clue what was happening to him.

02 Nov 2017 13:27:01
Nice to see lovren sharing player of the month with mo salah. Yes he's had a bit of a mare the last few weeks but death threats towards his family by so called fans? These people are scum. Its a game at the end of the day. There are some vile people in this world.

Lfcleeboy

1.) 02 Nov 2017 13:57:15
Well done to all who voted, I'm sure without this site he probably wouldn't of got as far as he did with the votes, I'm sure it'll mean a lot to him knowing more then the odd few idiots there are normal people who do support him no matter what.

2.) 02 Nov 2017 14:33:47
CORLEONE.
I totally agree with you weather people say it was deserved or not it shows there are more decent people out there than a few idiots.

3.) 02 Nov 2017 14:44:58
His award is a strong message to him that regardless of what he is going through on and off the pitch, he IS one of us and we will support him through out his travails. At the same time, this is a message to the muppets out there who targeted his family: You are NOT welcome there and we will defeat you every time. YNWA and congrats to Salah and Lovren!

4.) 02 Nov 2017 14:48:48
Too right redsteve mate :)

5.) 02 Nov 2017 15:11:00
LORIS
FULLY support your comments well said.

6.) 02 Nov 2017 15:16:11
cheers CORLEONE i said the other day weather your a top footballer have a few bob in the bank if you have off field problems you need all the support you can get just look at the struggles of Clarke Carlisle.

7.) 02 Nov 2017 16:28:39
Cud be crazy but sometimes when the world is against you And nothing is going right, something like this that shows you're not alone and a little solidarity can hopefully allow him to turn a corner.

8.) 02 Nov 2017 18:18:31
Agreed, it was a fine gesture. I can imagine the moment Lovren was told he was joint player of the month as voted for by fans. At first he might have thought it was a cruel joke or an ironic bashing but then he would've realised what it meant. I bet he was touched, especially if he is going through some kind of depression. Well done all those who voted. And let's be honest, he will probably play better for it.

9.) 02 Nov 2017 20:29:07
Dont agree he shouuld get millions of appologies on social media but no player of the month when you had a shocking month on the field.

10.) 02 Nov 2017 21:38:26
Whilst I would normally agree that a player should only get player of the month for footballing reasons, however, in this instance, I am all for an exception and I am so pleased he has been given the award. His wife, family and children have received a death threat which is so sad, unfair, diabolical, disappointing and shocking.

This is the right message to send to Lovren, his family and any other player that plays for us now or may sign in the future.

11.) 02 Nov 2017 22:01:36
Irish, that is your opinion and you are welcome to it. Clearly, the majority disagree with you cos we know that he is having a rough time on and off the pitch and have chosen to vote for him as more of a sign of support for him and his fam over the pitch as we recognize that football is less important than life.

12.) 02 Nov 2017 22:18:02
well put Loris.

13.) 02 Nov 2017 22:56:01
What one must remember is that it might not have been Liverpool fans sending out the death threats. We have some pretty vile footballing enemies and when you go to certain away games, I won’t name them on here, it really does hit home.

Anyway, what a great gesture and I hope Lovren and his family get over this awful “ stuff “ they’ve been subjected too.

14.) 02 Nov 2017 23:24:07
That's the spirit, Drogie. Well put, sir.

15.) 02 Nov 2017 23:27:31
Fans can be so fickle sometimes.
The player of the month award should be granted on merit alone.
It’s not fair on the other players who deserve it on football grounds.
If you want to support Lovren send him a nice letter, card tweet or an email
I’m sure that would mean a lot more to the man.

16.) 03 Nov 2017 06:47:43
It's seems like charity to me and I would think lovern would be embarrassed as well give him love on social media but plaudits for he s performances which have been shocking.

28 Oct 2017 16:57:47
Great result today just what was needed after last week. let's hope this is the turning point. Well done boys YNWA.

Lfcleeboy

1.) 28 Oct 2017 17:21:51
THought the defence looked very assured today. Klavan ain't so bad, he must be the most physical cb we have and you need players like that.

Aoc looked bright off the bench again, easy win tbh but just what we expected. Might have drawn this game last season.

2.) 28 Oct 2017 17:32:33
klavan is bang average. I can't think of a good attribute he has, plus he's not exactly in his prime. maybe he used to be a good player.

3.) 28 Oct 2017 17:34:44
Wouldn’t get too carried away, we were shocking in the first half. Huddersfield posed no threat up front, they didn’t press or put us under any pressure, they just sat back.

I thought Ox and Solanke looked sharp when they came on, at least the Ox tries to beat a man as apposed to this side to side passing which were subject to in the first half.

Don’t get me wrong I’m happy with the three points but boos around the ground at half time pretty much summed things up.

4.) 28 Oct 2017 17:48:58
Lets be happy for the 3 points and the confidence boost this will give the players.

5.) 28 Oct 2017 18:04:29
Exactly kloppisakloon just trying to bring a bit of positivity. Credit where credits due Boys had a job to do and they done it. Bad performance or not its still 3 points.

6.) 28 Oct 2017 18:06:35
a welcome 3 points today but honestly huddesfeild offerd nothing mignolet had nothing to do let's see if he's picked how he copes against carrol next week and apart from scoring sturridge offerd nothing he look scared to run this could of been an oppertunity to give a. o. c Robertson and solanke a full game klopp brought the 3 of them in yet gives them hardly any game time.

7.) 28 Oct 2017 18:12:23
didnt they get a coincidence boost after the maribor game then got thumped by spurs. i agree with you hope it does give them a boost but there seems to be somethink lacking they look tied in games maybe there getting pushed to hard in training they seem to pick up a few injuries am only guessing I don't know.

8.) 28 Oct 2017 18:34:47
Wow, an average first half performance was followed by a very good second half performance, scoring 3 goals and some people still feel the need to complain and criticize certain players and the manager. I genuinely feel sorry for you.

9.) 28 Oct 2017 20:26:40
Smeg, I think that the first half performance was below average, but we needed to score the first goal, and open the game up a bit, once we did that, it gave everyone a lift, so let's be happy with a win, they are scarce right now in the league, we have payers coming back, so, let's look on the bright side of life, nearly singing there .

10.) 29 Oct 2017 09:44:50
Superred, you are a true comedy genius!

“Klavan ain’t so bad” and “. we need players like that”

Cue hysterical laughter! 🤣.

Ward prowse has to be worth a shout. His set piece delivery is fantastic every time. Something we lack in my opinion.

Lfcleeboy

{Ed001's Note - but he spends more time doing his hair than playing football. Overrated. It is all very well being able to deliver but you need to offer something from open play as well, which he doesn't.}

Mk, i work at a private school in buckingham stowe school, and get to see quite a bit of lacrosse and cricket and trust me i wouldn't bother mate. Great if you need a nap! Stick with rugby least its a bit lively. 18stone men running about battering eachother for 80 minutes what's not to like. And nothing but total respect for the ref! Saints not doing so well this season try watching leicester tigers if you get time. A proper side!
