Sorry Eds you have probably answered this question recently but what's the score with Erme Can with not signing this contract.

Lee72

{Ed002's Note - I can only imagine options are being considered. If someone like Keita arrived he would be down a peg on the ladder - I guess he knows that - as he knows Juve are looking at Keita as well.}

1.) 15 Aug 2017 01:00:20
Will the club let him run down his contract?

It seems it has dragged on for ages.

{Ed001's Note - they already have.}

2.) 15 Aug 2017 07:54:44
I think towards the end of last season, in pre season and in our one game this season, he has shown he can be a great player for us. We should have done more to secure him before this situation arose.

3.) 15 Aug 2017 10:51:57
Not intelligent enough to be a centre mid, runs round like a headless chicken to often. He doesn't excel defensively or offensively, no doubt he has technical quality and athleticism but we definitely need a better alternative to him. The odd fantastic goal doesn't qualify you to be a Liverpool centre mid.

4.) 15 Aug 2017 11:23:16
How about helping liverpool to 4 clean sheets out of six games at end of last season? . Can is brilliant and given our inability to sign players I really think we need to make sure and keep players who want to play for us. Can really stood up last season and if not for a wonder goal we would be travelling to hadjuk split on a Thursday evening this season.

5.) 15 Aug 2017 12:12:02
Toul, you are wrong. Can is a very good player and is already part of the Germany setup, which is not for slouches. Also, Juve really want him and will start every week for them, a team capable of playing a CL final every season. They don't buy duds nor slouches so your idea that he is a headless chicken makes no sense.

6.) 15 Aug 2017 16:52:10
Lowest pass completion record out of our centre midfielders, that's despite playing a more withdrawn role more regularly. I am not having that he'd displace Khedira, Pjanic or Marchisio, and if you believe he would your deluded. He'd likely be a squad player there based on his versatility. Germany took an experimental side to the confed cup he also got played right mid in a qualifier and he's 23 not a teenager. Decision making and positioning aren't great and although he clearly has large potential I feel as a centre mid he lacks ability to control a game. His overhead kick wasn't the only thing that got us to the CL, dozens of moments and performances gained us points. As for our clean sheets, mignolets performance coupled with having our first choice centre halfs available consistently helped massively. I'm not slating the lad he has plenty of admirable attributes, but we need someone more consistently effective in centre mid rather than 3 box to box midfielders. Think back to Benitez and we had a balanced midfield with a deep lying distributor and a ball winning mid as well as gerrards obvious raw talent to create going forward. Now tell me, which of those categories does he fall into?

7.) 15 Aug 2017 20:05:45
BingoRed and Superred watch this game and tell me he's influential.

8.) 15 Aug 2017 21:36:38
No influence at all, booked for a daft challenge. He's no outlet for our defenders, barely seen him. Not a presence aerially nor really has he done anything going forward. Defensively he's been slow, tell me if he's a supposed superstar then why is he not having any influence from the middle of the park? Don't get me wrong everyone has a bad game occasionally but even if your having a bad game, in centre midfield you must have a presence. Mane has done far more defending than him, if either of you see him starting for Juve you need a footballing education.

12 Aug 2017 23:38:54
Shearer hit the nail on the head we need a leader in defence who can push and pull players into position.

The spine of the team needs rebuilding starting from defence and get some winners in that team who are mentally strong.

Also get shut of coutinho let him go no player is bigger than our club.

Lee72

1.) 13 Aug 2017 00:01:09
Reina, Hyppia, Alonso, Gerrard and Torres was the last time we had a real strong spine to the team. Never replaced that spine since and no wonder why success went downhill from those days.

2.) 13 Aug 2017 01:27:21
Great spine! And we won what with that exact spine?

3.) 13 Aug 2017 01:30:08
WHO DO YOU WANT TO SIGN?

Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Jeremy Corbin?

If you don't put suggestions the post is worthless.

4.) 13 Aug 2017 01:50:56
We're white a small team Ayr. Plus the guys we have a white mentally weak I rekon. At set piece time we've typically just got the 2 CBd and maybe Can who can offer a presence in the box. The others whilst small also play small and often at the worst possible times. What do others think?

5.) 13 Aug 2017 01:56:18
Always one to ruin a post.

6.) 13 Aug 2017 04:36:47
Ron do you want the whole world to be positive and happy regardless how stupid Klopp and managment team are? if one can't make changes to things even a blind man can see, then we as fan can't even morn or complain. I am rarely the one to complain on this website and had a lot of hope in Klopp but i feel he is BR 2.0 same mistakes same atitude of buying only pacy attacking players and can't address out leaking defence. sorry to call on you Ron, i respect your opinion but i think its enough with all the positivity and we all as suppporters deserve to be heard.

{Ed001's Note - buying only pacy attacking players? You mean like Robertson, Klavan, Karius, Manninger or Matip? I think you should stop looking at it all negative and try and see a balanced view before calling out others!}

7.) 13 Aug 2017 04:59:53
Oh dear, sorry should be saying quite not white! Sorry if that came across wrong! Also ya only deserved to be heard if ya going to be helpful. But spouting nonsense band baseless drivel deserves to be called out.

8.) 13 Aug 2017 06:34:39
Crazy horse: I respect everyone's opinion. I've read from several people the same thing. I agree with the premis that we need "leaders" but who do you want?
They don't grow on trees otherwise someone would suggest a leader we could sign.
At least MK gave some suggestions but I personally don't think Ben Gibson is that man to lead our team. Many times last season he looked totally lost positionally.

These leaders need to be worth their position in the team otherwise they have no authority or respect from their team mates. I'm not always 100% positive. How many times have you read me post "we've never replaced Hyypia". He is the last real leader we've had in our team in my opinion. Gerrard was an inspirational captain, but Hyypia was a leader.

9.) 13 Aug 2017 06:59:10
@Ron

Since Hyypia.

Carra? Suarez?

Both leaders and both winners. You forgot them. Just saying.

10.) 13 Aug 2017 07:11:26
Toby Aldervield.

11.) 13 Aug 2017 07:20:42
Yeah the type of players we're all craving are tough to find. We need a vocal organiser at the back. Someone who will continue to bark instructions even when he's personally not playing great. The guy needs to naturally command the respect of others and be a steady 7/ 10 most games. Personally I'd take bravery over playing out from the back. Keep things simple - win the ball, command the back line and give the ball to others - easy. Row Z when required. If we lose Coutinho the money needs to be spent on a centre half. Does Virgil VD fit the bill? Also, pet hate of mine is zonal marking. It's too easy to hide using zonal marking and to blame others. Keep a pacy presence on the halfway line for long clearances and man mark with men on posts.

{Ed001's Note - men on the posts is zonal marking.....}

12.) 13 Aug 2017 08:21:47
Men on the posts was just called 'the basics' when I was playing Ed!

{Ed001's Note - it still is, but it is a form of zonal marking.}

13.) 13 Aug 2017 09:24:48
Sanchez of Ajax strikes me as being s leader and organiser
If we can't get VVD I would try for this CB.

14.) 13 Aug 2017 10:16:04
Inigo Martinez for 30 odd million?

15.) 13 Aug 2017 11:15:44
There is plenty of players out there who could be a missing Vertebrae to our spine, but unfortunately;
1) many we won’t even look at them because of our playing style which they won’t fit into.
2) most are at teams bigger than LFC who would never sell or the player wouldn’t be interested in joining us.

@Ron, it’s hard to actually pick anybody out for the 2 reasons I said above, and at the end of the day there is no point in us suggesting any signings on here is there? Klopp and Co won’t read it.

16.) 13 Aug 2017 14:28:10
Phil, by pointing out the lack of available players it might give some of the harshest critics some perspective about why Klopp hasn't signed players of that ilk.
Where I will criticise Klopp is him giving new long-term contracts to Lovren and Mignolet. That was pure stupidity on his part.

17.) 13 Aug 2017 14:47:12
Red Phil talks sense. The way we play, it's not about a "spine" it's aBout a platform for the attacking players. Personally I take a lot of positives from watford game. I think salah, mane, and firminio is the most dangerous forward line in the league and I have no idea how someone would defend against it bar physically battering our guys. They all scored and I think they will score more than any other attacking unit this year.

We didn't lose did we? And the last watford goal should never have been given. It was an away draw. We showed real heart to come back from 1.0 and 2.1. We showed we can still rip up opposition defenses without pc. I don't understand the gloom. I do understand people's frustration with defence at set pieces but I think vvd will have the intelligence to position our guys properly and take charge back there. It won't happen instantly. Think selling lucas was a mistake and would have been a better sub than Milner.

18.) 13 Aug 2017 14:53:25
Oi oi pompey red, live in portsmouth these days. Ed is right mate but I know what you mean, we had no one on the front post at corners did we? If we did that cross for the second would have been easily dealt with. I'm so torn on our style. I love watching us play out and pass freely but I prefer ed watching us win 1.0 under rafa.

19.) 13 Aug 2017 15:20:49
what about giving Sturridge a big pay rise when he was out injured, Klopp is many things, some good, some not so good, he is stubbern, slow to learn and the way he dealt with Sacko was down right stupid, yes Sacko was out of order, but just deal with him, don't lose him .

20.) 13 Aug 2017 15:59:21
Sadly I agree with you red forever. Sahko would have that defence more cohesive. I like our style of football bug our dealings in the transfer market are piss poor. Everyone talks like we are stoke or watford "who wants to sign for us? " We are Liverpool. One of elite clubs in the world. Amazing facilities and coaching staff. I don't buy the "people don't wanna play for us" argument.

21.) 13 Aug 2017 16:57:54
" We are Liverpool. One of elite clubs in the world. Amazing facilities and coaching staff. "

We are Liverpool, one champions league appearance in 7 years, one trophy in 10 years and where players come to deteriorate, top players can't wait to leave and young players toss their careers away"

It's not hard to work out.

22.) 13 Aug 2017 18:16:28
Last season pc scored and Hendo ran over to celebrate with him and Phil couldn't look him in the eye. coz his heart was already elsewhere. I think that was in 2016. Being on this end of things I don't understand how

23.) 13 Aug 2017 23:14:24
I think people obsess with idea defence is the place to make the solution but in reality the other sides competing for top 4 have some flakey defenders. In most cases they get around it cos they hassle and scare other teams. Liverpool hassle but not as efficiently but do not scare anyone. I think all the "weaker" teams fancy beating Liverpool but don't fancy it against the other top sides. The fact they know they can shut up shop and nick a goal is a major problem. If teams worried that they couldn't contain Liverpool theyd possibly be less sur e about attacking the weak areas.

24.) 14 Aug 2017 15:35:50
I disagree detailslockrd. I think our attack frightens defences possibly more than anyone. Especially this season. That is why they sit their whole team behind the ball.

Good day eds. Any idea what the holdup is with the work starting on Liverpool’s new training facility in Kirkby, and when should it be completed thanks.

Lee72

{Ed002's Note - There is no delay - contracts have to be let, plans finalised etc..}

1.) 03 Jul 2018 22:43:33
Cheers mate.

Colombia are impressive tonight, cuadadro has some energy looks good. Another Chelsea flop.

Lee72

1.) 24 Jun 2018 20:57:40
Haha. I've just posted that. I didn't see yours. The last Chelsea reject wasn't too bad.

2.) 24 Jun 2018 21:09:54
Didn’t falcoa also play for Chelsea?

3.) 24 Jun 2018 23:52:57
Genuinely think a team of ex Chelsea players would beat Chelsea!

4.) 25 Jun 2018 03:58:15
Good one firmane.

Don't worry about a thing. Because every little things going to be alright.

24 Jul 2017 00:42:05
Sorry didn't finish my post, Mascherano or a Makelele type of player would suit us better and we could attack with our excellent forward line and have the security of a holding midfielder to keep us tight at the back.

Lee72

1.) 24 Jul 2017 09:29:33
Keita is better than masch (who was never actually that good) he's better defensively and better all round, he will disrupt attacks like a DM, start attacks from deep and speed up play through the middle. Proper box to box player, we don't have a player like him in the squad and I think he would be a great addition to the team. if you watch him, watch how he pings perfect balls out to the wings, imagine Salah and Mane receiving them, watch how he disrupts play like Lucas used to then immediately gets on the attack.
It would be like taking all the best bits from hendo (great passing) Lucas (great reading of the game) and Can (engine) with none of their weaknesses (he's a whole lot quicker at running and passing the ball)
Can't imagine he is any good at headers but nobody is at Liverpool so nothing gained, nothing lost.

2.) 24 Jul 2017 10:35:57
Hopefully all the attention will make him want LFC when he's only costs £48M next year. We can cope till then 🤞 with Jordan back fit and let's not forget Woodburns development, really useful in cups etc. We have some really good youngsters to help the squad with the increased number of matches.

24 Jul 2017 00:35:37
I've never seen Keita play but I think what I have heard he is a box to box player. Wouldn't we be better getting a really good holding midfielder who can put fires out so to speak. The amount of times we get caught on the break it is something we definitely need I think.

I don't know who's out there but someone like amascherano.

Lee72

1.) 24 Jul 2017 10:39:54
Kieta can do all that, but has the ability to play amf too. If he can follow managers instruction depending on opponents he looks the complete midfielder. AFCON would be my only gripe, but it's going to the summer soon I believe.

Exactly, we must strike while the irons hot. Been watching the reds since 77 and we have always been positive believing we are the best. We have got a decent squad of players we just need to finish it off with 1 or 2 additions to give it a good go. Why wait until next season or the season after it’s not the Liverpool way.

How many years do you want it to be transitional for, we are Liverpool we should go for titles, what’s the use of going in half hearted. Go and get Paulinha from Fulham and give it a good crack. Up the reds.

We’ve got to sign someone we’ve got 2 cracking players in, let’s get another ball winner in and let’s go all out for the league. Don’t mess it up now boys final pieces of the jigsaw. Klopp must demand this!

Liverpool will be in the new training ground around June or July next summer, there is still plenty of work still going on there atm. The site looks really good it should be much better than melwood in terms of space and not in a built up area.

Jesus they must be bad then ha.
I know you can’t read to much into friendlys but I think we are missing a coutinho type player not him tho, someone like insigne would be class or an up and coming number 10 we have the pulling power after winning the C/ L and probably have the funds to bring a top class kid in, just a bit frustrating to see no transfers coming in. I’m sure Man City are shocked we haven’t added to our squad.

Lee72

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City won't be caring what Liverpool do. Neither will any other clubs.}

Liverpool are lacking in attacking options and that’s with bringing the front 3 back. Insigne and calleron where class today and took us apart I can’t understand why klopp hasn’t put the finishing touches to the team, we need a new dimension going into the new season surely we can’t rely on Milner, ox, hendo, Fabinho and keita to give us an attacking option from midfield even Lallana is passed it z Just hoping he’s going to give us a big lift before the season starts otherwise it’s going to be a long season and Man Utd will be back on our heels again.

Lee72

{Ed025's Note - united wont be bothering liverpool any time soon lee...hell im not even scared of them bothering everton mate.. :)
