Not big news but its being reported over here that Robbie Fowler is the favourite to take over management of my local a-league team, Brisbane Roar. Ed's know anything about this? Seems odd as I didn't realise he had aspirations of management.

Klippertys klopp

{Ed001's Note - not a clue sorry.}

1.) 31 Mar 2019 12:11:00
He's worked as a coach at MK Dons and Liverpool. He was also manager about 6 years ago in the Thai League 1 but don't exoect me to spell it correct; Muangthang 😂.

2.) 31 Mar 2019 14:57:49
There was also talk of him coaching one of the Indian teams. He flew over, had the meetings and media interviews, and then didn't do it.

Ed02 if your about, I recall you mentioned recently, that there are a handful of young players that are very highly rated amongst the top echelons of football including yourself. If you have the time, Do you mind repeating the list or telling me a keyword to search for to find the post. Thanks.

Klippertys klopp

{Ed002's Note - I have no way to provide a link and no recollection about what I said. But interesting in terms of centre backs, and knowing LFC will need one in the summer, the smart kids are looking at Jorge Mere (CB) of Cologne, Marseille's Boubacar Kamara (CB) and RBL's Ibrahima Konate (CB). Liverpool have taken a look at Egy Maulana Vikri (AM) - an Indonesian kiddie playing in Poland who has attracted plenty of attention.}

1.) 12 Feb 2019 14:52:54
Cheers for the info Ed. When you say we will be looking at a CB do you mean a youngster then or a first team player to replace a likely departing one?

{Ed002's Note - It would not be a surprise to see Liverpool add a CB to the first team squad in the summer as they have looked at a couple.}

2.) 12 Feb 2019 15:03:58
Thanks Ed.

3.) 12 Feb 2019 16:21:01
Any chance you could specify who it is Liverpool have looked at for CB for the first team Ed002?

Unless you have before and I have missed it?

Thanks for your time otherwise.

{Ed002's Note - Ruben Dias (CB) Liverpool have watched the Benfica CB on several occasions and watched him in a national game against Croatia in September.
Dael Fry (CB) Liverpool has a declared interest in Fry as they look to bolster the HG quota - knowing that prices will increase - much is expected of Fry.
I cannot say whether or not there is any firm interest in Lloyd Kelly (CB) nor Aidan Wilson who have been "recommended" to the club by an "agent" who I would recommend staying well clear of.}

4.) 12 Feb 2019 16:39:59
Really appreciate this ed2!

5.) 12 Feb 2019 16:51:02
Sorry if you’ve already said Ed and I’ve missed it but have you advised us who we have looked at as a CB recently?

{Ed002's Note - See above or below -not sure which but I have answered it.}

6.) 12 Feb 2019 21:02:05
Cheers for the reply Ed.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

7.) 12 Feb 2019 21:49:13
Cheers for the info Ed2, how are you mate?

{Ed002's Note - I am good man, thanks. January was five weeks of travel and fortunately I am generally at home for there weeks now - aside for a trip or two tho London. You must be pleased with the progress this season, Liverpool are better placed than they have been for many, many years o pick up the league title. Be nice to see it happen.}

8.) 12 Feb 2019 22:04:58
Glad to hear you are good Ed2, sounds like you were in need of a good break after such a busy January!

Yes, I'm quite confident about this season, I really see us doing it, many will disagree and think the worst and I know anything is possible but I do think it's ours for the taking this time around. Fingers crossed lol!

Take care mate.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks.}

9.) 12 Feb 2019 22:14:45
Cheers Ed really good to hear from you mate. Take it easy.

10.) 12 Feb 2019 22:17:13
If I may ask Ed02, and I'm not asking whether Liverpool will eventually making a move for Vikry, but if any of English clubs try to, I believe it will be really really difficult to get a work permit, right?

Indonesia is currently ranked around 150+ in Fifa rankings. I believe ranking plays a huge part in obtaining work permit. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

{Ed002's Note - You are correct - a WP will be very, very dificult to obtain. The rules have changed but the player needs a minimum of four points and summary goes something like this:
- The value of the transfer fee (alone) that is to be paid is between the top 75% and 100% of all transfers to Premier League clubs in the previous 2 windows - 3 points
- The value of the transfer fee being paid for the player is between 50% and 75% of all transfers to Premier League clubs in the previous 2 windows - 2 points
- The basic wage (excluding bonuses) being paid to the player by the new club is in the top 25% of the top 30 earners at the club - 3 points
- The basic wage (excluding bonuses) being paid to the player by the new club is between 50% and 75% of all the top 30 earners at the club - 2 points
- Subjectively, the player’s current club is in a recognised "top" league and the player has played in 30% or more of the available domestic league minutes - 1 point
- The player’s existing club has played in the group stages or onwards of the Champions League, Europa League or the Copa Libertadores within the last 12 months and the player has played in 30% or more of the available domestic league minutes - 1 point.}

11.) 12 Feb 2019 22:27:07
Ed it's good to see you back. Glad you got home safely.

{Ed002's Note - I usually get home safely thianks - there was an issuette in Tel Aviv but all is well.}

12.) 12 Feb 2019 23:36:26
That's a really interesting rules. Thanks for this, Ed02.

13.) 13 Feb 2019 09:34:19
Thanks Ed2. Sounds like a big game of yazi to me!

14.) 13 Feb 2019 09:35:40
Thank you Ed002. Your knowledge and expertise never fails to suprise me.

It's such a tricky posistion for Klopp I'd say. I do actually believe the Centre backs we have are more than good enough to take us to the Premier League (personally) . But I also believe we definitely need one top class centre back as 3 of the 4 we have are ridiculously injury prone. I believe this a view shared by many and said countless times! I just hope Gomez can shrug off all his injuries and get a full season under his belt.

I don't know much about the names mentioned Ed002, I can see you have recommended we stay away from one. Would there be any centre backs you would recommend for LFC given our current CB situation?

{Ed002's Note - The three that are being watched by a number of other high profile sides.}

15.) 13 Feb 2019 11:03:40
Jesus ed that's the nicest thing i've heard you say to our fans in ever! Nice to hear you happy, is militao a realistic option for us? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I would not get your hopes up about Eder Militao.}

16.) 13 Feb 2019 11:15:44
Ok cheers mate, all the best.

Quick question for Ed2 if you have the time. I know it's not liverpool related but I'm really interested to hear what your thoughts are on Lampard as a manager and how Chelsea will travel with him at the helm this season?

Klippertys klopp

{Ed002's Note - He has advisors who will keep everything on track - so OK I would expect,}

1.) 30 Jul 2019 13:37:44
advisors?

it could be a blessing in disguise i have always felt they have continuously wasted talent they they could of used and just bought average squad players.

saying that, Hazard is a HUGE loss i believe he scored and assisted almost 50% for them on his own!

i just can't see them keeping up with the pack this year.

2.) 30 Jul 2019 16:19:13
Can't believe he's not already been sacked! Must be a Chelsea Record this?

3.) 30 Jul 2019 16:46:57
In a way, the Chelsea team would have revolved around Hazard. Now that he is gone the players there need to take responsibility.

Chelsea still have a good squad and expect them to be figthing it out for a top 4 place.

4.) 30 Jul 2019 16:57:59
and just bought average squad players
==============================
Blimey then the managers they had must be miracle workers .
In the past 5 years with these average squad players they managed to win the title twice, FA cup twice, league cup and Europa league . over 10 years 4 league title, 4 fa cups, league cup, 2 Europa league cups and champions league .

Wow, Southern red you must have very high standard, and must be very disappointed with our rubbish players and useless manager that can only match a fraction of that average squad players.

5.) 30 Jul 2019 17:02:11
I think they will be 3rd or 4th this year with kante back playing his usual role.

6.) 30 Jul 2019 20:24:15
Kante will be back in his best role and don't doubt Christian Pulisic. That guy can be something real special.

7.) 31 Jul 2019 03:57:03
Cheers for the reply Ed. I think he is talented but possibly too big a move to soon. Time will tell i guess.

19 Jul 2019 01:48:11
Quick question for Ed02 if you have the time. Sorry if youve already answered this in the past. I used the search function but couldn't find an aswer.

Pardon my ignorance but I was wondering if you could briefly explain the correct process that a club must take to speak with a player? I only ask because you mention in some of your replies that clubs have spoken with a players agent but have not made an offer to the players club. Is this not tapping up? Or does the interested club notify or seek permission from the players club to speak with the player or his agent?

Klippertys klopp

{Ed002's Note - The process should be along the lines of: Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered but no more than that. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent formally about a transfer and also the player himself about actually making a move. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak formally to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.

Agents will often try and get more specific details of wages and other financials before they should - but most clubs are happy to follow this process. Players will often talk to other players about moves but, whilst wrong, is tolerated as it would be impossible to manage.

Alternatively, a selling club may ask an agent to find a new club for a player and he will talk directly to potential selling sides about the fee, personal terms and interest.

The rest of the time agents will be on fishing trips trying to find interest in their players.

In terms of what happens when the negotiations take place, broad agreement (player available and open to discussions, understanding of the price) will already have been reached. The clubs will meet to discuss the details of the transfer fee, other costs associated with the move and the structure of the payments and any additional fees (e.g another €5M for winning the Champions League etc.) but this does not take a "few days".}

1.) 19 Jul 2019 14:10:56
Wow fantastic reply Ed. Thank you for the insight. Just wondering where 'tapping up' a player comes into this and what it actually involves? Not trying to open up a can of worms as I'm genuinely interested and have never quite understood what it involves. I understand if it is not a question you would like to answer.

{Ed002's Note - It involves Klopp phoning the player directly, the club providing an aircraft and him meeting van Dijk in Blackpool. Another example was Klopp making direct contact with a player in December - who would be out of contract in July and striking a deal. Another was a young RB where Klopp made direct contact and spoke of religion with him - but never signed him - his career at his club was then over and he eventually moved to Russia. There are a number of other such stories with Italian clubs a couple of years ago which include illegal approaches.}

2.) 19 Jul 2019 21:34:08
Interesting stuff. Not quite the messiah he's made out to be. Thanks Ed.

3.) 19 Jul 2019 23:29:40
Klopp's penchant for tapping up players is a blight on his otherwise stellar record at LFC. He needs to cut that out for good now.

{Ed002's Note - what stellar record is that?

10 Apr 2019 23:33:02
Question for Ed01. What's your thoughts on Hendo being played in a slightly advanced role in the midfield 3? Klopp seems to have given him a bit more attacking freedom recently and it appears to be paying off.

Klippertys klopp

{Ed001's Note - it suits him, he has always been at his best when able to use his running power. So long as he stays fit it is the perfect role for him.}

1.) 11 Apr 2019 05:56:20
He was brilliant there in 13/ 14 and since neither Gini or Milner are prolific goal scorers so we wouldn’t be missing that, then why not? Gives Klopp a chance to rotate Gini and Milner where required and also fit Fabinho in the team without dropping Hendo.

I like it provided Hendos legs are still what they were. seems his plantar Fastitus has gone away?

2.) 11 Apr 2019 07:03:28
Can you see why Kloppo is such a charismatic fella?! Here's a great example of it, in how he cheekily says “It was my fault that for one-and-a-half years he played as a number six. Sorry for that! ” so naturally! Who else would have the supreme confidence and the supreme humility in equal measures in the game to say that?! He had his reasons why he wanted Hendo at no.6 all this time.

This is why Jurgen Klopp is like no other top level manager right now, and totally fits the great Shankly's Holy Trinity philosophy. He is in symbiosis with players and fans alike. If he can actually win us that first major trophy with him. well. his legendary status with our club is sealed.

Props to Hendo for pushing his case. He has his fans and he has bashers, and us few who have been on the fence, but I hope all can see that overall he has been one of the most valuable players in our squad for longest time.

The above was posted by a fan on another site and me I thought it was brill so I have shared.

3.) 11 Apr 2019 07:55:18
Hats of to Hendo he has played very well the last 2 games in a more advanced position. The games before that he was playing deeper and for me wasn't as impressive. Hopefully Klopp continues to use him and his strengths in a more attacking role and always Fab to start more of the big games in his preferred position then.

4.) 11 Apr 2019 09:56:33
Hendo is one of our best players. People who knock don't know much about football. I love him and he loves us. Like fab, im always happy to see him start and happy when he comes on.

5.) 11 Apr 2019 10:33:52
Agreed Ed. Hopefully he can stay fit and firing.

6.) 11 Apr 2019 19:14:46
Brilliant post, Ravi123. I remember Klopp being asked when he took over, about how the so called Transfer Committee (something BR shamelessly blamed for majority of his ills and incompetence as LFC manager) would work under him. Klopp said that he does not believe only he has the answers and that he is ready to work with the scouting team and find consensus.

We could already see that with the way he was convinced to sign a certain Mo Salah, a guy he really did not want at the start. And the only reason we all know about this story? Klopp has the a great sense of security that he actually told us the story behind it. Klopp was prolly asking himself, "I mean, all these scouts can't be wrong, can they"? Had he been one of these other managers who likes the smell of his own farts, Salah would not be here and heaven knows where we would be now. Top manager and even a better man.

As for the Hendo subject, I will will always refer to one of Ed01's comments on this issue, "Anyone bashing Hendo lacks the intellectual fortitude to actually discuss the topic" or something along those lines.

08 Apr 2019 21:13:24
If your about Ed01, who would you pick to partner Virgil tomorrow? Would you risk Gomez or lovren who aren't match fit or play matip who has been poor lately?

Klippertys klopp

{Ed001's Note - I would go with whichever of them is fitter and have the other on the bench.}

1.) 08 Apr 2019 21:53:30
Lovren for me.

2.) 08 Apr 2019 22:10:22
I think go with matip. We should be able to handle porto at home. Give gomez and lovren a bit more time to get match fit. Especially joe gomez. He has so much potential, it would be awful if he niggled the injury. We haven't lost a game with matip in the team, im not as worried as some about his performances.

If lovren is totally match fit i would consider him though.

3.) 08 Apr 2019 23:10:31
You only get match fit by playing matches tho. It’s as good a game to give Gomez minutes as any.

4.) 09 Apr 2019 00:00:46
Matip all day long. He’s much maligned from some quarters but he’s done us proud thus far. I’d keep him in until Gomez is ready.

5.) 09 Apr 2019 00:52:59
Tough one for me but I think I would stick with Matip at home and all going well give Joe some minutes late in the match.

6.) 09 Apr 2019 06:04:23
Start Trent and Matip then let Gomez get 20-30mins under his belt as a sub late on, either at CB or RB depending on how the games going.

7.) 09 Apr 2019 07:10:10
Klopp has said that joe is 2 weeks away from playing. I think it’s time lovren come back in.

8.) 09 Apr 2019 07:50:29
Klopp has said Gomez won’t be playing and is still 1-2 weeks away from a return to full fitness. I would go with Matip for consistency. Lovrens likely to be rusty and I think we should go for it tonight and hopefully get a decent lead and then Lovren can play in the second leg.

9.) 09 Apr 2019 08:07:14
I would play Gomez at Left back, not as taxing as playing centre half and leaves Milner to play midfield if need be. Gets Gomez minutes on the pitch which he needs to get up to speed.

10.) 09 Apr 2019 16:27:00
I don't think tonights game is going to be as easy as some think. We didn't beat porto at home last season. It was a nil nil i think. I think porto will be super cagey and will pose a threat on the break. If we concede it could make the away game very tricky.

I just hope the boys blow them away in the first half hour, 2,3 up so we can relax and enjoy the game.

Im also worrying that moreno gets the nod because he could be the chink that allows porto an away goal.

But, i have a feeling salah is going to shine tonight. His goal against Southampton was SUBLIME. i've been surprised that the goal hasn't been celebrated that much in the media and among us fans. It was un real. 2 defenders on him, another closing in and he dinked it, with power, into the bottom corner. The only place he could put the ball from his position and the positioning of the defenders and gk.

I admit, i had started to feel last season was a fluke, but that goal was from the very top draw. If it was mbappe it would be shown in montages all year. Amazing player and i think him and mane will both score tonight. One fpr bobby too would be great. He is another one who usually shines in the champions league.

Correct me if I'm wrong Ed's but I read recently that when asked about signing Coutinho Klopp said something along the lines of 'He would be a very very expensive signing and it is not our window for that type of signing ' Clearly Klopp is happy with what we have for this season as the Ed's have been saying.

I agree Ed02. If we're only looking at spending a lot on 1 player, I hope it's an AM. Brandt was my choice but I understand is likely going elsewhere.

I don't think that Klopp hasn't wanted to sign anyone.

I think the issue is that Klopp has wanted to sign players who have not wanted to come and sit on the bench. a lot of fans need to take off the rose tinted glasses thinking that every player wants to sign for us.

Klopp has shown in the past that he won't sign players for the sake of it and is willing to wait for the right ones.

I think that if we have a bit of luck with injuries we'll have a good season. A few injuries to key players will make things very interesting.
