Hey Eds and Reds! Any chance Jonathan David could be one we're interested in this summer? As a Canadian I'd love to see it!

Justinho

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing to suggest it.}

Hey all, a lot being made of the Werner transfer and obviously we won’t know if it’s for real or not unless it actually happens but I’m curious on where he would fit into our 11 if he did sign or if it would likely mean a change to our formation that’s been so successful for us recently. Or possibly someone else heading out the door to make room?

Justinho

1.) 26 May 2020 09:17:49
Either a change in formation for certain games or more rotation up top without a drop in quality. If anyone from our forwards is making way, it will be the likes of Origi and Shaq.

2.) 26 May 2020 14:34:46
Can see Shaquiri, Wilson and Origi leaving personally. Think Werner will join and he along with Minamino and the usual 3 up top gives us good options and leaves some chances for Elliott to get some games.

3.) 26 May 2020 14:41:54
If Werner does join us, one of Salah, Mane or Firmino is going.

4.) 26 May 2020 17:45:03
I don’t think any of the front 3 would leave if Werner joins. The front 3 play more or less every game and if they get taken off they get taken off late. That tells me Klopp doesn’t fully trust the reserve forwards. African Nations is still planned for next season so we lose Mo and Sadio to that. Our midfield 3 rotate around quite nicely with very little difference in their output. Imagine having 4 quality Forwards vying for those 3 positions.

5.) 26 May 2020 18:28:44
I don't think Werner will join us just to be a back up player.

6.) 26 May 2020 19:28:46
RHLT I don't see that happening, Werner looks nailed on, been going on far to long this now. Shaquiri I think is gone as he wants more game time. Would not be surprised to see Origi go had a good season last season but has not pushed on this season and not done really anything this season when had his chances. Wilson might stay to fill the squad places and help with homegrown.

7.) 26 May 2020 19:43:08
We can easily sign Werner without sacrificing any of our front three. we will offset most of his fee by selling the fringe attacking players. For the price he'll be a very good signing.

8.) 26 May 2020 21:54:17
Only way Werner plays on a regular basis is if Firmino is pushed back as a attacking midfielder.

9.) 27 May 2020 07:30:33
We need Werner now because our front 3 aren’t getting any younger and with African nations coming up Mane and salah gone we need bodies up top origi not done it this year.

10.) 27 May 2020 09:11:19
I really don’t see any of the current front 3 moving at this time RHLT.
More that Werner allows high class rotation or we can go 4-2-3-1 for instance with, say, Henderson and Fabinho sitting and Bobby withdrawn back to the advanced tip of the midfield and Werner up top. They could even interchange at times.
Two things Klopp is doing with the squad -
1. Strength in-depth and better selection choices
2. Tactical flexibility. 4-3-3 may be the stock selection still, but tweaks in-game and changes for certain opponents is becoming more of a theme.
I think Werner fits into both of the above scenarios.
I hope it happens.

11.) 27 May 2020 09:54:57
I meant to say 4-2-1-3 but 4-2-3-1 works too lol.
Which sort of proves the point.

12.) 27 May 2020 20:18:49
It's called rotation. And it has generally taken most of Klopps signings 3-6 months to adapt and get a decent run of games, so i would expect the same with Werner.

Any idea what’s going to happen with Harry Wilson now that Bournemouth have been relegated? Will we look to find a club in the prem to loan him too or leave him with Bournemouth? Or could he potentially see some time with our first team as more of a cover player?

Justinho

1.) 27 Jul 2020 21:32:09
I was hoping Bournemouth would stay up and buy him, they still might! He needs to move on imo.

2.) 27 Jul 2020 21:27:20
OP like Grujic, he is expected to be sold.

3.) 28 Jul 2020 07:19:12
He's had an underwhelming season so can't imagine his value is anything more than £10-15 million.

04 Nov 2017 17:27:34
Hey Ed's, considering the struggles at CB why has Joe Gomez not received another shot at the position?

Justinho

{Ed001's Note - because he is gaining experience at right back first.}

1.) 04 Nov 2017 17:57:04
I expect Gomez will get a shot at CB once Clyne is fit. I don't think Klopp wants to rely on TAA as his starting RB yet.

2.) 04 Nov 2017 19:26:31
I honestly don’t think Gomez is ready to play CB yet, I think he’s better off playing at right back for this season at least.

3.) 04 Nov 2017 19:34:24
Don't think Gomez is good enough at all in any position.

4.) 04 Nov 2017 19:59:08
Gerry, I disagree. Gomez is not the finished article yet BUT he is growing and learning in every game and I think with time, he will be a very good CB. He needs to be playing regularly to get more experience as he is only a kid and at that age, playing is more important than where you play cos that is the only way he will learn.

5.) 04 Nov 2017 20:27:32
Remember Carra.
Was used as left and right back, gained experience then became a monster CB. that's the way sometimes if you're going to create a great CB.

6.) 04 Nov 2017 22:10:07
Clyne won’t be getting back in the team while Gomez is fit.

7.) 04 Nov 2017 23:26:24
Carra was a very accomplished footballer who could play midfield, full back and centre half at a high level,

This lead to him being frustrated at international level as the managers loved him in the squad as he could cover all them positions but not nail down one definite one for himself,

Top player,

8.) 05 Nov 2017 00:15:08
isnt Gomez only 20 yrs old, I think he is doing really well, how can anyone put him down .

9.) 05 Nov 2017 06:25:51
Gomez is 20yrs old and coming back from a major injury lay off. He is going to be a great player for us.

Hi Eds,

First time poster, just curious what your thoughts are on the idea that Liverpool are resisting selling Couts until our CL qualifier? Any legs too it or just bollocks?

Justinho

{Ed025's Note - i dont think the CL qualifier has anything to do with it mate..

We missed out on Brandt a couple years ago now over demands for assured playing time and our backup signing ended up being some Egyptian lad named Mo Salah. Hopefully Klopp can show his quality in signing the right players again.
