Eds quick questions if you don't mind. Last year there was all the talk of our loanees having to play 75% of games (if I remember correctly) . With those players who didn't play that amount, is there any financial (or otherwise) penalties if the loaning club didn't fulfill their end of the deal. Just curious to be honest! Thanks.

IrishAl

{Ed002's Note - No, if the don't play the club would take them back and loan them elsewhere if they wanted to.}

So it would appear that so far the man who is paid millions of pounds to coach our team knows more than all the armchair fans. who'd have thought it! 😏.

Ed002 if you're around. I saw you mention how you felt the club have made a mess of transfers this summer. This actually answered a question I was going to ask, on the back of the club pulling out of the Lucas deal, how much more damage might it do to the clubs reputation.

To me it also highlights the clear lack of strategy and planning with regards to transfers the club has. They clearly tried to prevent another balotelli, last minute situation again so got incomings done relatively quickly. This was a positive but there seemed to be no concentration or plan for outgoings until all incomings had been done.

To me it just feels a bit like the club is fire fighting and are struggling to put a long term strategy in place that will actually work. It's almost like they are getting new advice to counteract the old advice and with no one actually sitting down and saying "Hold On, let's get a clear perspective here of the steps that need to be implemented and when to implement them in order for a sustainable strategy to work long term".

The owners seem to really be trying their best to do right by the club, maybe they are just out of their depth.

I hope not and that some wonderful policy is working really effectively behind the scenes and that the review recommendations were feasible and will be implemented for the long term sustainability of the club.

Are there signs that the commercial changes made are actually working? Do you feel that club is on the right track?

Any comments from eds or posters are welcome.

{Ed002's Note - Reutation is generally impacted by not dealing well with other clubs - Lucas won't make it any worse. I expect Liverpool to look to raise money in January and to get loans to buy completed before the end of June.

I don't see the club as on the right track just striking lucky with a TV deal that will boost its value. Buying the way they have been with debt growing and the ground work to pay for - it seems like financial mismanagment.}

It honestly amazes me how people can claim we were terrible last night! The team worked so much better as a unit then most of last year and while we did concede possession and retreat in the second half, there was absolutely no way we could have maintained the pressure we were putting on them, for the whole match. We had 3 players making their first starts of the season!

Let's put some perspective on this. we've now played two teams away who last season between them scored 10 goals in those two matches. we have conceded none and got 4 points. Only a complete imbecile would say we haven't improved!

we did concede though didn't we. twice,and got 2 attrocious reffing decisions,then we got another 1 at the other end. Could it get much worse performance wise than last year? Not really. We WERE terrible in the second half. I feel too many have been watching Carraghers abysmal analysis last night and have the rose tints on.

You don't have to maintain the pressure throughout the entire 90,but you certainly don't have to sit on a 0-0 draw with 10 men behind the ball,at least when cheslea do sit,they have the audacity to go 1-0 in front.

2.) 25 Aug 2015 15:10:36
Bobatron, if we went offensively in that sencond half, we would have conceded, our game plan was to hit them early and that was in the first half. We where unlucky to get a couple of goals and they were unlucky to have one which was wrongly disallowed. In the second half everyone knew arsenal would come out playing fluent football and they did, they played quite well around our box, and if they did that with less lfc players defending they would have easily scored. Second half was about being solid defensively away at the Emirates a place we hardly ever get positive results from. Emirates and Stamford bridge are two places where a draw is like a win for us. We never do well at these grounds. So stop with the nonsense. We do not have the strength and the tactical prowess (mourinho) of Chelsea to pull of 1-0 results like that.

3.) 25 Aug 2015 16:22:19
We allowed them to play that football though. we offerd them so much room to operate. You don't have to maintain the work rate the entire 90 minutes. Also if you want to see out a game,the best thing you can do is control the ball and the tempo. Simply giving up posession was not part of the plan arsenal forced that because we were so deep and unable to get out of our half due to Benteke being so isolated. Both teams were unlucky not to score more I agree,but once again re iterate.One team scored. it wasn't us

4.) 25 Aug 2015 22:43:45
so we were so poor in the second half Bob. how many goals did we concede? Exactly none. Arsenal have some of the best attacking players in the league and they couldn't break us down.

Our defending has been our Achilles heal since BR took over and arsenal have regularly scored against us. We need solidity and we're getting it. Everyone played to the system last night and we didn't concede. I saw a post earlier where you were talking about the penalty they should have had, but you seem to forget the rugby tackle on benteke at the same time.

You've clearly pinned your colours to the mast that BR can do no good and you are unwilling to be open to seeing improvement when it's clearly there. I wanted him gone at the end of the season and I'm still not sure if he's the man to bring us forward but how many times last year did we hear people on here say "I don't want him sacked but he needs to learn". well maybe he is!

We're definitely not playing as well as we could or as well as we might hope but given who everyone else has started, I'll take where we're at right now

5.) 26 Aug 2015 01:25:38
We should never have sat deep and allowed them to come on to us as much as we did because it almost cost us and doing that, plays right into their hands. Lessons need to be learnt even after having a good result away at a rival's ground.

6.) 26 Aug 2015 10:30:49
i think that's exactly it redohio, the management staff do "seem" to be learning. sometimes by consequence more than by design but learning all the same. I honestly didn't expect to see such a strong influence from the back room staff as quickly as we have!

Who knows. maybe even Skertal will learn and become a better team player!

Apparently Sakho been offered a new contract? Jesus eds are things actually as "all over the shop" at the club as they look right now?

"Let's sell him. oh, we can't get enough. let's offer him a new contract with more dosh"

What the hell is actually going on

No comparison with Andy Carroll. Benteke has actually scored consistently in the PL! None of us know if he will be a success or not but writing a player off before he has even signed on the dotted line. makes me wonder what the hell happened to the "proper" Liverpool fans who actually gave a player a chance!

FranklyMrShankly we will not lose all those matches if we line up like we did in the first two matches. people need to get a grip. Only one team has gone unbeaten in the league. teams lose, it happens.

The goal was not bad luck. It was a stupid foul by Milner followed by Lucas going to sleep at the back post added to terrible positioning by Migs. We are an absolute shambles at defending set pieces.
