After this furlough saga I feel like I don't know my club anymore. Utterly ashamed of LFCs, our owners and this whole scenario.

OP, they say the first thing to do when you are in a hole (in this case a giant PR hole) is to STOP digging. Apparently, the club board did not get the memo. In addition to the giant fiasco they have created for themselves with this furloughed workers schstick, they just announced they would not refund Athletico fans who did not go to Anfield due to the COVD19 Pandemic. like you, I don't know what insect bit this club cos they are just doing bat-crap crazy stuff and it doesn't look to end anytime soon with these bone-head decisions.

Speaking as somebody who’s still going to work everyday and risking health to provide service to others, I’m happy the staff of LFC are now somewhat safer.
The economics are a separate issue that I personally won’t touch on, but the chances are there are a lot of LFC employees who really don’t want to return to work until this over.
However I’m not sure if the employees have still been going to work, or if they’ve mostly been working from home.
Not looking for a row, just glad people are safe (r) .

They've just reversed the decision and apologised.

Shame they made the decision in the first place but better make the right decision late rather than not at all.

{Ed025's Note - dead right RD..

Not a Liverpool related subject per se but i'd like your thoughts on this guys.

I recently listened to a radio call in whilst sat at work and a suggestion was put forward by a caller which i thought was excellent.

The Community Shield (previously known as The Charity Shield) has been regarded as a pre-season trophy, the idea was to turn the Shield into a competition which would include The Champions of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

My format would be the Norther Irish would play one of the English or Scottish champions in the first game then the winners would play a final whilst the other teams play a third/ fourth place game.

Whilst being a pre-season mini tournement it would give the likes of the Welsh and Northern Irish teams coverage and much needed revenue. It would also give the Community Shield a bit more prestige.

Whats the Ed's and my fellow posters thoughts on this?

I think it's a great idea but it would be dominated by the English Teams.

2.) 13 Feb 2020 12:17:08
You might as well give the trophy to the English team, and no point of the first game either, Celtic against the english champion and that's it and the English champion winning it.

3.) 13 Feb 2020 12:45:58
Keep it as it is but proceeding the game could be a charity game i. e. war vets or a homeless supported team. Give something back to those less fortunate and actually support local communities, hence its name. Although I appreciate the charity name had to be dropped as there wasn't sufficient funds donated!

4.) 13 Feb 2020 15:14:38
And where would the time for all this come from? Expanding the duration of the Charity Shield? Unless you'd like all the kids to play in it during the summer when the seniors are away in other competitions or their holidays? Keep it as it is. Simple and clean. And it's for a worthy cause. If something is not broken, why fix it?

5.) 13 Feb 2020 19:07:14
I think it's a good idea. And I wouldn't be writing celtic off. Yes their league isn't as competitive as ours. But if Rochdale can beat utd, or give them a decent game, if shrewsbury can give the pool a good game then celtic certainly can. Of course the English team would be favourite, but celtic are a decent side and rangers and the dons can play too.

6.) 13 Feb 2020 19:38:30
I think itd be cool if it was 5-aside and all be fine in half a day.

7.) 13 Feb 2020 23:35:55
I know there's no time and it would never work, but I'd love to see a rep team from each of the big leagues. So, a summer where there's no footy we see a team made up of the best player in each position from that league, regardless of nationality.

8.) 14 Feb 2020 00:35:24
So that'd be Liverpool with Kevin de bryne.

12 Feb 2020 11:54:05
There is a lot of talk about Werner who, i personally see moving to Bayern. We are clearly in the market for another forward and i wondered would Kevin Volland be a suitable option?

Not good enough and almost the same age as the superstars we will eventually need to replace - a pointless transfer.
My pick would be Lautaro Martinez, as unlikely as it would be. Superb player.

2.) 12 Feb 2020 13:41:17
Fair enough pal, appreciate your opinion.

3.) 12 Feb 2020 13:34:00
Move on chaps no interest in Werner he won’t come to sit on the bench anyway as Ed002 has pointed out on the rumours page.

4.) 12 Feb 2020 19:45:43
If Liverpool play 60 games next season and we add Timo Werner to the front 3 and rotate them they would all get to play 45 games. I really don't see a problem adding another top forward.

{Ed002's Note - So Salah gets a hat trick and is then dropped? Brilliant idea.}

5.) 12 Feb 2020 20:34:48
Dries Mertens.

6.) 12 Feb 2020 20:01:03
Bit of a silly remark Ed 2 that would only be an issue if the entire front 3 scored a hattrick because if Salah scored ahattrick someone else would go on the bench and iff the front three all scored a hattrick then player 4 would definitely not expect to start.

{Ed002's Note - So your plan is the random replacement of players. Maybe Klopp is that stupid - we’ll see.}

7.) 12 Feb 2020 22:00:55
Rigidly rotating 4 into 3 (as a stat of 45 out of 60 would suggest) works in Football Manager. It might work in real life until someone's turn to miss out falls on a day that's perceived to be more important than another (away trip to a title rival, CL semi, so on), or if players feel it's disrupting their rhythm.

If you look at stats, Klopp doesn't rotate the front three in the CL and PL unless he really has to. Salah and Mane had 49 starts each last season out of 53 games (Bobby started less but he had a couple of niggles iirc) . And they're clearly able to perform whilst playing that much. Salah actually came off the bench in 3 of the 4 games he didn't start, too. The only time he didn't play at all was the 2nd leg against Barcelona because of concussion.

An established front 3 with respectable quality on the bench and as backup (Origi, Shaq, Minamino) is working well for us at the moment. I'd say it's best not to disrupt it.

8.) 13 Feb 2020 03:33:57
It's very rare to see any teams who have success operate with regular rotation. A winning formula comes from a settled, confident, well gelled group of players who don't need unnecessary disruption or tinkering.

9.) 14 Feb 2020 10:26:08
Bring in Timo Werner. Slot him in the CF position. Move Firmino back to the AM position, and give him instructions to continue doing what he does now but with 30% more involvement in the midfield (pressing and moving the ball around) . Mane and Salah stay where they are. And then watch the team run riot over everyone. Teams would be out of their wits with not knowing whom to place 2 defenders on.

It’s not balanced when you aren’t allowing people to have a separate opinion to yours. Also, I asked a question that was are you satisfied with yesterdays result?

But hey I’m apparently the one ‘twisting things’. Carry on throwing your weight about because your an editor.

Also, what has my mother got to do with this? She passed away some years ago so she won’t be along to put my toys away. Ta for that reminder though.

Im Sam

{Ed001's Note - are your posts being deleted? No, so how am I not allowing you to have an opinion? Sometimes I just give up, people like you whine whenever anyone disagrees and claim that your opinion is not being allowed because someone is replying to it! It is embarrassing. This is why I don't bother with this site, too many babies who can't take anyone disagreeing with them because only they are allowed an opinion and anyone disagreeing is stopping them having one.

It obviously escaped your notice that I was the one asked for my opinion, not you. So when you whine about no one allowed a separate opinion, you might want to remember you were the one throwing the fit because you disagreed with what I answered in reply to being asked my opinion. The only person whose opinion is being shut down is mine because you disagree with it.

I have answered that already, I am just not a spoilt child throwing my toys around because the result wasn't the one I wanted.

As for the rest, throwing my weight around? If I was doing that I would be deleting your posts.

As for the end bit, I don't believe a word you said, sorry. I don't know you and you could easily be trying to play for sympathy. This is the internet, I have no reason to trust you.}

So you think it’s completely okay yesterdays performance? We should be satisfied with conceding 3 terrible goals and losing more ground at the top? Sorry but my expectations are a little bit higher than that, no offence.

Im Sam

{Ed001's Note - did anyone say that? This is the problem with people on here, they twist everything to try and pretend they are right to only whine rather than put forth a balanced opinion. I am done, pointless this is. Whine away, mummy will be along later to put your toys away I am sure, but don't bother me again.}

No need to call people arrogant because they have a different view to you Ed. I personally don't agree, when we’re conceding 3 at home to Brighton that's a concern. We didn’t learn from the first goal, boarder line shambolic and quite worrying. Trent may need a break once Ramsay is fit, the mass hysteria over his England exodus and his ‘defending’ looks to have mentally shattered him. I agree on Matip though, he looked pedestrian.

Im Sam

{Ed001's Note - it is arrogance though. Arrogant self-entitlement, this site is awash with it. Not one bit of context about the opposition, not one admittal that Brighton did well. Just whining about how we were terrible and not giving the slightest bit of credit to the opposition. It is embarrassing.}
