Soo, Macca posted about Nunez and Osimhen, but news now is we've turned our attention to the Sporting striker because of Osimhen's wage demands. let's just say i am not shocked. At all actually. Also doubt we have any chance to sign Gyokeres either, the same guy who probably have had contract offers from Chelsea, Man Utd and others already. Unless he's a huge Liverpool fan that is.

Fiskesprett.

1.) 17 Jan 2025 18:14:37
Sorry as believable as that sounds, could you post the source? Surely we would’ve already been aware of Osimhen’s salary (or at least had a rough idea) before deciding to target him? Flip flopping again like the summer we are ??.

2.) 17 Jan 2025 18:55:22
I read it on a website that's based in Dubai, which is pretty reliable, they say he's Chelsea bound and that he's a huge Chelsea fan. Imagine being a huge Chelsea fan and ask them for 400k a week in the summer, but that negotiations with them never stopped. The article goes on to say we never contacted Napoli or his agent and that we are trying to see if Sporting are willing to negotiate Gyokeres's release clause. Now i am not saying this article is gospel or anything but i usually trust their reports based on arabic or african players because their news is straight from the horse's mouth pr. se. F. eks they were the 1st to report Marmoush to City in late November.

I think Nunez stays and we sign nobody. But that's just my pessimistic take because i mean come on, we're owned by Fenway Sports Group, the same group getting booed in official meet and greats with their own fans (red sox) its actually hilarious, you should check it out.

{Ed001's Note - they are correct about Osimhen being a Chelsea fan.}

3.) 17 Jan 2025 18:52:46
Osimhens wages were 400grand when Chelsea wanted him…. we ain’t paying that.

4.) 17 Jan 2025 19:27:06
I don't think we're getting anyone personally, This whole 3 contract saga is a mess and we wheel out the same narrative every single window, Its high time we actually acted like a big club when it comes to the squad.

5.) 17 Jan 2025 20:33:45
Cant believe anyone seriously believed we’d be seriously in with a shout of Osimhen and Kara whatever he’s called. Our owners are frugal to the point of being parsimonious, no way they’re green lighting any of those without a big sale. Osimhen in particular is a no go due to his wages and outrageous agent demands. It was £500k pw not £400k pw he was asking for. Do you think FSG are sanctioning that? Not while there’s contract disputes ongoing.

Unless we sell Nunez there’s not going to be any forwards coming in and even then I suspect we’d find a way to contrive to mess it up and leave ourselves short, because if any team knows how to self sabotage, it’s us.

I’d also go as far as saying that I reckon next summer will be minimalist as well as the senior management will probably consider that if the squad is good enough to win a title or finish top four then there’s no need to make many changes, if any at all. Don’t say that won’t happen, as it did before.

6.) 17 Jan 2025 21:14:27
ViktorVaughan I think Hughes has been bought in to replicate what he has achieved at Bournmouth, with a slightly higher budget. The Fabinho type signing at around 40m who goes on to be a world class addition is the hope.

I don't doubt that we would buy a Caicedo priced player, should they be available, but so many factors are a barrier to that level of signing, as they should be using Darwin as an example.

IF we had Caicedo now, I feel we would be running away with the league, but he chose CFC and that's that.

7.) 17 Jan 2025 22:07:22
how can you even write that Viktor? You're telling me If Salah, Van Dijk and Trent leave we're not going to replace them? Seriously dude, give it a rest, we signed Szoboszlai, Macca and Gravenberch in one window. You take it to an extreme which makes it very difficult to take you seriously, i honestly thought you were trolling at one point.

8.) 17 Jan 2025 22:25:24
Vango, genuinely think that we’re going to have a very quiet time transfer wise. Even if Arnold, Salah and Van Dijk leave, maybe a free transfer or two, but no significant spending. FSG are doing the same with the Red Sox and Penguins. As long as we can just about qualify for the champions league then we won’t do much.

9.) 17 Jan 2025 22:38:09
Honestly I don’t want Osimhen or Gyokeres or that young Greek lad.
Osimhen is MASSIVELY over rated - he’s an average footballer and will be a massive waste for Chelsea.

Gyokeres is just not good enough for the premier league. You need pace or incredible positional sense. He hasn’t got either - average but doing well in a pub league.

The Greek lad is behind Danns for me.

Pay the money for Cunha or keep your powder dry.

10.) 17 Jan 2025 22:40:14
Thing is there’s a number of central midfield Caicedo quality players in the world, and none of them play for us and they will be available - at the right price. Everything has a price.

There’s even more who are slightly below Caicedo level, but still better than what we have, where the same applies.

The owners and board recruit the CEO, they recruit the directors, that’s how it works. If the directors aren’t delivering what they want they’ll be gone.

If at the end of the season we finish second, third or fourth, having bought no one better in the key positions in two windows, and the directors are still in the same positions that’ll tell us they’re doing what’s required of them.

{Ed001's Note - Caicedo isn't top level. Without Lavia Chelsea struggle, Caicedo is a step below him.}

11.) 17 Jan 2025 22:57:28
Weren’t we after him for a stretch as well Ed…That was pre the observation panel though, which tells us something. You teed that up nicely.

{Ed001's Note - we certainly tried to sign him.}

12.) 17 Jan 2025 23:16:19
Lavia getting injured again and Chelsea form dipping is no coincidence.

13.) 18 Jan 2025 00:41:32
I like what little I've seen of Lavia. Caceido looks rash to me and that's being polite.

14.) 18 Jan 2025 05:59:56
People really need to check accounts before doing their fsg bashing. We posted our second year of losses in a row, neither year breaks psr but it does take much to do it. This is exactly why we can't just buy whoever we want and need to sell to buy

Next season we should have more money to spend thanks to slot doing well in the champions league.

15.) 18 Jan 2025 06:13:07
Agree with Ron.

We are sitting in a position where we can be champions of England, and even have a great run in the CL.

If we're serious about this, then go get Cunha, or at least Isak.

These are PL proven players who will take us to the next level

But we find ourselves dilly dallying around people like Osimhen. who surely those in charge are aware of his wage demands, so WHY WASTE OUR TIME WITH HIM?

Ideally, imo, either a CB or DM alongside Grav, and then Cunha/ Isak in this window and I think that will get us over the line wrt winning the league.

16.) 18 Jan 2025 07:27:32
Yea just go buy Isak or Cunha mid season, its that easy isn't it.

17.) 18 Jan 2025 08:07:19
It’s been said a lot Nevada so all fans know, and it’s true, that we have been making losses for a few years.
We have some headroom, but we’re not sure as fans quite how much, against PSR rules which would allow us to make a buy or several buys depending on the prices and wages.

We all understand it I think.

The frustration with the ownership is (there’s a perception) that the headroom they require us to operate with against PSR is greater than our competitors. They want a bigger buffer because they’re more risk averse, or prefer to keep that capacity untapped.

We don’t know because we’re not in the board room, but if that’s true it makes it harder for us to compete for new players, or upgrade the contracts of existing players.

The knock on impact means of course it’s harder to compete on the pitch ultimately, unless you have a genius manager and an injury free top 14 squad who can eek out amazing results for full seasons. That’s where Arne and Jurgen come into the picture.

We are well run though in the very commercial sense, no doubt about it.

I personally don’t think it’s all about the owners. I think our headroom has been restricted by poor contractual decisions in recent years like giving high contracts to injury prone players, although hopefully those days are behind us, and a few indifferent buys like Nunez have left us with less room to manoeuvre. Missing Champions League was big as well. All that means is the current transfer and contract approach has to be spot on, we’re not feeling it at the moment.

18.) 18 Jan 2025 13:15:14
The reason why Liverpool will probably not make any signings is because our squad is virtually maxed out when it comes to the Premier League 25 man squad rules. Currently we have 16 non-homegrown players on the books which includes Marmadasvilli. Clubs are only allowed to register 17 non-homegrown players. Our 8 homegrown spots are filled as well so if we don't make any signings in January it won't be because the club does not want to buy players.

It is more likely that Slot will review exactly what he needs in the summer and then whoever he feels needs to go will be replaced pending if those players can be sold. The club cannot make use of players which are not allowed to be registered.

{Ed001's Note - nonsense, they have spaces in the squad.}

19.) 18 Jan 2025 13:36:10
It’ll be back to normal next season when city spend another suitcase full of money and we ponder if or not to buy anyone.
The club is obviously too big for FSG now so it’s about time they looked at selling.
The contract situation is embarrassing to say the least and I for one am convinced all 3 will go in the summer.

20.) 18 Jan 2025 14:04:04
At the moment we have two spaces. Currently 15 registered non-homegrown players. Alisson, Virgil, Robertson, Konate, Tsimikas, Endo, Gravy, Macca, Szobo, Diaz, Salah, Gakpo, Chiesa, Nunez and Jota. Marmadasvilli already occupies a spot for next season which makes it 16 non-homegrown players on the books. The club is not going to use Marmadasvilli's spot as we will have to sell a player because he can't be used. So, only really one spot available. Our 8 homegrown spots are filled too. Jaros, Quansah, Elliot, Jones, Kelleher, Morton, Bradley and Gomez.

{Ed001's Note - and a lot of those will move before the summer.}

21.) 18 Jan 2025 14:55:30
Why. We making losses then?

22.) 19 Jan 2025 09:18:23
gyokeres has no pace or positional sense? have you actually seen him play or just making stuff up about him because he's a muscular lad who doesn't look as fast and mobile as he is?

09 Jan 2025 19:23:35
Ornstein reporting that we are following Kvaradona's situation if he was to move this window.

Fiskesprett.

1.) 09 Jan 2025 19:44:35
Can he play Jones’ position?

2.) 09 Jan 2025 19:57:06
Following situations FC.

3.) 09 Jan 2025 19:57:36
What would it take to get him -£90m and £250k a week wages? If we sell Doak, Nunez, Elliott, Chiesa, probably could do it, but would we pay those wages to one player if we won’t pay Trent who’s a similar age. Same with Osimhen, or would he cost more.

4.) 09 Jan 2025 20:09:42
If they want silly wages, goto the farmers league and play for PSG or the Saudi's.
He'd surely choose us over CFC and PSG.

I reckon Diaz is unlikely to renew and will be 30 when his contract endd. Nunez is likely off, and Napoli like Chiesa.

Edwards / Hughes masterclass?

5.) 09 Jan 2025 20:10:44
Imagine if our attacking options next year were salah, Diaz, Gakpo, Kvara, Cunha.

6.) 09 Jan 2025 20:21:29
That’s what we need. A left winger ?.

7.) 09 Jan 2025 20:29:36
Monitoring FC.

8.) 09 Jan 2025 21:52:40
Another left winger? Only if Diaz is off I imagine.

9.) 09 Jan 2025 21:24:39
Why do people think we have no money?

10.) 09 Jan 2025 21:29:35
We truly are in silly season. It’s not going to happen, it’ll be a very quiet window with outgoings only.

11.) 09 Jan 2025 21:34:03
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is definitely top top top quality! I have been mentioning him for at least 2 yrs! He ran us ragged the last time we got wacked 4-1 by Napoli.

12.) 09 Jan 2025 21:56:22
Aren’t we focussed on a defender either LB or LCB or someone who can play both positions and then a (D) CM?

13.) 09 Jan 2025 22:48:52
He can play anywhere

He is Kvaradona.

14.) 10 Jan 2025 00:18:08
About £65m and 150k a week I’d say. Keep Diaz central and move on Jota/ Darwin.

15.) 10 Jan 2025 01:36:20
Maybe he's going to be the next lb then? If hughes signs a forward when we need a cb/ lb/ midfielder then. only god can help us.

16.) 10 Jan 2025 06:17:53
I said it last window.

Only good thing about the valencia goal keeper (marma) signing (0.1%) is if we can attract this guy like a magnet. :-)

17.) 10 Jan 2025 07:10:45
Hey guys, i see a lot whining about we need DM, we need LB, we CB.

You have no idea about Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. If Liverpool has Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, signing a CB, LB, DM become in consequential. Because the oppossing team will be ones busy defending Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

18.) 10 Jan 2025 08:58:16
Footyfan seems it makes it easier to moan.

19.) 10 Jan 2025 09:17:14
To be fair, Kvaradonna plays as a false 9 for Georgia and at times for Napoli too. He’s bloody good at it too. His hold up play is insane. You cannot get the ball off the bloke. So you could argue he’d phase out Nunez/ Jota and also allow Diaz to move back out wide.

20.) 10 Jan 2025 09:44:00
All the talk of Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia is daft to the point of delusion. There’s no real world situation where under our current ownership, either or both of them join this month or even next summer. Osimhen will probably either end up at Chelsea, Arsenal, United or Saudi, because of the money side of things, and rumours are that Kvaratskhelia is in talks with PSG, so he’ll likely go there as they can afford the transfer fee and wages with no issues. Either way, we’re extremely unlikely to be in the conversation for those players when they do actually move. It’s as delusional as thinking we’d actually sign Mbappe or Bellingham.

21.) 10 Jan 2025 10:10:12
If it was as delusional as you think the likes of ornstein and macca wouldn't be coming out to share information, viktor. maybe you shouldn't waste so much energy coming out to pooh pooh rumours, it's not like anybody is saying they are nailed on at this point.

22.) 10 Jan 2025 10:43:36
@Lee so you’re saying that KK has never lost a game that he’s played in eh?

23.) 10 Jan 2025 11:02:21
Dreamland fc.

24.) 10 Jan 2025 11:11:36
It’s nice to be excited and hopeful during this period in the New Year. Let’s hope there’s some substance in there.

Let’s be honest if there aren’t reinforcements, particularly at the back and midfield, and we lose a few games the heat will turn up. We will have Szob back though so that will help.

Given the way we work I think there may be outgoings in Doak and Elliott, but I doubt any incomings before Forest or Brentford. Probably harder to shift Nunez because of restrictions in Saudi and would he go, and Chiesa because of his injury record we’d have to take a hit, but that may unlock everything.

If we lose or only get one point across those games I think there will be so much pressure to act before the end of the window we may then get one or two coming in. As for the contracts who knows, it’s gone quiet again.

27 Dec 2024 21:23:21
News coming out that Salah is staying until 2028! Fingers crossed its true, If he starts declining we can always sell him to Saudi Arabia, he'll always be wanted there. In other good news Bruno Fernandes is not suspended for the game against ?.

Fiskesprett.

1.) 27 Dec 2024 23:10:48
Yeah we just click the sell button when he has a couple of bad games.

2.) 27 Dec 2024 23:47:31
Fingers crossed Fisk.

The only source I could find online is Fichajes who are notoriously gossipy!

Have you seen anything more concrete?

3.) 28 Dec 2024 01:53:07
Agree with WDW3, showing your class there Fingermouse.

4.) 28 Dec 2024 09:31:32
Thats not what was said. I just mentioned it to those who care about money, as I don't care, 50% of people on here wanted to give him a one year contract in case he dropped off, if you search my posts you will see one from August where I say give him what he wants as he will only get better i knew what I was talking about. wwmmw3 i am quiet frankly so sick of your virtue signaling, only people with skeletons in thier closet virtue signal this hard. Next time you see me post why don't just kindly just not respond? I am not reading any rubbish you post!

Seriously you have problems! Jog on!

5.) 28 Dec 2024 09:57:10
Its being reported in Egyptian media zeddius but obviously it doesn't mean its true. Just getting desperate at this point, in 3 days they can officially start negotiations with other clubs.

6.) 28 Dec 2024 12:00:48
@Fisk, be calm, you don’t have to explain yourself.

7.) 28 Dec 2024 12:20:32
Who is getting desperate?

8.) 28 Dec 2024 15:30:15
I know this fella in my local @Flash, big bloke with a huge chin, I think his name might be Dan.

I like the idea of ‘news coming out’ which actually equates to an angler casting a line on social media.

9.) 28 Dec 2024 19:46:06
Does he have a penchant for large pies with steer horns mounted on them WDW?

10.) 29 Dec 2024 01:34:53
He does, do you know him too?

11.) 29 Dec 2024 06:56:36
ED25, the notion any player with 2 years or less or their current deals should be rewarded with a new contract is insane.
Neither Trent salah or vvd until this season have done anything the previous 2 seasons to suggest they deserved bumper new deals, in-fact I bet at least 70% of the fanbase were happy to see them all move on.
I’d like to see who will offer vvd or salah better deals than what they are currently on at their age from a team able to offer them a higher chance of success.
Great negotiating tactics from the club in my opinion, let them see what’s on offer elsewhere and when it doesn’t appear then sign what’s been offered, look at the examples/ mistakes made by other clubs tying aging players down to long contracts on massive wages and watch their levels drop off and then being stuck with them unable to move them on, it creates a toxic atmosphere, at their age I wouldn’t be offering anything more than 1 year contracts, if they are that confident they can keep their levels then it shouldn’t be an issue for either party, but it’s on the player not the club to prove they deserve an extension, 1 decent half season in 3 full seasons doesn’t justify brand new shiny 3 year deals, let’s face it that’s all it is so far 1 decent half season in 3.

{Ed025's Note - the problem is Jaydee that to replace them 3 could cost in the region of £300m mate and you will still have to pay a similar wage, i think you are underestimating how good Salah and VVD have been and Trent (even though im not his biggest fan) will be very sought after if he came on the market, for me its about protecting your assets and i dont think LFC have done the best job when it comes to these 3, you obviously think different...and thats fine..

21 Oct 2024 17:58:27
On another note i see Van Dijk has mentioned that discussions with the club had started about a new deal! Hopefully we get this one over the line, he is so important to us!

Fiskesprett.

1.) 21 Oct 2024 18:35:16
Fingers crossed. Better late than never I suppose.

2.) 21 Oct 2024 18:39:26
And so it shall begin. Club and player sizing each other up, seeing how levels/ motivation/ ambition/ new coach business unfold, and now the players know that Arne is a good manager and that the reds will be there or there abouts, contract talks begin.
Obviously there could be twists and turns If Real, Barcelona and Bayern throw their hats in the ring, but this is the best league, and for the seniors, legends can be made and set in stone for generations to come.
Mo will surely end up at least 4th highest scorer ever in the prem.

3.) 21 Oct 2024 20:24:15
I hope Salah focuses more on breaking records than money. He gets paid handsomely already.

4.) 21 Oct 2024 21:29:35
How’s it late? There are 9 months left until June 2025.

5.) 21 Oct 2024 23:51:47
Any elite player that has seen how Mane and Benzema are getting on over there will be put off. Mo can goto the MLS at 35 like messi did, as can Virgil. Trent can goto the MLS at 35 when he's become the most creative full back in world football. of all time. Plenty of cash available in the MLS, better crowds and a more balanced lifestyle than in 50 degree heat all year round.

6.) 22 Oct 2024 17:07:33
If all 3 sign a new contract I guarantee you right now that there will be posts about how our aging squad needs looking at, about Trent not being good enough defensively and about the people running the club being incompetent for giving big money contracts to people in their 30's.

I'll be here for it as always. It's a good laugh if nothing else.

7.) 22 Oct 2024 18:45:47
Spot on @MK. I think the first cab off the rank, if they all stay will be VVD. Assuming his contract extension would come into effect on July 1st 2025 he will turn 34 a week later. I read somewhere that he’s aiming to play in the World Cup in 2026 which will make him 35 - be interesting to see the feedback from the fans if his form has dropped a notch or two by then.

8.) 22 Oct 2024 22:14:59
You know it’s coming MK ?.

9.) 23 Oct 2024 05:09:27
Keep telling us how losing 3 of our best players is fine MK, impress everyone with your superior footballing knowledge.

10.) 23 Oct 2024 05:24:03
losing all at the same time would def be problematic - if only for the hit to the club culture. Much better if its spaced out to alleviate the impact. But eventually like all top players they will drive off into the sunset in their overly expensive cars ;-)

11.) 23 Oct 2024 07:29:04
All 3 will sign, worry about how slow and crap they'll be in a coupla years in a. couple of years! As of right now this minute there's an argument all 3 are the best in the league in their position, we need them.

12.) 23 Oct 2024 08:26:49
I very much doubt there will be complaints if the 3 all sign. Especially if the squad is added to at the same time.

Of course it’s late to begin talks now, talks should have happened 2 years ago. I think the club has woken up hence the deals being discussed for some of the younger players.

13.) 23 Oct 2024 10:15:23
Time for Salah to go unless he is willing to reduce wages massively on a 2 year deal. Virg can play another few years and we have to try and keep Trent.

14.) 23 Oct 2024 16:16:05
Seano, I've been consistent from day one on that topic. I want all 3 to stay and I do not believe all 3 will leave. However if any or all of them do leave, I think we're financially in a strong enough position to replace them.

I'm simply laughing at how quickly the threads on here went from "Salah should be sold to Saudi as he's lost his pace, Virgil is not a leader plus he's in decline, and Trent is lazy plus he can't defend" to "they're 3 of our best players and we'll fall apart if they leave".

If your opinion is consistent, I respect it regardless of whether I agree with it. Football is subjective so on many topics of debate there is no right or wrong. If your opinion changes with the wind direction though, then I'm sorry but I'm going to enjoy myself laughing at the emotional immaturity of some football supporters.

15.) 23 Oct 2024 21:01:47
@Mark, so if VVD and the other two decide they want to stay and sign new contracts before January or even before June 25 would you say that the contract negotiations started too late?

16.) 27 Oct 2024 07:49:43
MK
It’s just varying opinions from different posters mate, nothing else. We all support the club but not everyone sings from the same hymn sheets. It’s not a surprise.

28 Aug 2024 17:38:31
Liverpool have rejected Leverkusen's Loan bid for Tyler Morton. I wonder what the future holds for him, he is training with the U-21's so i don't think he is considered an option for the 1st team this season.

Fiskesprett.

1.) 28 Aug 2024 18:28:01
He is training with he first team from what I have seen. It's just that he hasn't made the bench yet for us.

2.) 28 Aug 2024 18:33:04
Fall back option in case Rabiot doesn’t happen.

3.) 28 Aug 2024 18:40:45
Leverkusen is allowed to come back with an improved loan bid, no? Or is that no longer allowed?

4.) 28 Aug 2024 19:04:31
Interestingly, Morton mostly came on in the more advanced midfield position in the pre-season games. It was only the Betis game that he played in one of the two deeper positions. Does Slot even view him as a DM?

5.) 28 Aug 2024 20:04:55
He would fit one of the two CM positions we play sure.

6.) 28 Aug 2024 20:48:32
Personally I’d prefer Alan Varela ahead of Rabiot and looks like Rabiot’s going to Milan. Varela and Inacio to add to Chiesa would make it a good window for us ?.

Dear Mr. Slot, can you pretty pretty please rotate the squad for Lille? Salah, Gakpo, Diaz, Macca all look knackered!

Fiskesprett.

1.) 18 Jan 2025 17:50:16
Didn't think Gakpo or Diaz looked knackered.

I wouldn't go mad. I might give Salah a rest as I'd like to see Elliott get some minutes.

The only player I really really hope gets rested is Konate. We need to watch him. He took a good step today in terms of getting back to form. Still well off his best but much improved.

2.) 18 Jan 2025 18:02:57
He won’t.

3.) 18 Jan 2025 18:13:54
I’d use the likes of Chiesa, Elliot, Endo and Bradley for the next game. Give some a rest midweek ready for next weeks PL game.

4.) 18 Jan 2025 19:15:50
I would also give vvd the night off against Lille…. the cl game is not a must win so we need to manage minutes.

Nice one.

2.) 13 Jan 2025 18:56:01
Thanks Fiskesprett.

3.) 13 Jan 2025 18:57:02
Brilliant, thanks Fisk.

I would hope that Doak, Beck and Chambers can be integrated into the first team squad next year - still not taking up senior places given their age.

However, I wonder if any will be sold to make another deal happen?

4.) 13 Jan 2025 19:04:12
Well in fisky lad.

5.) 13 Jan 2025 21:12:27
Thanks Fiskes, very interesting summary. Looks like Beck and Chambers should get a serious look during next preseason for squad places. Disappointing that Bajcetic's numbers are not exactly encouraging compared to the good 8 games he played for the seniors two years ago.

Linjders got fired again? Who would have thought? (And by Klopp no less, since he's the big Boss)

6.) 14 Jan 2025 03:09:59
Thanks Fisk.

7.) 14 Jan 2025 13:41:53
He was fired before Klopp took the reigns but that is pretty hilarious mate.

So i have seen many say we should and could have lost yesterday because of their chance at the end. 100% confirmed offside now so no we actually should have won, we had twice as many big chances as them easily yesterday. But people tend to remember what happens at the end, which again was offside.

On another note I see a lot of dribble about Curtis Jones, yeah he was bad yesterday, but he has 3 goals and 5 assists so far this season, more assists than Macca and Szoboszlai, also same amount of goals! While playing a lot less due to injury. Is he the best player in the world? No, but he is a fantastic squad player who just became a father, which if you're a dad know is not easy. Just 23 and his bad habits can be ironed out with time and more experience, he has incredible ball control and dribbling and if you can't see that then you're really missing out!

As i see it, we need a new LB and CM right now. Move on Tsimikas and Endo if they aren't going to play because we can't persist with Robertson. Don't know what was wrong with Trent yesterday but if that's what to be expected going forward he needs to go before this window closes. Bradley and Gomez to play the RB position. He was walking, literally walking.

Fiskesprett.

1.) 06 Jan 2025 20:03:33
We lost 2-2. I don’t know how, but we did ?.

2.) 06 Jan 2025 20:07:23
There’s frustration I think with Curtis, we’d all love him to succeed and nail down a starting place. He’s talented but rarely consistent enough and goes missing in games, when he builds some momentum and form he often gets injured. He’s got decent physicality and skill, he’s a good squad option but probably not going to ever be a first choice starter like Grav or even Szob (although he gets injured at the wrong times as well) . Good post though Fisk, we need some fresh impetus in the coming weeks and months. That could be from the wider squad or more likely from the market - particularly in the case of the left back situation.

3.) 06 Jan 2025 21:36:13
Liverpool was not on top form at all and really still should’ve won. That tells its own story
Up the pool.

4.) 06 Jan 2025 21:38:22
I know Curtis has assists and goals this season and I’m not negating that- but I think if we see him as a starter then improvements need to be made.

It almost looks as though he doesn’t have a “picture”
Before the ball arrives at his feet.
That means against quality opposition (United were yesterday (cos they were playing us) they be will be all over him and Nick the ball from him.

Gets caught on the ball too many times for my liking.

5.) 06 Jan 2025 23:08:14
I would level the same criticism at McAllister. Whenever he tries to protect the ball near our penalty box, it gets taken off him or he makes a silly mitake. I’m happier when he’s upfield.

6.) 07 Jan 2025 03:16:12
lol with Curtis it was “he needs more production” now he is producing it’s “he needs more consistency”

lol I know it’s both but this boils down for me the ridiculousness of how fans critique some players.

7.) 07 Jan 2025 08:56:43
He does need more consistency, it’s true, but I really want to know when he will get the respect he deserves. This year he has had some absolutely cracking games where the media were rightly heaping praise on him, he got called up to the England squad, started and starred for the team from the off, he’s shown different sides to his game, and he has been a far sight better than media darling number one Phil foden. And yet in some fans’ minds he is nothing more than a mid table player who slows down every build up we have and is outmuscled by every midfielder in the land.

04 Jan 2025 12:08:37
I was hoping the club would surprise us with contracts for Salah, Van Dijk and Trent in December, so they weren't free to speak to other clubs from January. I've come to peace with that they are leaving, so i'll just try to enjoy this last season with those 3 as much as i possibly can. Nothing we can do about it and we don't know what the club is offering or what they want so no reason to speculate. Maybe one or all of them stay in the end but am not keeping my hopes up anymore. So i'll just focus on what could be a very special season, no reason to dread next season already i guess.

Fiskesprett.

1.) 04 Jan 2025 13:40:14
Trent will leave for Madrid and good luck to him. I expect VVD to extend. If not we are in serious trouble next season, he is carrying the defense all by himself. He goes we start shipping goals for fun. Cost of replacing a VVD type defender should be £100 mill bare minimum.
Salah is tricky. He wants big money and the club doesn’t have enough.
What’s the use of stadium expansion and training ground when you can’t keep your best players.

We are heading to an absolute mediocrity of all three departs form next season.

2.) 04 Jan 2025 14:43:35
I seriously doubt that we will be heading into absolute mediocrity if all 3 leave, not with Arne Slot managing the club. You're not Harry's 793rd account by any chance?

3.) 04 Jan 2025 15:02:34
Big Virgil isn’t carrying the defence all by himself. He’s a fantastic player, the best but let's not be disrespectful to other players who have played exceptionally well to put us in the position we are in.

4.) 04 Jan 2025 15:39:54
harrys worst disguise yet.

5.) 04 Jan 2025 15:42:04
"He is carrying the defense all by himself". So Kellerher, Konate, Trent, Robbo/ Tsimikas and Gravenberch are just holograms in and around VVD, right?

"Salah wants big money". Says who?

"We are heading to an absolute mediocrity of all three departs form next season. " What nonsense is this?

Yeah, definitely Harry' 793rd account.

6.) 04 Jan 2025 16:49:20
Poor old Dizzygland, desperate for attention.

7.) 04 Jan 2025 19:02:29
I like dizzygland, made me chuckle, thank you.

03 Jan 2025 11:02:43
Slot confirming Bradley and Konate are back in training!

Just Joe Gomez out atm. Hopefully we get lucky with injuries going forward ?.

Fiskesprett.

1.) 03 Jan 2025 11:44:26
Yeah another hectic month of fixtures, hopefully everybody can stay fit.

2.) 03 Jan 2025 12:05:29
Hopefully they breeze through these training sessions and are ready to contribute to the busy January schedule. We need them!

Unlucky for Joe but 3 weeks is better than months.

If Alisson, Ibou, Bradley, Tsimikas, Curtis and Jota can defy history and stay fit for the remainder of the season then we could really do something special.

3.) 03 Jan 2025 13:21:27
I think Allison, Konate and Jota have had their yearly quota. They'll be very much needed for the rest of the season. Full steam ahead!

4.) 03 Jan 2025 13:23:38
That’s great news on Konate and Bradley and if Gomez is only three weeks for Gomez that is a silver lining as it means he’ll be back by the end of the month in time for the run in.

5.) 03 Jan 2025 15:43:13
Konate might be back in training but is he match fit? They are not the same thing. I hope he is fit for Sunday because he was immense before his injury and I can't wait to see him back!

6.) 03 Jan 2025 18:04:15
Probably not fit to start on Sunday, Good thing is there's 2 cup games in a row to get him and bradley up to speed again.

7.) 04 Jan 2025 03:05:50
To make sure Konate is match fit Shipley, if he's available on Sunday I'd play him for the final 20 and then against Spurs, rest him against Accrington so he's fully fit and ready to go against Forest.

Do you think Villa have dropped off because of Douglas Luiz or the added CL games this season though? I like the look of their midfield with Onana and Kamara tbh.

Douglas Luiz isn't the best CM in the world but he is not rubbish, your posts are though. He had 6 goals and 6 assists, and 9 goals and 5 assists in his last 2 PL seasons, more than any of our midfielder for the last 5-6 years!

Bradley is not a much better defender, where does this notion come from? The kid has played a handful of games and has been at fault for a couple of goals already. He plays as a RW for N. Ireland!

Liverpool don't spend 63% on wages. All our accounts and finances are available and public knowledge if you have the time and understanding to read them. The most we ever spent on wages (whole club not only players) was 58% and since then Fabinho, Milner, Henderson, Keita, Chamberlain and Firmino have all left and been replaced by players who earn a lot less.

I think VAR saw that there was a foul on Gordon 1st before Joeliton fouled Kluivert. Still a stupid decision, not clear and obvious for it to be pulled back.

Fiskesprett.

{Ed001's Note - VAR can't have done as it was not a red card given.}

seems the rules are kind of bent for some teams though, city i can sort of understand with their on the pitch success, but chelsea? they finished 6th and 12th the season before that and looking like they might struggle to finish top 4 this season.

Yeah but only Liverpool has to adhere to ffp, despite playing CL football 8 out of the last 9 years and playing in 3 finals too.

Fiskesprett.

{Ed025's Note - all clubs have to comply Fisk, dont start all that woe is me rubbish mate..
