Just wondered what everyone thinks about anfield, and other stadiums around country.
With tottenhams new stadium now open, arsenal, man u, and man city, all have new/ big stadiums there is only chelsea in the "big 6" who have a smaller capacity than anfield, and i believe they have plans afoot for a new ground!?
I love anfield, but i do think its time for some more redevelopment, especially at the anfield road end.
Eds are where are liverpool with this currently, and do the club see it as vital to keep redeveloping, or are they happy for the time being?
I seem to remember plans for the top tier of the anny road being unveiled as part of the main stand redevolpment, i could be wrong.
Im in no way advocating a move, i believe the "old fashioned" stadiums create the best atmospheres, and nowhere does it better than anfield.
I just feel in terms of revenue, are we in danger of falling behind these teams with newer, bigger grounds?

{Ed002's Note - The business are limited with what they can add and it is something that costs a lot of money for a small return. The revenue from increasing the capacity is not an issue.}

What’s the purpose of ground expansion?

Financial? No chance, ask ed002, it takes a LONG time to recoup the investment.
Atmosphere? Unlikely to make a difference, there are many many fans at Anfield who don’t contribute to the atmosphere and that won’t change.

The only benefit I can see is it slightly raises the bar with FFP if we sell out. I don’t think it would be that significant but happy to be corrected.

Firminos Dentist, the club has publicly announced that the priority is the development of the Kirkby training facility and only then will they look at possible development of the Anfield Road. As Ed02 says, any development will add a relatively small number of additional seats (about 6,000 I think) which might not generate enough additional revenue to justify the financial investment required. Hospitality/ corporate facilities generate more revenue than basic seats, of course, but they are not very popular when sited behind the goal so that is not a realistic avenue to explore. I can see us sticking with our current capacity of 54,000 for a while. Again as Ed02 says (I think) in the great scheme of things the additional revenue from a bigger stadium is not a big deal given the club’s overall relatively healthy financial position.

As I often tell my wife, size doesn't matter.

I think they'll extend the Anfield road End, as soon as the training grounds done. The owners mean business.

Brilliant Smeg Head 👏.

Tottenham’s new ground incorporates various money making and corporate facets that could not be possible at Anfield without building a whole new stadium. If they want to set a bar for stadia, let them. Liverpool’s owners have done what they can.

If I was a Spud id be concerned about all that debt, possibly not getting top four which would be a disaster.
Not having any money left to improve the squad year after year. Poch flirting with a move away every week. They Look like their going slowly backwards to me.

Trippier has been very poor at end of season. If he isn't injured maybe they will go with serge aurier?
