Eds,

If recent rumours are to be believed .

Is Klopp unhappy with the current player funding situation?
Would we sell Henderson in this transfer window?
And do we really need to wait for the sale of many players before mustering up enough to buy someone?

EasyBall

{Ed002's Note - (a) Whilst any coach would like money to spend all have to accept that clubs have work within FFP and the pandemic has hit clubs hard. If you want to run wild then sell players. (b) I don't think so. (c) The club may be able to borrow money in the short term but they need to raise the majority of money through sales or make better use of the players the club has.}

1.) 29 Jul 2021 16:19:10
Is FFP even a thing anymore.

{Ed0666's Note - yes but it’s been modified due to covid.

2.) 29 Jul 2021 17:04:06
I wonder if Brian Clough would have been a success at Derby County way back when if FFP was around at that time?
Maybe also would have fallen foul of it subsequently at Forest too?

Someone's been paying too much attention to Tw@tter.

Hi Eds,

I just wondered if you may know, or presume, what sanction (s) may be imposed on the 12 clubs' conduct regarding the ESL?

Personally I feel a points deduction would be punishing the fans/ players/ managers - who were hugely behind the reason for the proposal being axed.

It's hard to know what would really ring home with all these owners, unless it involves them being hit financially I guess.

EasyBall

{Ed002's Note - I have repeatedly answered this question. Read the posts.}

Hypothetic question. If the season restarted and stopped again, would Liverpool be crowned champions if they had mathematically won it at that point - without having to put a case forward for a vote?

EasyBall

{Ed002's Note - There have been no such discussions. In Spain the answer is no.}

Unless next season can kick off on the 9th of August I can’t see why we wouldn’t finish this season rather than fu+-#* up 2 seasons.

A question to anyone in the know (so mainly the Eds 😊)

This is obviously hypothetical, but if all countries adopted the ‘draw the line’ proposal to conclude their season, would it then be up to each of them independently to employ the ‘crowning champions’ option (should that route be prompted by the relevant teams? )

It would just be interesting if all leagues concluded it differently or if one caused a knock-on affect with the others. I just ask as Rakitic was reported to have said Barcelona should be crown champions, and their one if very close to call!

EasyBall

{Ed002's Note - It is up to the individual leagues to decide how to conclude the seasons should they need to - I have explained this over and over.}

Anyone seen this report regarding Pierpaulo Marino, saying the PL are about to issue a statement (similar to Belgium cancelling the league)?

I'm not sure of his exact quotes but the report is doing the rounds at the moment.

EasyBall

{Ed002's Note - There is a situation about practicality given where the UK sits with Coronavirus and (1) the level of testing being low, and (2) the low number of “beds” being available. I have not seen what he said but UEFA are aware of research which shows a significant disparity between European nations and when they may be fit and safe to return to playing. This is a big deal but the result of research which thinks that the UK is going to see many, may more deaths and may never be able to return. However, the PL have so far deferred a return rather than making a hard decision - which may well be in a few weeks time. There are significant variables involved and it remains a dynamic situation. The intent remains to finish the season, the reality is that the intent could be scrapped if circumstances dictate. I don’t know, but people in a better position than I will be trying and understand the advice and data.}

I’ve read into it EasyBall yes. Seems black and white to me it’s going to be season over With what he has said, league voided and our wait to win it go’s on. Somethings are bigger than football though.

2.) 08 Apr 2020 11:09:34
Thanks for your detailed response Eds002.

Yes, as much as we would love Liverpool to be champions I'm sure we would all agree it wouldn't be right if players/ managers etc are fast-tracked back or 'forced' to return under any obligations, should risk be involved.

It looks like the virus will be a social and economic issue for some time. And people's health is paramount.

{Ed002's Note - Right. I understand why he said what he did now but plans are currently unchanged.}

3.) 08 Apr 2020 11:39:51
Isn’t he the director of an Italian club with some involvement with Watford?

What ever is decided in the coming weeks/ months, Im not sure how they would be privy to such info.

{Ed002's Note - He is a director at Udinese which is owned by Giampaolo Pozzo who also owns Watford. But he is a very senior person in the Italian game and close to many of the discussions that are going on.}

4.) 08 Apr 2020 12:15:06
I thought as much, I’d read somewhere the involvement with Watford in another life.

I’ve not seen the report have you Ed002? I would presume he’s spoken to a journo regarding this, hence the leak.

{Ed002's Note - No it is nothing like that.}

5.) 08 Apr 2020 12:29:52
He obviously has been involved in discussions and has heard what is going to happen with the PL being voided, he wouldn’t make it up.

6.) 08 Apr 2020 15:40:10
There are now reports a premier league spokesman has dismissed Marino's claims and said they are inaccurate.

Doesn't say who the spokesman is - but I'm guessing its not Rio Ferdinand.

{Ed002's Note - He has not been involved in any discussions with the PL and plans are as I have explained.}

7.) 08 Apr 2020 19:29:34
Thanks for the clarification, Ed02. Italian footy officials are known for throwing hand grenades into the ether to generate controversies and reactions. If you follow Serie A, you will know what I'm saying. I knew those remarks looked strange esp. with all that the Ed02 has said about this issue. Well, the rival fans and trolls are running with it now so I guess the plan worked.

I don't think a transfer ban would make any difference at the moment.

It's a fair point about future finances, but with this squad right now we might not need anyone next summer.
We've assembled a well equipped squad.

I'd be willing to put over £450 for Klopp's phone bill.

Alisson could be going up for corners more often in January.

{Ed0666's Note - this is probably the best reply to a post ever on this site. Kudos my friend. I’m laughing and worried at the same time 😂😱

Tuchel. If he's won 2 leagues, another CL, and Chelsea have sacked him for bad results by then.

Its nice to see that after everything the whole world has been through the last 18mths - and the current alarming situation in Brazil - there's still power people out there deciding to be ruthless and unforgiving.
