Hi Ed’s 001,002 with Karius giving us a timely reminder that he’s not at the level required and Ming’s certain to move on could you give us a summary of Goalkeeper targets we’ve looked in the recent past and who we seem to be most interested in?

Dub-Red

{Ed002's Note - This is what I explained before with new notes in parenthesis:
Keylor Navas (G) - Klopp was keen (Real Madrid are going to bring in another new goalkeeper and will let him leave)
Alisson (G) - difficult and unlikely, very expensive (no approach to Roma or offer made by Liverpool)
Jack Butland (G) - Macca says he is the wanted GK (might be a viable option)
Andriy Lunin (G) - if WP issues can be addressed and if a second GK is purchased (now moved elsewhere)
Thomas Strakosha (G) - alternative for a second GK but is seen as too expensive (not for sale unless a club starts negotiating up from €40M)

1.) 11 Jul 2018 13:27:30
Great Ed thanks for replying. I can see us ending up with either Navas or Butland. Out of curiosity do you rate either and who would you want to Chelsea to sign out of the two?

{Ed002's Note - I would avoid "rating" players but both are well thought of generally and Navas has a lot of very high-end experience.

Navas and Vazquez plus €xM for Salah maybe?}

2.) 11 Jul 2018 13:27:43
I read not long ago that Macca said that Cillissen was at Melwood, Ed002. Do you know anything about that? I was waiting for you to mention him on this list.

{Ed002's Note - I am not the one to ask Macca is. Someone else provided a pointer to a photograph which they all said was Cillessen at Melwood, but it was actually Isaac Christie-Davies. I did try and explain but no one had heard of him so they didn't believe me. Perhaps Macca will come by and provide an update.}

3.) 11 Jul 2018 13:49:13
How can anyone mistake Davies for Cillessen from a photograph?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool fans did not even know who Isaac Christie-Davies is so it is easy - assuming Cillessen had dyed his hair.}

4.) 11 Jul 2018 14:55:12
This is why I love this site, a little bit of banter, some good humor and a whole dose of genuine insight from Ed02.

Thank you Sir.

5.) 11 Jul 2018 16:21:18
Thanks edd 2 some good points there keep it up please.

{Ed002's Note - I try but is not so easy when you get older. Interestingly I was in my local pharmacists this morning and an older man asked the chemist "Does Viagra really work?" The chemist said, "Yes, sir. I'm 72 and I take it myself, so I can vouch for it's efficacy!". The guy asked "Can you get it over the counter?" The chemist thought for a moment and said "Probably - but I might have to take two of them".}

6.) 11 Jul 2018 16:29:55
Ed002 . he’s here all week 😂.

7.) 11 Jul 2018 17:42:35
Hang a wet bath towel on it, that's the ultimate wood test.

8.) 11 Jul 2018 17:47:36
With Buffon at PSG I know we were interested in Kevin Trapp would he be any good?

9.) 11 Jul 2018 17:45:15
I wondered where that was going ed2 xD.

10.) 11 Jul 2018 18:04:00
😂😂😂😂 brilliant ed02.

11.) 11 Jul 2018 18:04:59
Post of the day.

12.) 11 Jul 2018 18:06:52
Spice -0456

ED002 has just cracked his first funny in 18 years and your asking about Italian goal keepers?

You still live your mum don’t you?

{Ed002's Note - It was a true story.}

13.) 11 Jul 2018 18:16:50
His first funny? Ed2s been on form today, have you not read anything else besides this post Kemly?

14.) 11 Jul 2018 19:02:36
I would take Navas personally seasoned winner.

15.) 11 Jul 2018 19:21:00
haha good one Ed002, it reminds me of the guy with a eastern european accent who entered a pharmacist and asked for a Viagra, the pharmacist said, "You must be croatian". Confused, the man said, "yes, how can you tell? " The pharmacist, who looked like a well travelled man, said, I've been told croatians can't get past a semi.

16.) 11 Jul 2018 18:43:49
Ed2 - well done sir! 😂.

17.) 11 Jul 2018 18:43:49
Ed2 - well done sir! 😂.

18.) 11 Jul 2018 20:02:34
I just spit my coca cola reading this bravo edd 2.

19.) 11 Jul 2018 20:17:19
Lol Ed2, class.

20.) 11 Jul 2018 23:42:34
Ed002 you are indeed a legend mate and a bloody funny one when the need arises.

21.) 12 Jul 2018 01:06:34
Navas? I think I feel a bit sick. Makes all the mistakes that Mignolet and Karius get piloried for and has zero presence in the penalty area. Terrible keeper, the fact Madrid have won trophies is in spite of his presence.

22.) 12 Jul 2018 11:27:27
I'm taking Viagra for my sunburn, it doesn't cure it but it does keep the sheets off my legs.

28 Jul 2018 10:43:35
Ed 001 with reports we are interested in one of Fekir, Pulisic and Dembele who would you like out of those 3?I really like the look of Fekir he reminds me a bit of Suarez in that he has a bit of a nasty streak in him.

Dub-Red

{Ed001's Note - Pulisic will be better in the long term but Fekir is better now.}

1.) 28 Jul 2018 11:03:04
Do you think we will move fro Pulisic if we can’t reach an agreement with Lyon? I still think we will get Fekir if Klopp is not put off by his injury history.

{Ed001's Note - no, I don't think Pulisic has any interest in joining us at the moment.}

2.) 28 Jul 2018 11:11:22
So Fekir or no one in this window Ed? As far as you’re aware is it still at a standoff with Lyon? We might see us go back for him when we sell off a few of the fringe players. Think if we can get Fekir we willl he very competitive next season.

{Ed001's Note - I didn't say that, just that my preference would be for Fekir. I don't want to get back into it about him, I have explained what I know and nothing has changed.}

3.) 28 Jul 2018 11:30:15
Cool thanks Ed, anyway hope we get him.

4.) 28 Jul 2018 12:07:37
Fekir or Pulisic, Dembele will be over priced.

5.) 28 Jul 2018 14:07:58
Pulisic any interest in moving anywhere else eds?

{Ed001's Note - not immediately he is not looking for a move.}

6.) 28 Jul 2018 16:35:55
If we can't get Fekir, I think Brandt would be a very good option. He has improved in the last 12 months.

7.) 28 Jul 2018 16:49:59
I have been told Fekir isn’t happening and we have walked away completely from the deal and it was actually Lyon who were wanting to renegotiate the terms.

{Ed002's Note - Why would Lyon want to negotiate to reduce the price? Someone has been teasing you.}

8.) 28 Jul 2018 17:30:27
Not a reduced price just injury clauses I presume. The source works within the club so is pretty good, doesn’t have anything to do with transfers but the info he very rarely passes on I would listen to over anything else.

{Ed002's Note - Why would Lyon want to put "injury clauses" (whatever they are) in a contract to potentially reduce the sale price? He is clearly struggling with the basic premise of selling a player and trying to get the best price possible and not negotiating it down.}

9.) 28 Jul 2018 17:32:05
Well in theory Lyon COULD want to negotiate the price in order the secure the sale and receive what is a lot of money for a player of theirs which otherwise they may not receive at the current asking price.

They may not want to of course.

{Ed002's Note - The price had already been agreed. It was Liverpool that screwed around.}

21 Jul 2018 16:01:37
Ed 001 do you still think we will sign Fekir this window? Do you know the reason the deal broke down? You’ve got to feel for the lad if he had indeed carried out all the media obligations that he had signed for Liverpool for it not too happen must be tough on him and doesn’t reflect well on club to leave him in limbo. I think we’ve had an excellent window but think we lack that bit of magic/ creative flair from midfield since Phil left and fekir could fill that gap and also add a lot in terms of free kicks set pieces. If we signed fekir and a decent cb like Jimenez think we will be genuine title contenders.

Dub-Red

{Ed001's Note - no I don't think we will offload enough to go back and get him, this window.}

1.) 21 Jul 2018 16:15:20
So it seems only likely if we manage to offload a lot that Klopp doesn’t see in our future. Probably wise in the long run, as much as I’d love him to come.
Guess that means the likes of Markovic, Sturridge, Ings, maybe Origi, Gini And Lallana.

2.) 21 Jul 2018 16:26:27
I believe everything happens for a reason and if we had bought fekir earlier in the window I don't think we would have signed Allison.

3.) 21 Jul 2018 16:34:20
Thanks for your reply ed do you know what changed since we initially agreed the deal and he had a medical? Is it a case the club saw getting Alison in was more important than a 10 in this window?

{Ed002's Note - It has been done to death - Liverpool went back on the agreed finances.}

4.) 21 Jul 2018 16:36:30
We don't lack magic/ creative flair from midfield mate not when we have Keita, Hendo and Fabinho. Keita the most notable, I'd have him over Coutinho any day.

I think we're already genuine title contenders, Fekir or no Fekir, sure he'd be a great signing but he isn't absolutely needed.

A CB isn't necessary this window, maybe next year when Klavans contract runs out (I can't imagine it being renewed) but certainly not yet. If we went and brought in a new CB now then that'd be Gomez out of the picture because CB is the only position I see him getting game time this season, he's 3rd/ 4th choice for LB/ RB.

5.) 21 Jul 2018 16:43:55
We already are title contenders.
I don't think liverpool would've signed oxlade chamberlain if we had got keita last summer. It was a last minute thing. And I don't think we will sign fekir since signing shaqiri.

The squad is massive and there is plenty of magic in it. Keita, lallana and milner can be called creative mids. Gini is very attacking. We have mane, firmino and salah. That's enough magic for any team.

I really think lovren will come good, consistently with becker behind him and fab8nho and hendo in front of him and next to vvd.

Have some faith in the players we already have. If we added the two players the op mentioned then more than half the team would be new faces. Not the team that got to ucl final, battered City 3 times and finished top 4 again, in a tough tough league.

Just buying players doesn't always work. Look at Everton last year.

I'd be worried about diluting the already great team spirit by adding too many new players. 4 is about enough. Even without becker it was a good window. Now it is a brilliant window.

Don't keep wishing for other teams players and have some faith in our own

Preach over, sorry.

6.) 21 Jul 2018 16:46:02
I agree. If we’re going to buy replacements I’d rather wait another window or two and buy quality and the right player that just buying for the sake of it. We’ve moved beyond that now. We know the key areas were goalie and CB. We’ve got a top goalie and to be fair Lovren has stepped up and become more consistent. He should now get the benfit of the doubt and let him keep his starting place. Let’s see how things pan out in the new season. Just as our whole back 5 was more solid after VVD came, I expect BA to have a similar effect in terms of confidence on our back 4.

7.) 21 Jul 2018 16:57:24
I hope klavan is offered a new contract. He was very good last season and he's left footed. I get what you mean salah, klavan is knocking on but a replacement at 25/ 26 will cost millions.

The guy really won me over last season.

8.) 21 Jul 2018 17:05:26
Ed001. First time i've heard you say you don't think we will go back in for him mate. I kinda thought as much but now youve said its not happening im gutted.

9.) 21 Jul 2018 17:40:56
I personally think that’s a bit poor considering the pre media work done etc. thought should be given to the lads mental state when a deal like this falls through. May e some lessons should be learnt?

10.) 21 Jul 2018 17:32:11
What if another club started bidding for him, Would that force us into bidding again for him? Knowing he would not be available in another window? Would Klopp be aware we need to shift a few on first?

{Ed001's Note - I doubt it would make any difference.}

11.) 21 Jul 2018 17:51:26
Fair enough mate. No more Fekir questions from me.

12.) 21 Jul 2018 19:19:16
Robbiejames, I think Klavan did really well when called upon and he seems to relish a physical battle.

13.) 21 Jul 2018 19:42:56
Yes franklymrshankly. He looked a bit edgy in his first season but was good whenever called upon last season. I think atm he is the 3rd best cb at the club and in some games he was better than lovren.

14.) 21 Jul 2018 20:18:27
Oh I agree Robbiejames83, I'd like to think we'd keep him for another year or two after his contract ends but personally I'm leaning more towards us bringing in either another CB next summer unless Gomez really impresses which I hope to be the case. If that IS the case then we should sell Matip, keep Lovren and Klaven as backups but that's just something I want to happen not something that's likely to happen lol.

15.) 21 Jul 2018 21:01:59
The operative phrase in ed001’s response is “not in this window” I still think that if he is still in Lyon in January and they have already been eliminated from CL then he will end up in Liverpool. If not, then he will be a summer 2019 signing. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar situation as we saw with Keita. He wants the move and Klopp wants him. I have no sources just sifting through what I read on here.

07 Jul 2018 13:35:55
Ed 01 or Ed 02 would there be any chance of getting an updated summary of Liverpool's transfer targets and who we can expect to sign? I appreciate its forever changing and very hard to commit to anything but would be great to get your insights on who you think has a realistic chance of joining. I think it will be something like this based on rumors and who is on market.

Gk. Navas/ Cillessen
AM. Fekir
WF. Shaqiri/ Moses Simon
CB. Jimenez/ Lacelles

Would welcome your comments and appreciate your insights.

Dub-Red

{Ed002's Note - I cannot say who is expected to sign’ although I can tell you reasonably authoritively where there has been interest.}

1.) 07 Jul 2018 17:05:35
Yes please ed02.

2.) 07 Jul 2018 18:09:43
That would be greatly appreciated Ed if you could do a quick roundup of the players we have been showing the most interest in for the following positions.
GK, CB, AM, WF. Thank you in advance.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything new and am wary of what Macca has already shared as well. Perhaps later.}

3.) 07 Jul 2018 18:31:54
Oh ed you little tease, writing purty words all provocative like. You could drive fans crazy like that.

23 Jun 2018 17:36:17
A question for Ed02 I saw you mentioned that fekir has been offered to 3 clubs at a fixed price. Are Liverpool one of those clubs and do you invisage him joining Liverpool?
Thanks in advance.

Dub-Red

{Ed002's Note - No, not Liverpool. If Liverpool want to buy Fekir they should not screw around with Lyon.}

1.) 23 Jun 2018 18:14:43
Ed I tried the search engine couldn’t find the answer in what way we messing Lyon around?

{Ed002's Note - Money.}

2.) 23 Jun 2018 18:42:48
The EDs have previously stated that Lyon are tough negotiators, The board will want the best possible price for any player they sell, which is fair enough.
If as has been reported, Liverpool reduced their offer from what was originally agreed, then Lyon were within their rights to be annoyed.
It is simply business, Liverpool sought a huge fee for Coutinho, so why should Lyon be any different when selling their star player. If Liverpool want him, then pay what was agreed.

3.) 23 Jun 2018 18:59:32
Even if you come across a potential problem during the medical?

4.) 23 Jun 2018 19:17:09
First time poster ed be gentle. The fekir fiasco has risen it's head again who do you believe LFC and the medical story or the Lyon president story that talks were too slow?

{Ed0333's Note - I would suggest it’s somewhere in between.

5.) 23 Jun 2018 19:44:26
All sounds bit pathetic / greedy to me. Thanks for the reply.

6.) 23 Jun 2018 22:20:39
Surely liverpool would have an injury history of any player they are looking to buy. They must have known he'd done his knee at some time. Its one of the first things I'd want to know past football ability.

7.) 24 Jun 2018 00:30:29
thats right Prince, and it looks like we will have to move on now, he will def be going to another club who will pay the going price,
but who is it we will bring in to replace Couts .

If you could pick a realistic target for the club to sign Ed001 who would it be? Personally if we are going to spend big I think it would have to be oblak. I have s feeling we will end up with Butland or keyler Navas.

Thanks for your time.

{Ed001's Note - yes there is every chance. Things were just put aside until after the World Cup.}
