Something I've never quite wrapped my head around is why people don't want Liverpool players to play for England? Do you not support England? Do you not want the best for England? For me, personally, I want England to win the world cup waaaay more than Liverpool win the Premier League. It'd be an absolutely massive day for everyone. Imagine the nights out, everyone will be on the streets drunk as hell in the best mood of their lives. It'd be brilliant!

I want england to do well, but liverpool will always come 1st. And i'd rather be in the street celebrating with fellow livepool fans when we win a trophy than celebrating mediocrity with england.

2.) 17 Feb 2015 22:15:59
Speechless.
How can anyone even say that?

Am not English myself but the scenes of Liverpool winning the league would be far more jubilant than England lifting the world cup

It sends shivers down my spine when i think of it

3.) You do realise people from outside England support Liverpool! Why would we want them to play for England

4.) 17 Feb 2015 22:24:32
Liverpool over England every time!

5.) Brave man there Derbyshire

6.) I love both but agree would rather see England win the world cup over Liverpool win the premiership. We are talking about our nation here, ordinary folk who aren't 24/7 fans would join in. Remember the Olympics? That X 100 if England won the WC, mass hysteria MUFC and LFC fans celebrating together etc etc. I always enjoy that coming together during the Euros and world cups would love to see so many fans happy armchair fans or otherwise. Not sure either will happen in my life time.

7.) Derbyshire, Liverpool F.C. are the club that represents the city of Liverpool and it's people.

During the last few decades these people have been left to rot by numerous London centric establishment figures and parties.

Rightly or wrongly many associate the English national team with this. Hence the disinterest/dislike of the English national team.

It's also the reason, I feel, that there is such an affinity with our Celtic friends and neighbours.

{Ed007's Note - I'm still laughing at the 'remember the Olympics' part!!!}

8.) I don't care if they play for England or any of their national teams all I hope is they don't get injured or bite someone so that they might miss games for us. Play but don't get injured

9.) Sturridge has had about 6 injuries in his time at Liverpool and about 4 were on England duty. so would I rather have sturridge fit most of the time and spearheading our league campaign or would I rather he plays for England, gets injured and watch them play p*** poor football and get knocked out of every tournament after 3 games. you do the maths.

10.) As an Englishman through and through i'd love to see Liverpool win the Premiership above all else

11.) 18 Feb 2015 08:14:18
English and would prefer LFC to win the PL. More generally though, the last time England played an exciting brand of football was the Germany 5-1 match, and that was a one off. I don't care much about Englands success because England do not play good football. Also, I dislike our manager at the moment fairly intensely and find the long standing commitment to picking big names over high performers and letting the media into every aspect of the management of England to be a big of a disgrace and a detriment to the players and sport - how many times a year does Roy get into a slanging match in the papers with a club manager?

Ultimately, aside from being born in England, nothing attracts me to English football. Few people choose England (or any other country, not really anyway). We all chose LFC

12.) 18 Feb 2015 08:29:43
Liverpool every time. Watching England play is painful. They haven't played well since Owen and Heskey smashed up Germany.

13.) No contest, LFC all day long.

Suso leaving for a cheap amount reminds me of when we got Coutinho for a cheap amount. Suso will go on to prove successful at Milan. Mark my words.

Don't know about everyone else, but these incessant Suso threads are getting old now. In his primary position he's competing with Coutinho, Sterling and on occasions Gerrard. Not to mention Lallana, who is also very good as a 10.
He isn't good enough to displace any of them, and don't begin with potential, yes he has it but Coutinho and Sterling are also still developing.

Ultimately, he may still come good. But why cry over someone that on the face of it, is not and frankly won't be better than sterling or Coutinho.

I like Suso, think technically he's fantastic, but that's about were the line gets drawn.

Let's just accept, he had no future with is considering our options in the attacking third, wish him well, and stop moaning about the fact he's gone.

2.) I think the annoyance stems not only from him being a very good player (I also think he can play on the wings) and could have had a place in our team but from the reluctance to sell in summer despite Rodgers not rating him and playing other players ahead of him and knowing he had only a year left on the contract.

3.) Imred, you are spot on. I posted the same thing on an earlier thread. Complete incompetence at its best!

Skrtel's one of those defenders who will have an absolute cracker of a game or 2 and then the next game have an absolute nightmare. His positional sense is abysmal but he does do well when we actually have the ball.

Personally I'm not comfortable with any of our defenders but they seem to be doing well as a trio. My concern is what we're going to do next season. Buy another Lovren type player to replace Can and shove him further upfield or trust Lovren, Sakho and Skrtel, OR go 4 at the back?

I think Rodgers plan has always been to have the 4-3-3 formation and next season I fear he's going to forget that we've been brilliant with 3-5-2 and buy players with 4-3-3 in mind, like he did before this season.

Nah, he's a bit too old now I'd suggest. He does a good job bombing down the wing but I just don't think he has the Premier league ability.

No it made no sense. If anyone was standing offside then it was judged as offside. That ruins the game in my opinion. Football should be about goals and a goal shouldn't be disallowed simply because someone who wasn't anywhere near the ball is offside. It's stupid.

The rule that the player needs to be active is quite easy to get your head around. Why is anyone having trouble understanding it? If you play a part in the goal and you're offside then it's offside. Simple.

Poor international performance from France? They were one of the favourites to win the World Cup last year and played some magnificent football. Don't PSG get kinda far in the champions league and are either seed 1 or seed 2?
