Ed's I was just wondering if we were looking at both right and left full backs? With Flanno playing so well and Kelly coming back to match fitness do you see left back as our main summer push?
Also was Toure signed on a years contract or more?

{Ed001's Note - we know we are looking at both, Montoya is a right back. Left back is the priority though. Toure signed a two year contract.}

I have read a lot on the web that BR is looking to get Kyriakos Papadopoulos on an initial loan with a view to buy if he proves to be over his injury problems and makes a certain number of appearances.
Ed's do you think is this possible or plausible? It seems an odd that Schalke would be up for it. Good bit of business if true though {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has not made any offer to Schalke for the player. So probably not.}

I think we may have done the right thing sacking BR he seems like he doesn't understand the players he has anymore. He actually did better with a smaller squad who bought into his ideas and ideals.
That said I do hope FSG get a manager of a similar philosophy, we need to build a way of playing again that is synonymous with Liverpool. By keeping close to BR style will mean that the players already there will take less time to adapt, much in the way Swansea identified managers that fit their blueprint, or even more successfully the boot room managers. We need a another year of transition like a hole in the head.
Looking at the candidates who seem to be linked with us:
Ancelotti - Great manager, more of a rigid tactition who was using a 433 variant at Madrid. Would be hard to get him to come but would offer knowledge and make us a better attacking unit.
Klopp - Would fit the players very well and his brand of football would be exciting. An advocate of pressing and counter attacking his Dortmund teams. Reminiscent of the 13-14 title push, quick transitions and full of pace. My worry would be that he had Michael Zork doing his buying for him.
De Boer - I personally like him, the way dutch managers have to start out in the youth leagues. His version of totaalvoetbal has added an element of possession to his Ajax team. He also has a track record of improving and trusting young players. Not sure how much say he has on transfers or if its Overmars.
Rudi Garcia - A more tactically flexible coach who has impressed at both Lille and Roma. Using what I can only describe as Tika-Taka his teams try to play death by triangle. His tactics have progressed since Lille and he now plays with what I'd class as a false cb (De Rossi) with a dm dropping into defense when needed and opening up passing channels/triangles, think quarterback.
I'm sure there are plenty of more that will be linked but these must be the front runners from what I can guess. It's a toss up between Klopp and De Boar for me. Frank would probably shade it as I think he will develop us further, whilst Klopp would also suit us, there must be question marks over his final season in charge of Dortmund. De Boar was also previously contacted prior to Rodgers, he also actually seams interested in the job.
Anyway I've gone right off point, I think that by planning for continuity of playing styles will lessen the need for these transitional years that LFC have become known for. Identifying managers who buy into it is even more important to the structure of the club, the way our youth teams play and learn their trade, not changing the staff and style every time a new manager comes in. Everyone at La Masia/Barcelona are pulling towards the same way of playing.

Ed's I'm wondering if we have any interest in Luciano Vietto? He looks to be a real talent and could fill the large Suarez shaped whole in our forward line, though he could do with bulking up. Is it true Valencia have first option?

Another deal missed, Frimpong to Barnsley, gutted he could have been Gerrard's replacement! The board have a lot to answer for.

Ed's I have heard a few rumours from friends that we have been looking at Gaston Gil Romero, is this true? I have watched him a few times for Estudiantes when scouring livesoccer.tv for football matches. He looks a really good prospect who wouldn't need to much time to adapt. Hopefully I'm not just throwing up random names.
Also do you know if it's true that F.C. Basil moved the goalposts from 12m to 16m, or were we just not too interested/too slow/not Chelsea?
Really appreciate any info you guys have.
{Ed002's Note - Romero is attracting attention from a few clubs - I don't know about Liverpool but it seems unlikely - a work permit would be a major issue. I have no interest in explaining about Salah but there are a few hints earlier in the day. Not so sure if Brendo is still waiting at Heathrow.}

Zork would be a great shout I think.
Not just because of the Klopp link but because of the fantastic work Dortmund have done getting some of the best talents around, they never seam to pay too much over the odds and they find some absolute diamonds. Zork is a major part of that.

And if my Football Manager memory is correct Ron-Rob is classed as a home grown player due to his time at Man U. Though I think the rules might be changing on that.

Like I said in my original post, if the right keeper came along then great, go get him. I just don't personally see the point of getting another interim keeper and hope he's better than Mignolet. Yes it's a priority but a crap defense can make any gk look average. I would rather us take our time for once and make the right signings.
