Hi Eds, With Burnley likley to go down, i was wondering if Liverpool have held any interest in Josh Brownhill? Really like the look of this kid, hard working on and off the ball, i think he could be turned into a good ball winning midfielder, great defensive stats for playing in a very poor team. Have you seen much of the player?

CymruRED

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

1.) 12 Apr 2022 18:58:27
He's a good player for a mid table team like Man United or Everton, but lacks the quality on the ball to play for us in my opinion. He's 26 years old as well so for all action his style of play he's pretty much coming inti his peak few years. He's not much better (if at all) than Jones, Elliott, Carvalho or Morton despite that.

Good afternoon Eds, has there been any interested in Ben Bererton? Also now he has chosen to play for Chile, is he still counted as homegrown?

CymruRED

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool were keen on Brereton when he was at Nottingham Forest perhaps 4 years ago. Who he plays for internationally makes no difference to him in respect of being HG.}

Evening Eds, Dennis Zakaria is available in January for around £6mil, Will Liverpool be one of the clubs interested in taking him?

Also, Dusan Vlahovic, talk to me. What a player. Will he still be at Fiorentina next summer or a big European move? Have Liverpool had a look?

Nadolig Llawen red men.

CymruRED

{Ed002's Note - Denis Zakaria (DM) Free Agent in the summer who has been of interest to Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Juventus although many have preferred options. Roma and Inter also offer an opportunity for him to move to Italy but seem less likely destinations. I would not rule out a move to Dortmund to replace Witsel. Juventus interest is based on their preferred target Tchouameni opting to move to England. Barcelona want a Busquets replacement and Real Madrid a Casemiro replacement. I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool unless they are looking to replace Fabinho but they may have scouted him.
Dusan Vlahovic (S) Fiorentina eventually managed to hang on to the player last summer regardless of the interest of Manchester City and Atletico Madrid and now want a new contract. The player’s agent has made it clear to the club that the player needs to make a step up and move on. There is significant interest in the player. Milan are keen on the player as an Ibrahimovic replacement - Spurs have the same view in respect of Kane and Antonio Conte is an admirer of the player. Whilst Paratici is keen he may be scared off by the price and could turn to an alternate solution Spurs have in mind. Dortmund see him as a Haaland replacement but a move seems unlikely. Manchester United have had him watched but, like Roma and Arsenal are an unattractive option and can be discounted; whilst the rising cost of the transfer will remove Atletico Madrid from the equation, and they have a far more economically viable solution in mind. Bayern Munich and Juventus offer attractive options which would see him at the top of the game. Juventus have an advantage as the player is keen to remain in Italy – but the club are being pressed to sign another. Bayern Munich are looking for a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski and know that their first choice is very unlikely to join them as it stands right now. Chelsea are still a striker short and may put a proposal to Fiorentina but it is difficult to see the move happening. Barcelona may become an option if they lose out on Haaland and, critically, if Fiorentina would accept players as part of a deal. I think it unlikely. PSG cannot be discounted as an Icardi replacement. Inter want the future of Lautaro Martinez resolved else they will also look to him. Manchester City should still not be discounted and he I seen as a very clear option to Harry Kane. The player was happy to stay this season but there will be efforts made in January to agree a transfer, perhaps for the summer. The compelling case for him to stay where he is for this season has proven correct with his value increasing and a wider range of clubs interested. The best advice would be to see what happens in Munich and Turin - and don't rule out a bid from Spurs or Manchester City. Fiorentina will look to €90M or €100M.}

1.) 24 Dec 2021 00:40:27
Let's hope Vlahovic isn't another player that has drifted out of our financial structure, in terms of what we are willing to bid.
Iv a vocal fan of this guy the last 12 months.

2.) 24 Dec 2021 03:57:20
Yes he has drifted from out if our financial structure. We will look for someone around the 30-40 mil mark. 90-100 is way too much for us.

3.) 24 Dec 2021 09:04:49
Imagine spending £150m on Lukaku and Werner and still “being a striker short. ” 🤣.

4.) 24 Dec 2021 09:12:43
I never understood the way teams like Chelsea, City, Juve manage to keep players happy, as you've said Werner, Lukaku, and potentially Vlahovic. They're obviously on good wages but surely that speaks volumes about a player's motivation if they're happy to be one of a number of top-class strikers at a club.

5.) 24 Dec 2021 13:49:51
Good point CymruRED - not really working for Chelsea at the moment though, Werner still can't hit a cows arse with a banjo and Lukaku been injured but not exactly setting the place alight with performance and goals when he has played.

6.) 25 Dec 2021 21:28:05
Well when fit Werner and Lukaku have played together a few times. Stands to reason a 3rd striker for the bench/ rotation. Werner may possibly leave anyway.

23 Sep 2021 11:53:32
Hi Eds,

Hopefully an attacker will be brought in January to help with the loss of players with AFCON. Do you know if the club have looked at Charles De Ketelaere of Club Brugge?

CymruRED

{Ed002's Note - Charles De Ketelaere (AM/LW/F) There has been interest from Nice and Lorient who were worried about losing Terem Moffi. Arsenal have watched him but taken it no further. I am not aware of any interest from Liverpool.}

1.) 23 Sep 2021 12:41:36
Thanks for your reply Ed002. Side note, with a player like CDK, as he has played all his football in Belgium and hasn't played in the Belgium squad. Would work permits affect him? Or is that more with non-European players playing in lesser European leagues where that comes an issue? Naby Keita and his WP issue comes to mind.

{Ed002's Note - He would need a Work Permit and would need to accept the criteria for obtaining one.}

2.) 23 Sep 2021 12:55:38
We will loose players for the AFCON for 3 games at most, who on earth would buy someone to cover three games?

3.) 23 Sep 2021 13:00:51
Klopp has made it clear he's not going to buy players to cover a couple of games. He always looks to solutions within the squad of players he has already.

4.) 23 Sep 2021 14:34:23
not just going to be for 3 games and ask for a refund, is it? We need a RW, either in January or the summer. Ox is not good enough on the right, Gordon is a few years off, Elliot seems to have found his feet in the middle. Taki could play there but looks better down the middle or coming in on his right off the left. Klopp won't shout at you mate for discussing transfers.

5.) 23 Sep 2021 15:00:40
Cymru it is for 2 league games and 1 or 2 fa cups games. So I don’t think we should buy a player for that. I would love a striker as I just don’t think Jota is good enough there and more an better option to play from the left and Mane can swap to the right to giver Salah a rest. Minamino looked better the other night and am sure for 2 games Minamino Firminho and Jota should be good enough otherwise why are we paying them.

6.) 23 Sep 2021 15:53:12
Jota will bag in January. player of the month.

7.) 23 Sep 2021 16:39:40
CymruRED I'm not trying to stop or put a downer on transfer discussions. It's what Klopp has said repeatedly himself in the past. It's why he likes versatility in players, that ability to cover other positions rather than be buying players as stopgaps.
I'm also not sure why we need a right winger, has Salah announced his retirement and we've all missed it or something?

8.) 23 Sep 2021 17:22:55
Dont think we'll buy a right winger next summer, by then Gordon'll be around the same age the likes of Greenwood and Saka were when they started to make their mark. Personally think Gordon'll end up better than both of them.

9.) 23 Sep 2021 22:41:05
I can see why Ed025 likes to mock us. Predicting Gordon will be better than Greenwood and Saka after one first team appearance. Ludicrous.

10.) 23 Sep 2021 22:41:52
Gordon will be 18 in October next year and at the rate at which the club are managing his development with all things being equal - no injuries, settled squad, etc - he will either be on loan to get a season of games under his belt or in our match day squad, in my opinion.

11.) 24 Sep 2021 10:25:22
Some of us watch the under age sides Thunder, got nothing to do with his appearance the other night. He did brilliantly but then anyone in the game would know he'd be well able for it. He will be a Star and we don't need a new toy for that position now, we have the best in the world and a superb young player as back up.

12.) 24 Sep 2021 10:26:56
If the club couldn't find the money to buy a forward this past summer for the entire season, then they certainly won't find the money to buy a player in January for just a few Afcon and FA Cup games. Unless Origi leaves and that money is spent or there is an important injury in our attacking group. I think the overriding factor is that there was a clear plan to fill in the missing player in defense (a CB was brought in very early) and then assign financial resources to extend existing contracts and the club got all of that done too.

13.) 24 Sep 2021 13:11:27
ed2 - are liverpool going to buy or loan players to cover the players who are off to AFCON.

{Ed002's Note - No the club will not buy or loan players for those departing. They will make use of the squad and if there are other changes, make use of new players arriving.}

09 Aug 2021 15:18:03
What's the latest with Neco Williams Ed's? Move looked likely but seem's to have gone quiet now.

Whilst we're discussing Williams's, Inaki from Bilbao, always surprising that's he's never been target of a top European team. Is that due to Price of the player or is he happy at Bilboa?

CymruRED

{Ed002's Note - Neco Williams (RB) Was to be sold to generate funds but nobody has shown interest at the asking price. That means a loan is likely. Southampton may still look for a loan with an obligation to buy.

The primary driver to stay where he is reflects Inaka Williams being a Basque.}

1.) 09 Aug 2021 16:06:13
Livramento was bought for the first team for the saints, and he was half of the quoted price of Neco and likely a better player too, so we can forget the Saints bidding.

2.) 09 Aug 2021 16:48:26
I've mentioned it before, Unless Neco wants regular first-team football which I think is unlikely in the premier league, I don't see the value in cashing in on under 10 mil when that will then become another position we need cover for. He's more than good enough to fill in for 30 minutes or the odd cup game to give TAA a rest. Is the lad in the academy good enough to step up if Neco does go, was it Beck or is he a LB?

3.) 09 Aug 2021 16:56:35
Owen Beck is a LB - based on his appearances, I'd say he's 3rd choice behind Robbo and Tsimi.

4.) 09 Aug 2021 17:05:31
We will need to give Gomez game time at some point. Gomez is a better rb than Williams.

5.) 09 Aug 2021 17:30:48
Any chance Ox will be sold and is the supposed interest of the Saints real?

6.) 09 Aug 2021 17:48:12
markp08 I would not play Gomez at right he might be ok at the defending side of the game but offers very little going forward. I can't believe so many people have wrote Williams off he has played 25 games and has only just turned 20. Yet Livramento is likely a better player without one first team match under his belt.

7.) 09 Aug 2021 18:34:12
Where would you play Gomez then? If he plays rb it would be the perfect opportunity to play the front 4 altogether.

8.) 09 Aug 2021 18:41:22
Where he fits naturally, and where he's starting tonight. Centre back. We had enough bellyaching last season about players being played out of position when it was deemed unnecessary.

9.) 09 Aug 2021 18:51:48
For me Mark his a cb and that’s where I would play him it’s up to him now along with Matip and Konate to partner VVD but for the first 3rd of the season all 4 and going to be rotated after all 4 missed massive parts of last season.

10.) 09 Aug 2021 18:53:06
I repeat: I still think we all underestimate Gomez's ability - defending, crossing and passing. He takes a mean freekick too.

11.) 09 Aug 2021 19:07:19
I agree GD. If you only play Gomez cb he will probably become a bit part player. League cup etc. That’s just not right,

12.) 09 Aug 2021 21:48:57
Gomez at RB should be done away with forever. A guy with the type of knee injuries he has had, should be nowhere near a position where he has to run up and down as much as our fb’s do.

13.) 09 Aug 2021 22:17:36
We have more than one way to play Olired, he doesn't need to bomb up and down if the right team is picked. Konate can play rb as well so that might be a better option.

14.) 10 Aug 2021 08:23:07
Shoehorning players into other positions when it's not needed just to see how well they do doesn't sound like a good plan to me.
Maybe as emergency cover, but other than that disrupt the balance of the side as an experiment?

Happy Friday Eds, I was wondering if you could provide some insight on a few of the U23's and what the plan is with them either being loaned out into the FL, integrated in the senior squad or staying put.

Owen Beck
Tom Clayton
Connor Bradley
Leighton Clarkson
Mateusz Musialowski
Tyler Morton
Kaide Gordon
Max Woltman

Appreciate it's hard to pin the 'Kiddies' Down, but a few players there who have been suggested to have big futures over the past 18 months. Wondering there is some kind of progress update you could provide? Always keen to see how the next gen are getting on.

As always thank you for your time and input.

Diolch.

CymruRED

{Ed001's Note - those kind of decisions are usually made in the summer. A lot of it will only be decided by how they perform during pre-season friendlies.}

1.) 30 Apr 2022 08:33:14
Ed001 do you see Milner getting another year or do you think he leaves in the summer, if he goes I think Morton could cover his minutes but if he stays another year then I think a loan would be best for him as from what I have seen of Morton I do believe he has a place with us in the future same as Gordon not sure about the rest.

{Ed001's Note - I think he already got offered another year if I remember correctly.}

2.) 30 Apr 2022 10:33:46
With Klopp now staying I wouldn’t be surprised to see Millie start his badges and coaching journey under Klopp.

3.) 30 Apr 2022 10:54:42
To add to that Grino75, I think Owen Beck will be pretty good too. Bradley, I think is not suited to how we want our RBs to play (I have hardly seen him cross in all the matches he played for us), but I think he can be a good linking midfielder. His short passing, and athleticism are great.
I really liked Clarkson, but his loan didn't turn out as well and he's almost 21 now, so a decision would need to be made soon. I thought Musialowski would get a first team chance by now, but maybe he hasn't progressed as expected.

4.) 30 Apr 2022 15:58:44
Koparmy all still young but to play at the level we are at you can normally see when they get there chance. Morton has looked good a lot off hype about Bradley but from what I have seen I can’t see him being in are squad in the future for me he looks nowhere near Williams level and it looks like he will be moving on in the summer. The others not really seen enough of them to judge.

16 Aug 2021 15:34:28
Hi Eds, any interest around Diaby (Leverkusen) from Liverpool?

CymruRED

{Ed002's Note - None.}

1.) 16 Aug 2021 18:01:02
That’s an damn shame, proper beast.

2.) 16 Aug 2021 19:59:31
Eds2 could you post a list of players that Liverpool have absolutely no interest in.

{Ed002's Note - There is a chap from Gillingham ….}

3.) 17 Aug 2021 02:21:40
Also ed, when you do that list can you sing it in the Melody of Billy Joel's 'we didn't start the fire', but replace the chorus with 'you're not signing this player'.

24 Jun 2021 13:34:05
Hi Ed's. I've seen Malen is now likely to join Dortmund and Leicester are close to bringing in Daka. Any other numbers 9's Liverpool are looking at if these two move elsewhere?

CymruRED

{Ed002's Note - Malen has been of interest to Dortmund and their preferred Sancho replacement - but nothing is agreed. Liverpool did nothing in respect of Daka. Others who have been considered are Ricky-Jade Jones and Matthew Hoppe.}

1.) 24 Jun 2021 13:53:52
Mbappe's coming, I tell you ;-)

2.) 24 Jun 2021 14:41:04
I have this horrible feeling that we’re not going to bring in another forward. Or if we do it will be someone like Sarr or Traore, which would be like setting fire to £40m. Thankfully it won’t be Dembele as he’s injured again.

3.) 24 Jun 2021 15:02:47
Surely Matt Hope and R-JJ are more for the academy/ reserves no? Surprised they're the names being looked at to push bobby, or will that be Jota with someone covering for Mane?

4.) 24 Jun 2021 17:13:16
I can’t see that Hoppe would get a work permit? Ricky Jade Jones is a prospect and not much more than that.

5.) 24 Jun 2021 18:26:15
We need an out n out Center forward. Goal scoring number 9. Last season shows that the famous front three are wilting, slowing down. Salah isn’t, the other two are blowing. Jota is a breath of fresh air to cover the Wide positions, and we need That through the middle also!

21 Jun 2021 14:23:04
Hi Eds, i've seen today we'll be willing to let Neco Williams leave for 10m. Surely having a RB to fill in for Trent is more valuable than the 10m. or are we planning on using Gomez or Konate as a RB cover? Cheers Eds.

CymruRED

{Ed002's Note - A good point - I am not sure if someone else is coming though or whether one of the first team squad will provide cover.}

1.) 21 Jun 2021 14:52:25
Its being reported that Gomez and Connor Bradley will be used as cover.

2.) 21 Jun 2021 15:24:28
Trent is out most creative player. Our whole system is pretty much get it to the full backs and let them create. Gomez and Konate would be useless out there. Neco gets sold another RB has to come in as cover.

3.) 21 Jun 2021 17:44:55
Heard this too and was surprised hearing 10M. Not sure is it Euros or Sterling but I would have thought £6M would have been more realistic. If someone bids £9M or £10M even then I'd imagine it's hard to turn down.

Awkward to buy a backup when Trent is so good, don't know would they just rely on all the players who can play RB to cover instead (Milner, Gomez, Konate, Fabinho. maybe another youngster)

{Ed025's Note - it cant be stirling sean...raheem is not worth that much mate.. :)

4.) 21 Jun 2021 18:19:25
Gomez is a great cb but he’s useless at rb.

5.) 21 Jun 2021 18:57:38
David, I do believe we will be slightly changing systems next year. If Gomez plays at rb the front 4 can all play for example.

6.) 21 Jun 2021 16:31:29
be hard pushed to bring someone in with the same creative ability. Plenty of good RB's about but it's the forward play we need to cover with TAA. Call me bias being welsh, but I actually like Neco's forward play, maybe not the best crosser but that will come. I do also like Pedro Porro if we were to sell. Great forward play and likes to get the ball into the box. Ed's, is Pedo Porro of any interest this summer?

{Ed002's Note - No, Porro is of no interest. Scratching around at randon Manchester City players won't help.}

7.) 21 Jun 2021 20:14:49
Or just get another right back. Trent has played all but 2 PL games last 2 seasons. He needs resting and rotating, remember how awful he was around for like 2/ 3 months last season and we couldn't drop him. Our squad depth is horrible.

8.) 22 Jun 2021 00:18:08
@Ed025 Raheem GBP whoops another typo 😁

@DavidK, Neco was fit for some of that and wasn't used. Then when Trent was injured he wasn't fully trusted but he is young and will improve. I think Trent is too good for a better backup right back to be willing to join us, unless they are versatile enough to cover more than just right back.

29 Jan 2021 17:26:29
Hi Ed’s, how far off is Sepp VDB from being an option at the back? Also, not sure if I’m watching a different player to a lot of reds, but Nat Phillips other than the odd misplayed ball looks solid. His pace will come as he gets up to ‘speed’ with the premier league and competes against opp forwards. Just my imo.

CymruRED

{Ed001's Note - he was about 220 miles off last night, but sometimes he is quite close, depends on where the game is being played really.}

1.) 29 Jan 2021 18:11:15
Ed001s done you there mate 😂. Personally I'd class nat as a no nonsense defender, no frills but gets it done. He also did well to play the whole second half on a yellow, although he was helped by spurs not attacking him more.
Yes he won't play out from the back but he's our 4th choice cb, he isn't going to be perfect.
Keep him in there and see how he gets on, I prefer him to Williams who is still raw.

2.) 29 Jan 2021 18:19:56
He wasn't even our 4th choice CB, he got there by default but he has reasonable experience at a certain level, which is far better than Williams has. That makes him a shoe in for me.

3.) 29 Jan 2021 19:45:42
Ed001 🤣🤣👏.

4.) 29 Jan 2021 18:54:56
IR, the thing is if Phillips had played at Old Trafford and got torn to bits (which he would have) we’d all be singing a different tune?
He didn’t have much to do last night and West Ham will have Antonio back I presume.
Hobson’s Choice.

5.) 29 Jan 2021 19:52:33
Nats done ok needs to face the man citys to see if he’s got enough in his locker.

6.) 29 Jan 2021 20:33:51
I don't its about if he got enough in his locker. Nobody is remotely suggesting that he is the answer, just that he is a better fit than Williams, nothing else.

7.) 29 Jan 2021 19:36:25
I'd be inclined to take a chance of Van Den Berg ahead of the two of them to be honest. Think people are going a bit over the top about Phillips, im not expecting miracles but i get nervous every time the ball goes near him.

{Ed002's Note - It seems Klopp does not agree.}

8.) 29 Jan 2021 21:33:29
Every time I’ve seen van den berg play he’s been miles off.

9.) 29 Jan 2021 21:40:26
Isn’t he likely to go out on loan this jan?

10.) 29 Jan 2021 21:52:08
Williams is so slow, if he played like Sami then fine, but with our high line you need pace.

I think williams will become a great reader of the game, but for me, at this point, a no nonsense approach (especially and maybe someone who can head at set prices in the opposite box) may be valuable.

I'm edging towards Phillips.

11.) 29 Jan 2021 22:30:32
In fairness that would have been mostly when he first came in last year Peg, he was 17.It was 18 months ago and to be honest even then he looked as capable as the other two. probably a bit scrawny compared to Phillips but im sure he's filled out a bit since then.

Hi Eds, what antics has he gotten up to?

How many more games in the EPL would he need to play to get a WP for most countries? Wasn't that the issue? I remember one of the eds saying something about playing in certain leagues providing you with several points that go towards a WP? I could be wrong or oversimplified this. An explanation would be good if you could?

Cheers.

Great forward play and likes to get the ball into the box. Ed's, is Pedo Porro of any interest this summer?

{Ed002's Note - No, Porro is of no interest. Scratching around at randon Manchester City players won't help.}
