A question for Ed001 if I may,

Reading the posts, I've seen you saying that Napoli are not willing to let Jorginho leave. However, do you know if the player is pushing for a move away from Naples or would he happy to stay if Napoli are not willing to sell?

ComeOnRedmen

{Ed001's Note - as far as I know he is not looking to move just now. Napoli have stepped up and are top of Serie A, there really is no reason for him to push for a move.}

1.) 02 Mar 2018 04:44:38
Cheers Ed, appreciate the reply. Looks like it's going to be an uphill battle to sign the player then, given that he's not looking for a move and also the number of interested parties involved.

{Ed001's Note - he would need convincing to make a move. Nothing is entirely out of the question of course, but it is far from a likely deal, let alone a done one, as things stand.}

2.) 02 Mar 2018 05:26:58
Jorginho is 26 y/ o, turns 27 this year. He just doesn't seem like a player Liverpool is going to go for. Plus the player has no reason to want to leave, as Ed said, and Napoli doesn't want him to leave. This could just be paper talk generated by LFC PR to push another player to sign, to distract from another signing or whatever.

3.) 02 Mar 2018 05:59:44
Are you suggesting a smokescreen VDV!?
anyways, great if true and gets over the line. Meh, if not.

4.) 02 Mar 2018 06:18:33
I think so, Faith. I would think Paul Joyce, who started the Jorginho talk, got his info from Liverpool. Personally, I doubt that we are really interested or that the player is. So it could be a smokescreen for something else.

5.) 02 Mar 2018 07:33:40
Hi eds I read this morning that there is interest in lemina of Southampton haven't really seen much of him too judge as a player, but what happened too romeu of Southampton he was playing really well last year an looked quality obviously it's another Southampton player so would b hard work for us but he looked a great defensive midfielder has his performances dipped, if Southampton get relegated he will surely leave along with others, cheers.

{Ed001's Note - no one at Saints is playing well at the moment.}

6.) 02 Mar 2018 08:41:44
VDV
There are things you are not aware like Napoli are looking to add Torriera from Sampdoria who will cost them big money. And that to happen they will need to sacrifice a player who plays in that position. it’s one of Diawara / Jorginho. His agent is aware of this situation and has not signed a new contract. I expect him to move if not they will have to sell someone else which is also a possibility ( Zielinski / diawara )
We ll have a new look Midfield for the upcoming season.

7.) 02 Mar 2018 09:15:06
It's Man Utd that are keen on Jorginho according to ed002. He said in January they were talking to Napoli. Obviously, things change but I don't see a real interest. Still, expect us to go back in for Lemar personally.

8.) 02 Mar 2018 09:16:17
Baby Driver, I'm sure you're right. I have absolutely no transfer knowledge. I'm just speculating based on my experience of LFC transfers and PR.

9.) 02 Mar 2018 10:33:21
Baby Driver i may be wrong but i think Torreira has a release clause active in the summer only of 25m Euros.

10.) 02 Mar 2018 12:08:13
I’d get both Torreira and Jorginho! Do it!

26 Feb 2018 04:05:40
A question for Ed001 if I may,

do you know what's the plan for Milner this coming summer? Is he expected to move on or is it still too early to say?

ComeOnRedmen

{Ed001's Note - he would like to go somewhere he can play regularly though Klopp would like to keep him.}

1.) 26 Feb 2018 07:15:18
Thanks for the reply Ed, much appreciated.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate, be interesting to see what happens with him in the summer as he really does not want to be a utility back up any more.}

2.) 26 Feb 2018 07:22:03
I have a feeling he will be able to move on with Klopp's blessing in the summer with Ox replacing him as the utility back up. Just to have a rough idea, which teams are interested in Milner Ed?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know off the top of my head. Well I know Moyes would take him in a heartbeat, but, other than that, not sure.}

3.) 26 Feb 2018 07:58:04
I do hope he stays. Having started the last 2 games and played brilliantly, including building a fantastic combo with Robbo and Mané on our left side, I'd consider him first choice for that midfield slot. A good run of games including plenty of starts will hopefully see him continue this great form and choose to continue at the highest level for one more season at least, instead of dropping down to mid-table or a relegation battle.

4.) 26 Feb 2018 08:44:28
I fully assumed the idea of buying Ox was to replace Milner. I don't like a lot about what Milner brings but you cannot help but respect his attitude and his love of the game - a lot of players could have had much better careers than they ever got by following his examples and moving to where the games across his career.

5.) 26 Feb 2018 09:42:28
Milner deserves lots of praise at the moment. We had just lost back to back games and Milner was recalled for the game agains't Huddesfield. Over the 5 games since the defeats he has been just about our best player. He has covered Robertson, he has created chances, tracked runners and given 100%.

5 games though is not a season, he simply isn't good enough to play in midfield for Liverpool over a season. He is on a massive wage and should be sold in the summer, he will have many takers. I do not look forward to Milner playing in midfield agains't the better teams, the best players make him look like a statue.

6.) 26 Feb 2018 09:56:53
Milner has played 32 this season albeit some as a sub but i can't see him playing much more at another club and certainly not a top club. If i was him i would be more than happy to stay in the hope he might pick up a medal or two before he retires. I think there is space for an experienced old pro or two at the club.

7.) 26 Feb 2018 10:31:39
Agree with Irish Rover above, but perhaps Milner will have an eye on who comes and goes in Summer.
Keita goes straight into the first team, Hendo, and then it's A. N. Other for the third place.
Milner could be looking at considerably less game time next season?

8.) 26 Feb 2018 15:05:24
Doesn't matter if the ox was bought to replace milner if that was indeed the case.

If Milner playing well (which he is) then no reason to let him go in my opinion. He is a leader, winner and experienced role model which is most definitely good to have in and around the team.

Compliments the youth in the squad nicely.

9.) 26 Feb 2018 16:03:35
Be a shame as Milly has been class of late and is always a great professional would be a loss to the squad that one, I hope we retain him but can understand his desire to play.

10.) 26 Feb 2018 17:17:53
Would we let him leave for free or demand a fee, if we do let him leave for free my bet would be Leeds to finish his playing days at his boyhood club.

11.) 26 Feb 2018 17:19:34
I would think Allardyce, Moyes, Pardew, Pulis, Lambert etc will love him.

13 Jan 2018 06:38:23
A question for Ed01 if I may, I seem to remember you mentioning that klopp was after 2 centre backs before the arrival of VVD. Do you know if the club is still looking to get another centre back now that VVD has arrived or do you think gomez will be partnered with VVD instead?

If we are indeed looking for a centre back, I personally hope that its Aymeric Laporte. A top top player in my book and a french international that might take some persuading to leave bilbao? Food for thought maybe?

Lastly, I know I am late for this one Ed01, have been lurking around but didn't have time to post. Sorry for your loss Ed and stay strong mate. Great site and keep up the good work!

ComeOnRedmen

{Ed001's Note - not in January mate. There are other priorities in the summer, but Klopp would like one more still.

Thank you very much COR.}

1.) 13 Jan 2018 09:34:47
Akanji is a possibility in summer, wouldn’t mind if we did. Also there’s Gimenez and De Vrij who would be available for free in the summer too.

2.) 13 Jan 2018 10:59:44
cheers ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

3.) 13 Jan 2018 12:00:13
It would make sense convincing de vrij to sign a pre contract for the summer. Akanji is not quiet ready and very similar to vvd.

Plus we will need to look for a top class keeper and possibly another midfielder and attacking midfielder if we don't get one this window. So saving money getting a free but decent defender for the summer makes sense. Disclaimer: i know its not really free with signing on fees, agents fees etc.

{Ed002's Note - You can forget De Vrij.}

4.) 13 Jan 2018 13:08:12
While I think he is a good defender, I am not convinced that De Vrij is the answer. I think he is abit too slow to play in the system klopp likes to play, and I can see him having a similar problem to Lovren in our system.

I agree with you regarding Akanji. I think he is a good prospect, but if we are going to get him and play him alongside VVD, we might as well give gomez a shot. If not, keep gomez at rb and get a more accomplished centre back.

I'd like to apologise for asking about random players, but if Ed01 is around, can I have your opinion on Laporte? I personally like him a lot (as you can see from my original post! ) and he reminds me abit of Agger with his cultured left foot and the threat he poses from set pieces.

5.) 13 Jan 2018 13:17:45
Ed002.De vrij not an option anymore. would love to get him to play alongside vvd.

6.) 13 Jan 2018 13:32:19
We should offer alderweireld a pay rise from tottenham when we get CL and they dont.

7.) 13 Jan 2018 13:38:57
Shame if we've missed De Vrij.
I see media outlets yesterday saying he's still not signed an extension with Lazio but obviously we'd have a lot of competition to get him.
Gomez to CB next season then and get in a new RB if Clyne is gone.

8.) 13 Jan 2018 19:15:49
Thanks for the updates ed02, didn't know he was no longer available.

Looks like the coaching staff somehow got a copy of your article Ed001! All the weaknesses of the players somehow disappeared today!

ComeOnRedmen

{Ed001's Note - to be fair Watford did help with that.}

03 Feb 2018 06:57:40
A question for Ed01 if you have time,

Just to satisfy my curiosity, can I ask if there was interest from any other clubs in Henderson prior and after joining us? I'm asking because I had made a wager with a mate of mine that Hendo would be of interest to the Spanish giants 5 years after joining us (which of course I lost! )

Any info would be much appreciated!

ComeOnRedmen

{Ed001's Note - yes, he had rejected Man Utd prior to joining us.}

1.) 03 Feb 2018 07:14:50
Thanks for the reply Ed, much appreciated.

{Ed001's Note - you are very welcome.}

2.) 03 Feb 2018 08:03:52
Fulham also wanted him to. Hendo flat out refused to leave though. He wanted to prove himself.

I'm sure Spurs/ Pochettino were interested at one point too, but that was never confirmed to my knowledge.

3.) 03 Feb 2018 08:34:22
Wasn't it a case tho mk that Brendan wanted to throw him in for part of the deal with Clint Dempsey. I may be completely wrong tho.
I'm glad he our player still. Great player in my eyes.

4.) 03 Feb 2018 09:42:25
I remember PSG linked with him in 2016.

24 Jan 2018 10:15:38
A question for Ed01 if I may

Do you think Mane playing on the left has affected his form?

It appears to me Mane is at his best when playing on the right as he is more unpredictable whereas he looks to cut inside all the time when playing on the left. Thoughts?

ComeOnRedmen

{Ed001's Note - he was primarily a left winger when we bought him, so no.}

1.) 24 Jan 2018 10:36:41
Mane said after the City game in an interview that he shoots best with his left foot. I don't think it matters what side he is on, i just think he is a player who has to have everything in place for it to click. He seems to get down very easily, but when he is playing with a smile, he is unplayable.

2.) 24 Jan 2018 10:36:52
He's still had a good season, sure he could do better but overall he's fine, when he's fully on form he's incredible so I look forward to that side of him returning.

3.) 24 Jan 2018 11:08:29
Thank you for your reply Ed01, fingers crossed we will see an in form and firing Mane soon!

4.) 24 Jan 2018 12:01:02
Mane played on the left near thru out his career esp. at Metz and RB Salzburg before he came to LFC so that should not be a problem.

5.) 24 Jan 2018 12:44:36
mane has lost his pace and agility since the injury. That is what has affected his form. Its nothing to do with positioning.

6.) 24 Jan 2018 23:07:23
I don't think he lost too much pace tbf, i think just take games like swan sea there wasn't much space to run into. So you take a player like Isco/ Couts they are very neat and tidy, mane is more explosive and prefers a bit more space to knock and run a bit. So given the deeper lying teams, Mane doesn't have too much space to run into or behind.

10 Sep 2017 11:34:30
Who do you guys reckon should start in goal for the CL game and the game against burnley?

For me, I would drop migs and put karius in goal for the CL game and give ward a chance against burnley to see what he can do. Migs has been poor and deserves to be dropped IMO. Against City he did not command his area or pass the ball well at all, surrendering possession easily and making all the wrong decisions when balls were crossed into the box.

ComeOnRedmen

1.) 10 Sep 2017 11:51:36
Karius. No questions asked.

Migs is a great lad, but Ed001 is bang on when he says he gives the defence in front of him kittens.

Could have a back 4 of Lahm, Inzaghi, Puyol and Maldini in their prime and they'd be nervous with Mignolet behind them.

2.) 10 Sep 2017 11:57:54
First and foremost we need to stop this comedy of rotating keepers every now and then. If anything you need stability and understanding at the back.

3.) 10 Sep 2017 12:23:55
Karius probably harmed his chances with his needless dwelling on the ball against Arsenal. It's the last thing a keeper with a reputation for being error-prone needed to do when trying to re-stake his place. The defenders, the crowd and Klopp are going to look at that and think "has anything changed there? ". The only two bits of actual goalkeeping he had to do (two set pieces) he dealt with effectively and decisively, but everyone remembers him getting caught on the ball three times in one game instead.

That being said, if it was up to me, I'd still put Karius in because Migs is a serious problem area. Even if he stopped making errors forever, he still wouldn't command his area, he still wouldn't communicate with his defenders properly, he still wouldn't be able to pass the ball reliably and his shot stopping would still be nothing to write home about. We have three goalkeepers, and as far as I'm concerned, Migs the worst of the three and won't improve with more experience, where the other two might. Why is he still first choice?

4.) 10 Sep 2017 12:35:37
I meant Nesta, not Inzaghi above btw! Was talking to a mate about Inzaghi, who's a striker, and got confused haha!

5.) 10 Sep 2017 12:35:39
Btw, if anyone wants to see the difference an actual good goalie makes (rather than one who just manages not to drop absolute clangers for a few months), imagine if Migs had been City's goalie yesterday instead of ours, especially on the Mane sending off. Do you think Migs would've displayed the combination of anticipation, bravery and athleticism that Ederson did to get 25 yards from his goal, put his body on the line, beat Mane to the ball, and snuff out the goalscoring opportunity?

No, of course he wouldn't have.

If Ederson had stayed in his box and Mane had scored, would anyone have blamed him for the goal? No. But it was still preventable and Ederson did prevent it because he's a good goalkeeper.

6.) 10 Sep 2017 12:46:56
Ward all day for me. Better than both the others. If he wasn't going to get his chance why not let him go back to Huddersfield to play? Strange.

7.) 10 Sep 2017 13:48:01
Ward for me too, give him a run of games not just one. He will sink or swim!

8.) 10 Sep 2017 13:29:34
It seems to me that Klopp wants healthy competition between the 3 keepers, but is not willing to just throw ward into a game. I understand it from his POV, given that everyone was on karius' back for every mistake he made last season.

I am still hopeful that Karius will come out good though. I really like his performance against arsenal, apart from the 2/ 3 times he dallied on the ball. He was organising his defence well, assertive when coming out for crosses and was encouraging/ screaming at defenders. Klopp should've stuck with karius as his no.1 last season IMO, as the defence was playing well and keeping clean sheets at that time.

9.) 10 Sep 2017 16:46:15
Karius all day. Ward deserves a shot but he is not even Wales no 1. And their keeper ain't amazing. Good but nothing special. Mignolet must do something in training because he is not doing it in games.

Totally agree that you need to have stability. Give karius the shirt and give him a bit of Lea way to start with.

{Ed001's Note - Ward is not Wales number 1 purely because he is not playing for us.}

10.) 10 Sep 2017 16:56:59
Ward is a really good keeper. Exceptional reflexes, decent on crosses and distribution is good as well. Confident lad as well.

11.) 10 Sep 2017 17:29:52
Superred, how can Coleman pick Ward when he's not playing club level? If he was to start for Liverpool and play well, and let's face it he wouldn't be worse than the other two donkeys, we would start for Wales. You have a good keeper there wasting away when he could be getting valuable premier league experience is Klopp doesn't see him as first choice. It's baffling.

12.) 10 Sep 2017 21:55:55
Stand, if you think Karius is a donkey then I fear for your football knowledge. You don't get named 2nd best GK in the Bundesliga if you are a donkey. FACT.

{Ed025's Note - well the last time i saw him bingo he was giving rides to kids on ainsdale beach and eating an awful lot of carrots mate.. :)

How's Mane's attitude Ed? From what I've read he's close to Naby off the pitch, hopefully he can be a positive influence on Naby when he comes.

ComeOnRedmen

{Ed001's Note - he has been fine since joining. I am hoping it was just a bit of childishness from Keita that he will quickly grow out of. We all do stupid things, that's how we learn. Just have to hope he learns.}

I don't think Ndidi would be walking into our starting 11 if he comes. don't get me wrong, I think he's a cracking young player but whenever I watch him, he always seem to have those rush of blood to the head moments like yesterday when he almost cost Leicester a penalty.

I agree that Gomez has not been playing well of late, but I would not judge him based on how he's performed in the last few matches given that we've already won the league and have nothing to play for. Having said that, I understand why Klopp wants to bring in someone like Diego Carlos given the injury history that our centre backs (other than Virgil) have.

I have watched Carlos play for Sevilla on a couple of occasions and I think he's a very good player. He seems to be similar to Virgil in a sense that he is dominant in the air, athletic and can play a pass as well. He's very much an aggressive centre back, always looking for opportunities to nick the ball in front of the attacker and starting an attack. I think he would be a good fit our system given that Gomez is usually the more aggressive of our two central defenders and would imo be an improvement over Gomez who occasionally struggles with the long ball over the top.

The question I think would be if it is worth it to pay big money for Carlos and potentially stifle the development of Gomez who is already performing at high level at such a young age. Curious as to your assessment on Carlos and thoughts ed01? Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - not seen enough of him to judge him, sorry.}

Shame what's happened to him at spurs Ed, especially after they bought him for big money. Do you think we still hold an interest in him? He would be the ideal LB and LW cover, has real pace and a good eye for goal. Can cross as well.

ComeOnRedmen

{Ed001's Note - Klopp likes players to want to play for Liverpool over everyone else and Sessegnon had made it clear he wanted to go to Spurs, so I doubt Klopp would be interested in him.}

What's happened to Sessegnon at spurs ed? Always thought he was a good prospect but he's not played much since his move to spurs. Was the move up to spurs too big for him?

ComeOnRedmen

{Ed001's Note - I think it is more Spurs have no idea what to do with him. For all Pochettino was lauded for youth development, you have to ask who exactly he has brought through and improved. Now he is replaced by Jose, who will not like Sassegnon because he is not big and strong and powerful. Jose likes a team full of power. Sessegnon is not good enough in the air for Mourinho.}
