Just over from the United page lads.

See plenty of negativity on here atm, calls against owners etc. Yes, you're in a poor run, but things are never as bad as they seem. I even saw posts saying you were on you were way to mediocrity etc.

Reality is, you need some investment and freshening of the squad. Yet, two good midfielders in the door and you're flying again. Nunez is raw, but gets chances and I'm sure in time will convert more and more. You've a decent youth set up from what I can see, maybe time to throw one in and bring a bit of freshness. Different circumstances but I remember the lift United fans got when we had to throw rashford in years ago.

The past has shown that you wait for the right players and usually get them (Van Dijk and Alison spring to mind) . I've no doubt in the summer or maybe even January you will make adjustments. Believe me, from my experience panic buying is the worst thing possible.

You also have the benefit of in my eyes, the best manager in the world, or at least the second dependent on how you want to argue Pep. He will get it right, he does 9 times out of 10.

Anyway, good luck for rest of the season. Just thought I'd throw my thoughts over. I'm sure you'll be fine, and regardless of how the season ends you will be back stronger next season.

{Ed014's Note - I always said you were a nice guy Caolan ???

1.) 25 Oct 2022 11:03:27
Great post, Caolan.
Thanks for your input, mate.

2.) 25 Oct 2022 11:20:08
You are an absolute gentlemen sir. I'm not going to wish United luck because I don't want the sleeping giant to wake but I wish you all the luck in the world

Outside of football. ?.

3.) 25 Oct 2022 11:21:51
Respect to you, Caolan. Thanks for popping over. All the best.

4.) 25 Oct 2022 11:33:14
Spot on Caolan, a very reasonable assessment.

And refreshing to get it from an 'outsider'.

There are measured posters on the LFC pages but there's also the same repeated panic merchants posting the same old crap every time things don't go our way. And the way over the top reactions when things go well eg: reaction to Gomez having a solid game v City. Best in the country one weekend and sell him the next - just pathetic.

Everything you say about investment and giving new players time to settle is completely valid. As is your assessment of our Manager.

Personally, I always thought this season might be difficult. Trying to integrate some younger players - Elliot, Carvalho, Ramsey, (Konate and Diaz even? ) - whilst everyone seemed to assume Nunez would work immediately due to the fee. CF is a key position and he needs time to adjust to us (and learn scouse etc), as the team also need to adjust to him.

Football ain't just about the good times like we had last year (unless you're City ofcourse) . It's about adjusting and evolving and how you react to setbacks.

I also think we'll be OK eventually. People just need to be realistic and have some faith and patience, all seemingly lacking in today's culture.

5.) 25 Oct 2022 11:58:45
Nice one. It's weird seeing both of our teams mid table. Let's hope we can both sneak up the table.

6.) 25 Oct 2022 12:22:31
Unapologetically Negative…. We have a nose bleed atm. We haven’t been this far up in ages. The might heights of 5th ?.

7.) 25 Oct 2022 12:30:09
I’d imagine us and UTD would be the early favourites for the Championship title for the 23/ 24 season.

8.) 25 Oct 2022 15:40:56
Sometimes in life you are the windscreen sometimes you are the fly at this moment we are the proverbial fly, we must learn to use our wings more.

9.) 25 Oct 2022 16:11:05
I don’t really know how poorly run we actually are. Klopp seems to get off scott free in all this talk of transfers and planning. We never sign players he doesn’t want and he controls who we decide to keep.

This mythologised idea that John Henry is keeping Klopp hostage, demanding at gunpoint he works with what he has got, is absurd. Klopp at one point was happy to give Wijnaldum a new contract after he sabotaged our season and walked around the pitch for 6 months, then he demanded that they give Henderson a new contract when it was completely unnecessary, and then he admitted he would never push Ox or Keita out of the door despite the fact both have been our biggest weakness for years.

The club are shrewd and occasionally a bit stingy but this is a mess largely of Klopp’s making. He is too attached to this group of players and staff. People should stop looking for other people to blame.

10.) 25 Oct 2022 19:16:18
OK AA but is the money there if Klopp needs it? Or is he making light of the reality that it is not? The other teams in the so called top 6 plus newcastle will continue to spend big for success; will we? Not getting a top quality mid signed in the summer was a huge mistake. Nunez has contributed little so we could easily argue that the money would have been better spent on 1 or 2 mids.

11.) 25 Oct 2022 20:05:09
I thought Conte was asking for patience and money the other day.

12.) 26 Oct 2022 13:07:43
Nice one, OP. You speak way more sense than many LFC fans across SM throwing their toys out the pram based on every result that does not go their way.

@Annonymous Woolback, I kind of see where you're coming from regardin g what Klopp is doing with transfers and all that. For ex. according to ED01 in the last podcast and contrary to the rubbish I have been hearing and reading from many on SM, the money was there for Darwin and Tchouameni which were Klopp's top targets so this idea that he is never given money to get who he wants is hogwash. We got Darwin and Tchouameni went to RM. Fine.

We also know that we have options should the top guy cannot be signed (see Salah, Mane, Allison) hence, were the other options not considered? Were others considered and Klopp vetoed them cos he has done that before (vetoed Ben Chilwell to play Milner at LB in 16/ 17 season) or what was the issue? I asked ED01 about it and I cannot see where or whether he responded or not. If we can, we need to know how things work before making an accurate assessment. Ed01 can you pls, help here?

{Ed001's Note - Ben Chilwell was having off-field issues and Klopp wanted to steer clear.}

13.) 26 Oct 2022 16:14:35
Ok thanks, Ed01 on that one on Chilwell. Pls if you don't mind, could you comment on the question I asked in the same post regarding what happened after Tchouameni went to RM? Did Klopp not like the alternatives? Were there alternatives and did Klopp veto any of them if there were? Cheers, man.

{Ed001's Note - there were alternatives but none wanted to join. Laimer, for example, wanted Bayern, Bellingham had given his word to stay with Dortmund and didn't want to go back on it. I am sure there were others but I can't think of any off the top of my head.}

14.) 26 Oct 2022 18:16:10
With respect, they are not alternatives if they were never going to even get off the ground.
That’s a wish list.

15.) 27 Oct 2022 09:32:43
Thanks very much, ED01.

Juicer, all transfer lists are wish lists to begin with. Only when you start doing your due diligence, do you get the actual targets in terms of priority and rating based on what each one brings. Some will bring more, others will bring less.

Also, there are those names on top of the final list and those below and if let's say, Tchouameni, Bellingham and Laimer were on top of that list and didn't want to join or chose to go somewhere else, you are now going to the middle to the bottom of said list where the quality level decreases.

Then the question becomes at some point, "Is it really worth it at this point OR do we just keep our powder dry"? Not sure there are any good answers to that question cos if you panic-buy, you get a player like Arthur (who had fitness issues to begin with) at the end of the day. That's the issue, IMO.

Just thought I'd pop over before the game lads. I must say it's amazing to see the support Ronaldo is receiving. As many have said, more important things than a game.

A credit to your club.

Enjoy the game, I think you'll rack up a big score tonight. Good luck for the rest of the season too. Hurts to say, but you're on another level. Hopefully we can be back competing with you sooner rather than later.

1.) 19 Apr 2022 17:23:04
Thanks Caolan good man. We will all be happy with a scrappy 1-0 I’m sure!

2.) 19 Apr 2022 17:47:02
Well said. Your club deserve better than the last few years.

3.) 19 Apr 2022 17:47:45
Thanks Caolan, feels like a perfect game for Mo to play back into scoring form for me.
Hopefully ETH can get a tune out of your players for the fans sake.

4.) 19 Apr 2022 18:01:24
Big respect Caolan👍.

13 Jul 2018 11:34:07
I know it's already been posted here lads, but myself and ed007 are trying to run a Fifa premier league for the posters on the pages both Xbox and PlayStation. Fifa 19, probably run on ultimate team. If you haven't put your name forward yet, and are interested, let ed007 know over on the video games page! Cheers guys

Caolán.

Caolan_2

{Ed007's Note - If anyone's interested come and see us over on the VIDEO GAMES page (we don't want to clog up the football sites) or drop me an e-mail at ed007@live.co.uk with your name, gamertag and what console you play on.
It doesn't matter what level of player you are, it's all just a bit of fun and everyone is welcome so don't be shy lads or even laddettes.}

26 Jun 2018 11:07:56
Alright lads, over on the video games page Ed007 and myself have came up with the idea of creating a fifa premier league for the site on both PlayStation and Xbox. If anyone is keen for this let us know, either platform.
We are looking 20 players for each to do a 38 game season, one game a week and we will look after the points, goals etc. If anyone fancies it let us know!
Could be a chance to have a bit of craic over the headsets as well.
Cheers Caolán.

1.) 26 Jun 2018 11:23:55
Would love to but where is the video game page?

{Ed001's Note - Video Games page

2.) 26 Jun 2018 11:55:10
Damn it you guys just came up with another compelling reason for me to buy a games console! And obviously I’d need a 4K tv to play from. and a gaming chair oh damn this is going to get expensive and it’s all your fault! I’ll tell my mum it’s all second hand.

3.) 26 Jun 2018 12:22:10
Caolan_2

Count me in for the ps4 league if one gets set up.

10.) 26 Jun 2018 13:29:49
Nintendo 64 would be great.

11.) 26 Jun 2018 14:04:52
I had to walk away from online gaming entirely, 2 years ago, because of an unhealthy addiction. Great idea though and I hope it takes off.

12.) 26 Jun 2018 14:18:30

Hi fellas, not here to chat about the game on Saturday ( a bit to nervous for that! ) . I was just wondering if any of the Liverpool fans could explain what actually happened with Gabriel Heinze? How close was he to joining Liverpool, I was very young at the time and don't remember much about the situation! Was he close to a move? Perhaps ed001 could enlighten me?
Cheers
Caolán.

Caolan_2

{Ed001's Note - I suppose it depends what you call close. Everything was agreed apart from any kind of deal with United. Heinze wanted the move and had handed in a written transfer request to make it happen. His agent had spoken to Liverpool and agreed a deal in principle. Everything was all ready and set except for getting Alex Ferguson to let him join Liverpool. That was never going to happen, so it was not really close in that sense. The board deferred to Fergie, though they would have been happy to take the deal if he had not said no. Basically it was all down to Ferguson's say-so.}

1.) 11 Oct 2017 09:57:40
Cheers ed, I've heard various things such as he was going to go on strike? What did you think of him as a player?

{Ed001's Note - he did go on strike for a while, but it had no effect on Ferguson. If anything it just made him more determined to block the move.

Heinze was a very good defender, he was exactly what Liverpool needed at the time as well. From the point of view of Man Utd, Ferguson did the right thing really.}

2.) 11 Oct 2017 12:16:06
Frankly, any of our former LFC managers would have done the exact same thing Fergie did.

3.) 11 Oct 2017 17:24:39
I agree Bingo. Still hate him for doing it though. Saying that I would hate him anyway so my post is pretty pointless 😂.

4.) 11 Oct 2017 23:25:29
It still baffles me why Liverpool tried to sign him or why Heinze thought this move had any chance whatsoever.
He was a good player and exactly what Liverpool needed but the whole world could see Ferguson would never sell anyone to us, not even a virus lol.

5.) 11 Oct 2017 21:39:39
Cheers for the insight ed!

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

God you lads don't get on well at times.

Anfield away is our hardest game of the season, always is. No matter what the standards of the Liverpool team. So of course we would sit in, Fergie did it several times. 08 and 07 really stand out.

But ensuring that you are solid defensively is not saying we haven't come here to win. The tactics were to stop you scoring, and nick a goal to you know win the football match.

Oli, I am very familiar with Uniteds problems mate and in no way have I suggested once that we are a top team or that its a phenomenal result or anything. I have engaged with a lot of people on this site before, and usually get on just fine with them. Your own comments do reek of arrogance, as after all it was not that long ago that Liverpool were in the pits either. I am sure you remember it well. You seem greatly upset that you didn't beat what was a very poor United side, but don't take it to heart.

Caolan_2

{Ed025's Note - fair input to the debate there Caolan..

From a United perspective lads.

I think yesterday your players just thought they had to turn up- tbh I thought the same myself.

To say we only came for a draw and didn't try to win is disrespectful, I have seen better United sides come to Anfield and get battered. We had two huge chances we didn't take, I know you had plenty yourselves. But there is more than one way to skin a cat.

If we tried to go toe to toe and lost 5-0 he likely would be getting sacked, or at least more calls for him to be.

Anyway, shocking game but good luck moving forward.

MK- we don’t compare him to fergie. It isn’t possible to achieve that success or even perform to that level. That might be your view from the outside.

On ETH. Look at what he has had on his plate, if we remove our bias, we would admit the job has been a damn good one. Are we near where we want to be as a club? No. I won’t come on here and tell you the league cup and 3rd or 4th is where we should be. But after the Brentford game of, if you included how we finished the previous season we were relegation form. He’s responsible for the turnaround.

Martinez- superb. Casemiro- superb. Malacia- as cover has done well and pushes shaw to another level. Antony- over priced, but due to incompetence we paid nearly double what we could have had him for weeks previous.
In terms of the January loans- we had no money due to the incompetence of how our club is run. Yes we spend money, but a lot of that is on the credit card.

Ten hag has to our fans believing again and that’s all that matters. You guys were at the bottom when Klopp came in and he got you believing again. Whether ten hag can achieve league titles or European cups remains to be seen. But from the little evidence we have of his time in charge, he’s a damn good manager with a big project on his hands.

Saw a comment saying ten hag is an overrated manager. Have to disagree. He inherited an absolute mess of a club. A club on its knees.

Money helps- but he only got that money after the drubbing at Brentford and it came from a credit line from the bank. Not the signs of a well run club.

I posted here a long time ago, and right now still maintain Klopp will get you back to the top challenging no problem. You’ve finished the season strong and need a few players to freshen things up, but I’ve no doubt you will do that. Next season could be a corker, if we recruit properly and get a number 9 I can see us picking up another 10-15 points across the season.

Remember lads, for all the top clubs. You’re only one or two players away from being able to challenge. If things are right off the pitch, then the work their way out on it.

Cheers for a good race to top 4. I have no doubt you will be better next year, and I hope we can continue improving.

Just from the outside looking in.

I’ve always backed Klopp to turn you guys around, as you will see on previous posts I’ve done on here before. However, I don’t think you can blame the number 2 for form and tactics etc. main reason being Klopp will have the final say, and he will be the one who wants him there.

For what it’s worth, I still think Klopp will turn you around and as long as he still has that drive he came with he will get you right back to the top competing. He needs some back this window and allowed to make the changes he needs. Most importantly he needs all the Liverpool fans to stick with him.

Best of luck for remainder of the season fellas.
