I can't for the life of me understand why we have to play 433 every single game, we haven't the personnel/ legs currently to play this system. is there no other formation available with all the top coaches we have. can we not load up in midfield to try and sturdy the goddamn ship. I don't usually post negative but f*** me it is so frustrating.

1.) 17 Jan 2023 19:28:18
It's very hard to change the system and work on it, on one day's training in between games.

2.) 17 Jan 2023 19:36:43
Surely it's time to start. where better.

3.) 17 Jan 2023 20:41:32
imo we've barely played 433 this season. At least not the way we used to two or three years ago. The midfield is not operating in the same way at all. One of them is constantly either pushing out onto the right or up into a #10 role.

But lo and behold, we've played 433 tonight and have suddenly started pressing again. Amazing.

4.) 17 Jan 2023 20:44:04
We are playing well presently. Pressing well and a lot hungrier.

5.) 17 Jan 2023 21:29:29
Every single game has been 433, delighted the young lads have shown hunger tonight, absolutely refreshing, a lot of the regulars should be ashamed of themselves.

6.) 17 Jan 2023 21:48:43
Bacjetic was excellent in my opinion looks a very good prospect, reads the game well, good passer, can get out of tight situations and very composed. He didn’t look out of place playing against prem opposition tonight, so really hope he builds on this for the rest of the season.

This kid could save us a fortune in the near future.

7.) 17 Jan 2023 22:20:38
In my opinion he had a better game than Thiago, and that definitely tells you something.

09 Jan 2023 05:50:38
Wasn't finished, fat fingers, but ya midfield next, if it takes a year or two then so be it, at long term plans is all I see in action after an action packed 4 years. ? ynwa.

1.) 09 Jan 2023 07:36:48
A year or 2 Klopp will he gone and it’ll all be back to
normal anyway.

2.) 09 Jan 2023 08:51:59
What's normal, Mr Bean?

3.) 09 Jan 2023 09:44:55
Thursday night trips to Spartak Chernobyl.

4.) 09 Jan 2023 10:57:36
You'd never think we won five European Cups before Klopp, would you?

5.) 09 Jan 2023 11:24:20
In all reality it's tongue in cheek, defeatism can be good humoured at times.

I think we will be fine, there are no obvious candidates to take over from Klopp as a top class manager - in time those will emerge, and one will come to us

In time we will have new ownership too, a couple of rubbish years as an absolute worst case scenario - but we've been treated to far more great times than the majority of football fans and we'll have plenty of them again. In the meantime we may as well have a laugh at our own expense.

6.) 09 Jan 2023 11:46:17
Challenging for sod all Rigsby other than the odd closely run challenge of course, unless you want to look 30 odd years ago, We do like to point to the history books to make us feel a bit better while other teams are actively out there improving and trying to be the best they can. Let’s face it if Klopp hadn’t of came in we’d still have nothing to shout about in the modern era other than the 2005 cl win!

7.) 09 Jan 2023 12:11:58
The history books of last season, Beany? Saying that, I bet you were not happy last season.

8.) 09 Jan 2023 12:55:36
I don't think most fans would have been happy now should they be, why settle. No award for ‘almost winning everything’, granted we can respect how well we did do but it doesn’t mean we should be ecstatic.

9.) 09 Jan 2023 14:24:03
Who said you be ecstatic, Jerry?

Mr Bean said: Challenging for sod all Rigsby other than the odd closely run challenge of course, unless you want to look 30 odd years ago,

We challenged for everything last season. You don't need the history books or to be ecstatic about it but it's true. If you prefer emotional nonsense, it's ok with me.

10.) 09 Jan 2023 14:28:54
You mean you 2 domestic cups that we couldn’t score a goal in Rigsby?

11.) 09 Jan 2023 14:50:05
We won both domestic cups Mr Bean are you for real? No matter what happened in the finals we won every round and lifted the trophies. What are you on about?
In football all you can ask from your club is to be challenging for the big prizes. If you’re challenging then sometimes it’ll go your way and other times it won’t but you are always in with a shout.
It’s ridiculous to criticise any club for losing in a CL final or losing the league by a point. A ref’s decision here or an injury there and it could’ve gone the other way. The point is we were there with a more than realistic chance of winning everything last season. We got closer than any team has ever done in the history of English football.

12.) 09 Jan 2023 14:50:24
We competed in them and won them both, Beany. We didn't need to score a goal because the opposition couldn't score a goal against us.
I don't need the history books but if you want to look it up, you'll see that Liverpool won both cups.

13.) 09 Jan 2023 15:05:00
Ok so we won both finals, we were well beaten by madrid, never looked like scoring in all honesty and let’s be honest at every opportunity we had to pull ahead of city on run in we fluffed our lines. City were never ever going to lose the league, they had gears to go up at any opportunity we just getting over the line.

So why didn’t we go out and buy what was needed to close the gap? That is my point, not I’m not happy with the cups but the club have such little ambition it’s painful, it’s all a wing and a prayer, let Klopp work bud magic rather than giving the bloke what he needs.

14.) 09 Jan 2023 15:17:23
Rigsby and Beckers, haven't you heard? Not scoring a goal in a final YET winning it via penalties is now the new stick cooked up by the media and our rivals to beat us with and even our fans embarrassingly eat it up. Never heard of such nonsense till last season when we YES WON both trophies.

A multitude of teams and countries have won Cups, CL's, Euro's and WC's winning on penalties without scoring a single goal in the final and NEVER in all my years heard the being criticised for it. I guess this is how tribal football has become.

As for our fans who repeat this nonsense, you complain when we don't win and YET when we do win, you still complain. Since NOTHING the club does or wins will EVER be good enuff for you then why do you even support LFC to begin with? No, serious question.

15.) 09 Jan 2023 15:56:11
"We were well beaten by Madrid". Sorry, a 1 nil game where Madrid got ONE shot on target and won 1-0 is now considered well beaten? Sorry, I stopped reading after that rubbish.

16.) 09 Jan 2023 17:31:51
Gutted you stopped reading Oli, madrid were the better team far as I can remember other than mane fluffed chance we did nothing. Madrid had the lead why did they need to create loads?

17.) 09 Jan 2023 21:23:06
Courtois was Man of the Match.
Was it for his distribution?

18.) 10 Jan 2023 12:51:19
Mr. Bean must be a troll or replacating the fun of Rowan Atkinson. No other logical answer on why he acts like that.

09 Jan 2023 05:48:43
Just my simple thoughts.

Please engage, since klopp came we have fixed one thing at a time.
A year ago the Golden attack needed reassembling, its assemebled, needs work but its there. Midfield next, which I think will be done,

Butherarsh

1.) 09 Jan 2023 08:45:24
OP, I ear you. The issue is that they could have fixed it gradually over the past 3 years at least years and Klopp deliberately did not do this despite funds being made available to do it. I have NO idea why he did not do this cos he had to have known that the longer he waited or gambled or remained loyal to his players, things were going to get messy for him and he would be the one left holding the back. What advice was he taking on this topic? I don't know, bro cos Klopp is a very smart cookie.

2.) 09 Jan 2023 08:57:21
Klopp deliberately didn't fix an ageing midfield, Oli? Why do you think that?
Do you not think he would have signed the 'right' midfielders for us? Someone like Tchouameni?

3.) 09 Jan 2023 09:38:12
He did do it Oli he signed Thiago, Keita with Elliott and Carvalho coming through. He tried to sign Tchouameni and Bissouma if you believe the reports too and I believe (contrary to what Ed2 says) that Bellingham has agreed he will sign so we just need to stump up the money for him.
I just think that our midfield is difficult to play in you have to have a very specific skill set. Thiago can’t do it and he was regarded as one of the best in the world when we signed him. Keita has been unable to adapt to it too so I’m pretty sure that Klopp knows he can’t make any more mistakes in that area so will wait for the right players.

4.) 09 Jan 2023 10:20:56
Good grief, are we really going to use the "he wanted Tchouameni but he wasn't available" excuse forever?

Waiting for the right player is sensible but not at the expense of the existing team's performance levels. Sometimes you have to compromise to secure business as usual level of performance.

Right now this midfield needs help for this season. It needed the help at the start of the season. It needed the help last season in all honesty. It needs physicality and legs, now. There are options out there. There is value out there. It doesn't haven to be a unicorn.

Secondly, the team is struggling to press at the moment, for whatever reason. We need to find a way to become more compact and aggressively protect our back four. I don't care how. Just do it.

5.) 09 Jan 2023 09:45:17
Folks shouldn't be forgetting the effect the C.V. C.V. had on finances.

6.) 09 Jan 2023 09:50:19
Seems the same posters who were defending the club saying we didn't have money coz of C. V. Today are saying "Klopp didn't fix midfield past 3 yrs deliberately" wtf? ?.

7.) 09 Jan 2023 10:43:22
I firmly believe he has not been backed by the owners. Klopp isn't the type of manager who will rock the boat and risk creating a toxic atmosphere like a Mourinho or a Conte, especially with him being here for the long haul.

He'll give his players the credit, and will happily go along with pretending he's perfectly happy with his options - but the reality is FSG either can't or won't make the funds available to bring in the additions he needs.

{Ed002's Note - So Klopp lied (again) about not wanting a midfield player in the summer. Add that to his tapping up of AT and perhaps that paints a more accurate picture of him.}

8.) 09 Jan 2023 11:06:29
Use the Tchouameni excuse forever?
He showed interest in the summer!
Klopp compromised and brought in Arthur.
When you want problems solving straight away, you might get Arthur what you wished for.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool made no approach to Monaco for AT in the summer, Klopp simply illegally tapped him up.}

9.) 09 Jan 2023 11:10:13
Think you're right Ed. Surely there must have been knowledge from within the club way beforehand that Tchouameni was a no-go, seemed very happy to target him with absolutely zero realistic alternatives. Especially considering our 'world class' scouting team will have been aware of the need to draw up a list of potential midfielders since 2020 (when we knew Gini was likely to leave)

10.) 09 Jan 2023 11:32:36
Rigsby - I give up. The cult of Klopp has gripped you.

11.) 09 Jan 2023 11:40:31
are we talking abt the same Klopp who said "he would have liked to take more risks in Transfer market" when he was forced to take athur on loan?

Or are we taking Abt Tchoumeni agent who said we were very close to land he's client publicly?

Or we've quickly forgotten it was the same site here where we were told we had no money coz of C. V loses?

Seems some people have some short memories here ?.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp was not forced to take Arthur on loan - it was his decision. Liverpool were hardly close to signing AT as they were not one of the clubs that spoke to Monaco.}

12.) 09 Jan 2023 12:10:39
Ed2 mate but he's agent said we were very close. Yes Klopp wasn't forced to sign Athur hence we didn't sign him but coz of our limitations in transfer market hence we had to take him on loan.

There's no secret when you've mike Gordon saying he's worried we can't compete in transfer market against our rivals ?.

{Ed002's Note - There was no approach to Monaco at all - hence their complaint to UEFA. Why are you struggling to see this?}

13.) 09 Jan 2023 12:17:15
Ed002, I take it that Klopp had an interest in Tchouameni if he 'illegally' tapped him up. I said Klopp had an interest in a top clas midfielder which is not completely neglecting it.

What were Klopp's exact words about not wanting a midfielder and when did he use them?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, there was clear interest else he would not have visited to meet the player. No doubt someone else will find you a link to the bile about not wanting a midfield player.}

14.) 09 Jan 2023 12:50:32
Ed002 so is Klopp not just doing what Haaland did by texting Akanji telling him that City wanted him, it's football, not being funny but you need to get over your issue with Klopp, players and managers alike ALL do it.

{Ed002's Note - No. Klopp is cheating - I have an issue with liars and cheats, not Klopp.

15.) 09 Jan 2023 13:23:29
So what are your feelings on Alex Ferguson or Jose Mourinho both known liars and cheats?

{Ed002's Note - Why try and make it about someone else who you know nothing about? Embarrassing.}

16.) 09 Jan 2023 14:28:18
Thanks for clarifying the interest in Tchouameni, Ed002.

I'm not going to hold my breath for a link about what Klopp said, in what context and when but I'm sure 'bile' is too strong a word for it.

17.) 09 Jan 2023 15:46:02
Rigsby and Beckers, I apologize. "Deliberately" was the wrong word to use. What I meant to say was that he had a chance to buy or even loan the midfielder he necessarily may not have wanted BUT in fact, needed to help out since his first choices were not available (Tchouameni, Bellingham, Laimer etc) and he did not. In fact Matheus Nunes was offered to him and he said no and now apparently, reports say he will sign next summer. Wait, what da football?

In fact, he said it himself after Arthur arrived that he only got him in cos Hendo got injured at the time so essentially, had Hendo not gotten injured, Arthur would not even be here. Sorry, that is gross negligence, IMO. There's only so long you can get away with the "looking for the right player" schstick, my guys esp. if you're playing crap and getting killed in midfield.

Also, keep in mind that even on that deadline day when Arthur appeared, Klopp wanted his Juve team mate Zakaria first but he was on his way to Chelsea so we got Arthur which is baffling cos Zakaria fits the athletic, ground-covering mid for the normal Klopp system whereas Arthur is more of a possession mid for the system we play now. Again, what da football? Listen, not going to act like I know stuff cos Im just repeating info shared on here by the Ed's which leads me to believe that NOBODY stifled Klopp financially at the club into not getting any midfielder. He made that decision himself and admitted it. Peace and Love, bros.

18.) 09 Jan 2023 16:56:35
Oli, I agree that Klopp should have brought in at least one more midfielder. What I don't agree with are the reasons why given on here.
Most of us haven't a clue why and most of us haven't a clue about who we could have got anyway.

19.) 09 Jan 2023 16:29:06
Ed002, Lavish asks a sensible question, them 2 were two of the worst culprits of tapping up players, usually by getting their players to do it, Pep does it as well, everyone does it, Klopp isn't the one who suddenly started doing it because no ones else ever did, you def have a grudge against Jurgen Ha Ha.

{Ed002's Note - You can give me a list of examples. Having players do it is a probnlem for the authorities - otherwise the likes of Gerrard would have been reprimanded. There have been many complaints about Klopp and this season I am aware of five complaints having been recorded - with three against Liverpool and two against another side. It needs to stop. Liverpool supports need to get out of their embarrising habit of blaiming others. And nobody has suggested Klopp has just started doing it, he was reprimanded at Dortmund for doing it.}

20.) 10 Jan 2023 12:40:53
Too much money in football for any kind of reprimand to matter, FFP is the best example of that, the rich always do what they want and football is the same, it's a guarantee that all clubs and managers are at it.

Hi to all.
There is a group of us heading to Wembley for a few days for the final, no tickets got and would love some help/ direction towards getting some? We can get chelsea tickets alright 😅.

Hi all, interested to read your opinions on, when all players fit, who would be the starting midfield?

Edd one I'd love to hear a short analysis on how you think our midfield has performed so far this season.

YNWA.

Butherarsh

1.) 09 Nov 2021 03:25:43
Henderson Fabinho Thiago.

2.) 09 Nov 2021 03:26:01
In respecting the time honored and much revered tradition on these pages, "RTFP". 😁.

3.) 09 Nov 2021 04:40:20
Thiago?
When fit?
Fabinho, Henderson, Elliott, for me.

4.) 09 Nov 2021 06:13:41
Fabinho, Henderson and Thiago.

5.) 09 Nov 2021 06:39:20
Elliot gets in as the first one.

6.) 09 Nov 2021 07:04:19
Juicer Thiago is world-class. One of the best midfielders of the last decade. The issue is his fitness has been poor. And when he was fit last season, he had to cover defensively as Fabinho was covering at centre-back which he isn't very good at. We haven't seen the best of Thiago in a Liverpool shirt yet.

7.) 09 Nov 2021 07:10:24
Henderson, Fabinho and Elliott, by some distance.

Thiago is only good at unlocking those tricky defences, when fit of course 😄😄.

8.) 09 Nov 2021 08:07:33
Henderson Fabinho and Thiago when all fit and in firm, sadly Thiago is never fit and Fabinho hasn’t looked anywhere near his best this season.

9.) 09 Nov 2021 08:24:10
Thiago starts. As he controls the tempo of the game and I disagree with Irish when the team presses us we need one guy to sustain the press and turn into transition. Thiago Alcantara is the world's best in that job.
Fabinho starts as we don't have another one to fill.
The third midfielder could be anyone. I would go with Keita as he is excellent at keeping the ball.

10.) 09 Nov 2021 09:12:09
@Seano, agree about Fabs, his form has dropped this year and with VVD behind still not fully recovered for the serious injury the ‘shield’ in front of Ali isn’t as formidable as it was which is also impacting Ali’s confidence.

With Bobby taking a while to get his game going this season that also impacted the ‘spine’ of the team and it is a real shame that he did his hamstring just as he looked like he was regaining consistent form.

I think the problem is that we can be ‘got at’ and although I thought that, up until mid October we were building momentum, I think the team self confidence has taken a knock and, even if we are ahead, if the opposition score one it rattles our confidence.

That said, I still don’t think there is anything to panic about. Fabs and VVD have it in them to reach previous levels and I think the spine of the team is basically sound.

11.) 09 Nov 2021 09:23:05
Elliot has only played 4 games for us this season so its quite surprising he's elevated to first choice midfielder in the squad. Elliot has massive potential but he is only a drop of form away from being the problem. Just like Robbo has gone from World class Left back in a CL and PL winning side to the Naby/ Wiji scapegoat.

12.) 09 Nov 2021 10:08:48
Elliot. He is young but he starts for me. He offers something different to all the ones listed above. You can tell even in that short time he can hang in the league. Not only hang in the league but make a difference and he is what, 18 years old? Klopp and the coaching staff must like him because he was keeping a few of those on the bench prior to his injury.

13.) 09 Nov 2021 10:46:46
Sure you could say that about any player JK. That they are a drop in form away from being the problem?

For me Thiago is a show pony, looks pretty with the odd nice touch. He's nearly a season and a half in, nobody can say he was worth the investment or the crazy wages, put Keita also in that bracket. Doesn't leave us with much mind!

14.) 09 Nov 2021 11:13:33
Irish you're correct mate. I really like the look of Elliot but for me its too early for us to hang our hat on him as our first choice midfielder mate as i think its a little bit disrespectful to Hendo and Fab etc who have all played a major part in the PL and CL victories.

Elliot is def the future but is he our first choice midfielder. For me personally at this stage no.

15.) 09 Nov 2021 12:49:40
For me putting Elliott in midfield is more of a slur on our other midfielders, Ox, Keita, Thiago etc and I think he has a wee bit more going for him than Jones. For me Hendo and Fab are a shoe in.

16.) 09 Nov 2021 13:17:07
Fabinho lost his father in August didn’t he?
Not an easy situation for him, so let’s cut him some slack please?

17.) 09 Nov 2021 14:25:20
Absolutely, juicer. Well said mate, it's still very raw for the lad.

18.) 09 Nov 2021 19:26:14
No one said Elliot has to play every game but the question was who is first choice. Elliot has more legs that anyone else in the midfield position and the lad pass and press. Unfortunately there are question marks over all our other midfielders. The injury may set him back a little but he will be first choice when fit very soon. Keita has been our best midfielder this season and that says everything.

19.) 09 Nov 2021 19:51:00
@Juicer well said about Fab’s dad (and I guess the same would go for Ali too) .

Off the pitch it has been a heartbreaking year for a couple of the lads. I, for one, haven’t been taking that into account.

20.) 09 Nov 2021 21:01:54
Hendo, Fab and Thiago when everyone is fit. Elliott is a talent and was playing well till his unfortunate injury BUT he is not a patch on any of those 3, IMO. At least, not yet. Let’s give him time to develop and grow before we start hyping him up as a starter cos we don’t even know if that is the position he will play long term.

21.) 10 Nov 2021 03:32:49
Nice responses, I'd agree with most if myself, at the chance of sounding a slight bit negative, I personally think raw pace and power is missing in the middle of the park.
I read everyday aray 😊.

22.) 10 Nov 2021 06:47:49
Mark “he will be first choice when fit very soon” that’s a statement not an opinion.

Only person who would know that is Klopp.

Kind of my point SR, frustration at the lack of enthusiasm that has been shown this season, rather than ability to do so maybe, it would be imperative that the same application is shown for the rest of the premier league season so we don't end up in the conference of Europe next season.

Its true the squad is aging but *uck me there's a lot of football left in the lads yet. salahs fitness and ability in my eyes sees him at the top of most scoring charts for another four years. most of the lads aren't even 30 yet.
Not for one second do I believe klopp would leave us in the *hit before he departs, be happy and grateful for the best time in 30-40 years 😁.

Top performance yesterday, what a way to bounce back!
Cant condone either managers behaviour, as the face of their clubs they should be leading with example.
Chrisht I just love watching the boys win :)
