Hey Eds and Reds,
I read on an ESPN transfer website (normally drivel to drive traffic), that Tottenham are looking to reunite Lallana and Poch for 20 mill.

I think it was Ed01 who said that he would not force Lallana out, but would take a decent offer. Just seeing if there is any truth that he is a target?

Also if there is merit in letting him go, as that is a good return, but I am somewhat conflicted on Lallana. He does run his mouth too much but he has been one of the few who seems to really enjoy playing for the shirt and he does try. Could we see him move?

Astral Fissure

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of. I would have to say he can't be aware of it as of yet either, as he has not said anything to people about it. Like you said he does tend to run his mouth, which is why I am amazed he joined us, as he said a lot of things about us in the past when he turned us down a few years before.}

1.) 09 May 2016 18:13:14
Hope so please.

2.) 09 May 2016 18:16:39
I'm trying to think who would fetch 20-25 mil in England, I'd be surprised if anyone offered that straight of the bat for benteke, maybe sturridge?

3.) 09 May 2016 18:23:49
Michy Batshuayi, Alexandre Lacazette and Mauro Icardi.

4.) 09 May 2016 18:38:11
Batshuayi or lacazette will be the €30 mil bid that he is talking about but he then said if that is unsuccessful the will bid £20-25 mil for an English based striker, tgey have been linked with benteke, bony and sturridge. Looking at the types of players the French based lads are I would be surprised if it was benteke or bony.

5.) 10 May 2016 09:53:45
Actually I heard that the £20m bid from West Ham in the Premier League was for Theo Walcott. Which is good news from our perspective as it means that we won't be linked with him any more!

6.) 10 May 2016 11:56:45
What did Lallana say about us in the past ed?

{Ed001's Note - said he would never join us as he was an Everton fan.}

7.) 10 May 2016 12:22:59
This is non sense. Klop values Lallana who is one of the first names on the team sheet. Lallana suits the Klop pressing game. Lazy journalism looking for sensational stories to print.

8.) 10 May 2016 13:54:00
I know Klopp seems to favour Lallana (calling him his neighbour), but I believe Klopp would not stake his relationship or the potential of the team on any player.

Lallana can be upgraded if we are to challenge for greater prizes as his end product and score ration is woeful (does a nice FIFA turn though) . Same goes for Henderson for me.

Maybe someone like Kevin Volland could be such.

cue the naysayers.

9.) 10 May 2016 15:19:16
Actually if Lallana can sold and use to fund say. Reus. Seriously y not?

10.) 10 May 2016 17:56:11
Leek, you really should get any idea of Reus joining out of your head.

11.) 10 May 2016 18:47:51
No way we sell Lallana to a rival club and I can't see him pushing for a move to get there. I personally think he's been one of our more consistent players this year; he hasn't scored a ton, but he's chipped in with a fair few now, and he's clever with the ball when he gets it. Some of our best games this season have come with Firmino, Lallana and Coutinho attacking.

I feel our midfield is one of the deepest in the league, we just needed some time to get used to Klopp's style of play and some luck to avoid injuries to our forwards and centerbacks. Knowing Ings, Origi, Henderson, Gomez and Sakho will be back next year with Grujic and Matip in the mix makes me really look forward to next season.

12.) 11 May 2016 06:33:24
Brisbane, people were telling me same thing when i say i hope klopp join liverpool. Look what happen. U will never dream alone.

As a fan of the Lion King. Was thinking Takumi’s theme song could be to Hakuna Matatata. Something like “football poetry, attacking philosophy, Takumi Minanna. ”.

Astral Fissure

1.) 20 Dec 2019 09:36:40
Clearly going to be the muppet shows “Minamino do-do-do-do-do. Minamino do-do-do-do” and repeat 😂.

2.) 20 Dec 2019 11:10:27
The muppet show song used to be McManaman's song. Someone cleverly suggested "I think I'm turning Japanese". got to be.

3.) 20 Dec 2019 12:11:29
I hope it won't be Despacito. Miiiiiinamino bla bla bla blalabla Minamino.

4.) 20 Dec 2019 12:15:48
Should probably leave his ethnicity/ race out of the song. I’m not saying you were being racist or anything, it’s just some could see it that way, especially with a crowd of thousands singing it.

5.) 20 Dec 2019 13:31:31
TJ - I’m not aware of any pushback on Egyptian King song so why would there be any issue with turning Japanese lyrics?

6.) 20 Dec 2019 13:38:54
Best we stop singing the song about our Egyptian King too them, TjRed.

7.) 20 Dec 2019 15:42:56
I'm not sure how referring to a Japanese person as 'Japanese' could in any way be construed as racist. 🤔
We sing about Mo Salah being an 'Egyptian king', I've never heard anyone suggest that could be seen as racism?

8.) 20 Dec 2019 15:45:10
should be an automatic ban for people suggesting songs on here. Please implement this rule Ed.

9.) 20 Dec 2019 16:09:40
I'm assuming you guys don't know what the song 'Turning Japanese' is actually about?! I doubt our new signing would be too impressed if he found out :D.

10.) 20 Dec 2019 16:18:05
unfortunately turning Japanese is mostly remembered for the eye gestures that's why.

11.) 20 Dec 2019 20:09:35
I'm still disappointed that the Kop haven't adopted Navigator by the Pogues as Naby Keita's song. That would be so class.

12.) 21 Dec 2019 03:28:24
Honestly I’m not of the mindset it is offensive at all, but I’m sure some snowflake will be. That’s all I’m saying.

13.) 21 Dec 2019 03:39:22
The image of a bunch of white guys (the band) singing "I think I'm turning Japanese" would be an eyebrow raiser these days lol but yeah I personally don't think this is one is that bad but that actual song would be lame imo lol

Also, why do ya'll only ever make reference to the ethnic background of the 'foreign' players? haha, like ya never hear a song about the anglo-saxons crusading and canibbalizing their way across the middle east hahaha

I like the link to the Despacito song. The crowd can mumble very loudly the rest of the lyrics like the rest of the chants!

14.) 21 Dec 2019 05:32:08
The tiniest amount of research, Stoneage, would explain that is an urban myth and there's nothing negative (or Japanese) about the song at all.

15.) 21 Dec 2019 17:33:01
When people call something racist when it obviously isn't, it makes me wonder if they've ever been offended by racism.

Credit where it is due. Mane is giving all he can. Hope Wijnaldum makes a guest appearance and gets some touches in the last 10 mins of second half.

One of the things that stuck with me this year was Carra's comments that it has been a long time since Liverpool purchased the finished product of a player in the transfer market.
With Zielinski and Karius looking odds on to sign, and a lot of smoke around Gotze (although could still go either way), I was wondering who would be that one realistic signing that could come in and have a huge impact.

Looking at the team, with Lallana, Hendo, Milner, Can, Firminho, Allen and Coutinho (plus possibly Markovic and the development of Ibe as well as Ojo, Stewart and Chirvella development) we are stacked in midfield then there is Zielinski who I don't know enough about if he comes as a starter, and possibly Gotze.

A fit Sturridge is lethal, Ings looked like he was in for a good campaign before the injury and Origi has come leaps and bounds, leaves the defence.

Clyne has locked down the RB with Flanno backup, Moreno and Stewart could hopefully push each other so we have LB covered and we have Matip, Lovren, Skrtel, Ilori and Gomez for CB, and Mignolet, Ward and looks like Karius at GK.

I think some people in midfield will go namely Allen and with the shortage of LB's, think a commanding CB and/ or a Top tier GK would be the way to go.

Not expexting Lahm as a DM, Neuer as a GK or Alba as a LB, but a Godin or a Handanovic could be reasonable. What are people's thought on how the squad should shape up and where LFC should buy the finished product?

Astral Fissure

1.) 17 May 2016 06:32:41
Honestly we will have to wait until preseason properly begins before we can have a real good look at the players coming back from loan and players being brought in to see how the squad will shape up for the next season. I think we will have a good idea by August. I personally feel like the finished product should be a midfielder, preferably a more defensive minded one, someone that gives the likes of can and Henderson more license to go forward and be able to dominate and cover the midfield. There are some decent players out there but they would cost. I don't think klopp will go for the finished article unfortunately hence the signing of zielinski.

2.) 17 May 2016 06:57:39
if we get diego godin we would win the league, he is that good and criminally under rated. This guy is the leader of the miser Athletico defence that has stuck it up to Barcelona and real in la liga and has reached CL final twice in three years, beating teams like Barcelona nd bayern!

3.) 17 May 2016 07:10:51
Squad is bloated, but expect a good amount to leave. I can think of 6/ 7 first team players which could go. They'll also be 1 or 2 surprise departures.
We should under Klopp compete for four trophies next season (should under any coach, but he seems more demanding then the last one) .

I think he has come to realise that the championship, as we as 'lesser' prem sides are of a much higher standard then their equivalent in Germany, Italy etc. I think that loans will happen in contradiction to his previous act and comments. Ward, for example, will be one who might be loaned over selling. Just my guess, of course.

We already have the players and squad to compete, so adding quality that is better then what we have and Karius can't be worse then Mignolet. Zielinski could be better and younger then Stewert, more likely to push Henderson or Can for first team, which inturn improves their game. Gotze under Klopp could be better then Lallana in the way of scoring as Lallana has improved in terms of energy and pressing. You'll have to trust Klopp on signings, he has reached two cup finals and used 95% of the squad so he will know.

Seems Origi, Sturridge and Ings should all stay and with Firmino able to play CF (allegedly) we are well stocked. One place, sometimes two from four players. As I said, four competitions, add Klopps required game play level and then the fact that all three strikers have had months upon months out with injuries. Suddenly this 4 doesn't seem enough, but of course it is and almost all title winners have 4 striker options.

We still need a LB and another CB, but only if we can sell Skrtel and Sakho is done. We have Lovren, who's been excellent. Matip, who has always looked good quality. Hopefully Toure, but really will be bit part and I'd think Ilori will be sold or loaned. Lucas has looked good there, but if we want to win things we need a finished top class CB and one who plays on the left as everyone else wants to play on the right.

Just my thoughts.

4.) 17 May 2016 12:39:18
I will just trust in klopp and support whoever we sign to be fair. All the speculation will play out and what will happen will happen. One thing I know for sure is that season is going to be immense. Good luck 2m lads. ynwa.

5.) 17 May 2016 12:50:44
Actually I would put Flanno as RB and Clyne as back up.

6.) 17 May 2016 06:11:04
Y do you think Zielinski is a finished product. He was on loan at Empoli last season. I am still not getting y are we buying similar players every summer. What about Brannagan then? What's the difference between Brannagan and Zielinski?
What happens if Can gets injured, Don't say it would Lucas against Hazzard.
Not sure if we would buy Gotze with Zielinski coming in. Where would you play all the attack minded midfielders?

29 Dec 2015 06:56:53
One for the Eds re: culture and tactics. When watching teams who are doing more with less some players slot in and look fantastic. Stoke can play some exciting stuff and then there are the leicesters of the world, where Liverpool players look really out of sorts normally.
Is it players coming to Liverpool with big price tags causing psychological issues, the shirt dragging them down, or is it the lack of gelling with all the players bought so we are always changing the jigsaw instead of adding final pieces?
Just wondering why we keep looking mid table with no creativity and scrappy wins?
Or is there a mental challenge where teams step up to play Liverpool?
I just think the squad although unbalanced should be putting in more consistent displays.

Astral Fissure

{Ed001's Note - it is never one thing mate, it is always a combination of them all. That is why it will take so long to fix, though you will never be able to stop the opposition from raising their game against us, you can improve in other areas so it becomes less of an issue.}

1.) 29 Dec 2015 11:00:31
Its also playing for a top team requites those extra 5 goals a season and the past players we have had set such standards. Who at stoke do bojan and shaqiri have to compete against in the fans recent memeoru (ie he's nit as good a as so and so) also there is the fact that these players stop being MOTD players and you actually start watching wwhat they contribute over 90 mins, how many times have shaqiri and bojan had stinkers this season, we don't see it because we don't watch every game. We only see the good games out of them.

2.) 29 Dec 2015 13:34:17
Bojan may have been invisible for some games, but he's really helped them, when they click they do it well, all their attackers are pacey and work well together, how many of our attackers haven't had 'stinkers. ' He turns up as much as most of ours.

3.) 29 Dec 2015 15:20:35
Why so many disagree with paulo. don't normally agree with what he says but he makes an okay point. And yea i fail to see what shakiri offers . so far anyway.

4.) 29 Dec 2015 17:48:21
And yea i fail to see what shakiri offers
========================

2 goals yesterday which won them 3/ 4 so in effect 3 points .
I watched them few times and he "Shaqiri" have been more than decent, he is no Aguero or Silva, but he has been useful for them.

5.) 29 Dec 2015 18:26:01
I have always been buffled y liverpool stop their pursuit of shaqiri.

{Ed001's Note - because he has major attitude problems. He always plays well for a few games then struts about offering nothing for months.}

17 Oct 2015 13:28:29
Good first 15 and then Spurs took over. Can was excellent until he had that awkward fall, Coutinho absent and Origi smothered. Migs has had some excellent stopping and Clyne showed a flash of 1 touch football.
Wonder if they are tiring because of the new training regime. Hopefully the team talk gets them reenergised.

Astral Fissure

1.) 17 Oct 2015 13:34:55
I thought Coutinho looked off today. Origi should be out wide for me, rather than down the middle. I think we look improved at the back but still shaky, but a way in the right direction :)

Would love to see tex on for milner, no expectations on the game think he's the one who could do something or possibly sub phil off, looks tired.

2.) 17 Oct 2015 13:59:54
Milner is an odd conundrum. Great professional, experience winning and when he came on against us for city in the "we go again" game he tore us apart down the right with 1 touch movement. I want to see that player, this current version is box to box but not offering much.

I honestly don't know if OP was being facetious about selling couts and using the money for 3 more players. That has been one of the problems over the last couple of seasons. Selling a good player and bloating the squad.

Coutinho has been great for Liverpool, sure there is inconsistency, however he is 23 and still has development and has put on great performances and scored some cracking goals.

He hasn't turned against the club, while he is an LFC player he should be supported and feel welcome. If we keep getting upset players are linked with moves and turn toxic all we do is push them away from us before anything has happened and make their decision easier or prompt them to look elsewhere.

Would love Kante to join, although not holding my breath. Would be a great DM and the first pure DM we have had since Mascherano left, really take a lot of pressure of the midfield.

That and it is a crime not sign him with all the terrible they Kante, oh he Can type puns when passing between our midfield.

Astral Fissure

{Ed001's Note - he is not a DM, never has been a DM and never will be a 'pure DM'. No idea why this nonsense keeps getting said. He is an old-fashioned central midfielder. He is far more than a limited defensive midfielder.}

Completely agree with that Carra. Only 11 can start so a smaller unit it is easier to manage personalities and develop the youngsters. Also can concentrate wages instead of spreading thin over players who don't get a run.

I think it will be good to have Stevie come in and train with the lads. He has been a great professional for the club and it is great to remain loyal.

The other note is that Macca said he might discuss coaching opportunities, that does not mean start right now, he will more than likely honour the LA contract first before returning to the club. It will be a good opportunity for the club to get a behind closed doors type assessment from someone unattached to the club in a professional capacity, but still has the clubs interests at heart.

I am starting to think Lallana is off as well. A little surprised as Klopp has previously stated he likes Lallana's work rate, however watching LFC Press Box (I know, I know), one pundit's views were that Lallana is too slow for Klopp's desired team and is adding GW and Mane to remove Lallana as he cannot make him quicker.

Still though, would have to think Milner and Lucas are also out as the team bloat is huge.

If Coutinho was going, I just think he would have by now. It all seems quiet on that front, on his day he is lethal, teams that are competing for the title and champs league may see him as inconsistent at this stage of his career?

I have no idea why there is so much hate either for GW. Newcastle on paper had a decent side although the game is not played on paper. We know Mike Ashley is an owner more concerned with profit than results and Steve McLaren is not a high caliber EPL manager. It took him a long time to rebuild his reputation after Middlesbrough and England. Rather than blasting GW, he was always a player brought in to a bigger shop window to be sold for a profit, he started great and faded, I would like to focus on the positives and think there are larger things at play regarding Newcastle's setup and the environment he was in.

If he comes hopefully he will move into a better setup and look to kick on. My concern is not GW, it is the bloat in that part of the squad and who will be sacrificed.
