With Ronnie returning to Man Utd makes me think should we get Pipco back for a season loan? I’m sure he has something to prove and never held any hate for him for leaving was just sad! I think he would be a good option for us had a fire relationship with Salah in the short time together. If we could get that over the line reduced wages and reasonable loan fee of course. I would be happy to wait till next summer for a squad overhaul.

Also do we know if any of our players will be happy with him returning the way he left I can't see there being any bad blood? Would love to see this happen lads just to add some more excitement to the season on our side of things! Not going to though I suppose?

Thoughts?

I don't think so. We need someone like Bissouma and/ or Tieleman. To me it was clear that our midfield is where we need quality help the most. I understand the point about Pipco, I just don't think he's the answer. Just my opinion though.

{Ed0666's Note - I wish klopp read this page and was swayed by popular opinion.

2.) 28 Aug 2021 21:04:32
No. He’s lightweight, inconsistent and just come back from bad injury. Plus the only team it actually helps is Barca, to hell with them. They can sit and fester in the bed they made together. As you can tell, I’m not the kind to forgive and forget, as the song goes, I bear grudges like high court judges.

3.) 28 Aug 2021 21:07:19
I don’t think we should make the same mistakes as United no.
I would rather play Elliot there than coutinho.h

4.) 28 Aug 2021 21:29:49
No pipco would not improve us.

5.) 28 Aug 2021 21:37:38
Yeah, I'm not a world class manager, so my opinions are rubbish really, but it's still fun.

6.) 28 Aug 2021 21:44:49
As much as I’d love bissouma is he really what we need? Would he have been the diffence in penetrating that defence? We hear a lot about ‘not a Klopp player’ but we do need a plan B which origi/ taki don’t seem to be.

7.) 29 Aug 2021 00:00:31
yes, sailor in my opinion he is.

8.) 29 Aug 2021 00:38:37
Bissouma is very good but he would have just stood in front of that back 8 like anyone else. We could be still playing now and we wouldn’t have scored unless we got another penalty. It happened loads last season Fulham Brighton Burnley Chelsea Everton. Teams go 1-0 up sit back and unless we get a penalty we aren’t scoring. We don’t have enough goal threats in the team. I’d argue our attack was a bigger problem than our defence last season and we haven’t addressed it.

{Ed0666's Note - Dare I mention Courinho? I don’t care what the know it all’s say on this site but I think Couts would have made a difference today. We were stupid with shots outside the box and zero movement, there I said it cue the ridicule. And you know what? No one can prove me wrong because they can’t say for sure as it’s all conjecture!

9.) 29 Aug 2021 05:54:37
Is Coutinho even fit? I imagine people would feel better having him on the bench, but in reality is that actually a thing. We may as well have held onto Harry Wilson.

10.) 29 Aug 2021 11:21:48
Ed666, how would he have made a diff egress he is the shadow of the player he was, 4 years older and has been injured for the past year or so? Sorry, I disagree. We may not have played well enuff to win and had Salah’s chance fell to his left foot or had Hendo’s belter not taken a slight deflection, we win the game and no one is talking about Cou or whoever else BUT let’s not start playing this game of if this guy or that guy was here, we would have won cos there is no proof of that either.

{Ed0666's Note - agreed mate but we didn’t win the chances we created against 10 men were minuscule and were both entiltled to our opinion. If and it’s a bit if Couts comes I won’t be sad. I know that’s not a popular opinion.

Would anyone take Zaha at Liverpool? surely he won’t stay at Palace another year? Especially with them having no players left how much would he cost £30million? If we did sign him would add a clause to smile more as he seems to frown and cry his way through most games but is definitely a tricky player for opposing teams! Just scratching my head for forwards to sign.

Arnoldoza321

1.) 03 Aug 2021 17:35:28
Not for me. I have no doubt that under klopps guidance he could iron out the kinks in his game but he's 28 and injury prone.

We have to go with a younger player here.

2.) 03 Aug 2021 18:21:11
Hasn't Viera signed a lot of good players? Apart from Townsend and Cahill who else have they lost?

3.) 03 Aug 2021 18:22:52
No, he’s too old and cost would be as much as Sarr, who has apparently got more potential.

4.) 03 Aug 2021 18:29:37
Absolutely not. And there are more than enough better options out there at the same price point. It's more a question of Edwards moving on Origi and Shaqiri, to bring in the money that will allow the club to spend on a new forward.

5.) 03 Aug 2021 19:48:46
No. But I would certainly sign Eze. Brilliant player and someone who would fit in like a glue here.

6.) 03 Aug 2021 20:49:59
Zaha? If at his age of near 30, he has not improved which he hasn’t then, this is his level hence, WAY below LFC. No thanks. Rather give Taki his chances.

7.) 03 Aug 2021 23:25:59
For £30M I would 100% take him as a rotation/ backup option. I would expect very little chance of Palace accepting £50M though never mind £30M.

I remember how fantastic Origi looked for a spell a few years ago bombing down the left wing before he got injured and unfortunately never really consistently got back to that level. I think Klopp would improve Zaha a lot and he would be a really good rotation option.

I know we all love a shiny new player and during the transfer window everyday we wake to some hope of an incredible signing. But we have been very lucky with previous signings working out fantastically and will go in to the season knowing what nearly every player can or can’t give us throughout the season imagine being a Man U fan with signing after signing letting them down and being unable to cut it bar Bruno Penandes that is.

I still hope for a CM but if not I am sure we will be fine with Curtis stepping up and Hendo and Thiago fit again. Forward wise I think Salah mane jota Firmino is adequate cover with Elliot coming in every know and then. So even if we don’t sign anyone else which I am sure we will we have an amazing squad of players probably the best squad we have ever assembled so will be challenging for the title who knows we could have it wrapped up by Xmas again! 🤞😅.

Arnoldoza321

1.) 15 Jul 2021 16:50:04
We need a CDM who can also play the Hendo role as a minimum. A wide or centre forward would be ideal. If we get both of these we will be challenging come the end of the season.

2.) 15 Jul 2021 17:07:17
I don't disagree with you there, Arnold.

I'm excited by seeing how Jones continues to develop and Elliot too.

I do hope we do add a player or two, tho, as it derisks the challenge for the championship for us. A couple of injuries and we could be down to playing a midfield which is not capable of challenging.

I don't think we'll ever be able to afford to have 2 whole different first 11s (like maybe City have had in the past, or indeed the England ODI cricket team! ), but having that extra quality on rotation helps us to cover injuries, fatigue or loss of form.

3.) 15 Jul 2021 18:03:19
Josh we have hendo, fabinho and thiago who can play cdm.

4.) 15 Jul 2021 19:02:53
Thiago cannot play the CDM role, IMO. He did play there a bit last season cos we ran out of bodies and he struggled. I fo agree with u that we don’t need a CDM right now. We need a CM or another no.8 like Bissouma (hey, who can actually play the DM role) to come in and help out.

5.) 15 Jul 2021 20:18:56
Agree 100% Olired, Thiago can't play the CDM role for Liverpool he is crap at it in the pl. Further forward only time will tell. He should be going full out to prove himself. I already think its an interesting battle between Thiago, Jones, Firmino, Ox for the more attacking role.

6.) 15 Jul 2021 20:28:15
I do agree, that we have a good squad of players and one of the best first 11 once all fit and on form (form being very key as we saw last season), but my concern is being able to play at such a high level again as a unit for a full season again like we saw for those 2 1/ 2 years. I said it at the end of the season we won the title and it transpired last season, certain players just fell off massively performance wise, and it’s a huge risk thinking they can just find that sort of form again. If we just rely on the same squad of players that struggled last season with no tweaks in and out, I think we will have another season of struggles and maybe this time, we won’t be so lucky to get top 4, let alone make a challenge. I’d love to be proven wrong but I think it’s delusional to think we could Challenge with the current squad if our competition strengthens.

I’m not talking about whole sale changes, but in my opinion, we need small changes to the first team, which then improves the squad overall. Konate is seen as a first choice alongside vvd, so Gomez, matip etc are squad players now rather than first choice alongside vvd. A new midfielder should be brought in, that should be able to be a first choice, so hendo or Thiago are now no so heavily relied on. Same with up top, even more so, since I am concerned about the form of firmino and mane, so we definitely need someone to push them for a starting spot, not just a origi/ shaq replacement. We need to improve the first 11 to compete for a title. You have to factor in afcon as well, salah won’t be here to carry us during the toughest period of the season, are we relying on firmino or jota who struggles with injuries to keep us near or at the top. Let’s be real, this is a very important season for klopp, I can see him leaving at the end, if we seriously struggle and miss out on top 4.

{Ed0666's Note - yes mate like I’ve said many many times sign a pact wide forward who is first team ready and a Bissouma or Saul (Eds 001’s current man crush) and we’ll win the title and that’s not me being partisan. I stand by that statement.

7.) 15 Jul 2021 21:50:29
Gmil Thiago is not a defensive mid and Henderson and Fabinho will both be out for periods this year. We need someone who can play both roles. As Ed said above, CM and a forward and I believe we win the league whoever City sign.

{Ed025's Note - really????..

8.) 15 Jul 2021 22:04:16
Ed666. I’m with you on Bissouma or Saul and a wide forward. Add to that little to no injuries to the squad and we are good to go. Well, at least no long term injuries to our key players and I think we win the league. Yes Man City will be in the mix as they are simply a machine when they get going. But we wiped the floor of them the season we won the league and that’s without making any signings that summer.

{Ed0666's Note - ditto and ditto mate

9.) 15 Jul 2021 22:09:24
God be with the days when midfielders could defend and attack and didn't need their hand held by a CDM, box to box, No.8 or AM rubbish.

10.) 15 Jul 2021 22:35:25
Defo Ed025 if we get those 2 players it really doesn't matter what the other teams do. They can't sign VVD, Allison, Salah, Fabs, Trent, Robbo they can't get to their level.

{Ed025's Note - but besides VVD who had a bit of a sore leg for a bit you had that side last season mark....and finished 17 points behind city!!!, what makes you think that if they strengthen you will win it mate?..

11.) 16 Jul 2021 08:24:41
The seasons we won the CL and Premier league we were very lucky with injuries and we didn’t really suffer any big player, long term ones. Last season we were very unlucky with injuries and we lost Hendo, Vvd, Gomez, Matip, Thiago and Fabinho for a hell of a lot of games.
Next season we already know we will be without Mane and Salah for at least a month and Wiji who was available for 38 league games a season is gone. Signings are important but for me next season our success will massively depend on that bit of luck of not having any big player (s) picking up serious injuries. As some of our squad players Ox, Kieta, Shaq etc will almost definitely continue to have their jiggles and be undependable.

12.) 16 Jul 2021 12:39:11
Ed025 Fab wasn't in the center mid for a lot of the time, we were the form team at the beginning and end, I fancy us big time if we sign 2 more quality players and we stay relatively injury free.

13.) 16 Jul 2021 17:57:28
Mark, Thiago never played the DM role so not sure why you are calling a player crap at something he simply is not built for. Another pointless jibe at a player you simply despise.

As for him playing further forward, no. We don’t need time to tell anything and there is no battle with him and Ox, Bobbie and whoever. That’s just bitter stuff. Ox and Jones are nowhere near his ability and Bobbie does not even play his position. Again, your bias towards TA is deafening

We already know he can do that in the PL ash the first games he played and the last 10 games he played (both periods he was fully fit with a much better team around him) suggests and outrightly confirms. Nice try, tho.

All these people saying van den berg will step up in a few years are dreaming and have obviously never seen him play. If we want to continue at the level we are at now then he will not make the grade a mid table defender mark my words. I have higher hopes for Koumetio if he can work hard and keep his feet on the ground he has a chance in the future.

Also disagree with selling Phillips the guy is a warrior and much better back up than Matip by a million miles will be sad to see him go especially with him being homegrown as well. Time to get rid of Origi Shaqiri Wilson Keita Woodburn Grujic and countless others another week here another weeks wages sponged! Please Klopp sort this out and sign Bissouma and a good Forward and we are all set for another gripping season.

Liked the look of Dumfries in the euros and think Lamptey is going to take off this season but hey we got Trent who will only go from strength to strength with his hometown support behind week in week out! Also interested to see how Harvey Elliot fairs this season think he can really contribute.

1.) 28 Jun 2021 16:28:32
Donno why everyone is literally fired up abt out CBS options.

We've got to trust Klopp, we need some serious cash if we want to get a midfielder and a forward.

If Klopp is fine selling Phillips who he doesn't rate like everyone of us here then it's fine for me.

Klopp always likes defenders who can pass and Phillips isn't one of them neither he fits Klopp's philosophy playing extremely highline.

2.) 28 Jun 2021 17:34:23
Everyone of us here don't rate Philips?
Dunno about that.

3.) 28 Jun 2021 18:25:30
Sry Flesh I meant Klopp doesn't Rate him like we rate him here.

4.) 28 Jun 2021 18:32:17
bit harsh on Sepp to write him off already. getting regular game time in the championship at 19 is pretty decent.

5.) 28 Jun 2021 18:40:59
Better than decent Southern, do people expect the finished article as a teenager? i actually think he has every chance of being good enough for our squad in a coupla years.

6.) 28 Jun 2021 22:30:15
never understood the over analysis of academy players. Anything can happen for him and others his age. They just need the right combination of hard work, talent and the right opportunity and then, who knows.

7.) 28 Jun 2021 20:16:12
Van der berg needs to develop on loan, no pressure. I think Billy koumentio could well be a good player too. Neither are ready to replace anyone yet, that's not to say they won't make the step up.

8.) 29 Jun 2021 08:22:55
They love Sepp at Preston to the point of wanting him back on loan so clearly he has progressed. How about we support these kids as they navigate the risky world of top flight footie instead of always having digs at them for not being as in this case, Trent and VVD immediately considering that Trent was not this good immediately while VVD was not supposed to even make it as a pro. Just a thought.

9.) 29 Jun 2021 08:55:18
VDB did very well last season. To the point that Preston seemingly made him a priority this summer to get back through the door as early as possible. He was playing at right back as well so if Neco does decide he wants to move on there is possibly a space for VDB when he returns. I know he isn't a stereotypical right back in terms of stature but he started out as a right winger and he's bloody quick. Dan Burn at Brighton blew the conventional idea of what a wing back should look like out the water last season with some brilliant performances.

People need to give VDB time to find himself as a player. He's a kid trying to learn his trade and settle into a position. Whether that be right back or centre back, just let him crack on in peace. As a bare minimum he's already increased his value massively. Sell him next summer and i'll put my neck out and say you get at least 5 times the £1.7m we paid (considering the price we got for Hoever and the price being touted for Neco) . Keep the faith. VDB was playing first team football in a top flight league at 16 years old under Jaap Stam. He probably knows a thing or two about what makes a good defender, i'd say.

Would take him back no problem. I wonder if we could sign him and stagger payments over 3 years, we would be his number 1 choice and he would knuckle down and try to regain his career. Him and Salah are great together as well compliment each other’s game. We need someone that’s all I know.

Can’t see this happening unless they know he will struggle to stay fit. Hopefully he finishes his career with us and joins the coaching staff. The fans love him and know what he brings. An immense human being.

Not many squads could have dealt with the amount of injuries we did last season maybe none! So on that side squad management has been fantastic and we did use youngsters Williams and Philips (not so young) Elliotts loan also worked out well. But I do agree hanging on to some of the players we do that never get to see them me on the pitch is poor Tsimikas Origi Ox and Shaq never play. But hey If poor squad management wins champions leagues and premiership titles then carry on. Seriously though I do think a tidy up is needed a bit messy having all these players unsure of their futures.

Might not be a bad thing for Alisson he could do with a reset and refresh. Is the Steven calker that’s been called up to Sierra Leone squad the same that stared for us as a striker? Also has Lukaku been taking a truth serum what a complete bell. Happy new year everyone how many variants will next year hold I am going for 4 maybe 5 exciting times hey? Good luck everyone.

This is true Trent could even play as a centre forward no problem but then who would we play as Right back? I agree with Ed01 why move his position when whoever comes in for him will be a massive downgrade.

I really think once our midfield is settled and the same 3 are playing week in week out we will improve greatly I would like to see Fab Hendo Thiago with the likes of Naby and Elliot coming of the bench, obviously keeping those 3 fit is another problem!

Only one more week to go weird we are the only game on Sunday so have to wait that little bit longer.

Got to be a wind up he did absolutely nothing wrong I watched the game was good fun. Christ imagine if they brought vinnie jones in to it and he was all lovely and tickled the opponent as they went past him never going to happen carra was no nonsense as usual. Plus Gary Neville was awful so he had to do something England got battered. Actually was better than watching the real England team I didn’t fall asleep.
