Please no

LFC looking for a versatile left-sided player

Real pull plug on Bale's move to China.

AggerDo

1.) 28 Jul 2019 14:54:38
Bale will not be joining Liverpool Klopp don’t want him the supporters don’t want him
Up the pool.

2.) 28 Jul 2019 15:00:21
The only reasons not to consider bale is wages and fitness there is no doubt the player is class and gets goals. Saying that he is not coming to Liverpool but any doubts on the players ability is just silly!

3.) 28 Jul 2019 15:02:41
0 percent chance of it happening.

4.) 28 Jul 2019 15:12:11
jkh1983, then you’re not familiar with the remarks that he made concerning Liverpool as a club, the supporters and the city and people of Liverpool then? He’d be as welcome as a fart in an elevator.

5.) 28 Jul 2019 15:13:11
Hasn’t he mocked the people of Liverpool in the past?

6.) 28 Jul 2019 15:14:06
Besides. There are other more effective and less injury prone players around than him, Diego Laxalt for example, a very good left sided player and covers a wide variety of positions.

7.) 28 Jul 2019 15:44:57
I don't want him anywhere near our club, but surely on a quality level, you can't compare Gareth Bale with Diego Laxalt.

8.) 28 Jul 2019 15:46:23
No one doubts his ability it’s all about attitude so thank god klopp doesn’t want him
Up the pool.

9.) 28 Jul 2019 15:56:31
Your correct 6times im not is there some quotes to substantiate that claim?

10.) 28 Jul 2019 16:26:55
The quotes are hard to find regrettably. Suffice to say that he did make very unsavoury remarks, pretty sure Ed001 can also substantiate this? In terms of quality Epic, yes there is a difference, however, Laxalt is a hard worker and makes an effort, he’s a Klopp type player. Can you see a show pony like Bale wanting to cover full back? Not that I would want Bale anywhere near the club.

11.) 28 Jul 2019 17:48:00
Surely it's a gag from OP?

12.) 28 Jul 2019 18:52:56
The incident I remember was about 6 or 7 years ago on a YouTube video with Bale and a younger spurs player who has also since left.
They were just joking around really, but they were essentially slagging off LFCs fall from grace in 2011 (the way people slag off United nowadays), but I think they slagged off the town as well.
It probably wasn't hugely malicious but it was done at a bad time for the club, and it was taken off YouTube shortly afterwards, as I think there was a quite hostile reaction.
I don't even think he actually dislikes the town or the club, but I wouldn't want him at LFC.
I have a long memory, joking or not.

13.) 28 Jul 2019 18:56:00
We haven't got a spare £1m per week.

14.) 28 Jul 2019 19:14:52
As I say excellent player no doubt about it and for the right package would improve any team in the prem!

15.) 28 Jul 2019 21:13:22
I certainly remember him saying something about ‘self pity city’ or similar remark, so he can stay well away.

16.) 29 Jul 2019 11:15:37
NO, NO, NO and NO!

{Ed001's Note - 6Times is right, he made some deliberately nasty comments about the city and the people. He is a nasty little gimp anyway, who would rather play golf on his private golf course than football, why would anyone want him? He thinks the team should be built around him, rather than built to be a team. Leave him to rot in Madrid, where his own fans detest him with a passion for good reason, he is a tit.}

17.) 29 Jul 2019 15:29:30
You a fan then Ed 🤣.

{Ed001's Note - yep.}

18.) 29 Jul 2019 18:58:40
It's just been reported that Bale has pulled out of Real Madrid's pre-season tournament in Munich following his lucrative move to China not going through.

Seriously, I couldn't even make this stuff up.

I believe he is currently going by "we can't defend".

Really surprised he isn't going by "why so Seri us" but you know, give him time.

2.) 21 Aug 2017 23:40:46
I suspect he's cleaning up his PC and desk right about now.

3.) 21 Aug 2017 23:45:38
Is he any good?

4.) 21 Aug 2017 23:46:54
And will we only sign him if coutinio goes? If that is true it doesn't say a great deal for our supposed no sale stance.

5.) 21 Aug 2017 23:58:55
he is one of my favourite players I hope we get him either way.

6.) 22 Aug 2017 00:24:49

10.) 22 Aug 2017 08:28:45
Yep, I knew Harry was We can't Defend. You seem to always know who harry is based on his posts and their tone regardless of him using his upteenth username.

11.) 22 Aug 2017 09:47:30
Why all the usernames harry just out of intrest.

12.) 22 Aug 2017 11:16:18
I quite enjoy the tease of Harry and the name changes never quite sure what's next but for me he makes this site a lot better.

13.) 22 Aug 2017 13:36:31
Am I the only one who doesn't know who Harry is?

14.) 22 Aug 2017 16:29:23
Belfast red Harry is a legend on this site right up there with edds and macca. Harry often changes his name to keep us all on our toes.
There are a few regular posters on here that tend to disagree with him but for me he is the best poster.

15.) 22 Aug 2017 17:35:24
Negative of my brother! Owe you my life! 😎. You are one of the standout poster on this site. With that username to survive on this site is something even I couldn't dare!

However long the current postponement is in place for, there will still be time to play remaining fixtures.

I don't think the Euro's will go ahead- definitely not as it has the new format of being played all over Europe in different venues and national governments have already closed borders to non-nationals.

That leaves a decent amount of time to get through the remaining fixtures- even if you had to tone down training and be able to go:

Sat/ Sun - Tues/ Weds - Sat/ Sun

2 weeks in May and 2 in June and it's done

Finish this season, cancel Euros, player break
Go again.

AggerDo

1.) 14 Mar 2020 10:18:45
It’s all speculation isn’t it, but if I were to join. In the speculation- I would have thought the euros are under massive threat, as the mass movement of people all across the continent for a football tournament doesn’t seem like a sensible step, or one that governments would be hugely keen on. The league is suspended hopefully with players self isolating, so in 3 weeks time or whatever the players might be clear of it. Then play the games behind closed doors- maybe it’ll take 4 or 5 weeks to restart, but I can only see it restarting with empty stadia.

{Ed047's Note - I don’t think it’s going to be that simple, that would only work if every player had Covid 19 right now. Which is not the case.

People will be catching it over the coming months not just hours and days mate.

2.) 14 Mar 2020 12:24:47
I feel sorry for lower division clubs

We all know many are on the edge financially- a prolonged cash flow problem could see them go under

Losing gate revenue for the remainder of this season would be horrible for them- am guessing they still rely heavily on Matchday revenue as opposed to broadcasting rights.

3.) 14 Mar 2020 13:16:12
I think I heard that 3/ 4 of lower clubs revenue comes from gate receipts, which clearly wouldn't be good long term.

{Ed002's Note - It would not take much for money to flow down from the PL - and it would not take a fortune.}

4.) 14 Mar 2020 19:13:45
You’re correct of course Ed, but this virus will be around for evermore, not just even the next few months. I do feel that if a season must be affected then it should be next season and not the one that has largely been played. You could argue that august won’t allow sufficient time to have the risks reduced. Perhaps put everything on hold and resume this season in October, take a mini break and play an 18 game season next, starting in Jan - presumably a clever computer can work a roughly even distribution of home and away fixtures. If you only get to play city away you just have to take it on the chin, all sides would at least know the rules before the season begins.

{Ed002's Note - This is nonsense. It is a great pity you cannot look beyond Liverpool.}

5.) 14 Mar 2020 23:51:19
Hi ed, which bit in particular? If it’s the concept of an 18 game season then fair enough, that’s quite a leap and a novel concept, but is that a worse idea than abandoning a season without resolution to so many key questions?
It’s certainly not nonsense to say that this virus will be around forevermore, i sincerely hope that by august we will have seen a huge decline in the number of cases - but it’s not outlandish to suggest large public gatherings could still be an issue, or that players could still be contracting the disease then too.

{Ed002's Note - Nobody is cosidering playing a short term league next season. Not on the table.}

6.) 15 Mar 2020 08:35:21
Fair enough Ed, no matter what though i can’t help but think there’ll have to be some sort of novel solution to all of this. Keep washing those hands and singing happy birthday- I would say national anthem but don’t know how long the US one lasts!

01 Mar 2020 09:54:49
Interesting discussion on 606 last night regarding whether this LFC side or Arsenals Invincibles are the best.

The one thing I took away from it was we don't have those players who will set the standard required in tough games.

Arsenal had Petit and Vieira, United had Keane, previously we had McMahon and Souness.

However, the type of match we had last night are now few and far between. Football is different and the vast majority of teams have gone to a possession and passing based model.

I don't necessarily think we missed a "general" in midfield last night but we definitely missed a player who can pick a pass or set the tempo

On a side note- the Winter break perhaps didn't do us any favours but let's not forget- we have under Klopp had a dip in form in either January or February- without a winter break.

4 wins required - if City win all their games. It was on- it still is on- and come May the longest period of "transition" will be over.

AggerDo

1.) 01 Mar 2020 11:07:31
I absolutely don't care about that Invincibles tag TBH. We've already won as many (more? ) League games this season than that Arsenal side did. We really need the club to get this league title won, in any way possible, to get that 30 year gap monkey off our backs.

2.) 01 Mar 2020 11:14:34
Those days are gone now, the midfield enforcer.
Pressing is the name of the game, which Wijnaldum is excellent at.
I thought that there was a strong case for a red card for Deeney, his late challenge on TAA?

{Ed001's Note - late, high, studs showing, it was certainly nasty and it is shocking that neither he nor Hughes got yellows.}

3.) 01 Mar 2020 12:58:06
With Juicer and Johnnyr1970 on this one. Different era's and diff. schemes and tactics. Also, that era of PL teams did not have the financial muscle the so called lesser teams have now cos Sheffield, Watford, Leicester, Wolves etc are much stronger sides with much better players than the "lesser teams Arsenal dealt with.

Also, The only people on the planet who really care about the whole Invincible schtick is Arsenal fans. Did I want us to go undefeated and win the whole lot? Of course. Would I cry about it if we didn't? Nope. We have won more points than that Invicible side won last season and we prolly will do so this season hence, two seasons in a row we would have battered their record of points accrued. That Arsenal team will never match that and they have NO CL trophy to show for it either over two seasons. over a two years span. We do so Arsenal can do one.

Ed's

Any info on the rumour that we may be accused of hacking into City's scouting database?

Seen it thrown up as one of the "stones" they won't leave unturned in trying to get their ban reduced/ annulled.

AggerDo

{Ed001's Note - this has been dealt with ages ago. It is not a rumour, and it has been explained in full that we paid them off.}

1.) 23 Feb 2020 10:14:06
Was a confidentiality agreement not signed by both sides as well ed?

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - I can't remember, it is old news.}

2.) 23 Feb 2020 10:34:43
cheers Ed

Assume City think throwing mud everywhere will take a bit of heat off them
Didn’t realise been settled.

{Ed001's Note - it's not really settled as such. We just paid them hush money in effect. Unless something has changed, we didn't even sack the guilty parties when it was a clear sackable offence. I am very disappointed with the club in regards to this matter. It is extremely serious and a criminal matter, even if it was down to lax IT security on City's part. What happened is theft and immediate dismissal should have been the result. We, as a club, should be better than this and stand for something good.}

3.) 23 Feb 2020 14:27:30
Spot on, Ed. City may not have made a fuss about it at the time BUT those LFC employees who were in on this stuff should have been sacked and prolly should have been referred forw prosecution. Hacking is a crime punishable by fines and jail time. We should never have kept them at the club.

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City were very upset at the time but Liverpool made a significant payment from the slush fund to end the matter. The PL and FA discussed it recently and Manchester City did Liverpool a favour by saying the matter was well in the par and closed from their perspective.}

4.) 23 Feb 2020 17:41:05
Let's say an investigation had found us guilty and we faced a charge from the FA, any idea what type of punishment that kind of breach would possibly bring? Has there been previous cases of a similar type of misconduct from other clubs in the past?

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea and I am not aware of any similar cases in the past.}

Ed02
As you have posted a lot of information- could you please explain what is the difference between FFP in the Premier League and FFP in UEFA competitions?

If I'm correct in reading below and not misinterpreting- it seems as though a club could meet FFP in the Premier League- qualify for European Competition but then fail FFP in that?

Seems as though FA are setting clubs up for a fall?

Sorry if I 've got it wrong.

AggerDo

{Ed002's Note - The rules are different between UEFA and each of the FAs/Leagues. The Premier League (not The FA) has different rules to UEFA and there are many reasons for that including varying tax sitautions across different nations. In terms of cost control the Premier League has worked on the basis of a maximum of £105M total losses over a three year period whilst UEFA allows the injection of money from the owners of €5M a year on the basis that total losses do not exceed €30M (was €45M) over a rolling three year period. The offset is significant but the Premier League figure allows the deduction of costs associated withyouth football, women's football and in particular infrastructure (stadium improvements etc.) to be excluded - so it is not really like for like.}

1.) 15 Feb 2020 12:55:56
Thanks Ed
I think there was co stage a whole back of city shifting some of their operation over to the women’s side.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what that means, sorry.}

2.) 15 Feb 2020 15:41:46
Sorry Ed
Think there was a story/ coverage a while back that the Men’s set up at City had moved some of their costs over to the Women’s side.

{Ed002's Note - If you look at the losses being made by women's football clubs the amounts are vey small at most clubs - although Manchester City have made more losses than most - but it is less than £1M a year, so I would not worry about it.}

3.) 15 Feb 2020 15:50:22
Laughable comments from Clinton Morrison on sly sprots about how ‘unlucky’ city have been. They weren’t unlucky, the owner ploughed millions and millions into Citeh in an effort to cheat their way to the top and got caught doing it. Anyone casting an eye over the figures could see what they were up to, and they finally got caught for it. Cheats - yes, unlucky - not in my book.

Citeh’s buying up of talent cheated other clubs of a fair competition. If only the Prem had the balls to punish the cheats - they won’t but they should.

4.) 16 Feb 2020 01:12:50
now that is what I call buying titles.

If I was West Brom or Leeds I would be livid if it was just cancelled and then reset for August
It is likely that the Euros will be cancelled so there is the ability to push PL fixtures back

Whatever the PL does the EFL would have to follow suit on- would look ridiculous If one stopped and the other carried on

I get what others have said about player safety and isolation but look at it this way too - if I’m at home self isolating for 7 days all the rest of my work colleagues are still in work, working.

If we lay a possession game teams will be more likely to have men behind the ball
In this situation- if you have a CF who is a “goal scorer” and is in the box all the time- they won’t be creating space for others.

Lots of our goals this season have been from a pass over the CB’s into a wide player running into the centre.
Everyone focussed on the quality of the pass, and on the quality of the run.

One thing missing - the quality of Firmino’s movement.
